Future?
When Frederick opened his eyes, he and Helen found themselves standing in a street. Being a history teacher, Frederick immediately knew that this neighbourhood was designed to resemble Rome. 'Where are we?' Helen muttered. He remembered what Athena had said, I have come to show you a glimpse of her future. 'The future. I think.'
Looking at the bustling people, Frederick was sure his theory was right. Even though the buildings looked old fashioned, the people wore modern clothes. He confirmed his theory when he saw the year in a newspaper a man was reading, 2023. 'We have to find Annabeth.'
He and Helen approached a Latino man, with so much energy, he looked like he drank thirty cups of coffee, and a beautiful woman, with hazel eyes and cinnamon hair. 'Excuse me?' The couple turned, the man gave them an unnerving grin, 'Hey, I'm Leo, son of Hephaestus and this Calypso, can we help you?' At the name Calypso, Frederick's eyes widened, if this woman was who he thought she was… Calypso laughed, 'Yes, I get that a lot. I'm the Calypso from the myths.' 'Aren't you supposed to be like fifteen?' He asked out of curiosity. 'Technically I would be over three thousand years old, but yes I was immortal when I was imprisoned. But I grew up after this idiot rescued me.' She smirked, while Leo pouted. 'So… you've met heroes like Odysseus?' Her smile faded, her eyes looked sad and wistful. Even Leo looked uncomfortable, 'Uh, that's kind of a touchy subject for her. So was there something you wanted?' Frederick suddenly remembered why he had come to them, 'Oh right-sorry. I'm Frederick Chase by the way. Do you, by any chance, know an Annabeth around here and um, where are we?' Leo looked surprised. 'You're in New Rome. Wait, you said your name is Chase, you're Annabeth's dad?' 'Yes, do you know her?' It was Calypso who answered this time, 'She's a friend of ours. But mortals aren't allowed in here. Speaking of which, how did you get here?' Helen, who had been quiet for a while replied, 'Athena sent us to the future.' Leo looked shocked, 'Whoa! You travelled in time? Sweet!' Calypso rolled her eyes and said, 'I suppose we can find Annabeth, she can probably figure things out.' 'So she lives in um… New Rome?' Helen asked. Leo grinned, 'She designed most of these buildings.' Frederick remembered what Athena had said, She will make me proud. Hearing this, he felt a rush of pride, Annabeth had always talked about wanting to be an architect. 'Wow... so where is she?' 'Uh, we actually only moved in here yesterday, but she won't be too hard to find. We can ask our friends-OI HAZEL!' He beckoned a woman with dark skin, gold eyes and curly hair, who was walking down the street with a pram. 'Gods Leo, ever heard of calling quietly? You'll wake him up!' The women-Hazel gestured at the pram, where a baby was sleeping peacefully. Calypso smiled at Hazel, 'This is Frederick Chase and his wife, they're Annabeth's parents-they say Athena pulled them forward in time or something? Do you know where she is?' Hazel looked at them with renewed interest, 'Oh-She and Frank are practising sparring. I'm heading there anyway, you guys go ahead, I'll lead them.' 'And how is baby McShizzle?' Leo called after Hazel, earning himself a slap in the hand from Calypso.
