Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of the Spartan and the Legionary. Enjoy the 1600-word chapter. I don't own RWBY or Halo. Monty Oum, Microsoft, 343 and Rooster Teeth do.
Every single warning bell for Atlas and Mantle was going off in General James Ironwood's office. The man sat, Winter Schnee besides him.
"What am I looking at?" Ironwood asked as he watched an armored warrior. "It's been engaging these creatures for 20 minutes." Ironwood stated and tented his fingers.
The armored soldier grabbed the rifle of another of the reptilian creatures who swung it like a club. He plunged a knife into the creature's throat before kneeing it into the snow.
Ironwood watched him toss the creature's rifle into the snow and swept a gun around before opening fire with its own weapon.
"Unknown, sir." Winter said as she watched the camera drone's footage. "It doesn't match anything in our database. That isn't one of ours…." Winter said with a frown which told that she was shocked.
This creature had appeared alongside what she believed was one of their vessels. The creature moved with a machine-like efficiency, only pausing to study cover or plan an attack.
"It's a soldier." Ironwood observed as he pointed to the footage. "Their all soldiers, but it's clear this one is above the rank and file." Ironwood said which caught Winter off-guard.
"How can you be sure it isn't one of the regular soldiers?" Winter asked as Ironwood pulled the camera footage back.
He pointed at the black and tan colored humans holding projectile weapons like his Due Process.
"The customized armor and the hostiles prioritizing him over the other soldiers." Ironwood said while he turned to Winter. "Bring it in. I'm going to focus on those air forces." Ironwood ordered as Winter turned to him.
"Sir, that soldier could be highly dangerous." Winter stated as Ironwood nodded.
"I know, so are you." Ironwood said before tapping commands into his console at the moment.
(With Leo)
"UNSC Gambit, do you read me?" Leo asked as he discarded an empty Covenant carbine. "That's the forth patrol… How many more soldiers do they have?" Leo asked while looking around.
He knew better then to trust his motion tracker. His eyes were superior to any technology to begin with.
"We read you, spartan." Leo heard from one of Gambit's crew. "The covenant is trying to breach our permitter. The reactor is offline, how copy?" Leo heard as he slid down an ice dune.
"Engaging the covenant troops around the ship." Leo responded as he cracked his fingers. "Do you know where on Requiem this is? I don't know the terrain at all." Leo stated as fresh snow began to cover his armor.
"We're still working on that, Spartan." Leo heard which caused him to nod and shake his head. "Clear out the hostiles so we can get the Gambit back online." Leo heard as he looked through the scope of his DMR.
"Copy, Gambit." Leo stated before the flash of his motion tracker alerted him to new contacts.
He knew very well that there were other issues to attend to at the moment. There was far too much at the moment for him to study. He didn't know what this place was, but he did know for a fact that it probably wasn't Requiem.
If it was? Infinity would be giving orders countless times, there would be FAR more Covenant vessels. The very planet would be overrun with Forerunner soldiers.
Even if it wasn't said? This wasn't Requiem, Leo could tell that much easily…. But that still left the question of how they had gotten here.
A white craft flew overhead followed by 4 more. They began engaging the Covenant craft with missiles.
Now he knew this wasn't that it wasn't Requiem. Those craft matched no actual design in the UNSC catalog. He holstered his DMR and drew his SAW.
"Today just keeps getting better and better, don't it?" Leo asked as he aimed the gun around. "Where the hell are we if not Requiem?" Leo asked while sliding down another snowbank.
A blast of plasma forced him to dodge to the side, shields blaring as they absorbed the majority of radiation. He turned to see a wraith as he groaned.
"What's next, a scarab?" Leo asked before biting his tongue. "Hmm…" Leo asked while reaching down to see if he still had a plasma grenade, he had taken off the last elite.
He felt the explosive on his hip. He had, that gave him an idea. He sprinted forward while grabbing at the explosive on his hip.
The wraith's gunner opened fire, spraying plasma into the fire as Leo rolled, kicking up snow as he tucked into a ball.
He holstered his SAW for a moment and withdrew his knife from his forearm armor. Leo sprinted towards the covenant mortar tank, his armored legs pumping like pistons.
Covenant soldiers knew Spartans were monsters. They were designed to be superior to UNSC marines and other infantry in every way… And Spartan IVs? Were designed to be beyond that.
Leo flipped the knife in the direction of the tank as he lunged forward at the vehicle. The knife impacted the grunt manning it, making it slump forward as Leo somersaulted onto the hull.
Leo smashed an armored fist into the driver's hatch, denting the metal which he repeated, each blow crumpling it further. He dug his fingers into the metal and tore it off before igniting the grenade. The elite pilot let out a roar of surprise before Leo dropped the explosive into the mortar tank.
The explosive went off, igniting the craft's reactor and spraying the snow with flames and burning metal. Leo pushed off the hull before and landed in a crouch.
"Impressive." Leo heard as he gripped his SAW and tugged the weapon free of its magnetic lock.
He was greeted by a wave of white armor-clad soldiers with guns trained on him and a woman with a sword in her hand. Leo's aim didn't shift as he kept the weapon trained on the woman in front of him.
"Your not UNSC." Leo said, keeping his gun steady even as he pondered the best way to respond. "You can either tell me who you are, or my trigger finger slips." Leo said and looked around.
2 of the aircraft from before faced him, panels slid open, revealing missiles nestled in pods.
"What is UNSC?" Winter asked while pointing her sword at Leo who didn't back down. "Answer and comply… Or I'll have you shot." Winter ordered as Leo hummed.
"You saw what I did to them." Leo said and cocked his gun. "You don't corner a spartan, that's just suicide." Leo said as the soldiers kept their weapons trained on him.
"GUNS DOWN!" Leo heard as the sound of more engines were heard. He watched as a D-79-TC Pelican swung its guns towards the soldiers.
A squad of UNSC marines joined him, pointing their guns at the soldiers as well.
"Their human, like us." One of the soldiers next to the woman said. "What's a spartan, though?" Leo heard as he awaited the next move.
"Stand down." The woman ordered her men as she turned to Leo. "I don't want to fight you unless I have to. We're not your enemy, not like these…" The woman said and gestured with her free arm towards the covenant.
"Keep the guns down and I'll think about it." Leo said and got a nod as he lowered his own gun slowly. "Guns down, last thing we need is fighting covenant alongside them." Leo said as the marines hesitantly lowered their weapons.
"I'm specialist Winter Schnee of the Atlesian Military." Winter said as Leo held his SAW loosely in one hand.
"Former Lieutenant Commander…" Leo said before pausing and remembered what Admiral Musa had said. "Spartan Leonardo Cerule… Everyone calls me Leo. UNSC Spartan Branch… Afraid rank and serial numbers are all I'm saying currently. I still don't know where we are and I don't have any reason to really trust you." Leo said, keeping his gun at the ready incase he ever needed it.
Winter said nothing, she had no reason to trust the 'Spartan' as it called itself. But she did have orders that she would follow.
"Can we discuss this back at General Ironwood's office at the very least?" Winter said while another cold wind ripped through the area. "The tundra of Solitas kill within an hour." Winter said while Leo turned to the marines.
"Report back to the Gambit." Leo ordered the marines. "I'll go with you, but the second something snaps?" Leo asked and tapped the SAW he grasped.
Winter put a finger to her earpiece, ordering one of the Mantas to descend to ferry them.
Leo could only ponder who the hell General Ironwood was… And what the Atlesian military was. He stepped towards the soldiers and kept his SAW clenched in one hand.
Winter made no move to remove it. She doubted he would and seeing him punch through metal so easily? It was clear he wasn't a normal soldier.
Neither had any idea what the future brought for either of their militaries.
