Chapter 2
Pacing back in forth in the 'cage' he got an idea. The claustrophobia was really beginning to get to him, and his dad said to see all obstacles as a possibility at a new route. When he discovered the stage blood still in his pocket from the play the pieces clicked together. He continued to act like he had been, claustrophobic, frightened and fighting to get out of the cage though this time he ran full force at the glass. He put the fake blood on his head on impact and fell semily couscous to the floor, moments later the door opened and the guard came in. Grabbing a rock he hit the alien as hard as he could and raced toward the door, hitting the close button on the pallen hoping to lock the alien inside the cage instead the door closed on his captor killing him.
Internally he winced before racing off quietly away.
He heard another guard coming to investigate and snuck into the shadows unnoticed. Staying quiet and in the shadows he snuck away from the cell, unsure of where to go but knowing he wanted to get far away from that small terrible room.
A sudden beeping sound surprised him, and halting he turned on his heels, a smile spreading over his face. After all the trouble it had caused since appearing in his life he'd never been so happy to see the UFO in his life.
"Hey" he ran over with a smile on his face and frowned as he saw the state of the poor machine. Looking around desperately, he held up his hands. "I'll be right back okay"
He knew that his best chance of getting out of here would be to fly out, which meant fixing the ship. Lucky his UFO seemed to be not locked up but held in some sort of waiting area in a mechanic shop of some sort, the area seemed abandoned at least for the moment, what the priority now was, was finding some tools. Grabbing a small tool box and a roll of duct tape he raced back to the UFO. Grateful that no one seemed to be coming around this area he quickly got to work starting with reading the manual.
"Okay, that should hold it" he smiled wryly, he was ready to get out of here. His hands were shaking and he was near his wits end. He wasn't sure if it would hold though, it seemed like it was pretty banged up, he doubted they transported it here gently.
Seeing the ship light up, he prepared to jump in and take off before any more of Armstrong's friends found him, when the ship started beeping. The compartment with the weapons opened and the windshield once again flashed to the frightening images it had shown Ty before this time though it showed a cave and a machine armed by the aliens.
Tyler gulped understanding what the UFO had been trying to tell him. "Their trying to destroy the earth aren't they"
The UFO beeped a reply.
"Their trying to make earth like their planet aren't they"
Another beep.
"What happened to their planet? Huh? Why do they want ours?" he whisper-yelled angrily.
Another series of beeps as the screen showed a lifeless planet light years away.
"That's sad" Tyler frowned. "But that does not entitle them to steal our planet!"
Grabbing the ball from the weapons vault, he steeled himself. "I'll be back here soon, I know what I must do" he took a breath and headed off into the shadows.
"Come on come on" Tyler yelled desperately as he spread through the air. After throwing the bomb it had been a close call as the cave started to collapse he barely made it back to the ship in time. Now with other cruisers hot on his trail he was worried about making it home in one piece!
Tyler jolted forward as one of weapons took purchase making the ship tailspin heading toward the ground and fast. Frantic, he begged the ship to fly, to move upward as he searched for a steering wheel, a control panel, anything! A few falling boulders had hit them on their way out, and the ship had barely been holding on as it was, and now hit..
Covering his head with his hands, Tyler braced for impact.
"Mrs. Burns, we're doing all we can" the policeman tipped his hat.
Tears ghosted Nick's eyes as he watched the police officers leave. He had told his Mom everything. It had been a hard story to tell, full truths had never been his strengths, but he couldn't help but feel foolish that he hadn't done this sooner. It's what Tyler had wanted to do all along, report the UFO to NASA, to be honest with their Mom, to tell the truth. It was Nick's idea to steal the UFO in the first place and get them into all this trouble, and then when strange things started happening to his little brother he'd been so caught up in his own problems to even take notice. All of this was his fault! He slammed his fist into the table.
"Hony, it's going to be okay" his Mom rubbed his shoulders comfortingly, her own eyes laden with worry. "Officer Parker will inform us the minute they find anything." Tears started to flow from his mother's eyes not for the first time this evening as she held her oldest son tight.
Nick buried his face in his Mom's shoulder as his tears started to stream down his face. We'll find you Tyler!
