You're The One For Me
Song: You're the One For Me by Dondria, Midnight Sky by Miley Cyrus Rain on Me by Lady Gaga & Ariana Grande
I stumbled upon this story on my flash drive and thought I could do much better. So here is a 10-year update for you. South of Nowhere's Ashley and Spencer are still one of my favorite love stories. They were around when I was first coming out and gave me something to lean on and embrace.
Years later, TV has changed drastically, and I know this show had a small part to do with that. I will forever be grateful. Please enjoy a look into my version of the dynamic pair.
"She is going to kill me." I was meant to be at the Stadium over an hour ago, but instead, I was held back by my final clients of the day, due to very trivial issues.
As a relationship counselor at The Center of Hope, you would think that I would know better than to schedule a session so close to my departure time. But another day another lesson learned.
The couple responsible for holding me up are regulars, who enjoy spending sessions debating rather than listening to my advice and guidance. Therefore, not only was I running late, but I just wasted an hour and a half of my life!
I quickly pushed my terrible session and clients to the back of my mind, as I pulled up to the stadium. Jumping directly out of the car as I stopped, I almost forgot to put the car in park. Wouldn't that be great?
"Someone is running late it seems." The bodyguard, Brad, says as he lets me in the door. He did not know the end of it, and I would not hear the end of it if she found out I was late.
I thanked Brad, as he escorted me to the private box that held the rest of our family and friends.
"There you are! What took you so long?" my mother asks as I lean in to give her a quick hug before turning to my mother-in-law to do the same.
"Let's just say that not all marriages are worth saving," I say, raising a brow that hopefully provided the full story. They knew how stressful my job could be and we did not need to go into many details as tonight was about her.
"Does she know I am late?" I ask, hoping for the negative because dealing with that tonight was not on my to-do list. I noticed my mother raise a brow and I asked, "how many calls?"
"She has called her mom about 5 times in the last 20 minutes," my mom smirkingly stated.
"Well let's hope Brad lets her know I made it," I say before noticing the lights dim. I guess I made it right in time. Maybe that would save me from the discussion tonight.
The crowd at Sofi Stadium erupted into pandemonium. I mean it's not every day you get to stand in line for hours, buy ridiculously expensive snacks, then push your way to your seats to see your favorite rock star. After all that, I think I'd wildly cheer too. Only in hopes that she would pay me a little more attention.
I knew how important her fans were to her and how much she appreciated their unwavering support. So, I was sure she would put on a show they would never forget. Not going to lie, my girl is Good.
I watched as the lights flashed on the stage in multiple directions. Each light focusing on a musician as they started in with a remarkably familiar tune. I continued to watch for signs of her, but she had yet to hit the stage. Suddenly the lights dropped, and the crowd grew quiet.
"La-la, la-la, la" could be heard before smoke covered the center of the stage and the spotlight was on the figure rising from center stage.
Yeah, it's been a long night and the mirror's tellin' me to go home
And there she was, as beautiful as the last time I saw her in person three months ago.
Three months ago, she started her World Tour, but that was all ending tonight here in Los Angeles. So, you could say the audience was going crazy as they knew this was it.
The midnight sky is the road I'm takin'
Head high up in the clouds
Oh
"I was born to run, I don't belong to anyone, oh no. I don't need to be loved by you." I sang along. I remember first hearing this song in the studio, quickly turning around only for her to confirm she had not written that particular song. Which was a good thing after really listening to the lyrics. Either way, she knew how to sell it.
She got her hair pulled back 'cause the sweat's drippin' off of her face
Said it ain't so bad if I wanna make a couple mistakes
You should know right now that I never stay put in one place
Forever and ever, no more
"So how excited are you for this to be over?" I looked behind me at Kyla.
"I don't think there is a word for this type of excitement," I replied before taking a sip of my nearby water.
"Yea there is, Horny." She let slip out almost causing me to spit water all over her.
"Stop," I said slapping her arm, "there is so much more than just that."
Kyla laughs before turning back as the next song was ending.
"How's everyone doing tonight?" Is heard from the stage while the crowd wildly screams.
"You're hot!"
"Marry me!"
"Ha, as great as that offer might be, I am going to have to pass. I don't think my wife would like that very much." She responded, looking up towards the box I was sitting in. I could see a mischievous smirk on her face. I am not quite sure if she could see me, but I shook my head in the negative in response.
"I am so happy I get to end my tour with you here in my hometown. Los Angeles let me hear you," She yelled into the microphone! I am not sure she finished her statement before the crowd started to erupt in cheer.
"I want to thank you all for coming out tonight. You will never know how much I appreciate your support in all that I do. I have the best fans," she declared as the crowd continued to scream.
Walking towards the side of the stage, she continued to talk to the crowd. "Okay, so there is someone here tonight that has supported me since before I knew this was my dream," She said while grabbing an acoustic before starting to walk back to center stage where a stool had been set up. "And while I don't usually do this, tonight you are going to be the first to hear my new song."
The crowd went wild as she continued. "I know right! But get this, not only is this a new one, but it was written for the love of my life." She smiled as she looked towards the box where we were sitting.
"Aww," could be heard from the crowd causing her to blush.
"What can I say, I'm a romantic," she laughed before getting serious again. "Okay so, Spence this is for you."
************************************Third POV******************************
The spotlight dimed on the singer center stage as she started in on her acoustic.
I don't believe that we were put together not to be together
And I don't believe there's anyone out there that can love me better
I don't believe that you know how much I miss seeing your pretty smile.
Of course we had our ups and downs
But I gotta have you around me cause
The first day of high school is a milestone. Not only was Spencer Carlin new to the 9th grade, but she was new to Los Angeles. Recently relocating to the area with her parents, brother, and sister from Ohio.
So as exciting as high school could be, Spencer was nervous that she would have a hard time making friends. The only bright side was that it was at least the actual first day and she didn't have to start in the middle of the year.
Spencer watched as her older brother, Glen, jumped out of the car to head towards campus. Glen was starting his junior year, but as he was stuck on himself and the belief that everyone wanted him, he was the least bit nervous about being the new kid.
"Well, I guess it is just us then," Mrs. Carlin said to her daughter after watching her son disappear from their sight. "I want you to have a great first day," she stated leaning over to kiss Spencer on the forehead.
Spencer could see tears forming in her mother's eyes. As she did not want a scene, she quickly jumped out of the car, "Bye mom. Have a great day Dylan." She waved as they pulled away towards the middle school. Dylan, her sister, still had one more year.
While getting herself together to head towards the school, she noticed a brunette girl hop out of a black SUV. She waved at her mom before rushing towards campus.
She was not sure what made her focus on the girl. Maybe the skinny jeans and a band tee. Or maybe it was the wavy hair, but for some reason, Spencer followed her with her eyes until she stopped in front of a brunette boy.
"Hey Aiden," she screamed wrapping herself around him because she had missed her best friend all summer. As she had spent the summer in Europe with her mother and sister Kyla.
"Man, Ash you are going to mess up my fit," Aiden groaned while dusting off his clothes.
"Whatever, you know you missed me," Ashley stated while punching him in the arm.
"Always. So, how was your summer? Are you excited to be in high school? Is your sister upset she is still in middle school?" Aiden excitedly asked without taking a breath.
"Great. I guess. And she hates it," Ashley answered in question order.
Aiden laughed before looking around campus. While looking around he spotted Spencer who had just started to walk further towards the school area they were standing in. "Man look at her," he hit Ashley's arm to get her attention on the girl in the white skirt and navy polo.
"Really Aiden, already? It's the first day of school." Leave it to Aiden to notice a potential date on the first day of school. But Ashley had too if she was being honest. The girl was cute.
Aiden ignored Ashley's statement as he started to walk towards the girl. Not wanting to be left behind, Ashley caught up with him.
Spencer noticed the girl from earlier walking towards her or at least it looked like she was because she was looking at Spencer.
"Excited for the first day," Aiden said to Spencer once they were in the same area.
Spencer smiled at the guy before responding, "Umm I guess."
"Cool. I'm Aiden," he stated and pointed to Ashley, "This is Ashley my best friend."
Ashley waved towards the blonde waiting for Aiden to finish his questions. She knew what was next since he did this a lot.
"Nice to meet you both. I'm Spencer."
"Cute. So do you have a boyfriend, Spencer?" Aiden asked getting straight to the point.
Spencer smiled at Aiden and then looked over at Ashley, who had yet to say one word. The question was a weird one for just meeting someone on the first day of school. Plus, Spencer did not want to be honest as she did not know these two yet. Keeping it simple she responded, "No boyfriends for me."
She noticed Aiden smile and tap Ashley's arm in some form of confirmation.
"That's great. So, what do you think about sitting with me for lunch" Aiden excitedly asked loving where this was going? The first day of school and he already had a love interest.
Spencer blushed, "We will see, but right now I need to go find my first class as I was not able to make the tour of the school." She waved to them both walking away.
Spencer could see that Aiden was interested in her. She could also see that he could not tell she wasn't interested in him at all. She would of much rather heard Ashley say something. She was not going to lie, she had been wondering what her voice sounded like since she saw her get out of the car.
During 2nd period class, Spencer got her answer, as Ashley walked in noticing her sitting next to an empty seat before plopping down into that said seat.
"Hi, Spencer right?" Ashley asked looking directly at the blonde. Her voice was better than Spencer imagined. Raspy and cute.
"Yes, Spencer."
"Cool. I'm Ashley. We met earlier when I was with my best friend." Ashley informed her just in case she didn't remember the awkward conversation and lunch invite from earlier.
She had to admit, she was excited to see someone she knew in her 2nd-period class. She was even more excited to know Aiden would not be in the class to ruin it.
"Yea, I remember. Your friend invited me to lunch," Spencer replied.
"Sorry about him. He really can't help it when he sees a pretty girl." Ashley told Spencer as she started to pull school items out of her bag missing the blush on Spencer's cheeks. "But, if you want to have lunch with us, you are more than welcome. I will make sure he is not a weirdo."
Spencer laughed, "Thanks."
"So what school did you go to before here?"
"I'm from Ohio, actually. We just moved here 2 weeks ago."
"Ohio? Man, that sounds so far away from LA. What is it like to live so far away from home? I mean I have lived in LA all of my life." Ashley asked as she was interested in learning about the girl in the white skirt.
"It hasn't been that bad. The scariest part is having to make new friends." Spencer responded noticing the class starting to fill up.
"Well fear no more because Ashley is here to be your friend." Ashley stretched her arms wide while grinning causing Spencer to laugh.
Ashley's silliness caused her bang to fall out of place. Before either one of them could even think about it, Ashley felt Spencer touch her face as she moved the bang behind Ashley's ear.
Spencer noticed what she had done and quickly pulled her hand away causing Ashley's smile to widen.
They both quietly turned to the front of the class as the teacher started to talk. Continuing, throughout class, to steal glances whenever they didn't think the other one would notice.
I feel it all over my body
I dream about you when I sleep
You're the one for me
You're the one for me
All the signs say that
Ever since the day that we laid eyes on each other baby
You're the one for me
You're the one for me
The friendship between the two girls quickly blossomed into something more. They both could feel the difference in their relationship compared to that with other friends. Ashley quickly became Spencer's best friend and Spencer became Ashley's only focus.
Everyone around them noticed how close the two girls were. The all-night phone calls and sleepovers almost every weekend. The constant giggling, and the goodbye hugs that lingered longer each time they hugged.
Ashley still had her friendship with Aiden as the three were often together, but Spencer was everything. After the first day, she could always be found talking about Spencer or to Spencer. This at first drove Aiden mad because Spencer was clearly not interested in him. This didn't however deter his interest in her.
Ashley knew how much Aiden liked Spencer, but that did not stop her from falling for her too.
She felt like the worse best friend, but the thought of not being around Spencer was painful enough that she pushed every other feeling of guilt behind her.
She'd admitted to herself, months ago that she wanted so much more than friendship with Spencer. Now she just had to find the right time and place to make it happen.
"Hey Spence," she smiled as Spencer joined them for lunch. She had been running late as she had a debate club meeting right before.
Spencer dropped down in her seat, "Hi," smiling towards Ashley before quickly glancing at Aiden. "I am so sorry I'm late. The debate club has a meet next week so we had a quick chat before lunch, to plan. You are coming to the meet right, Ash?" Spencer hoped Ashley could make the meet, as she was not able to make the last one.
"I promised I would be at the next one and you know I never break my promises to you," Ashley replied truthfully. She hated debate club and the meets were so boring, but Spencer was always so cute during her debates, so Ashley attended most of them. She actually went to most of the things Spencer did.
Spencer smiled at her response while leaning over to brush Ashley's bang behind her ear. Something she often did without thought.
She knew how devoted Ashley was to her and she was just the same with her. Ashley had consumed her mind since the first day of school. She loved the way she smiled, the crinkle on her nose, her soft snores as she slept, the way she felt in her arms when they hugged or cuddled. There was just so much she loved about Ashley. Spencer knew it had to be more than just friends because she did not feel that way about any of her other friends. She honestly could say she was in love with Ashley Davies and she did not know how long she would last before telling her.
"I can come too, next week," Aiden spoke up hating to be ignored by the two. He honestly had to find some more friends.
Ashley glanced at Aiden as Spencer dropped her hand from Ashley's face. "Cool. Spencer will have both of her best friends cheering her on," she replied wondering when Aiden decided to attend a meet as he hadn't before. She wondered if he was still trying to find a way to get Spencer to go out with him. The thought alone unnerved her as Ashley wanted Spencer for herself. She just had to find the courage to tell Aiden.
"Actually Aiden, it's the same night as your basketball game according to Glen," Spencer responded thinking that it was weird for Aiden to even volunteer to come. He never came to her events.
"Oh, I guess I can't make it," he sadly stated. He was hoping that showing more support for Spencer clubs could get him closer to that date.
Ashley tried to hide her smile, as she started in on the perfect opportunity. Turning to Spencer, "Why don't we grab dinner after the debate? I can have my mom drop us at your favorite restaurant." Okay, so it wasn't exactly a date, but it was close and got her out of Aiden thinking it was a date before she talked to him.
"That sounds perfect Ashley," Spencer widely smiled in response causing Ashley to grin. Which caused Spencer to blush as she noticed Ashley's cute nose crinkle.
Aiden looked back and forth between the girls wondering if maybe he had been missing this the whole time. He knew Ashley was into Spencer. I mean it did not take much to know Spencer had her completely whipped. But, what he just noticed there was that Spencer was maybe into Ashley just as much.
Aiden's eyes bugged out at the two girls. He had completely missed this over the last few months. I mean Ashley told him she was into girls back in 7th grade, so he knew he was reading her right. But, how did he miss that Spencer was into Ashley maybe more than Ashley was into her? He really had been wasting the past 6 months trying to get a girl who was clearly not interested. He needed more friends.
Ashley nervously set and watched Spencer as her group got ready to present their response. She had to be honest that she wasn't really focusing on the event as she was too busy thinking about the date afterward. Well, a date that she did not quite tell Spencer about. She wanted to tell her, especially after Aiden let her know he was fine with her being interested in Spencer. Now with no guilt in sight, she just had to work up the nerves to let Spencer know how much she loved her. She might have only been 14, but she knew that Spencer was more than just her first crush. You could not possibly be this sick to your stomach over a crush.
"So are you excited for your dinner after this," Ashley's mom asked from next to her. She had decided to stay and watch Spencer speak before dropping them to dinner. Christina knew how much her daughter liked Spencer. I mean it was plainly obvious to everyone around her. Ashley didn't really cover her emotions well. And when you looked at Ashley, you saw a young girl in love for the first time. Christina couldn't wait for when Ashley could look at Spencer and see that she was just as in love with her.
"I am so nervous mom. I mean this is my first date and she doesn't even know it's a date," she responded chewing on her bottom lip. "How do I tell her that she is all I think about? And when I sleep, she is the only thing in my dreams? How do you tell her that she is the one?"
Christina thought for a moment about all this. This was all so new for her daughter and she knew how hard first loves could be. But Christina had to really step back and look at this because what Ashley explained was more than just a 14-year-old with a crush. Her daughter sounded like a girl in love for the last time.
"I mean she is my best friend, and I don't want to scare her away because I can't be without her in my life," Ashley continued to talk without thinking as she was just that nervous. "So, do I just let this be dinner or do I finally tell Spencer that she is everything to me?" Ashley turned to her mother with worried eyes. The debate was quickly forgotten as her emotions took over. She hoped she could get it together before Spencer's turn.
"Hey, it will all work out exactly as it was meant to work out. The two of you are too close to scare each other away. I know it can be scary to love someone, but wouldn't it be nice if that love was returned? I mean you know how important Spencer is to you. Wouldn't it be nice to know how important you are to Spencer? You can go out tonight and act as if you are friends or you can finally tell her how you feel and be so much more. It is all up to you Ashley." Christina noticed Ashley thinking about what she had said before turning towards the front. Spencer was finally taking her turn.
"Social media is the most powerful tool in the 21st century. It has a reach to billions of people instantly. We believe this reach is what makes Social media more powerful than News media. Take for example…" Ashley hung on to every word Spencer spoke. She hated these debates, but she had to admit that listening to Spencer talk about anything was better than not listening to her talk.
"…This power alone is why we believe that Social media is more dangerous than News media. Thank you," Spencer smiled as she ended her response.
"Go, Spence!" Ashley screamed from her seat causing Spencer to blush and wave quickly walking back to her seat. Ashley did this at every debate she attended so Spencer was accustomed to her antics, but it always caused her to smile and look away.
"Well, Spencer really knows how to move a crowd," Christina said to her daughter.
Looking towards her mom, Ashley smiled, "Well she is the best debater on the team. Honestly, the rest of them could have just let Spence speak for them." She noticed Spencer looking over at her so she gave her the double thumbs up making Spencer laugh.
Christina smiled. Leave it to Ashley to say that Spencer should be the whole team. She was clearly in love.
"Okay girls, just text me when you two are ready. I am going to do some shopping while you enjoy your dinner." Ashley's mom stated as she pulled up to Touch of Italy.
"Thanks, mom"
"Thanks, Mrs. Davies," Spencer nervously said stepping out of the SUV. This would be their first-time having dinner alone. She couldn't lie, she was beyond nervous.
But, Spencer's nerves couldn't even compare to what Ashley was going through. She was barely keeping it together as she walked up to give their reservation. Ashley still had to work up the nerve to inform Spencer that she thought of this as a first date. I mean she didn't dress up just to watch Spencer debate. She didn't spend hours at the mall searching for the perfect black ensemble. Spencer liked her in black.
Once both girls were seated, they ordered their drinks before picking up the menus to browse.
Before Spencer could even look over the selections, "Umm Spence."
Spencer looked up at Ashley, "Yes, Ash."
"You were awesome at your debate. I mean you are always awesome. I was so excited I could make this one. Even more excited to have dinner with you afterward."
"Thank you, Ashley. I was excited that you could come too. And this dinner idea was the icing on the cake.
"Great. I am glad you agreed to go," Ashley responded still filled with nervousness. She wanted to tell Spencer about her plans before they ordered but was having a hard time bringing it up.
"What are you thinking of ordering Ashley?" Spencer asked looking back at the menu.
"Umm. Spence this is a date." Ashley blurted out without thinking or even hearing what Spencer asked.
Spencer looked up from the menu to stare into Ashley's eyes. Had Ashley just said date? I mean Spencer had been pretending this was a date since day one, but she never thought Ashley was thinking the same thing. She never thought Ashley would even want to date her.
"I'm so sorry Spencer, I should have asked you instead of just assuming. I wanted to ask but didn't want to hurt Aiden's feelings since he was right there. I have always wanted to ask you out." Ashley continued to talk without thinking. "I like you a lot Spence." She quickly closed her mouth and looked up at Spencer who had yet to say anything since the first confession.
Ashley was now scared because Spencer wasn't talking and she couldn't read her at all. She had not meant to say all that, especially the part about liking Spencer, but her mouth tended to run away from her when she was nervous. "Spence?"
Spencer quickly popped out of whatever trance she was in upon hearing her name. This was a date. Ashley liked her a lot. She was still trying to wrap her head around that but felt Ashley deserved a response.
"This is a date? Like a real date?"
"I mean I didn't mean to say it that way. I was thinking I would at least ask if this could be considered a first date, instead of just friends? But yea my words ran away, as they usually do."
"I have never been on a date, Ash," Spencer responded nervously. She didn't know if she was expected to act differently now that this was a date.
"Neither have I. I wanted you to be my first date and I was hoping I could be yours."
"You also said that you liked me a lot," Spencer was trying to clear the fog forming in her head. Ashley likes me, she thought.
Ashley was beyond nervous to admit how true that statement was. She had never meant to say that when asking for a date, but now that she had and Spencer had noticed, she wouldn't take it back.
"Spencer, I like you a lot. I always have. And I am not talking about a best friend like. This is like like." Ashley hoped her responses cleared everything up. I mean she could say more, but she didn't want to scare Spencer with the I am in love with you speech.
"Okay then. This is our first date," Spencer smiled over at Ashley noticing her relax just a little.
"Oh and Ash?"
"Yes?"
"I like you a lot too." Spencer blushed noticing Ashley's nose crinkle as she smiled.
I don't believe that you know how much I melt every time I smell your scent girl
"I could lie here with you forever Spence," Ashley whispered into her girlfriend's ear as they lay cuddled in bed listening to Ashley's new mixtape. Spencer was the perfect little spoon.
"You're a big sap, baby" Spencer smiled before turning to kiss Ashley on her lips. The kiss started off as a simple connection but, quickly turned into more as Ashley bit Spencer's bottom lip. She could never get enough of that girl.
The two had been dating for over two years and Ashley was head over heels in love. She couldn't help but touch Spencer, kiss her, caress her, fulfill her every second of every day.
"Mmm," Spencer moaned as Ashley continued to kiss down her neck, just below her ear. An area discovered during one of Ashley's Kiss every spot on Spencer fests. Not only did it cause Spencer to pull Ashley further into her, but it also made the heat between them unbearable.
The heat that Ashley could clearly feel now, as she rolled on top of Spencer. "Spread your legs for me, babe," she whispered into Spencer's ear.
Spencer quickly complied. The skirt she was currently wearing wasn't much barrier against Ashley's own shorts. "Fuck baby you're soaked," Ashley breathed out feeling Spencer moisture on her thigh.
"You make me," Spencer moaned against Ashley's lips triggering a groan from her girlfriend.
"Ash…ley," Kyla called while walking into her sister's room unannounced. "Oh no. I'm so sorry."
Ashley turned, clearly annoyed, towards her sister. "Get out!"
Completely unfazed by finding Spencer wrapped around Ashley, "What! I said sorry. You should learn to lock a door if you're fucking your girlfriend." Kyla smirked seeing Spencer pull her face into Ashley's neck completely embarrassed.
Ashley, ever so confidently, grinned at her sister at the door. "I shouldn't have to lock my door. Just assume, if Spencer is here, this might not be a great time to barge in."
This was not the first time Kyla had walked in on them. In fact, it wasn't even the worse time. No, the worse time would be finding your sister's head between her girlfriend's thighs. The thought alone still creeped Kyla out.
"Anyway," Kyla continued, "Mom sent me up here to get you two for dinner. Ha. Imagine if she walked in." Kyla laughed while closing her sister's door.
Turning back towards the girl still in her arms, "Sorry about that baby. You know how she is."
"Yea," Spencer responded still a little embarrassed at being caught by Ashley's sister.
"So where were we," Ashley spoke while running her hand down Spencer's arm.
"Ash, we don't have time for that now" Spencer groaned. "I told my mom I would be home after dinner tonight. So, I think we should at least make an appearance at this dinner."
Spencer's words caused Ashley to pull back some and frown down at the girl. "No, you're sleeping over tonight. There is no way we are not finishing this."
"I wish I could, but I promised my mom that I would be home tonight. I've been here almost every night this week," Spencer sadly responded.
"I don't care," Ashley pouted, "I still want you to sleep over, Spence." Almost every night going to sleep with Spencer wrapped in her arms was still not enough nights for Ashley. Call her stubborn but she wanted her girlfriend with her all the time.
"Baby, I'm sorry, but I really need to go home tonight," Spencer responded while pushing Ashley up so she could get herself together for dinner. "Dylan said they are starting to forget what I look like," she laughed.
"Send them a picture," Ashley stubbornly replied still not looking forward to sleeping in her bed alone that night. The lavender scent alone would kill her. "Fuck baby, I cannot sleep in this bed tonight without you," she groaned while pushing her face into the pillow Spencer had just moved from. Ashley could never get enough of Spencer's scent. She always smelled like lavender, no matter the time of day. Her aroma surrounded Ashley. Nope, she would not be sleeping in this bed alone driving herself crazy.
"Okay," Ashley jumped up to clear her head, "if you are not staying here tonight, then I am going with you," she finished while grabbing an overnight bag to throw some stuff in.
Spencer smiled while walking to pull the girl into her arms. "I love you," she murmured brushing Ashley's bang behind her ear.
And I don't believe, I got myself in this predicament
I'm sorry
For everything I ever did wrong
I'm sorry
And I'm begging you, begging you, begging you, baby please come back home
Spencer exhaustedly walked into the campus lounge to grab a quick snack before running to her psychology group meeting for her sophomore dissertation.
She had just spent 2 hours listening to her Sociology professor discuss racial divides in media and she was not looking forward to spending all night in the lab arguing with her group members on what would make a great clinical topic. She would much rather be cuddled up in her girlfriend's arms.
A girlfriend she had recently been neglecting due to her course load this semester. Spencer was excited that the semester was nearly over, as she was not sure how many more nights, she could go without devouring Ashley. She was addicted, Spencer thought while looking around the lounge.
Doing a double-take, she noticed Ashley sitting off in the corner with Sam, a fellow music major. The two were sitting a little closer together than Spencer liked to see. Most likely they were discussing song selections for their next presentation.
She was heading over to say hello when she noticed Sam's hand come up to brush the bang out of Ashley's eyes and behind her ear causing Ashley to look up and lock eyes with Sam who was smiling back at her while removing her hand. Too studded to react, Ashley glanced behind Sam causing her to notice Spencer standing a few feet directly behind. She had obviously witnessed the action and based on the broken expression on her face, she had been hurt.
Ashley quickly jumped up not wanting Spencer to think she was okay with Sam's gesture or that it was more than just this one time. She started towards Spencer, but before she could take two steps, Spencer turned and bolted out of the door.
"Fuck," Ashley yelled, turning back to Sam, "Why would you do that?"
"Calm down Ashley, it was innocent," Sam reacted, unnerved by Ashley's anger. "I mean she couldn't be upset about a simple touch."
"She could! I would!" Ashley shouted, before running to hopefully catch up with Spencer.
While this wasn't the first time Sam had made a pass at Ashley, this was the first time she had done something that was an intimate gesture reserved for Spencer. That was their thing.
Ashley met Sam during her freshman year. Sam joined her music appreciation class two weeks into the semester and spent the entire lecture flirting with Ashley. She really couldn't blame Sam, just look at her. Ashley let her flirt and ask questions throughout the class period, but as soon as class was released, she grabbed her items to rush out and catch Spencer before her class dismissed.
They both would have an hour to spare before heading to their next class. Ashley had discovered there was a lot she could do to Spencer during their hour break. A whole lot.
"Hey, wait up," Sam called trying to catch up with the speed walker. "You couldn't possibly be rushing to your next class. No one is that excited for an education."
Ashley slowed down to her normal pace since she could see Spencer's building close by. "Yea, not my next class. Just someone I want to catch before their class ends," She responded while stopping to wait in front of the English building.
Sam smirked, "A boyfriend?"
"Never," Ashley returned finally noticing Spencer. "Spence!"
She watched as Spencer's eyes connected with hers tilting her head to give Ashley that smile, she loved so much. A look that only Spencer could pull off. A smile that melted Ashley on the spot.
"Friend?" Sam asked noticing the girl walking over towards them.
"Nope," Ashley responded to Sam with little attention as her focus was on why it was taking so long for Spencer's lips to connect with hers. Could you blame her? She had not seen her girlfriend since last night.
"Hey you," Spencer said finally reaching Ashley, who took no time pulling Spencer into a much-needed kiss. Mmm, she had missed those lips this morning as Spencer had to be up and out before she even rolled over.
Sam stood back smirking at the two girls. Well, she could clearly see Ashley played for her team. Which meant getting her wouldn't be as hard as she had assumed.
Completely forgetting Sam was still standing there, "Babe, we are so skipping lunch," she murmured against Spencer's lips. Who needs lunch anyway?
Ashley nibbled on Spencer's bottom lip before releasing it. She grabbed Spencer's sack, tossing it on her shoulder while placing her arm around her girlfriend's waist.
Spencer, leaning into Ashley, finally noticed that they were not alone. "Oh, hi," she said to a clearly amused Sam.
Ashley annoyingly looked up, as she noticed she had lost Spencer's focus. "Oh yea, this is Sam. She's in my music appreciation class. And this," She started while grinning at Spencer "is the love of my life, Spencer." She didn't usually introduce Spencer in such a way, but she was hoping to make it clear to Sam that she never stood a chance.
"Cute," Sam replied. "It's nice to meet you, Spencer. I can definitely tell why you are the love of her life," Sam stated while looking Spencer up and down causing Spencer to blush.
"Thanks," Spencer blushed not knowing much else to say to the girl. She felt a little uncomfortable with the way Sam was looking at her. Or maybe it was the firm grip of Ashley's hand on her waist.
"You are more than welcome," Sam smiled at Spencer while peeking at Ashley who was clearly angered by Sam's flirting.
"Yea, so as nice as this is," Ashley said looking at Sam. "We have somewhere to be," she finished starting to walk away with Spencer.
Sam watched the girls walk off, "This is going to be fun."
Ashley looked around the court in the center of campus, trying to think of where Spencer could possibly be. Remembering that Spencer, had a group meeting in the Psychology lab, she quickly ran in that direction. She just hoped Spencer was calm enough to believe that nothing was going on with Sam. The thought alone made her sick to her stomach. Ashley would never hurt Spencer in that way.
She walked into the Psychology building, while she didn't see Spencer, she did notice Jade, one of Spencer's friends. "Jade," Ashley called out while walking into the Psy lab, "have you heard from Spencer? She said she would be in lab around this time."
"Yea, she is meeting us here to go over our topic choices," Jade replied to the frantic looking girlfriend of one of her friends. "I'm a little early, so she isn't here yet."
"Thanks," Ashley responded. So maybe Spencer would still show up. It wasn't like her skip a meeting. "I will just wait outside the lab, to catch her," Ashley said turning to leave noticing Spencer walking in with another girl, "Spence," she exclaimed rushing over to Spencer.
Spencer wasn't surprised to see that Ashley had followed her. She excused herself from her lab partner and walked into the hall as far away from the lab room as she could get. Not wanting too much attention on whatever Ashley had to say. Honestly, Spencer was barely keeping it together and had hoped Ashley would at least save this for later.
"Baby, it is not what you think," Ashley exclaiming stopping in front of Spencer.
"Can we please not do this right now?" Spencer whispered not wanting to draw attention.
"Baby, it wasn't anything, I swear," Ashley kept going. "You know I wouldn't do that to you," she continued standing close to Spencer. "We were comparing music and I…"
"Stop," Spencer interrupted, "I can't do this now. I have lab."
"I don't care about that, Spencer," Ashley shouted.
"Well I do," Spencer angrily said before turning away from Ashley to calm herself. "We can talk about this later. I really need to get back," she declared starting to walk back towards the psychology lab.
Before she could get too far, Ashley grabbed her arm, "Please don't walk away from me Spencer. Nothing happened."
Pulling her arm away, "She touched you," screamed Spencer. "She touched you and you let her," she continued, "Please let's just discuss this later. Please."
Ashley was taken back by Spencer's anger. While understood, it wasn't something she was used to when it came to her girlfriend. It unnerved her just how bad this might be. "I didn't let her touch me. I would never. You have to let me explain. Baby, you know me. I wouldn't do anything like that."
Spencer having had enough of this, "Okay fine, you want to do this now." She pulled Ashley outside of the lab building. "Ashley you know how much Sam wants you. You know this and to see her so close to you that in one move her lips would be on yours. So close that she could reach out to caress your cheek. Closer than I would ever feel comfortable with someone else being. You could have stopped it," she cried.
"It's not like that," Ashley exclaimed. "Spencer I am so sorry if that is what you are thinking, but you are so wrong. I would never let her kiss me. I did not want her touch. I am so sorry you had to see that, but baby please believe me when I say, I don't want her. I want you. I will always want you," she finished hoping Spencer could get out of her head long enough to understand her.
"This isn't about if you want me. I'm not so insecure that I don't know you want me," she responded noticing Ashley slightly smile at that comment. "No this is about why was she close enough in the first place. Think about that. I have to go." She quickly said before turning to walk back into the building.
Ashley watched the door close behind Spencer, before turning to sit on a nearby bench.
"Hey, you left this," Sam said holding Ashley's bag out to her. She was the last person Ashley wanted to see right now.
Ashley tore the bag out of Sam's hand. "You have no idea what you have done. You don't even care."
"You are so wrong. You don't know how much I care," Sam responded setback by the anger she could feel coming from Ashley. "I like you, Ashley. Okay, maybe I shouldn't have taken something Spencer does and tried to use it to get you to notice me. That was wrong, but…"
"Wait, you knew," Ashley interrupted, "You knew how special that was for us and you still did it? Fuck you, Sam."
"Fuck me?" Sam yelled, "No Fuck you Ashley. You can believe what you want, but I am not the only one who has been flirting this past year."
"Me giving you any of my attention was never me flirting with you. You clearly don't know the difference between friendship and interest." Ashley stood up to be sure she was facing Sam directly, "I will never want you. I will never want to be with you"
"Whatever," Sam sadly replied, "let's just move past this. I am done chasing after you. So, let's forget it." Sam pleaded.
"Forget it?" Ashley replied not believing what she heard. "I will never forget what you did. But you better pray Spencer forgives me because if she doesn't you haven't even seen my anger." Ashley finished turning to walk towards her car. She would just wait for Spencer at home. She had to come home sometime.
"This is a surprise," Paula Carlin said noticing her eldest daughter walking into the door. "You didn't say you were stopping by."
Spencer had hoped everyone was already in bed, so she could sneak up to her room unnoticed, but luck surely wasn't her friend today. "Yea, I haven't been home in a while and thought I would sleep here tonight. Sorry, it's so late, I had a lab."
After the lab, Spencer knew Ashley would be waiting up to talk. But, Spencer was still too upset to listen to anything Ashley had to say. So she got in her car and drove to her parents for the night.
"You know you are always welcome here," her mother replied. "Is Ashley coming?" It was a good question because it was surprising for the two girls to agreeably spend a night apart.
"No," Spencer started not really wanting to discuss the situation with Ashley. "Umm, actually she doesn't know I'm here. I didn't tell her because I was sure she would be sleep."
Paula could clearly see Spencer wasn't being completely honest, but she didn't want to push it when it came to those two.
"Spence," Dylan exclaimed walking down the steps. "I haven't seen you in weeks," she finished running to hug her sister. "What are you doing here? Where's Ashley?"
Spencer trying not to cry, "I really just wanted to sleep in my old room tonight. And Ashley is home."
"What's wrong Spencer?" Dylan asked she could see Spencer was trying to hide something. She knew it had to do with Ashley because Spencer would not willingly choose to sleep away from the girl.
"Nothing, I'm fine," she started, "I just had a long day and am really tired, so I am going to just head up." She finished while walking up the steps towards her room.
She slowly closed the door before letting her tears fall. Spencer had barely made it through the group lab meeting. Her friends could see that something was off with her, so they had decided to end the meeting earlier than usual.
Spencer's mind was all over the place. She had never felt this way. Felt that Ashley could be interested in someone else. How long had Sam and Ashley been close? Was that the first time, Sam had caressed her? Had Ashley ever kissed Sam? Maybe she had missed something this past year. They had been dating over five years now. Maybe Ashley wanted to experience more.
All these thoughts were driving her crazy and she really wasn't ready to talk with Ashley about them.
"Spencer," Dylan knocked before opening the door noticing Spencer laying on her bed crying. "Spence, talk to me. What is it?"
"Dylan, I don't want to talk about it," Spencer replied. "I just need tonight to figure things out."
Dylan wasn't accustomed to seeing her sister like this. Which clearly meant this had to do with Ashley.
"Did something happen with Ashley?"
"Dylan, not now!" Spencer exclaimed. She didn't mean to yell at her sister, but she had already said she didn't want to talk.
"Fine, if you won't tell me, I will find out from Ashley." Dylan turned to head out the door.
"No stop!" The last thing Spencer needed was Dylan talking to Ashley and Ashley showing up in the middle of the night to her parents.
"Talk," Dylan replied, walking to sit on the floor next to Spencer's bed.
"I don't know what to say," Spencer started. "I walked in on something, I wish I hadn't seen."
"Walked in on what? Where?" Dylan was confused.
Spencer set up and ran her hands through her hair, "Okay, we are doing this."
"Yes, we are so doing this. I want to know why my sister showed up unannounced in the middle of the night. I mean Spencer," Dylan stated, "you would never willingly sleep away from Ashley."
"Things change Dyl."
"Not for you two." Spencer heard Dylan murmur.
"I don't know Dylan, maybe it has."
Dylan stared shockingly at her sister, "wait are your feelings changing towards Ashley?"
Spencer was surprised Dylan would ask her that, "No, never. I could never stop loving Ashley. I'm more worried if she can stop loving me"
Dylan tried not to laugh, "are we talking about the girl who cried when you told her you were considering a school in Boston? The same girl who delivered 24 vases of roses after your first fight? Or maybe it is the crazy girl who is completely wrapped around your finger." Dylan had watched Ashley love her sister so completely for years. She would never believe Ashley had stopped loving Spencer.
"Look Spencer, just tell me what happened so we can figure this out."
As much as Spencer did not want to talk about today, she knew she had to get this off her chest or she would never be able to have a proper conversation with Ashley.
"I basically walked in on Ashley being touched by someone else."
"Wait you caught Ashley cheating," Dylan exclaimed?
"No!" Spencer replied not wanting Dylan to think the wrong thing about Ashley. "She wouldn't do something like that, I hope. No, Sam reached in to brush Ashley's hair back, before caressing her cheek and Ashley didn't stop it."
"That's it," Dylan questioned wanting to be sure before she gave her opinion on the situation.
"What do you mean that's it," Spencer questioned? "That's enough. She took something special between us and used it to get my girlfriend's attention."
"Yes, I understand that Spencer," Dylan had seen Spencer perform the gesture millions of times and it always caused Ashley to smile brightly. It was their thing. "I get where you are coming from, but how was Ashley to stop that?"
"I don't know. Maybe not be that close in the first place." Spencer couldn't believe Dylan.
"No I get that and I would be upset too," Dylan explained. "I can even understand wanting a night away to clear your head. But, what I don't understand is why you wouldn't tell Ashley this. I mean come on Spencer, you know how she is. She is probably going crazy wondering where you could be, or if you are coming home."
Spencer knew Dylan was right, she should at least let Ashley know she was fine and would not be home that night. But, calling Ashley also meant listening to Ashley which wasn't something she was ready for. "You're right. I will text her and let her know."
Ashley was starting to worry. Spencer's labs went late some nights, but never this late. It was almost midnight and she still wasn't home. She was just about to head back to campus to check when her phone buzzed with an incoming text.
I just need tonight. I will be home tomorrow she read. There was no way she could stay in this house knowing that Spencer's thoughts were running in the wrong direction. She knew how in her head Spencer could be. Ashley didn't think a night away would clear Spencer's head at all. No, it would make things much worse. She knew she should have stayed outside of the lab building.
There was no way Ashley could sit here all-night knowing Spencer was out there thinking the worse. She was barely keeping it together right now and a night away from Spencer was not going to help. She couldn't stay in this house, in that bed without Spencer.
She quickly grabbed her phone dialing Spencer.
When she didn't pick up she dialed again, and again, and again. She finally broke down after the fifth missed call. If Spencer didn't listen how was she to fix this. She had to fix this.
She picked up her phone again to dial another number.
"Hello?"
"Oh thank God," Ashley exclaimed, "Is Spencer there?"
Dylan had just left Spencer alone for the night and figured Ashley would be calling soon as Spencer refused to answer any of her calls. She knew Ashley was aware of exactly where Spencer was.
"Yes, she is. She just fell asleep," Dylan replied. She could tell Ashley had been crying or was still crying. "How are you holding up, Ashley?"
"I'm not," Ashley cried, "I don't know how this is us. This has never been us. I am not sure what to do in this situation. I just want Spencer to come home."
"I know you do and she said she would be back tomorrow," Dylan told the girl knowing it would not help. "I think she just needs time to figure this all out in her head. I mean Ashley, this is a big deal for her."
"I know! You don't know how much I know this, Dylan," Ashley yelled. "It's a big deal for me too. I never wanted Spencer to feel like this. It is killing me that I can't do anything to fix it. It's killing me that I played any part in this. I just want Spencer to come home."
Dylan walked towards Spencer's room while placing the phone on speaker. If Spencer wasn't going to pick up her phone, she was at least going to hear how upset Ashley was.
"I want to be able to tell her how sorry I am that this happened. That I allowed it to happen. God, I know how upsetting it must be. It would kill me to think she is getting attention from someone else. It would kill me if this was the other way around and I know that she is hurting, and I want to fix it. I love her so much and this is killing me. She won't even talk to me. I need her to talk to me, I need her to come home," Ashley wept. "I really want her home."
Dylan knew Spencer could hear everything Ashley was saying. There was no way she was really sleeping. She had to hear how broken Ashley was over this.
"I can't sit here waiting for her to break up with me," Ashley said the thought never crossing her mind before. The thought alone nearly destroying her. "What if she breaks up with me? What if this is too hard for her to forgive? Is this just the end? It can't be the end. I need her, I want her, I miss her. I want her home," Ashley sobbed.
"Ash," Spencer spoke into the phone. She heard everything, and she couldn't take it anymore. Ashley sounded so broken and it was killing Spencer. "I'm on my way home."
I feel it all over my body
I dream about you when I sleep (yea)
You're the one for me (you're the one)
You're the one for me (you're the one)
All the signs say that
Ever since the day that we laid eyes on each other baby
You're the one for me (you're the one)
You're the one for me (hey)
When I lay in my bed at night
I'm hoping and praying that you feel the same way that I do deep down inside
And that feeling you just can't control
It makes you wanna just call me
And tell me how much you really miss me
It makes you wanna call me
And say that you can't wait to hold and kiss me, kiss me all over
Riley Grace Davies was born on July 7, 2018.
Three years after the Carlin-Davies wedding, the girls had decided they were ready to be mommies.
Spencer was in her final year of graduate school. Ashley was finishing up her debut album and knew that initial promotion requirements would be over before the baby was born, so it was perfect timing.
The donor was picked and ordered.
Aiden had offered to be their donor and Ashley had quickly turned him down. He was her best friend, but she refused to have him play any part in Spencer getting pregnant. The thought alone made her want to punch him. So they agreed on an anonymous donor instead. Just a number they wouldn't have to put a face to.
They both agreed that Spencer should carry their child as it was an experience she had always wanted and an experience Ashley would be more than grateful to sit out. This also allowed her to be even more devoted to Spencer's needs.
It had taken three tries before they got the good news.
"Baby!" Ashley exclaimed getting up to greet Spencer as she walked into the studio. "You didn't tell me you were stopping by," she said pulling Spencer into her arms.
Spencer leaned in to give Ashley a quick peck. Before she could pull away, Ashley claimed her lips for a deeper kiss. Locking Spencer's bottom lip between hers, not caring that they had an audience. Ashley loved kissing her wife.
Spencer smiled into the kiss trying to pull back. She might have been accustomed to Ashley's constant affection no matter the place, but she still had her limits.
Ashley groaned, biting Spencer's bottom lip, as Spencer tried to pull away. She leaned forward not letting their lips disconnect.
"That's it Rock star!" one of the producers in the studio yelled causing the others in the room to laugh.
Ignoring everyone else, Ashley released her wife's lips before pressing her forehead against Spencer's. "I'm so happy you're here, baby," Ashley replied squeezing tighter.
Spencer blushed noticing the attention they were getting. She had been the center of Ashley's world for over ten years and it still flustered her.
"Me too. I can't wait to hear what you are working on, but." Spencer started in, "I also need to talk to you about something."
"Okay," Ashley said while releasing Spencer to pull her over to the others. "can we have a minute? You all can continue to work on the arrangement." The writers and producers smiled, before excusing themselves.
Ashley pulled Spencer down on to her lap in a nearby chair kissing her behind the ear. "You have my full attention," she whispered in Spencer's ear.
"Ash," Spencer moaned. She quickly stood up to shake off the feeling. Turning to face her wife, who was sitting ogling her, "stop looking at me like that babe. I have something serious to talk to you about."
Ashley slowly scanned Spencer from the bottom of her sexy feet to the top of her beautiful head. She really was an incredibly lucky woman. Spencer was gorgeous. Those blue eyes alone had kept Ashley awake many nights. She could not get enough of her. Ten years was not enough.
She slowly stood up and walked closer to Spencer. "I'm listening," she smiled placing her arms on both sides of Spencer, who was standing in front of the mixing board.
Spencer looked up into Ashley's darkening eyes before crashing their lips together.
Ashley whimpered in response, gripping Spencer tightly against her.
She sled her tongue against Spencer's bottom lip while propping her up on to the mixing board causing Spencer to moan. Giving Ashley the invitation she needed to slide her tongue against her own.
They kissed until they were breathless. Pulling away slowly to rest their foreheads together. "I'm listening," Ashley repeated.
"What?" Spencer questioned, completely forgetting what she came to talk about. All she could think was that she wanted those lips back on hers.
Ashley smirked, as she noticed Spencer's lost expression. Yep, she still had it. It was nice to know Spencer wanted her as much today as she did ten years ago.
"I said, I'm listening to the important news you wanted to share," Ashley repeated. As much as she wanted to take Spencer right there in the studio, she also wanted to know what serious information Spencer wanted to talk about.
Quickly remembering what it was that she needed to tell Ashley, Spencer pushed Ashley back a little before walking them both to the sofa. Sitting down with plenty of space between them. She needed to get herself together.
"Well I had my doctor's appointment today," Spencer started.
"Wait, why didn't you tell me you had an appointment scheduled. Isn't that something I should attend?" Ashley was a little put off that she was just finding out Spencer had an appointment she was unaware of.
"Ash, I did tell you," Spencer replied. "Last night while we were lying in bed, I told you I would make an appointment for the next day."
Ashley tried to remember that particular conversation. Last night she briefly remembers Spencer talking about something, but how could she be expected to listen, Spencer had just the minute before had her head between Ashley's legs. How was she expected to remember anything after that?
"Stop," Spencer could clearly see what Ashley was thinking when it came to last night. "Anyway, I told you last night and I knew you had studio time today. It's fine baby."
"Okay first," Ashley started, "never tell me anything again while you are anywhere near my pussy."
"Ash!" Spencer shrieked while slapping her wife's arm.
Ashley laughed pulling Spencer closer, as she was sitting too far away. "And second, I am sorry I missed it. How was the appointment?"
Spencer took a pregnancy test the other night and it showed positive. But as they had a false positive before, they wanted to be sure before getting too excited. Honestly, as soon as they saw the positive symbol they were already excited. Which led to Spencer's head between Ashley's legs. Man, Ashley loved Spencer's head between her legs.
"Well," Spencer started, making sure Ashley was looking her directly in the eyes as she didn't want to miss one emotion cross her wife's face. "What do you think of the name Riley," she smiled?
Ashley seemed to process the information slower than expected. "Wait, you're pregnant?" She asked, to be sure.
"Yes, baby. We are pregnant." Spencer said again waiting for some form of reaction from Ashley. She could slowly see her face change from confused, to surprised, to…
"Oh My Gosh, Spence," Ashley yelled, "you are having my baby. Like we are going to be mommies." She smiled while looking at her wife.
"I know!" Spencer cried while being pulled back on to Ashley's lap.
"Baby, we are going to be the best mommies." Ashley cried as she held Spencer close. She was still trying to process the fact that they were going to be parents. The fact that Spencer was giving more of herself to Ashley. "I am going to take such good care of you. Whatever you need Spence, I got it."
Spencer turned around to face Ashley. "You already take great care of me, Ashley. All I need is you."
"You got me, baby," Ashley replied before placing her lips on to her wife's. "You will always have me."
In the present time, Spencer turned towards their sleeping two-year-old daughter, currently being cradled in her grandmother's arm.
She knew how excited Riley was to finally see her momma after three months away. Riley simply adored her momma Ashley and at such a young age she couldn't understand why she couldn't be with her momma.
This was the first time, the two had really been apart as Ashley had devoted the first two years of Riley's life to weekend trips only. But, the time had come and she couldn't get out of her contract tour requirements. So, she cried, whined, pouted, and then sucked it up.
Spencer ensured her that Riley would be fine at such a young age. Plus Facetime technology was almost like the real thing these days. Ashley pouted at that statement. Facetime was not the same.
But like every other time, Spencer had been right. True Riley missed her momma, but she was excited every time Ashley would call or send a present from her new location.
The three months apart were hard, but they got through it together. Just like they got through every other struggle in their lives, together.
Spencer turned back towards the stage to continue to get lost in Ashley's performance.
I feel it all over my body (I feel it all over my body)
I dream about you when I sleep (yea)
You're the one for me (you're the one)
You're the one for me (you're the one)
All the signs say that
Ever since the day that we laid eyes on each other baby
You're the one for me (you're the one)
You're the one for me (hey)
As the music slowly faded, Ashley took a moment to look up towards the box where she knew Spencer would be. As much as she loved her fans, she really wanted Spencer. Three months was a long time. Too long.
She centered her focus back on her fans, as she heard them cheer. "So, what do you all think," Ashley asked into the crowd, causing them to cheer louder.
"I actually wrote that one, on one of those lonely, lonely tour nights," Ashley responded. "I mean it is hard being away from Spencer. Really, really hard."
Spencer smiled at Ashley's comment, as she too knew how hard these three months had been. Talking to her wife was wonderful. Being able to see her face on their video calls was great. But, there was nothing in the world that compared to having Ashley hold her and touch her. Those are the things she had missed while Ashley was away. Those are the things that had kept her up at night.
"So I am sure you understand, why I am so sappy tonight," Ashley continued while standing up from the stool as a PA came to grab the stool and acoustic. "Okay, this last one is for you. Thank you again for coming."
I didn't ask for a free ride
I only asked you to show me a real good time
I never asked for the rainfall
At least I showed up, you showed me nothing at all
Spencer turned towards the others in the box noticing they were either preoccupied in conversation or watching Ashley finish her show.
She quickly moved towards the door, before noticing Kyla smirking at her. Spencer blushed before walking out of the door. Kyla knew exactly where Spencer was going.
Walking through the halls was a little more difficult than she assumed it would be. As fans were waiting to get backstage for the meet and greet, Ashley was required to attend after each show.
Spencer finally was able to get to Brad, who was currently blocking the door.
He smiled at her before opening the door.
"Thanks," Spencer called as she walked through. One step closer.
Spencer had been backstage a few times throughout Ashley's career, so she was familiar with the many people coming and going on the side stage. She waved to those she knew as she waited. Spencer could hear the song coming to a close.
I hear the thunder coming down, won't you rain on me?
Rain on me
I hear the thunder coming down, won't you rain on me?
Rain on me
"Good night, Los Angeles," she heard Ashley scream before the crowd grew louder. The next thing she saw was the stage above her move lower.
She watched her wife appear from above still waving to the crowd. Feet, then legs, followed by the cutest butt she had ever seen. Mmm, there goes that neck I can't wait to kiss. If only she would turn around, Spencer would be able to finally connect with those eyes she had missed.
She watched as Ashley slowly turned, making sure not to step off the platform before time. Ashley had yet to look up. If only she would look up.
She must have been reading her wife's mind because she instantly looked up into smoldering eyes. Her face producing her signature nose crinkling smile.
Spencer could hear people chattering in the background. Giving Ashley the cue that she could exit the platform.
Ashley quickly walked down the slope that was attached to the platform keeping Spencer's eyes the whole way down. She slowed down as she came closer to her wife who was standing there with her arms crossed and her signature head tilted smile. Looking as beautiful as ever.
Everything and everyone else backstage was ignored as Ashley stepped closer to Spencer.
"Late after three months?" Ashley smiled as Spencer shrugged her shoulders in that cute way. Causing Ashley to laugh, grabbing her wife to pull her close. "I have missed this," she said leaning in closer, "all of this." She finally said before connecting their lips. This had been the longest time since the age of fourteen that she had gone without a taste of Spencer's lips. Three months was far too long.
Ashley disconnected their lips and leaned her forehead against Spencer's, "I missed you so much, baby. You have no idea."
Spencer grabbed Ashley's lips for a short kiss, "I love you," She whispered while threading her hands through her wife's hair. "You are never leaving again," she finished.
Ashley smiled savoring the feeling of Spencer's hands in her hair. "Never," she murmured before linking their lips together again. She couldn't get enough.
"Sorry to interrupt," they heard Ashley's PA state.
Ashley groaned while letting Spencer pull away, but not before Ashley nipped her bottom lip. She had missed that lip.She turned to face Dylan raising her brow.
Spencer's sister had been Ashley's assistant for over two years. She was working on her master's in music production and loved that working for Ashley kept her near the people she needed to know. Plus, she was probably one of the only ones who could put up with the girl and her "I miss Spencer" monologues.
Dylan had talked Ashley out of quitting the tour at least twice a day for the last three months. The first time being as soon as the plane door closed for takeoff. She couldn't believe that the girl was just as crazy for her sister as she had been twelve years ago.
"You have fifteen minutes to change for your meet and greet," Dylan continued. "As great as it is to see Spencer, you still have another hour requirement before you two can return to what you were doing."
Ashley frowned at the comment. As much as she loved her fans, she was not ready to let Spencer go and an hour sounded like forever. She nodded towards Dylan before turning back to the girl in her arms. "You want to help me get ready," she questioned with her adorable smirk.
Not waiting for a response, Ashley led Spencer to her dressing room, closing the door and pressing Spencer against said door.
She connected their lips quickly sliding her tongue against her wife's. Causing the other girl to quietly whimper. Ashley wasn't sure if she would ever be able to retract from those addicting lips. But the decision was made for her when Spencer slowly released her lips without disconnecting them.
"I missed you," Spencer whispered against Ashley's lips.
Ashley scanned Spencer's face, before turning her and pushing her down onto the nearby sofa. She watched as Spencer looked up at her waiting. Ashley took no time to straddle her wife.
"Baby, you have to get ready," Spencer said staring up at her.
"I am getting ready," Ashley responded. "I do need to remove these clothing to change. You are just helping me remove them in a more enjoyable way," she smirked before leaning in closer.
Ashley traced her hand along Spencer's face admiring the Angel that lay below her. "You are so beautiful," she whispered causing Spencer to look away shyly. "Don't," Ashley called turning Spencer so that their eyes could reconnect. "Don't turn away. I have missed this. I could marvel at your beauty forever."
Spencer blushed adoringly gazing into her wife's eyes. She was so in love with the woman hovering over her. She loved every piece of the puzzle that was Ashley.
It had been twelve years of their story and every little piece proved to be better than the last.
Their story was rare, she knew this. Everyone didn't get the chance to find their one and only at fourteen.
Spencer ran her hand across her wife's cheek before pulling her back down into a more tender kiss.
Well, that is the end of the 2021 Revision of "You're the One For Me". Stay safe!
