"Why?"

"Where is everyone? Why didn't they- ?"

"Mommy didn't come today either. Where is she?"

"It hurts. They won't stop-"

"I want my dad. I want my mom!"

"I can't-"

"It's impossible-"

"Why can't I see- ?"

"Why won't they let me out- ?"

"I wish he would just leave!"

"When- "

"Why won't- "

"Why can't they just look- "

"Why? Why did he have to be the one to live?"

Naruto's eyes snapped open. His heart was pounding. His forehead was slick with cold sweat.

His lungs shuttered momentarily before he sat up, gasping. The clock on his wall ticked, repeatedly, he couldn't hear anything else, the voices seemed to be muted momentarily.

And then the silence caught up to him and his brain woke up. Panicking.

What was that? He thought 一 he thought that was actually-

"You can hear the voices of the Far Shore?"

This wasn't real

There was a fucking man in his bed

In a few seconds, within a single heartbeat, thoughts of disembodied voices vanished when Naruto shrieked(later on at another date he'd deny he sounded like a girl), flying out of the blankets like the devil was in his bed and snatching a pair of scissors off his desk, brandishing them like a knife.

"Whoever the fuck you are, I have a weapon ya know!"

For his part, the man who'd snuck into his bed remained undisturbed and instead smiled expectantly and stared at Naruto, waiting.

This guy-

"You're that guy from earlier! The one who tried to kill himself! Tracksuit Guy!", Naruto pointed accusingly.

Tracksuit Guy had the gall to looked offended, "Hey! I was not trying to kill myself!"

"Then explain the reason you jumped into the middle of a road!", Naruto demanded.

"I was on a job!"

"To kill yourself?!"

"No! Don't you remember? I was chasing a cat! You'd said so yourself!"

Naruto paused, before he remembered that too, "Oooh"

The stranger sighed, sitting up and dragging a hand down his face, before he hopped out of the bed and began approaching Naruto. The blonde then remembered this man had broken into his room and dared crawl into his bed, and tensed, holding the scissors chest level in case the pervert got too close.

"Oh, I don't roll that way."

Suspicious.

"Says the man who snuck into my bed.", Naruto glared.

"Ugh, whatever.", Tracksuit Guy grumbled, "Anyways, thanks for saving me. I didn't need any help with that truck, but no human has ever helped me before."

Naruto. . . still didn't trust this guy. But Naruto relaxed anyways, unsure but certain that the man wouldn't try anything right now. The way he said that was strange though, and before Naruto could stop himself the question had already escaped his lips.

"Are you, human?"

His response was a dark grin, "No. I am no human. I am a god."

'Ah, so he's one of those people.'

"Alright. Do you have anyone I can contact for you?", Naruto smiled calmly, as it was now apparent he was dealing with a delusional man(or maybe he was just drunk).

"Oi oi oi! I'm not crazy or high!", Tracksuit Guy began to protest, "I'm telling the absolute truth! I really am a legitimate member of the gods! I'm the Yato god."

Naruto squinted, "Yato. . . god?"

Yato-man nodded his head desperately.

"Liar! I've never heard of the Yato god! Dattebayo!"

Yato recoiled like he'd been stung, before sighing, "Well, as it is now, I'm sort of an up-and-coming stray god right now. . . but just you watch!", he spread his arms wide, "I'll soon be known far and wide! I'll become a god everyone will wish and bow for, and then I'll someday become the greatest god out there, better than them all!"

"Right, well, good luck with that.", was the only thing Naruto could respond with to this lunatic.

"Uggh, whatever. If ya don't believe me ya don't believe me.", Yato grumbled back. Something right then seemed to catch his attention cus he glanced at the door with a look of surprise and curiosity, watching something unseen to Naruto, "Huh. There's one right there. . ."

Naruto tilted his head, "What's there?"

Yato shook his head and waved away the question, "Doesn't matter. Anyways, I need to get outta here. No shinki means I'm defenseless, and unlike most homes. . . "his eyes narrowed "this place is tainted."

"Yes, please leave. Like, now.", Naruto sniped, ignoring the shiver that ran down his back.

"Hai hai.", Yato turned around and opened the window, crouching on the edge and about to drop down, before turning to Naruto with an unreadable look in his eery eyes

"By the way. . . I wouldn't go downstairs right now, if I were you.", and with that, Yato disappeared.

"Hiyori!"

The girl stopped, smiling at the sight of her friends.

"Ami-chan, Yama-chan.", she greeted.

"Hiyori, how was your morning?", Ami asked as they made their way towards their class.

"Hmm, it was normal. Father had to come home late last night because of an accident, so he was tired."

Yama sighed, "Yeah, working in a hospital keeps you up late, doesn't it?"

"I suppose so.", Hiyori smiled.

Ama perked up, "Ah, that reminds me! Did you hear what happened to Naruto?"

Hiyori tilted her head, "Who?"

"You know, the blonde guy in our class. A little short?", Yama provided.

"With sharpie whiskers?", Ami added.

Racking her brain, Hiyori faintly remembered a boy with bright hair and a small smile, sitting in the back of their class, "Oh, you mean Uzumaki-san?"

"Yeah!"

"What about him?"

"Yesterday, walking home from school, he was hit by a bus!", Ami whispered.

"What?!"

"Yeah. And I think it was your family's hospital he was taken to as well.", Yama said.

'Oh. He's the one father was talking about.'

"Well, I hope he's doing alright."

"Oh he's perfectly fine. Me and Ami just saw him, he's climbing the school like nothing happened!"

"E-eh?"

"Anyways, just don't go getting hit by a bus! I think I'd cry if you did.", Ami laughed.

Hiyori didn't get a chance to respond, because they were already standing at the door to their class.

Naruto stopped at the door, staring blankly at the floor. He didn't know why, but something nagged at him. He almost felt like he'd missed something important.

Blue eyes and dark hair flashed across his mind, but before he could grab onto the memory it left, slipping away and leaving an itching empty space in his mind, where something should be.

But besides the itch Naruto couldn't even remember what he was missing anymore. His memory of something gone had vanished, and in its place were the ordinary events that happened to him daily.

He was hit by a bus yesterday, thanks to a lazy driver who wasn't looking, and he'd met a man at the hospital who'd offered to pay the expenses.

He later went back home and crashed onto the bed, exhausted, and fell asleep.

Only to wake up again and look out his window.

But he didn't remember why. He didn't question it either, as the reasons and need to have what was gone withered dry, and with it any conception of knowing something in his mind was missing.

He walked into his class and sat at his desk, keeping his head low and pushing himself into his notebook as he struggled to write down the notes, handwriting sloppy as always as that nagging itch disappeared.

The day went by as always; he hurriedly finished his assignments, spewed excuses for late work, refrained from participating as much as he could, barely wrote notes, walked to the next class alone, ate lunch alone, and smiled alone when he walked away from school.

He didn't remember any blue eyes.

He didn't know he'd forgotten something.

Walking down the street, he slowed his steps and enjoyed the late sky, happily soaking in the afternoon sun that painted the sky yellow. Pulling out his notebook he doodled, falling into his normal routine as he hummed.

Something then caught his eye and he looked up curiously, staring at the flier.

A cat smiled at him, pictured under a name.

"Milord"

Humming, Naruto stared at the flier, and then took out his old flip phone and snapped a pic, saving it for later if he ever had to call the owner. Walking away, Naruto folded his hands behind his head, sidestepping any pedestrians coming his way and-

He paused. Something had changed. His knees had dipped and a shadow had fallen over his eyes but then he was up again, feeling lighter and excited, energy bursting into him. What was so strange?

He looked to either side of the street but found nothing out of the ordinary, blinking in confusion as this feeling of change continued to tug at his mind.

But then he shoved it away. Naruto didn't feel like dealing with his paranoia right now, not when he had homework to do and ramen to eat. So he ignored his curiosity and jogged down the sidewalk, an unusual ease in his feet as he sprinted, staring ahead and avoiding eye contact.

In his fast strides and loud silence, Naruto didn't notice the body he left behind.

to clear things up this crossover is really a few Naruto characters put into the Noragami universe on my whim, so Hiyori and everyone will still be there, but with an added bonus(and just to reiterate, Hiyori does not have a big role, she's more like a TenTen in this, little screentime)
and please forgive me for my crappy writing
