Nariko's Resolve

"Please be safe."

"Wait mom!" Yet she was pushed away in a bright light losing consciousness.

She flinched slowly opening her eyes hearing noises, she slowly stood up with a wince leaning on a wall before slowly walking out of what looked to be an alley. She saw people walking and going in a city unknown to her. She clutched her head in pain looking to the side to see a young child crossing the street just as a car came speeding making her gasp. "L-Look out!" She yelled.

Quickly she ran pushing the child out of the way just as she was hit and blacked out.

She ran as fast as she could despite the explosions going off around her. She tripped, falling on the hard ground, letting out a pained gasp before quickly turning in fear of the machine-like monster coming toward her.

"Nariko duck!"

She gasped quickly ducking as a blast of lightning hit and destroyed the monster and someone helped her sit and stand up. "Hurry and run Nariko! Go!" He yelled.

Nariko gasped sitting up panting before clutching her side in pain. She looked around frantically to see she was in a well furnished room and sitting on a soft bed she then noticed bandages on her arm and wore a nightdress also feeling bandages on her side along around her head too.

"You shouldn't be moving yet."

Nariko jumped quickly facing the door to see a male with gray hair and sharp purple eyes behind red framed glasses. At once Nariko was suspicious, holding the sheets to her chest. "Wh-Who are you?" She questioned, mentally cursing for her stuttering.

"My name is Reiji Akaba. I'm the owner of LDS." He replied calmly.

"LDS?" She questioned, confused, before looking around the room. "Is that where I am?"

"No this is my home I'm showing my gratitude to you for saving Reira." He told her.

"Reira?" She blinked, before she gasped remembering. "The child! Is the child ok?!"

Reiji looked at Nariko for a moment making her feel even more antsy before he looked to the side. Confused, she followed his gaze and gasped relieved to see Reira peeking shyly behind Reiji clutching a stuffed bear tightly. "Oh thank goodness you're ok." Nariko breathed relieved.

Reira looked up at Reiji who nodded then Reira walked up to Nariko to her surprise. "Th-Thank you for saving me." Reira spoke shyly.

Nariko grew wide eyed before smiling gently. "You're welcome Reira." She smiled. "That's a cute bear you have."

Reira looked surprised before walking to Nariko's bedside, understanding Nariko carefully picked Reira up to sit on the bed next to her. "Nii-san gave me this as a gift." Reira told Nariko.

"I see Reiji-san is a kind big brother, huh?" Nariko remarked with a smile.

Reira nodded then reached in to get out a star shaped charm. "This is yours. You had it and I held it while the nurses took care of you." Reira told her.

Nariko gently took the charm and smiled. "Thank you Reira I see your brother isn't the only kind one." She smiled.

Reira lightly flushed looking down shyly and Nariko couldn't help but mentally croon at how precious Reira looked. "Reira leave the room for a moment. I wish to speak to her alone." Reiji suddenly spoke.

Nariko jumped, forgetting he was there as Reira nodded, getting off the bed and left the room making her look up at him as he closed the door. "Tell me what is your name?" He asked.

She blinked in surprise before replying. "I'm… My name is Nariko." She told him.

"You hesitated." He remarked.

"I… I don't seem to remember anything much before I woke up here." She admitted with a frown.

"You have amnesia." He frowned.

"Maybe… Most likely from the hit with the car." She grimaced.

He looked at her for a moment as if studying her before he reached in his pocket and got out a deck box holding it out to her. "This is your Deck you should keep it close." He told her.

Once again she was surprised by his words slowly taking the deck box before he walked to the door. "You'll be staying here until otherwise the least I could do." He told her.

With that he left her alone she blinked before letting herself fall on the bed. "How did I let myself get into his flow?" She mumbled.

Nariko walked with Reira in the manor after a week. Nariko's injuries have been healing very well and during that time she became close to Reira who quickly became attached to her. Nariko wore a simple blue dress that brushed her knees and simple shoes given to her by Reiji's assistant Nakajima who she became good friends with. "Hmm… Hey Reira why don't we go to the backyard." She suggested. "I think we could use some fresh air."

Reira smiled and nodded, leading Nariko to the backyard where flowers grow before they sat on a garden bench at the center. "The flowers are very beautiful." Nariko smiled.

"You like flowers?" Reira asked.

"I have a soft spot for them." Nariko replied.

Then Nariko had an idea she went to a flower bed of pale pink flowers taking a few before going back to Reira who looked at her curiously as she began tying once she finished she looked at Reira. "Mind putting down your hood Reira?" She asked gently.

Reira was surprised by the request but did as Nariko asked while Nariko watched surprised by the long hair that fell down. "Oh." She whispered.

"Is… Is something wrong Nariko?" Reira asked worried.

Nariko blinked before she smiled and shook her head. "Not at all now hold still." She replied.

Nariko placed the flower crown on Reira's head, surprising the child. "Like I thought, it suits you Reira." She smiled.

Reira looked surprised, gently touching the flower crown a faint pink blush on her face. "Thank you Nariko." Reira thanked shyly.

Nariko nearly cooed and swooped Reira in a hug. "You're just too precious!" She smiled.

Reira gasped yet leaned onto Nariko who cradled Reira with a gentle smile unknown of the watchful eyes of Reiji.

Nariko woke up with a yawn rubbing her eyes and getting out of bed before looking at her reflection. Looks like my injuries are healed. I really have to thank Reiji-san for letting me stay here to recover. She thought with a smile.

Then she noticed clothes on the dresser. Curious she went to it and saw a note on top she picked it up to read. 'Please change into this once you awaken. Nakajima will escort you to my office, Reiji.'

Nariko was surprised before giving a light shrug. Guess he wants to talk since I'm healed. She thought.

She then changed wearing a strapless light gray dress that brushed her knees, black boots, a dark blue blazer, and a dark blue choker. "Not bad." She smiled, looking at her reflection.

Then there was a knock at her door. She quickly opened it to see Nakajima. "Come along we mustn't keep him waiting." He told her.

"Of course." She nodded.

She followed Nakajima out the manor and to her surprise to a car he opened the door for her which she thanked and went inside Nakajima driving them away. "Um Nakajima-san aren't we going to see Reiji-san?" She asked.

"We are to meet the president in his office." He told her.

President? She thought.

Soon they stopped in front of a large building. She looked at it in awe as she stepped out of the car. "Leo Corp?" She read.

"Leo Corporation is a gaming company founded here in Maiami City." Nakajima told her, as they walked inside and to an elevator. "It was this company that created Solid Vision which brought upon Action Duels along to having the world's number 1 share in duel systems."

She couldn't help but gap by this as they stepped out of the elevator and down a hall. "So uh why are we in an important building like this?" She asked weakly, as they reached a door.

"Because Leo Corporation's CEO, the president, wishes to speak with you." Nakajima replied, opening the door.

Nariko looked inside to see Reiji Akaba sitting at the desk. You have to be kidding me…! She thought.

"I brought her President." Nakajima spoke.

"Thank you Nakajima you may go." Reiji replied.

Nakajima nodded and left as she looked at Reiji with a sweatdrop and smile as she walked inside the office while Nakajima closed the door. "CEO of a large company now I've seen everything." She admitted.

"Maybe not." He replied lightly.

"Huh?" She questioned.

He looked at her for a moment before speaking. "I have done investigations in order to learn where you came from." He told her. "But there have been no reports for you."

"So I'm not from this City." She remarked.

"To be accurate." He replied. "You're not from this dimension."

Nariko blinked in shock for a moment before speaking. "Excuse me?" She finally questioned.

"You're not from the Standard Dimension and judging by your deck you're from the Xyz Dimension." He began.

"W-Wait a minute." She quickly said. "Standard, Xyz Dimension? This all seems a bit surreal you have to admit."

"Yet you seem to feel I'm not inaccurate." He remarked.

She flinched, rubbing her arm. "I… I'm not one to cross out the possibility since I have amnesia." She admitted. "But without proof it's really hard to believe."

"And I agree with you." He nodded, getting up from his chair. "Come with me?"

She followed him confused to what looked to be a lift, they both stepped on it and she gasped as they were lowered down and she was shocked upon seeing a lab before them. "A-Amazing…" Nariko gasped, as she followed Reiji.

Then she saw a differently shaped purple duel disk on an examination table and cracks on the screen and body. "That's…" She began.

You had this duel disk on when we brought you but it was damaged." He told her. "We have analyzed it along with your deck."

"To make sure I wasn't a threat." She stated, with a pale face.

"That's right." He confirmed.

She looked up at him. "Why are you telling me this then?" She questioned.

"Because it will benefit both of us." He said.

"What?" She blinked.

Nariko sat in the office in front of Reiji who was unsurprised by her shocked expression. "I take it, it's a lot to take in." He remarked.

"A bit." She admitted. "Invasion from Fusion, attacks on other dimensions, even the possibility of my own…!"

"Which is why it's in the best interest of you working alongside me." He replied.

She looked at him with a confused skeptical look. "You trust me so easily? For all you know even with my deck I could be a spy for Academia." She frowned.

"All the more reason to keep you close." He stated nonchalantly, making her sweatdrop. "But I believe that isn't the case with you."

At this she looked at him shocked. "What?" She gaped.

"I've seen you with Reira." He told her, making her jump in surprise. "Reira has never truly shown emotion like she has with you. Not only that but it's obvious you've grown attached to her and it's the same for her. And I'm sure no member of Academia can be as kind as you."

She grew wide eyed and couldn't help but flush by his words. "You're… Very straightforward with your words." She muttered.

"I feel it helps in most cases." He said. "So will you accept?"

She was silent, clasping her hands tightly before she spoke up. "You said… There was a possibility that Academia had gone to attack my dimension." She spoke.

He looked at her and nodded. "It's the most likely reason as to why you're here." He replied.

My home… My family…. Even comrades and friends… She thought. Even if I don't remember I…

She steeled herself as she sat straight and looked at Reiji forward. "Alright I'll accept your offer if it means helping everyone back home then I'll do whatever it takes Akaba-san." She spoke.

"Then it will be a great asset to us both Nariko." He nodded.

"Oi Nana!"

Nariko turned to face Hokuto, Masumi, and Yaiba walking to her. "Want to come with us to the shopping district?" Yaiba asked.

"Sorry I have to get to work." Nariko smiled apologetically. "Maybe next time."

"Being Reiji Akaba's assistant and being a student here in LDS must take a toll on you." Hokuto remarked with a frown.

Nariko smiled touching her LDS badge pin on her blazer. "Not at all I can handle it." She assured.

"Well try to find a good chance to hang out with us." Masumi replied, before she smirked. "Can't always have your eyes on your boss."

Nariko blushed dark red. "It's not like that!" She shrieked.

"Sure." Hokuto and Yaiba rolled their eyes.

"Ugh! I have to go see you guys tomorrow." She quickly said.

Nariko ran off quickly to Leo Corp coming inside to see Nakajima. "Hello Nakajima, Reiji-kun expecting me?" She asked.

"Yes he and Reira-sama are waiting for you in the lab." He nodded, before glancing at her. "Teased again I take it?"

She blushed before she scowled. "Don't you start." She retorted.

Nariko went off down the hall before reaching the elevator and went in, pressing the button to go down to the lab. She walked in saying hello to the scientists before seeing Reiji and Reira as they looked up. "Nariko-neesan." Reira called, running to her.

Nariko smiled hugging Reira as Reiji walked to her. "Good you arrived now let's get to work." He said.

She smiled giving a nod. "Right."
