Ahsoka hopped off her starfighter. She and Anakin had just returned to Coruscant from a battle at Devaren, which, thanks to Anakin, ended later than necessary.
"Ahsoka, Master Windu says Master Koon is battling at Er'kit and might need our help. We don't have to go yet, but just be ready," Anakin informed her.
"Okay." Ahsoka shrugged, trying not to look as worn out as she felt.
Anakin rolled his eyes. "You know I can sense when you're tired, right?"
"Fine," Ahsoka sighed, "I'm tired."
"Go get some sleep. I'll wake you if I need anything," Anakin said.
"Thanks," Ahsoka mumbled. She turned around and walked through the hallway to her room. Of course, she knew why Anakin had dismissed her to get some sleep. She could sense his feelings of love through their bond, and knew he was going to see his 'secret' wife, Padme.
Ahsoka sat down on her bed and closed her eyes, falling asleep immediately.
When she woke up, Ahsoka got the feeling that something was very wrong. She crossed her legs and closed her eyes, meditating. She saw someone standing in one of the many hallways in the temple. He was a human, with short brown hair and… A metal arm?
Ahsoka blinked open her eyes. She sensed the intruder close by, and cautiously opened the door. She couldn't see anyone near her, but the force was telling her that the man was near the end of the hallway. Ahsoka ran to the end and peered around the corner. Sure enough, she saw the man from her vision standing with his back to her. Ahsoka slowly crept forward until she was about five yards from him.
"Who are you?" Ahsoka asked threateningly.
The man turned around to face her, and looked her over and frowned. "What species are you?" he asked.
"What are you doing here?" Ahsoka said, refusing to answer his question.
"I don't know. I woke up here," the man explained.
"Who are you?"
The stranger seemed to be unafraid of her, just confused. "Bucky," the stranger replied.
"How did you get in here?" Ahsoka asked, her voice more curious now than threatening.
"I told you I woke up here," Bucky repeated.
Ahsoka looked at her communicator. She needed to tell Anakin. She quickly tapped the button to alert him.
"Where is this?" Bucky asked unexpectedly.
"Coruscant," Ahsoka replied cautiously.
"Where's that?" Bucky pressed, clearly getting more annoyed.
Where's Coruscant? Where does he come from? Ahsoka wondered. "Coruscant is one of the core worlds," Ahsoka explained.
"What country is this?" Bucky asked, his voice raised in impatience.
"What are you talking about? We're in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. It's one one of the core worlds," Ahsoka repeated.
Bucky frowned. "We're not on Earth are we?"
"What? No!" Ahsoka said in exasperation, not even bothering to ask where Earth was.
"Damn it. Strange was right," Bucky muttered, clearly to himself.
"Who?" Ahsoka asked, more confused than ever.
Bucky looked like he was going to respond when a voice sounded from behind him. "Bucky?"
Bucky turned around and shifted to the side a bit, so that Ahsoka could see the newcomer. Ahsoka slid her hands down to her lightsabers and ignited them.
"Sam?" Bucky called.
"Are those… lightsabers?" the newcomer called Sam asked.
"Reinforcements are on the way," Ahsoka told him, sensing her master's presence close by.
"We don't want to fight," Sam said. "But who are you?"
"I'm a Jedi," Ahsoka replied.
"Okay, is your name Ahsoka Tano?" Sam asked.
"Oh, come on, how do you know that?" Bucky asked.
"Ahsoka Tano is a Star Wars character, "Sam explained quickly.
Ahsoka's mind was whirling. "How do you know my name?" she asked.
"Ahsoka!" Ahsoka turned her head to see her master behind her. "What's going on?"
"That's what I'm trying to figure out," Ahsoka said, "But I think we should bring them to see the Jedi Council," she suggested.
"Do you know who that is too?" Bucky whispered to Sam
"Anakin Skywalker," Sam told him.
"What- Ahsoka, what did you tell them?" Anakin asked angrily.
"Nothing! But they- or he- knows our names somehow!" Ahsoka exclaimed.
"It's hard to explain," Sam said.
"Where is Earth?" Bucky asked.
"What do you mean?" Ahsoka asked in exasperation.
"The planet, Earth," Bucky said.
"Bucky, they either haven't found Earth, or it doesn't exist in this universe," Sam whispered to Bucky.
"Okay, we'll take them to see the council," Anakin agreed.
"What's the council?" Bucky asked.
"The Jedi Council makes all the big decisions for the Republic," Sam explained.
"Come on," Anakin sighed.
"Wait, why do we have to see the council?" Bucky complained.
"Just go with it," Sam said.
Ahsoka and Anakin led the pair through hallways and up elevators until they reached the council meeting room. They waited outside until Master Yoda allowed them to come in. Ahsoka gave a quick briefing to the council about her encounter with Sam and Bucky. The council dismissed Ahsoka and Anakin to wait until the meeting was over.
"What do you think they'll decide to do?" Ahsoka asked after they had waited in silence for almost an hour.
"How am I supposed to know?" Anakin muttered. Just then, the door to the meeting slid open and Obi-Wan walked out.
"What did the council say?" Ahsoka asked eagerly.
"They agreed to let Sam and Bucky stay here while they figure out this whole mess," Obi-Wan reported.
"But we don't have any spare rooms," Anakin objected.
"Actually, I volunteered the two of you to share your rooms with them," Obi-Wan said, a slight smile on his face.
"You what?" Anakin exclaimed, a look of horror on his face. Privately, Ahsoka was happy with the results; she wanted to learn more about Sam and Bucky, though she'd never admit it.
"I'm sure you'll be able you handle it," Obi-Wan said before walking away.
"Wait, Master!" Anakin called.
"Yes?" Obi-Wan turned to face them.
"When will they be gone?" Anakin asked.
Obi-Wan shrugged. "They might never be." That drained Ahsoka's previous excitement at the prospect of getting to know the newcomers better. Anakin let out a small sigh, but it was clear to Ahsoka that he would rather have let out a loud scream of rage.
As Obi-Wan vanished around the corner, Ahsoka heard the door open again, and Sam and Bucky walked out, escorted by Master Mundi.
"Master Skywalker," Master Mundi said respectfully, "I believe you will be taking care of these two."
"That would be accurate," Anakin said, with equal respect.
Master Mundi nodded and walked off down the hall, leaving Ahsoka and Anakin alone with the two strangers.
"So what exactly is happening?" Bucky whispered to Sam.
"They are going to watch us until they find out what to do with us," Sam whispered back.
"Great," Bucky muttered.
"General Skywalker!" Ahsoka looked down at Anakin's communicator as Rex's voice came through.
"Something wrong, Rex?" Anakin asked.
"Not sure, sir. There's a kid here who says he needs to get into the temple," Rex replied.
Sam looked up curiously. "What's his name?" he asked.
"Uh, he says it's Peter Parker," Rex replied. "Do you know him?"
"Wait, that sounds familiar, who…" Bucky trailed off.
"Oh, that was the spidey kid, remember? You know, the one who was shooting that weird stick web stuff, when we fought with Tony at the airport?" Sam replied.
"He's here?" Bucky asked in disbelief.
"Shut up," Anakin ordered.
"Can you let him in?" Sam asked Anakin.
"I can't just… Oh, fine," Anakin agreed.
"Rex, we'll meet you out there in a moment," Anakin said into the commlink.
"Thank you, sir."
Anakin sighed. "Okay, let's go," he said, motioning with his hand for Bucky and Sam to follow him.
"Are you in the middle of a war?" Sam asked.
"Yes," Anakin answered shortly.
"Don't offer to help them, we already have enough going on," Bucky warned.
Sam took no notice of his friend and said, "we can help you if you want."
"No, what did you do that for?" Bucky complained.
"Look, they're not going to let us do anything else, so the only way to get back to our reality is by ending this war as fast as we can. And since I know who the Sith Lord is, we-" Sam began, but Ahsoka cut him off.
"You know who the sith lord is?" she asked.
"Yes. You'll probably find it hard to believe, but…" Sam trailed off, glancing nervously at Anakin. "It's Chancellor Palpitine," he finished.
"What?" Anakin gasped, then added, "why should I believe you?"
"He just knows, okay?" Bucky said.
"That's not good enough," Anakin said menacingly.
Sam glared at Anakin. "I know what will happen if you don't kill him. You have to trust me."
"Master, maybe we should hear what he has to say," Ahsoka suggested.
Anakin turned to look at her, and for the first time ever, Ahsoka saw his eyes flash with uncertainty. "They're strangers, Ahsoka. How is it that they know what will happen?"
"Well… maybe they know more than just that," Ahsoka suggested, turning to Sam. "What happens to the jedi order?" she asked.
"The order is… executed," Sam replied.
"How?" Anakin asked.
Sam took a deep breath. "The kaminoans placed inhibitor chips in the clones from birth. That will allow Palpitine to give them the order to kill their jedi commanders. As far as I know, only Master Yoda is able to kill the clones before they kill him, and Master Kenobi is able to escape." Sam turned to look at Ahsoka. "And you manage to take out Rex's chip and escape from the other clones."
"What about Anakin?" Ahsoka asked, unable to stop her voice from shaking slightly.
Sam looks nervously at Anakin, then back at Ashoka. "I don't know," he said finally.
"What happens?" Ahsoka pressed. She could tell that Sam knew something, but was afraid to say it.
"Anakin Skywalker becomes Darth Vader, Emperor Palpitine's apprentice," Sam said in a low voice.
"No! You're wrong! Anakin would never turn on the order!" Ahsoka exclaimed, fear taking control of her.
"He.. He had a good reason," Sam backtracked.
"What reason?" Anakin asked.
Ahsoka listened in horror as Sam described how Anakin would have a vision of Padme dying in childbirth, and how Anakin would turn to the dark side because he thought it would save her, but she still ended up dying.
"Anakin… We need to tell Obi-Wan," Ahsoka said shakily.
"What? Oh… Yes, tell him," Anakin responded numbly.
"Are you sure that's correct?" Ahsoka heard Bucky whisper.
"If this is the Star Wars universe, yes, I'm sure. And I'm sure this is the Star Wars universe," Sam replied.
"Well, great," Bucky sighed.
"General Skywalker, are you there?" Ahsoka looked at Anakin's communicator as Rex's voice sounded through it.
Anakin didn't seem to notice it, and Ahsoka had to respond, "We're here, Rex. But we can't come to you yet," she told him, praying that he wouldn't ask any questions.
"Of course, sir. What should I do with the kid?" he asked.
"Um… Take him to Anakin's room and guard the entrance until we get there just in case," Ahsoka ordered, not knowing what else to do with him.
"Yes, sir!" Rex replied before hanging up.
"Anakin?" Ahsoka murmured, "we should take them to one of our rooms," Ahsoka suggested, jerking her head to Sam and Bucky.
"Right," Anakin said, shaking his head as if to clear it.
"Come on," Ahsoka said, heading off in the direction of her quarters.
When they were about halfway to her and Anakin's rooms, Anakin's commlink beeped again. "General Skywalker! We're being attacked by a sith lord!"
"Where? Who is it?" Anakin asked, breaking into a run.
"We're at the front of the temple. I've never seen this sith lord before! He's wearing a hood, and I can't see his face," Rex replied.
"We're on our way, just hold on!" Anakin told him.
Ahsoka followed at Anakin's heels, and they soon burst out onto the steps leading up to the Jedi Temple. Ahsoka's eyes widened in horror as she gazed around her. Dead clones were lying at the foot of the steps as a sith lord slowly approached. Rex was right; this wasn't anyone Ahsoka had fought before. But she knew immediately who it was. They had found Darth Sidious.
