Sword and Courage
Chapter 2
The Legend
Link had joined King Harkinian, Zelda and their visitor in the main chamber, along with a curious (and envious) Spryte, who was greeted by the visitor with much praise, almost much to his confusion and discomfort.
"The legendary hero, oh this is such an honor, to finally see you in person", the visitor said in such pleasing voice and out reached with her hands to observe him.
"Okay, yeah I know I am great and all but show a little space please", said Link.
The visitor backed off. "My apologies, I have traveled far and after I heard the legends, it was such a pleasure to meet two great figures."
"Legends, I didn't even know I had such a legend", said Link in confusion.
"You didn't, at least I don't think you did", said Zelda also confused.
"Let us talk if we may, in someplace more comfortable", suggested the visitor.
"Oh yes indeed, this way", said Hirkanian leading them to one of the castles many rooms.
The visitor now seated and before a fire place faced Zelda and Link while Spryte and the king looked on.
"Now before I begin, Zelda you could have had your choice of many heroes and yet you chose Link to protect your Triforce of Wisdom", said the visitor.
"Yeah the Trifoce of Wisdom told me to seek one out for protection and directed me to one that was wandering in the neighboring country. I don't know why but something told me he was the right one for the job", said Zelda.
"I will say" giggled Spryte aside.
"You sure it wasn't romance at first sight", teased Link.
"Don't start hero", retorted Zelda with a wagging accusing finger.
"Well excuuuuuse me Princess", replied Link.
The visitor continued adding, "It wasn't mere coincidence or just by the Triforce's will that you were brought together, it was fate, your very destiny that you were meant to meet, for it has happened many times before."
"Huh" the princess and the hero said in confusion.
"To explain I must tell you the legend straight from the beginning. This was kept by my people for so long", said the visitor. Taking a small pellet from her cloak she threw it into the fire and smoke came from it which helped provide illustration to the tale she was about to tell.
Long ago before even this entire world was here, in the area that would become Hyrule, three golden goddesses descended on the chaotic land. There was Din, the Goddess of Power, Nayru, the Goddess of Wisdom, and Farore the Goddess of Courage.
Din used her powerful arms and sculpted the earth and rock.
Nayru enveloped the world in her wonderful veil and gave the spirit of law to the land.
Farore bathed the world in her light and created the organisms that would uphold the law.
With their labors completed the three goddesses departed for the heavens and in their place were three sacred golden Triangles which became the symbol of the world's providence.
"Wait",s aid Zelda, "Power, Wisdom, you mean these triangles these goddesses left behind were the Triforces of Wisdom and Power?"
The visitor merely nodded.
"But wait there were three Goddesses, why isn't there a third", said Link, "And what is their connection with us", asked Link.
"If you would let me continue it would all become clear", said the visitor.
"My apologies please continue", said Zelda. The visitor breathed and continued.
The Triforce, as it was soon came to be known, had the power to grant the wish of whoever touched it, and this attracted the attention of a terrible demon known as Demise. Demise launched a great campaign to get his hands on the sacred object, But thankfully there was resistance by another goddess, the one known as Hylia.
Hylia knew the danger if Demise got his hands on the sacred object and launched a resistance against him with help from the other creatures on the planet. While the campaign was noble, it met with far too many casualties, and Hylia knew it would be futile if this kept on going and did not wish to sacrifice any more of the creatures ont his planet so, she hid the triforce in a piece of land and asked what remained of the people of that land to seek refuge on it and with that she sent the people and the Triforce into the sky above the clouds.
With them safe Hylia continued her campaign and managed to entrap Demise's feral soul into a crevice close to the earth. But it was only a temporary measure as she knew eventually the seal would break. Before the died she enacted two measures, one was that she would create a special sword with a voice inside that would guide a hero of her choosing to help defend her second measure and stop Demise. The other was a human which would contain her soul, a reincarnation of her in mortal human form.
Years later, when the knowledge of their origin was nothing but a forgotten legend for the sky folk, her labors were realized. A fair maiden who was the daughter of the schoolmaster there, became the said reincarnation, and her friend, a young knight in training was chosen to bear the said sword.
The demons weapon, had taken a life of its own and sought the release of his master and forced the maiden to the surface but her friend followed with help from the sword's voice, Fi.
They learned that the weapon wanted to use the maiden's body not only to free his master but to restore him to his normal form. My ancestor was able to help the said maiden in her journey to reawaken her power and with the help of another Skylander and the creatures of that planet, the hero found the triforce and used it's power to seal Demise away and reunited with the maiden. But the weapon took the maiden back into the past using a special door and used her to succeed, but the hero along with his newly enhanced sword managed to defeat Demise and save the maiden, but Demise vowed despite being sealed away he would return in another form in order to finish what he started.
The hero put the sword to rest and Fi ceased to talk. It was soon later thanks to the hero Link and the maiden Zelda, that Hyrule was officially born.
Zelda and Link were astonished. "What they have the same name as us!?"
"So were we named after them or something and what happened with Demise, did he mentor Ganon or something", asked Link.
"If I may continue", the visitor asked.
They of course nodded and the visitor resumed.
A century or so later after Hyrule had changed and evolved, Demise was reborn as gerudo theif known as Ganondorf Dragmire. Wanting to again take the Triforce for his own he set out to the castle under a false show of allegence to the king. A young boy, the reincarnation of Link was raised among the group of forest folk known as the Kokiri, him along with his guide, Navi a fairy, left the woods under orders of the forest guardian, the Great Deku Tree. It was with the reincarnation of the maiden, the then princess Zelda, the two met and discussed their plan to save the Triforce.
Shome time after Demise's defeat, the Triforce was soon located in a place known as the sacred realm who would reflect ones heart who entered it. The gateway to it was sealed behind the Temple of Time.
The young kid managed to locate the spiritual stones, after saving the races who were cursed by Ganondorf who threatened them if he wasn't given them. But thankfully the boy freed them and was given the stones. But upon returning to the castle he saw Zelda fleeing along with her nursemaid, who was one of my people's ancestors as well. Zelda managed to entrust the last key, the Ocarina of time, to Link before fleeing forever and Link managed to survive an encounter with Ganondorf.
Once in the temple and opened the sealed door, inside was one thing no one would expect, his predecessor's special blade. However, when he pulled it out of the pedestal, he was sealed away for seven years for he was too young to serve the swords purpose, but the door was left open and Ganondorf found his way into the sacred realm and touched the Triforce.
When the boy awoke now an adult, he had but one way to defeat Ganondorf, by destroying the evils in the temples and awakening the sages inside each one. Once completed he was reunited with Zelda who explained to him this, that the Triforce itself is a scale that weighs the balance in ones heart, the balance of three things, Power, Wisdom and Courage. If one's heart was in balance they would gain the full power, but if not, it would split into three pieces, Power, Wisdom and Courage, and only one part would remain for the one who touched it, the force that one would believe, and the other two would split off into two separate people chosen by destiny. When Ganondorf touched it, only the Triforce of Power stayed with him, Zelda gained the Triforce of Wisdom, and Link the Triforce of Courage.
The duo had one final confrontation with Ganondorf who managed to make himself into he monstrosity known as Ganon. With the help from the sages, they sealed him in the void of the Sacred realm and peace was restored. . for a time.
The visitor looked on as she noted the shock on the duo's faces.
"Wait you mean there is not one Triforce but THREE?" gasped Zelda. "The Triforce of Courage!?"
"Yes and without that, you will never have the true force to govern all", said the visitor.
"Wait if Ganon was sealed in the sacred realm", remarked Link, "Why are we fighting him now?"
"Because every so often, Ganon has found ways to break free. He did so once, but even when he was defeated or destroyed he found ways of returning. But even so, there always was the two forces that stopped him", said the visitor, then pointing to Zelda said, "You the legendary Princess who bears the power of the goddess." Then pointing to Link added, "And you the legendary hero would bear the said sword of evil's bane to defeat him."
"Wait so it was no coincidence Link is here", said Zelda.
"Yes it was destiny", said the visitor.
"Would it involve a kiss", asked Link. Zelda gave an annoyed look but the visitor chuckled.
"Can't say for certain" she said laughing. "But in any case I am here to help you. For I know where both items are. Both Triforce of Courage and the legendary blade that the hero must bear."
"How do we know we can trust you", asked Link, "Last person that asked me to hand over a sword was a conartist."
"You know what I say to be true young hero", said the visitor.
"I don't see why we can't trust her, she did travel all this way on those feet to get here", said Zelda. Then to the visitor said, "Very well, we will travel with you to get this sword and the third Triforce first thing in the morning after you rest here."
"Thank you, you won't regret this your highness", said the visitor.
"No thank you for this opportunity miss", said Zelda as she lead her to her room, "I am sorry what is your name?"
"I am known as Impa, the last of the Shekiah tribe."
To be continued. . . . . .
