Randy showed his twin brother, Sandy, his spied information from the security radars and sensors around the Vault. The only reason this new bleep brought both of them into interest in it was it was a receiver from a sister vault. A sister vault that hadn't tried to make a physical trip to them in over 60 years, but even more attention grabbing was that the receiver was getting closer and closer. Whoever, or whatever, was carrying the device, with information from so long ago, would be at their Vault door before the sunset in that evening in the open wasteland.

The twin brothers made their way to the head of Vault security, Brandon. Brandon, the white fox, was only 3 years the squirrels senior, but he acted as if her were far more wise to the world, and held the most power in the vault… despite the fact the fox was a paranoid cowered, who looked for any opportunity to better himself despite the hardship it caused to anyone else. Most avoided too much contact with the power-hungry nitpicker, however Randy, and Sandy, had no such luck as the three of them were the most powerful people in the vault besides the Overseer himself.

"Brandy!" Randy yelled out as he and his brother entered the head of securities office without knocking.

Brandon jumped a little and turned his attention away from one of his many video screens and sighed in irritation at seeing the two male squirrels. "Don't call me that. I have a male name… unlike your little brother…" Brandon glared at Sandy as he glared back.

"I've brought up many times that I'm technically older than my brother, but I'm not surprised it didn't register with you as you're far too busy looking into everyone's private business. "Sandy grinned trying to show his dominance over the other man despite his smaller size. "I just hope that all this here watchfulness on yer part is just fer da good of the Vault and not the good of yer objectional private time."

Brandon looked at Sandy in confusion for a moment before Randy spoke up. "Yer jerk off thought box, dumbass!"

"Tis!" Brandy shot back at them as he pushed back on his rolling chair and then stood up. "I don't have time for the two of you. Leave my sight so I can keep holding this vault together!"

Randy now laughed loudly. "You?!" The larger male struggled to catch his breath. "Yer ass don't do shit! I fix all of the equipment that needs fixing, unless it's software (and my bro takes care of that), and mah brother takes care of fixing all of the people in here. What da fuck do you do?!" Randy questioned as he aggressively started walking towards Brandon, before his brother grabbed his arm to stop him.

"Have ya told da Overseer about the radar coming to our door.?" Sandy questioned.

Brandon sighed as his face turned into a frown. "I was about to until you two showed up."

"Bullshit!" Randy called out. "Ya were too busy jerking off ta people talking ta one another!"

"Randy!" Sandy shouted causing his brother to shut up. "How long have you known? "

"How do you know?" Brandon shot back. "This information should only be seen by security, and not those of a lesser security grade."

Sandy chuckled under his breath at the other man trying to turn the tables. "Anyone that knows history knows that ya can't trust those in power ta look out fer the greater good." He narrowed his eyes as he looked at Brandon. "Why are ya hiding this?"

"Because I plan to ignore it, and I'll get the Overseer to agree. We have no Idea who, or what is coming towards us! Why should we risk opening our doors to something that might destroy us? It's better to leave this unknow and keep on living as we always have as long as we have!"

"It might save us!" Sandy shot back. "We can't last near as long in here as the Overseer tells everyone."

"It might be an early grave for all of us! You of all people, Sandy, knows what danger is outside from other vaults writings. If it's a gang of thugs they could come in here and kill us all off in the worst of ways."

"Well, that's why we have cameras and radio communication for our entrance." Sandy growled and took a step back as the head of security looked down in shame as his brother laughed again. "What?" Sandy now looked at his brother upset.

"Oh well the cameras for the outside of da vault has been not working at all for the past 3 years, but started breaking down 5 years ago. I was given the order not ta replace 'em as… they are pointless… as well as receiver outside. So we can talk ta 'em, not see 'em, not hear 'em, but we can tell 'em ta lube up before they fuck us first." Randy nudged his brother with his elbow.

"Ya dumbass!" Sandy screamed at Brandon.

"NO! NO! We've never needed those cameras, or anything from the outside for decades. We need to save those parts for inside!" The fox started to step back as Sandy started stepping closer to him aggressively, despite the fact the squirrel was far smaller than the fox.

All three men stopped their argument as an emergency alert started to shine, and blare, through the vault. The main entry gate was about to open. The men looked between one another with fear before running to the entry corridor and watching the locks on the massive round geared door start to unlock.

"Arm up!" Brandon called out as most of the men jumped on his orders. The fox then handed his small sidearm to Sandy and grinned tauntingly. "Here's something more your size."

Sandy jaw clenched for a minute before he realized real sunlight would shine into the vault for the first time in 5 years… most of them had never seen it, but those that had still went back to becoming accustom to the fake light. He ran to the weapons locker and put on a pair of goggles. Before he was able to shout out for the others to do the same the door was already opening and the men around him started to cry in shock and pain, blinded by real sunlight even at this weaker hour.

Sandy stood there… the only man able to look as the vault door finally opened. The cloud of dust was an amazing site to see, but only left him more on edge about what was waiting for them on the other side… especially as he was the only one with vision and able to fight.
