It was shortly before eight when Kya nocked at the door to Korra's room. Her sister was laying on the bed had her legs crossed and threw a ball in to the air. "Korra?" Kya said shyly. Korra stopped her task, sat up and looked at Kya. "Can I come in for a moment?" Kya asked. "Sure what's up?" Korra said worried when she saw how pale her sister was. "Well", Kya said and sat on a chair, "I'm about to meet Mako and I don't know how to act." Korra laughed. "That's all?" Korra asked chuckling. "Just be yourself, then everything will work out." "Are you sure?" Kya asked. "Of course a date isn't different from a normal meeting but you know that." "Well", Kya said embarrassed and looked at the ground. "Oh my is this your first date?" Korra was shocked she had been sure that her sister had a lot of admirers. "No, but this is somehow different", Kya said sheepishly. "Hey" Korra laid her hand on Kya's and she looked up at her sister. "Everything will go well. Besides you should go now, you shouldn't keep Mako waiting." Kya smiled once more at her sister and then went out off the room through the temple to the landing place, where she entered a small boat and moved herself with the help of waterbending on the other side to the pier. She could already see Mako waiting at the pier. "Hi", he greeted when she stopped in front of him. "Hi", Kya replied. It was somehow strange neither of them knew how to act. "Here I got you something", Mako finally broke the silence and handed Kya a single iris. "Oh Mako it's beautiful, beside it's my favorite flower." Kya took the flower from his hand and smelled it. "I'm glad you like it. Shall we?" "Where are we going?" Kya asked. "You'll see", Mako laughed.

Luckily the tension had evaporated or else the walk of the two through the city had been pretty awkward. "There we are", Mako said finally in front of a restaurant. "Narrok's Noodle Restaurant are you serious?" Kya laughed. "Sure or would you rather eat in Kuang's Cuisine?" Mako asked with an raised eyebrow. "With this stuck-up twits no I like it here." "Right besides they're making the best noodles." Mako laughed and gestured Kya to go ahead. Kya entered the restaurant shortly followed by Mako. "Mako my friend", a young man about Makos age came forward them. "Jin", Mako said and took his hand. "Today with company I see. Avatar Kya if I'm not mistaken?" said Jin. "Just Kya", Kya said smiling. "It's a pleasure." Jin took Kya's Hand and kissed causing Kya to blush. Mako cleared his throat. "Jin would you please take us to a table", Mako requested. "Sure, please follow me." Jin guided them threw the local to a table a little aside and disappeared after Kya and Mako took their places to get noodles. Shortly afterwards he returned with several bowls. "Here you go and Kya if it doesn't work out with our commissioner here I'm still free", Jin said grinning dirty and went away. A cold shiver ran over Kya's back and she shook with disgust. "Sorry Jin is sometimes a real jerk", Mako apologized and took a bowl with noodles. "It's alright but tell me from where do you know this guy?" Kya asked and took a bowl herself. "From my time with the triads", Mako stated dryly. Kya chocked on her noodles and looked at Mako with big eyes. "You where with a triad?" Kya had never expected this Mako seemed to such a serious guy. "I was just an errand boy." Mako had put his bowl down in the meantime. "And why?" Mako had never told so much about his past and Kya had decided to take advantage form this. Mako took a deep breath if he wanted that this with Kya worked he had to be honest with her. "When I was eight my parents where killed by a triad. From then on it was just Bolin and me, I had to make sure that we survived, so I made some minor things as an errand boy for the triads until I was sixteen then I started to work in the powerplants." Kya was impressed, that Mako had shown such responsibility even as a small boy and had done everything for his family. "And the police never minded that you had been a criminal?" Mako laughed and then said: "Lin seemed more interested that I helped your sister to defeat the equalist rather than my criminal past." "Korra seems to have turn your life quite up side down", Kya realized with a smile. "Yeah but enough about me tell me something about your childhood", Mako requested from Kya. "What's there to tell, I grew up in the fire nation as the daughter of the fire lord, I had a carefree childhood." Kya didn't want to say to much because she didn't want Mako to feel bad. "You seem to have a close bond with Izumi, I mean she traveled to the south pole especially for you." "Well Mako after all she's still somehow my mother and Iroh will stay my brother", Kya said smiling. "Did you never had doubts that they are really related to you? I mean everyone out of the family of the firelord got golden eyes and yours are well." "Blue?" Kya interrupted Mako. "Honestly I never paid attention to that." "I see", Mako said even though he couldn't quit understand it. The evening passed without the two noticing it, they eat and laughed and talked about easier things. Until Jin suddenly appeared again at their table. "Hi you two I don't want to interrupt but we like to close for today." Mako and Kya looked surprised at each other the hadn't noticed that it was already this late. "Sure what do we owe you?" Mako asked and removed his purse. "2'000 Yuan", Jin said. "Here keep the rest as compensation", Mako said and pushed the money in Jins Hand. Kya had already gotten up and was on her way outside. Mako wanted to follow her when he was stopped by Jin once more. "Mako I really hope that you can shag her", he said and grinned dirty. "That's not my intention." Mako took Jins Hand from his shoulder and followed Kya. She was already outdoors, had her arms wrapped around her body she seemed to shiver. Mako grinned and laid his jacket around her shoulders. "You know for a girl from the south pole your quite a frost boil." "You forget that I grew up an a Vulcan island on which snow and coldness are unknown." Mako smiled and reached his hand out to Kya. "Come I'll bring you back to the temple." Kya took Makos Hand but when he dragged her in the opposite direction from which they had come she stopped. "We have to go the other way to the temple." "We take an other way back trust me", said Mako. Kya sighed and followed Mako. He guided her through a dark side street and a cold shiver ran down Kya's spine. At the end of the ally Kya was blinded by the light but when her eyes adjusted to the light the view was breath taking. On her left the arena glowed in golden light which reflected in the water before her with the lights of the city. "Wow", Kya whispered and went at the edge of the city. "I thought you would like it", Mako said. "Mako it's" Kya started and turned to Mako but the rest of the sentence got stuck in her throat. "Kya everything alright?" Mako asked and took a step forwards her. "Do you know where we are?" Kya asked and looked up to Mako. Confused he looked around but suddenly he realized it too. "Yeah that's where we thought the striking benders from which you saved us." "Yeah here I got into the avatar state for the fist time", Kya said and shivered by the thought of it." "That was really impressive", said Mako. "Have you never seen Korra in the avatar state?" Kya asked astonished. Mako waved it of and said: "Sure I have but your sister can't create a two colored fire tornado." Kya laughed and reached her hands out and let a miniature version of said tornado dance over her palms. "Like this?" Mako looked at her surprised. "Why is it like that?" he wanted to know when the fire expired again. "I'm not sure. Maybe it's because my history", Kya said with a shrug. "Yeah perhaps. Come let's go." In silence the two walked beside each other. Mako watched Kya as she watched the lights of the city in the water. Finally the reached the landing place in front of the air temple where Kya's boat still lay. "I hope you don't mind if I tell you goodbye here and don't escort you to the island", Mako said. Shortly an expression of disappointment crossed Kya's face but she quickly pulled herself together. "No. You would have a hart time to get back to the main land", she said smiling. Mako returned the smile he had the feeling that he should say something but Kya was faster. "Thanks Mako. I enjoyed the evening it was great." "I think so too and would like to do this again. Only if you like of course", Mako said after clearing his throat. "Sure." For a while the two stood there without saying something and smiled at each other. Finally Kya took Makos Jacket from her shoulders and gave it to him. "Thanks. I should go now. See you soon Mako", Kya said and turned away. While she went to the boat Mako starred at the jacket in his hands he had the feeling that he was letting a good opportunity go. "Kya!" he called shortly before she reached the boat. Kya turned to him once more and looked at him expectantly. Mako crossed the distance between them. "I forgot something", Mako said when he stood in front of her. "What is it?" Kya was frowning she didn't know what was happening. Mako smiled at her, leaned down to her and laid his lips softly on hers. It was just a short kiss because before Kya could react Mako drew away from her. "Good night Kya", he said and kissed her again but only on the cheek this time. "Good night Mako", she whispered when he turned and went away. Confused Kya got on her boat she would have to talk with Mako what this meant.
