Hey guys it's me againnnnnnn

Woooooo

Sorry if I haven't updated my other story 'Escaping Nightmares' in a while, but I can't find the time to just sit down and write it… plus we're moving into a new home… and year 10... and life. Yee. I do promise to update in the next few weeks hopefully.

But anyways here's another chapter thinggy for this story which I thought I'd never continue. But RangerBlueBunny requested another chapter so here it is. And can we pretend kinda that the events of the last chapter actually happened before The Burning Bridge came out? Just for the story's sake. :)

Well on to the story!

(Pg. 207)

Will tried to give her a reassuring smile. It wasn't a very successful attempt. 'You can't do much more here,' he told her. 'Get across the bridge while you've still got time.'

She hesitated, desperately wanting to go but unwilling to leave him on his own. He was only a boy, she realised, but he was willing to sacrifice himself for her and the rest of the Kingdom.

Will: *appears*

Will: hold up one second here. I don't like the sound of this.

Flanagan: oh please not this again. I just want to write my books in peace.

Will: there's nothing wrong with the writing, it's just what you're about to write about.

Flanagan: how do you know what's going to happen?

Will: I can read your mind

Flanagan: …

Will: it's cause you wrote 'willing to sacrifice himself'. When someone writes that… it doesn't end well. And well, you wrote it and I prefer that nothing bad happens to me. I'm a very important character.

Flanagan: more important than everyone else in the book?

Will: yes. I am the main character after all.

Evanlyn: hey! You say you're more important than me? I'm the Crown Princess of Araluen!

Will: … the what now…?

Evanlyn: shoot I wasn't supposed to say that. *nervous laughter*

Evanlyn: *disappears in a poof of smoke*

Will: *confused speechlessness*

Flanagan: *continues writing silently while Will stands silently trying to get his mind to work again*

'Go!' he said, turning to her and shoving at her.

Evanlyn: *thinking* I could probably get him arrested for doing that…

And now she thought she could see the glitter of tears in his eyes. Her own eyes filled and she couldn't see him clearly.

Will: hey I'm not supposed to cry. Rangers never cry.

Evanlyn: *facepalms* Will, we're about to die. I don't think anyone would care.

Halt: *appears silently and scares the cookies out of Will* I'd care.

Will: awwwww thanks Ha-

Halt: by the word 'care', I mean that I'd start laughing.

Gilan: *also appears* I'd care!

Will: gee thanks Gilan.

Gilan: no seriously I'd probably give you a hug and try to be a good big brother. (AN: He's not actually Will's brother, but I see him as a half-brother :) )

Halt: you're not his brother.

Gilan: aw sure I am. And you'd be our dad.

Halt: *starts choking on coffee* e-excuse me!!!

Gilan: whhhaaattt. Seriously, the only time I've ever seen you smile properly or come close to laughing was around Will. And you even called him 'son' at one point if I'm correct.

Flanagan: it seemed like a good idea at the time…

Halt: *slowly stalks towards Flanagan with his saxe knife unsheathed*

Gilan: on that happy note… ON WITH THE STORY!

She blinked to clear her vision, just in time to see a jagged rock curving down out of the firelit night.

Will, Halt, Evanlyn, Horace and Gilan: NO!

Flanagan: cringes and tries to make himself smaller.

'Will!' she shouted, but she was too late. The rock took him in the side of his head and he grunted in surprise, then his eyes rolled up and he fell at her feet, dark blood already welling from his scalp.

Halt: *glaring at Flanagan with murder in his eyes*

Horace: if looks could kill, I think Flanagan would be dead by now.

Flanagan: *really really nervous laughter* uhhhh if you don't like it-

Halt: IF I DONT LIKE IT!? DO YOU THINK I'D LIKE TO SEE MY S- ahem WILL UNCONSCIOUS!?

Will: I don't like being knocked out. I'll just put that out there. And I don't think rangers should be allowed to be knocked out. I mean… we're kinda invincible. Only one or two rangers have actually died….. and we take on like 10 people at once. So we're kinda like immortal beings. Right?

Flanagan: no. You guys can die. Like Crowley.

Everyone: wha…..

Flanagan: I should not have said that.

Halt: *pulls out knife again*

Flanagan: I should NOT have said that!

Everyone: *tackles Flanagan and fight breaks out*

Flanagan: WAIT WAIT WAIT STOP! I'LL CHANGE IT! PLEASE DON'T HURT ME LIKE LAST TIME! PLEASE!

Halt: fine. But no more hurting my son.

Gilan: HA! SEE! YOU ARE THE DAD OF THE GROUP!

Halt: shut up Gilan. And you *points at Flanagan* if I even get the impression that anyone is going to get hurt, I'll choke you.

Flanagan: okay okay okay. No need to choke me.

'Will!' she shouted, but just as she thought the rock would hit Will's head, a sword sliced through the air and knocked the rock away in the nick of time.

'Horace?' Evanlyn and Will were shocked. Horace's chest was heaving, and his hands were shaking slightly.

'Oh gosh I hate heights. I'm never ever doing that again. Never. I don't care if you're about to die, I'm not running over a half burnt through bridge at night over a really really deep drop.'

Will only blinked once, still trying to wrap his head around Horace's almost otherworldly save. Horace met his fellow apprentices' eyes, a silent message of thanks passed between them. The moment, if you could call it a moment, only lasted a mere second before Evanlyn tackled Horace in a crushing hug. He was glad for the flickering firelight as it hid the deep blush that spread across his cheeks.

Horace and Evanlyn: *blushes*

Everyone else: *smiles knowingly and Gilan wolf whistles*

Will: *is a little jealous but still elbows Horace in the ribs*

Flanagan: *coughs* was that better?

Halt: much better. But don't you even begin to think that you've gotten away with hurting Will. I'll be watching you.

Gilan: just ignore him. He doesn't actually mean it. *whispers to Flanagan* although I'd watch my back if I were you

Flanagan: *whimpers in fear*

Gilan: *claps him on the back* you'll be fine.

Flanagan: c - *clears throat* - can I finish the book now?

Halt: yes. But if you even think about hurting anyone again I will make your life a misery.

Flanagan: got it. If I want to live, no hurting.

A few pages later… the (pg. 273)

(Morgarath and Horace during their final showdown)

'Then let's get started!' he laughed and Horace felt his throat go dry as he realised he was now fighting for his life.

Flanagan: I can explain!

Halt: throws himself at Flanagan, Horace not long after him.

Will: I better call 000 (or 911 for you non-Australians)

000 operator person: 000 what's your emergency?

Will: uhhhh yeah we might need an ambulance over here

Operator dude: where are you, and who's injured?

Will: it's Flanagan…. Joh-

Operator: *sighs* John Flanagan?

Will: y-yes. How did you kno—

Operator: was Halt involved?

Will: *shocked* yes?

Operator: *sighs again* an ambulance is on the way.

Gilan: well on that happy note we shall leave Flanagan alone… *grins* for now.

Will: *in the background dragging Halt out of the room* no Halt be a good Halt, don't hurt Flanagan anymore.

Halt: BUT I WANT TOOOOoooooooo…..

*everyone leaves*

*door closes revealing Crowley, who is reclining on a chair eating popcorn*

Crowley: well that was entertaining!
