"Bella sweetie, are you 100% sure you want to do this?" my overly protective mother said.
I should let you know who I am? Well my name is Isabella Swan, but I go by 'Bella' my full name just makes me sound older than my 21 year old self. I am on m way to go spend a week with my dad Charlie Swan police chief of Fork Washington. I promised my dad that I would come spend some time with him before I go to live in Volterra, Italy. My mother isn't vey happy that I'm moving almost halfway around the world just to live there and not just going there for a vacation. But I can understand her worrisome attitude, with me being blind and all. Oh don't worry I haven't been blind all my life, I became blind when I was 7 years old by a freak car accident caused by icy roads and a drunk driver. I don't really remember what happened but the doctors told my parents that when the windows shattered some of the glass got into my eyes and caused too much damage to repair my sight, which in the end gave me my blindness.
"Mom I will be just fine, you don't need to worry so much, dad will make sure nothing happens to me and you know that he wants to see me before I move to Italy."
"I know sweetie, but I can't help but to worry about you."
"I know mom, dad is picking me up at the airport and I told you that I will call you after I land in Port Angeles so you know I made it there safely," I said while giving her a hug.
"Ok, ok I love you sweetie, please be safe," mom said while hugging me back tightly.
"I will mom and I love you too."
Walking to the gate, I was helped by a stewardess to get on the plane get my carry-on in the top compartment and to find my seat in fist class that my mother insisted that I get, even though I don't need it. I am a vey simple person that doesn't really like spending too much on things that are not very necessary. After getting situated in my seat and was asked if I needed anything before take off. With a quiet no thank you, I was left to my thoughts. The flight took around 2 and a half hours, even though it didn't feel like it. I sat for a bit to let the other passengers get off the plane before standing up.
"Ma'am my name is Dave, I'll be helping you get off the plane and to where you will be meeting up with your father," Dave said to my left.
"Thank you Dave, I'm Bella the only thing I have is a carry on that's in the overhead," I said.
"Not a problem, I have it in hand and now if you are ready I can help you off the plane, my right am is on your left if you want to hold on to it."
With a smile I took the offered arm after folding my cane and stepped out of the seated area. We walked out of the plane and talked about nothing in particular. Was about a 10 minute o so walk to the pick up area and that is when I heard my dad above everyone else in the airport.
"Bells, over here."
"Hey dad, I missed you,' I said letting go of Dave and hugged my dad.
"Well Miss Bella it looks like you are in good hands, you have a good day, Sir," said Dave.
"I missed you too, Bells, and thank you Dave for helping my daughter," said my dad while taking my hand and putting it on hid arm.
"You are welcome sir," Dave said.
With that said dad helped me out of the airport and into his car. After getting settled and buckled, we were off to Forks. The ride to Forks went by pretty quick with small talk and peaceful silence. Feeling dad pull into the drive way and parked, I unbuckled and got out.
"I have your bag Bella, so no worries," dad said, coming around the back of the car and taking a hold of my arm.
"Thanks dad, I could have done that myself you know," I said with a laugh.
"Well, sorry for being a gentleman," he mumbled.
"I heard that dad."
While grumbling under his breath, dad helped me up the few steps and lead me into the house. I took a deep breath in though my nose to find it still smelled the same after 4 years of not being here. Hearing my dad set my carry-on beside me on the right, I let go of my dad's arm and stepped forward and to the left to go into the kitchen.
"Need any help finding your way around Bells," dad asked coming into the kitchen.
"No, I think I have it memorized from last time I was here, as long as you didn't move anything around I should be good," I said while getting a cup from the cabinet for water.
"It hasn't changed much from the last time you were here, some things in the living room were rearranged but other than that everything else is in the same place."
With a nod of my head, I walked over to where the living room is after a drink and putting the cup in the sink. I put out my right hand to feel for the couch that is normally near the entryway of the living room, to find nothing there.
"The couch is over by the front window to your right Bella and the coffee table is in front of it," dad told me from somewhere to my left.
"Thank you dad, but why the change of the furniture," I asked.
"oh, when Billy and Jake come over sometimes to watch the game and I had to make some room for Billy's wheelchair," dad said sadly.
"Wheelchair, what do you mean, what happened to Billy," I asked in shock.
"Billy was in a bad car accident 3 and half years ago, he was on his way to pick up Sarah from wok and got T-boned on the drivers side by the bed of his truck."
"Oh my god, that's terrible."
"Yeah it was, the doctors said that if the other vehicle was an inch or two closer to his door, Billy wouldn't be here today," dad said quietly.
"That has to be hard for him, how is Sarah handling it," I asked.
"She blames herself for the accident, because her ca was in the shop that day and she asked Billy to come get her from work, she couldn't have known that this was going to happen. Billy told her many times that he doesn't blame her for what happened and that shit happens."
"Dear god that's Billy for you, saying something like that to his wife," said with a giggle.
"Yeah, he got smacked in the head for that when he was fully recovered," dad laughed.
"Well I'm glad he is doing ok and still being a smartass."
My dad chuckled, hearing him moving and walking to the font room and then heard him going towards the stairs. He climbed the stairs and after a few minutes he came back down.
"Hey Bells, I have to go into the station tonight to get some paperwork done, I'll be home a little later tonight. Oh I put you bag in your room too," he said.
"That's fine dad, I'll probably go up to my room to unpack and go to bed, thank you for bringing my bag up."
"Ok sweetie, it's about 8:45pm now I'll see you later if your up or have a goodnight and will see you in the morning," he said while opening the door.
"Sure sure have fun with the paperwork," I laughed.
"Yeah, yeah not the most fun part of the job, but someone has to get it done and do it right," he said while closing the door shut.
Chuckling to myself, I got up and walked over to the steps to go up stairs, feeling for the railing I went up the stairs. Going to the left of the stairs to my room and feeling for the door, going into my room I walked over to where the foot of the bed is to find my bag on the bed. Opening it up I found my night clothes and toiletries, I went to the bathroom to take a shower. After getting done with my shower and blow drying my hair, I set my alarm on my phone to get up at 6:25am.
"Shit, I forgot to call mom, dammit she is probably freaking out," I sighed.
Gabbing my phone off the charger and opening the text app on the phone, I texted he a quick message and waited for her to reply. Which didn't take long.
"Thank god you made it there ok and thank you for letting your mother know that you landed over 2 hours ago."
"Mom I'm sorry, I lost tack of time and just forgot, you don't need to be so dramatic about it."
"Well I'm sorry if your mother worries, well I'll let you go so you can get some rest, I love you sweetheart."
"Love you too mom, goodnight."
With that, I put my phone back on the charger and went to bed.
