Chapter 1: Master Levi & Padawan Eren
POV: None
The sound of a metal ball being thrown up into the air and caught over and over again filled the small Conference Room before stopping abruptly. The one throwing the object, a boy with dark brown hair and nine flesh colored tribal markings under each of his sea green eyes, slowly tilted his head upwards to see it hovering in the air. Defying gravity as if it were second nature. Having said that, not all things were able to last. It was a universal truth that all things must come to an end, including both the good and the bad. The metal ball's ability to defy gravity was, in that very moment, one such thing.
"Gak!" The boy cried out as the metal ball fell right between his eyes on the bridge of his nose. The ball continued to fall but when it was less than a hair's width between it and the ground it stopped mid air once again before being sat down without a sound. The boy however wiped the tears in the corner of his eyes that had willed themselves into existence when the metal ball hitting his nose had triggered the reflex. He rubbed around the impact point making sure nothing was broken and sighed out a breath of relief when he found that nothing was.
He bent down and picked up the metal ball, placing it onto the table that was in front of him. The brown-haired boy looked to his right to the only other person in the room with a dirty look.
The person in question was wearing a traditional light brown Jedi robe. His legs were crossed and he leaned casually against the back of his chair. His gray eyes leveled with the boy's dirty look.
"If you wanted me to stop you could have just said something." The boy grumbled as he looked away and crossed his arms. Pouting—not that he would ever admit it of course.
"If you were so bored then you could be cleaning your saber right now—instead of throwing a metal sphere in the air over and over and over again." The man countered. The boy let out another sigh and stood from his seat. Reaching for the belt around his waist he pulled his short one handed lightsaber hilt off and tossed it to the man. The man caught it without so much as a blink of an eye. His steel grey eyes traveled to the object now resting in his grasp. Looking over the blade he studied it fully. The hilt was that of a duelist like the infamous Count Dooku, but it was very different from the former Jedi's weapon.
The handle was slightly curved but it looked more like that of a blasters grip than a traditional crescent dualist handle. Speaking of blasters, the handle had three triggers on it. The first trigger looked like the hand guard of an ancient steel sword seen in museums on Coruscant. This trigger activated the lightsaber blade when pressed down. Due to its position, it made it nearly impossible for it to turn off during combat, allowing the brown-haired boy full access to the hilts handle. The next two triggers were right next to each other. Or more precisely one was above the other. Due to the saber being a dualists blade these triggers allowed the user to make the blade shorter or longer by a total of two inches. It was a form of lightsaber combat that was frowned upon by most traditional masters due to its deceptive nature. However he had no quarrel with the design as it was effective and served a purpose. The blade resets when both are pressed down. Last but not least, at the top of the hilt was a rectangular lightsaber emitter. This was very rare. Not many lightsabers had this. When activated it looked just like the fabled darksaber created centuries ago by the first Mandalorian Jedi and used by the current leader of Mandalore: Darth Maul.
The saber was clean. Not a spec of dirt on it.
The man nodded in approval, tossing it back to his apprentice. "Acceptable work, Eren, it looks clean." For once. The words were not said out loud but what the boy didn't know wouldn't hurt him.
The boy's eyes seemed to sparkle at the praise and he bowed. "Thank you Master Levi." The Jedi Master just nodded and raised his arm up to access his Comm. Link only for nothing to happen. He tried again but again nothing seemed to work. With a frown he addressed his apprentice once more.
"Eren, go to the bridge and ask Captain Flagon how much longer it is until we reach the fleet. I'll go check on the Senator and see if she needs anything. I would rather not be late to the formal peace talks and have a battle start right back up after three months of already costly fighting." Levi ordered. Eren nodded and walked out of the Conference Room. Levi watched his apprentice leave. After the door slid shut he turned away looking at the holographic galactic map on the wall. For some reason he felt like something was off. But he didn't know what…
POV: Eren
As Eren left the Conference Room he pulled his arms behind his back and stretched a little. He and his Master: Levi Ackerman, had left for the planet Liberio with the Senator of the neighboring planet in the Marleyan Sector as the previous senator of Liberio was murdered, before Willy Tyber—an ambitious Separatist advocate—had staged a hostile takeover of the planet with the support of a large Separatist Droid Army around a year prior. The loss of Liberio had caused many in the Galactic Republic to go into a state of disarray as Liberio despite being on the border, was still considered a Core World. However further invasion of the planet was halted when Jedi General Erwin Smith had managed to take out two droid supply ships and stopped several frigates from fleeing the star system, trapping any forces on the planet and keeping new ones from returning.
Eren and Levi were a part of the 845th Star Corps also known as the 'Scout Regiment,' under the command of Jedi Master Erwin Smith himself. Since the planet's fall both master and apprentice had been fighting almost constantly on the planet as the droids implemented new tactics not seen before during the last two years of the war. After taking the capital city, Willy Tyber was captured and placed into Republic custody. Not even a week later the remaining Separatist forces remaining on the planet had surrendered.
And that was where Eren and his Master came in. The previous Senator and king of Liberio was killed during the initial takeover. In place the Senator and Queen of Eren's home planet of Eldia was brought in since both planets were located within the same Sector.
It was something that made him feel strange. Despite being Eldian and being on the same ship for more than a standard galactic day, he hadn't actually seen the Queen of his home planet. His Master had been the one who spoke to her while he was always away doing something or another.
He would have thought more about it more but he had run into something.
"Abel, Peer, sorry about that." Eren apologised with a smile. The two clones in question nodded and laughed it off. The clones wore brown ARF Trooper armor with the joints colored a dark forest green.
"No worries commander, but you might want to watch your step. Just because we are off the battlefield doesn't mean you can go space out on us." Abel said. Despite wearing a helmet, Eren could tell that the clone had a smile on his face. Beside him Peer elbowed his brother.
"Sorry about him Commander Yeager, where do you need to go?" Peer asked, stepping back allowing Eren to enter the turbolift. Eren entered the lift and leaned against the side.
"I'm heading towards the bridge, Master Levi wanted to know how much longer we had before arriving at Liberio but his Comm. Link was out. So he sent me to go ask while he checked in with the Que-Senator." Eren answered, correcting his mistake.
"Huh, didn't think I would ever hear the day that General Ackerman's equipment malfunctioned." Abel mumbled under his breath as Peer hit the button for the bridge. Eren just shrugged.
"Considering how much fighting we have seen, I'm surprised that he hasn't had to replace it yet. I think I have gone through eight of them so far." Eren admitted.
"Maybe it's from all of his excessive cleaning?" Abel wondered aloud. The two others chuckled at that. Despite Liberio being a planet mostly split between pine forests, open plains, mesas, and savannas Levi expected everyone of his troops to find the time and clean their gear on a biweekly basis at the least. While it did annoy many at first it soon became routine and bearable. Some had even found it relaxing and a way to unwind after a long battle.
The turbolift beeped and its door opened.
"Well this is my stop, see you guys later. Hopefully on the planet's surface."
"Right. See Ya Commander." "Take care!" The two said at the same time.
Walking out of the turbolift Eren was greeted at the sight of the ship's modest command center. The ship wasn't that large. It was a simple Pelta-class Medical Frigate. It had few weapons but considering the events that took place almost an hour after the ship and its passengers jumped away from the system, Eren had no problem with it. Coruscant needed the extra help at the time and taking one of its Cruisers for a simple transport mission would have been a waste of valuable resources. He only wished that the ship was a little faster.
"Captain Flagon!" Eren addressed walking into the command center. In response a clone turned to face him. He wore ARF trooper armor like Abel and Peer but he had a black shoulder pauldron over his left arm. When the clone saw him he snapped to attention with a saulute.
"Commander Yeager, you needed me?" Flagon queried. The Clone Captain had fought alongside the Eldian teen since the beginning of the war. The two had grown great respect for one another as they probably would not be standing before each other otherwise.
"Yeah, Master Levi wondered how much longer until we arrive at Liberio. He would have contacted you but it seems that his Comm. Link finally kicked the bucket after all these years." The brown-haired apprentice mused. Flagon let out a hearty chuckle.
"About time. I was beginning to think that he would have gone through the war without replacing it. Shall I send a team to inspect his Starfighter as well?" Flagon jokes before adding, "But enough of that. As for your question, we have about ten more minutes to go. Until then I recommend gathering your things and be prepared to land on the planet."
"Good to hear, Captain. I'll see you then." Eren said as he began to walk back towards the turbolift. Stepping into the lift he gave the captain one last wave before the door slid shut.
It was after that very moment when a Clone came up from behind Flagon.
"Sir, we have a message from Coruscant, it's from the Chancellor…"
POV: Levi
Moments after Eren left, Levi too exited the Conference Room and walked further into the bowls of the ship where the crew quarters were located. As he walked down the brightly lit hallways Levi soon found himself at the entrance to a room. Raising the back of his hand he rapped on the door several times. Not a second later he heard a voice from the otherside.
"You may enter!" Taking his cue Levi used the force to push the door open through use of the panel next to it. Stepping inside he was greeted by a young woman with blonde hair and blue eyes wearing a white dress with gold rims. "Master Jedi," the woman started, "How may I help you at this time?"
"Senator Reiss," Levi bowed out of respect before addressing the reason for his abrupt visit. "My Comm. Link is currently malfunctioning. I sent my Padawan to the bridge to ask how much longer we had until we arrived at Liberio. I came to check up on you; if you needed anything that is?"
Historia Reiss, Queen of Eldia and Senator of the Galactic Republic shook her head. "No I don't believe I do. Thank you for taking the time to come to me though. It is appreciated."
"Of course Senator. My old Master, Erwin Smith, would have my hide if he knew that I was not at least cordial with a higher-up within the Republic." Levi claimed. The young woman's lips turned upwards.
"You sound like you're speaking from experience." She stated. Levi folded his arms.
"I will admit I was rather reckless when I was still a Padawan myself. But at least I never went looking for trouble like my current Padawan." Historia openly smiled at the comment.
"Your Padawan, he's from Eldia right?"
"That's correct Senator, he is Eldian."
"What is his name?" She asked curiously. Levi raised an eyebrow.
"You might not know him or his family."
"Humor me Master Jedi." She motioned for him to continue anyways. Seeing no problem with it Levi did so.
"His name is Eren Yeager and is currently my Padawan—although we both prefer the term Apprentice. He was born in the capital city of Paradis if I recall correctly."
Yeager… Historia mouthed. It was definitely an Eldian name. One of higher class as well. She tried to think of any one she knew with the name but failed to do so off the top of her head. "It seems that you are right. I do not seem to remember meeting anyone by the name of Yeager before. However, I have heard it before."
"Hmm, how about the name Zeke Yeager?" Historia's eyes widened at the name.
"Zeke Yeager, as in-"
"As in the man who was the leader of the Republic Party in Liberio, who was arrested and executed by Willy Tyber, his political rival shortly before the invasion? Yes. They were half-brothers. Both had an Eldian father but different mothers. Eren was rather struck with the news despite never meeting Zeke." Levi recalled the events the day the news came of Zeke Yeagers death. It was exactly an hour before the Jedi Council received the report that a Separatist invasion fleet had reached the world of Liberio. During that hour Eren had become a little reclusive. While there was no familiar relationship between the two Levi believed that his apprentice was distraught over the idea that a known family member had died such a death.
"Just another atrocity that Willy Tyber has commited. Now that I think about it, I met Zeke once several months before the Clone Wars when systems started to leave and join the Separatists in higher numbers. I remember asking him his opinion on joining the Separatists—thankfully he was against it and had faith that the Republic would stand strong and that everything would blow over. I agreed with his sentiments but that was it. While it was not for long I could tell that he was a charismatic leader. While he was no king, his skills in the Senate could rival that of Bail Organa."
Levi listened to the young woman's words before speaking of his own experiences. "I had never met the man myself but one of his underlings, a woman named Lara Tyber, was leading a resistance movement against Tybers rule. I found it funny, her name that is, until I learned that she was in fact Willy Tybers sister. Before we had left for Coruscant it seemed that many were in support of her to run for the position of senator. Once the treaty and war has ended that is. Until then many agree that it would be best for the Republic to oversee the planet directly until then."
"Then I hope to oversee the treaty and complete the signing as soon as possible. It is good to know that I will not have to run two different planets. Being both Queen and Senator takes up most of my time already." Levi allowed a rare smile to grace his lips for a moment before he turned towards the door.
"If you would like, we can continue this with my Padawan present, Senator Reiss. Once we find him that is."
"Of course." Historia said standing up from where she sat. "Lead on."
POV: None
"Sir, we have a message from Coruscant, it's from the Chancellor." The Clone said to Captain Flagon. The Captain in question couldn't help but wonder why. Maybe the war was over and they could all go home? "Someone fetch General Ackerman and Commander Yeager-"
"Uh, Sir…"
"What is it?"
"The message sir, it's addressed to only you." The Clone said. Flagon tilted his head in confusion. Why would anyone address him—a Clone—personally? And the Chancellor for that matter? He had spent too much time fighting to not be paranoid by something so sudden like this, but it was the Chancellor, what was the worst that could happen?
"Understood, put him though." Flagon ordered positioning himself in front of the holotable.
The table sprang to life, and a figure wearing a black hood that Flagon had not seen before appeared. The Caption was startled and was about to question why this person was on a secure channel. However before he could question the figure he spoke.
"Captain Flagon," The cloaked figure spoke in a dry voice that made the Captain feel dizzy. "Execute Order… 66" With those words all the Clones within hearing distance seemed to freeze. It was like time had stopped. But only for a moment. For the next all the Clones seemed to stand unnaturally still. Tilting his head slowly Flagon nodded to the cloaked figure.
"It will be done, Lord Sidious." The Sith Lord cut the connection. Flagon turned to the ship's communications officer. "Contact every Trooper aboard this vessel. Tell them that Jedi Master Levi Ackerman and Padawan Eren Yeager have been marked for termination under Executive Order 66."
One of the Clones spoke up. "Sir, what about Senator Reiss?" Flagon stayed quiet for a moment.
"The Jedi killed her and we were unable to stop them." Was all he said. The Clone who asked the question merely nodded and the order to the rest of the troops on board the ship spread like an inferno in a dry field.
POV: Eren
As the turbolift opened up Eren couldn't help but feel light headed all of a sudden. It felt as if the force itself had tried to slap him but only grazed his skin. He tried to shake it off but that just made him feel nauseous. He had never felt like this before. Ideas passed through his head. Most centered on the topic of 'Was he being attacked?' If so then was the assailant on the ship or half a galaxy away? Eren collides with the wall, but pushes his arms out and uses it for support. Rubbing his head he looked down the metal hallway and saw two troopers about to turn the corner.
"H-hey can one of you come here! I think I need to report to sickbay. T-troopers!?" Eren called from down the hall. Neither of them said anything. They just freezed and slowly turned around to face him. Eren couldn't help but feel like something was wrong—other than himself of course. He called out again. "Troopers respond if you can hear my voice." The two stopped a few meters away from Eren and drew their blasters. Eren's eyes widened in shock and horror as he heard the safeties click off. Honed, after nearly a year of constant high risk battle, his instincts and body went into overdrive. Faster than he ever had before he thrusted his arm out with his palm facing the Clone Troopers. Yellow sparks ran down his arm, condensing in his hand. Then in a flash of yellow light a concentrated arc of lightning sprang to life and bounded forward.
Before either Clone could react, scorching hot arcs of electricity bathed their forms in a shower of agony. They let out unearthly screams as their armor melted and they cooked alive. Eren released his technique, panting. The Clones were on the floor fried to the bone. Being in near constant contact with the separatists had allowed Eren to block out stenches. Which is what he did as he moved past the clones bodys. Even if he didn't he had smelled far worse than them.
Regaining his footing Eren felt the pain in his head lessen greatly but he could still feel it in the back of his mind. However, that didn't matter. What does is figuring out what had just happened. He drew his saber just in case more of the clones attacked him. The flat glowing azure blue sword like blade came to life and hummed with power by his side.
I need to find Master Levi, Eren looked back to the bodys of the clones on the floor. And fast!
POV: Historia
When Queen Historia or Senator Reiss as she was called by her colleagues in the Senate, had taken the mission to make peace on one of the two worlds that shared a Sector with her own, the last thing she thought would happen was a Separatist attack at the heart of the Republic. When news came through that the fearsome General Grievous had kidnapped the Chancellor she could barely rest and stayed in her quarters for most of that day trying to keep up with the situation as best as she could in hyperspace.
When news came of a Republic victory and the death of Count Dooku at the hands of Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, the Queen of Eldia was not ashamed to admit that she had celebrated. Could one blame her? The leader of the Separatists had perished and the Separatist Fleet was in tatters. In her mind it was only a matter of time before the Clone War came to an end.
With the battles that plagued Liberio for a year over she could do her part in ending the costly war for good. However life rarely ever went as planned. Fast forward about a day later and she soon found herself taking cover inside a door frame from blue blaster bolts.
The Clones seemed to have turned on their Jedi General and by association, her.
She and Jedi Master Ackerman were walking towards the bridge when their path was blocked by several Clone Troopers. So far not a single one had died but the Jedi Master at her side had been purposefully redirecting the blue bolts into the walls rather than the men he had fought alongside for close to three years.
"Master Jedi I believe that if this continues, we will need to use lethal force if we are to survive." Historia stated. She had felt that it needed to be said. The Jedi Master gritted his teeth at hearing her words. She could tell that the Jedi knew she was right but it was clear that he didn't wish to harm them. However the Jedi seemed to have found a compromise. Thrusting his hands out he let out a battlecry. The Clones blocking their path were lifted into the air and were thrown back. They soared through the air like ragdolls and impacted the wall leaving behind dents in the steel paneling as they fell to the floor.
Stepping out of cover, Historia moved to the Jedi's side. The force wielder let out a single pant and no more than just that. This was the first time she had ever seen a Jedi in action. His awe inspiring power drew her curiosity. While it looked like he used a lot of energy when using his power the moment he stopped he looked hardley winded.
She shook her head. Now was not the time to get distracted. Brushing past him she stood before the pile of knocked-out Clones and stole a blaster pistol off the ground.
"What are you doing?" Historia turned around to see the Jedi less than a few feet away staring intently at the weapon in her hand. "Put that down, I don't want anyone to get hurt."
Historia resisted the urge to frown but her tone of voice perfectly conveyed what she felt from his statement. "And why is that? Afraid that I'll hit you when your back is turned? Just because I'm a Queen and Senator does not mean I lack the skills to protect myself." Historia challenged.
He shook his head disagreeing with her statement. She was about to retort but his words shocked her into silence. "I have no doubt that you can protect yourself. But I don't want to hurt the Clones," His eyes flickered to the pile of clones on the floor behind her before returning back to her. "Any more than I have too. I owe them that much."
"I am not sure you noticed but your Troopers do not seem to share your sentiments." The evidence to her claim was all around them in the form of black scorch marks along the walls of the corridor they were in. The Jedis' hands tightened their hold on his sabers before loosening slightly.
"Fine." He said. He got close and spoke his next words barley above a whisper. "But you aim to maim, not kill." She nodded. He took a step back. "I'm glad we came to an agreement. Come I can sense me Apprentice a deck above us."
POV: Eren
Eren was not like a normal Jedi. While most were calm and collected or content and cheery, he felt energized when in motion, from the outside he looked like a reckless hooligan but he wasn't. He was just different from the others. He had an easier time connecting with the force than others in his Initiate Clan. But it made him feel restless. While most felt the force best when meditating, he felt it call out to him when his adrenaline was flowing and he felt his blood pumping in his ears.
He had never told anyone this but the rush that he felt in battle… It made him want more. It excited him. The feeling of yourself in such a heightened state of awareness. It felt more addictive than even the highest quality of spice on the black market.
Even now as he rushed through the halls of the small medial frigate he was in, leaping and bounding off the walls like a wild animal. Spinning and twisting his body in ways not normal for those who were not force sensitive. The blue lasers traveled close to his body. But they didn't matter. Driving his hands behind him he pushed himself forward with the use of the force. The simple use of the power that gave him an identity made him tear through the air. Much like a force dash but faster. And the Clones had no clue what was happening. Twisting his body he continued his use of the force and he spun like a sideways top.
One last twist and he landed back onto the floor gracefully. He looked back to see all the Clones who were shooting at him mere moments before where slumped against the walls with still glowing cuts in their armor.
"He's over here, come on!" Eren heard a voice from the hall behind him. Eren didn't bother to fight the smirk that up turned his lips. Turning he held his blade in front of him. However just as the Clones turned the corner they rose from the ground and crashed into the wall. Eren lowered his saber in time to see his Master and the Senator turn the corner.
Eren rushed forward, "Master-"
Thump!
Eren was unable to finish his sentence as he was cuffed harshly on the head.
POV: Levi
Despite being a very calm Jedi, Levi felt anger like he had never before. When he turned the corner he froze. His Apprentice had his lightsaber ignited. The air smelled like ozone and he was surrounded by the dead bodys of Clones who seemed to either have died from a lightsaber or electrocuted. When his appenrice moved to him he hit him stunning the brown-haired teen.
"W-what- Master?" Eren looked visibly confused by his actions. Grabbing Eren by the hem of his shirt the shorter man hoisted the teen up and pressed him against the corridor wall.
"Eren." His voice was deathly quiet. "What. Have. You. Done?"
Eren's eyes narrowed a fraction before widening to the size of dinner plates. He tried to reason with his Master. "Master, I'm sorry, they left me no choice. It was either me or them." Levi didn't like his answer but he knew that now was not to be fighting amongst themselves.
"We will be speaking about this once we find out what is going on." Eren nodded mutley, staring at the floor. He knew why his Master was angry however that was not why he looked at his feet in shame. For he had no regrets about what he had just done.
Levi looked at the bodys of the Clones for a second before shaking his head. "Come one we need to get to the bridge."
"Why the bridge?" Historia questioned.
"I sense that we will find our answers there." Was all Levi said. Begrudgingly the Senator accepted this and followed the Master Jedi with his Padawan following the both not far behind.
It was not long before they had found the turbolift and taken it up to the bridge.
What Levi and Eren saw made them wish to wake up from whatever nightmare they had.
The only Clones left on the ship were standing at the controls with their blasters pointed at them.
"General, Commander. I assume the others have failed." The Clone in the center, Flagon spoke. His twin pistols aimed at both of their chests. They shifted a little, putting the Senator safely behind him.
"Captain, put down your blaster and no-one else will get hurt." Levi said. His voice was calm. Too calm. There was almost no emotion held within it.
"I'm afraid we can not do that sir." Flagon retorted.
"Captain, Flagon, we fought side by side for three years. This was our last mission. Just a week at most and the war will end I guarantee it. Put down your weapon and explain to us what is happening." Levi tried to reason.
"Your wrong sir, the war already ended."
Phew!
The blue laser hung in the air, the Clones seemed to freeze as well. Both Historia and Eren turned their heads towards Levi. His hand was out and shaking slightly. He flexed his hand and the blue bolt seemed to split into three and launched back in its sender's direction. The moment the Clones were freed from their force induced prison it was too late. The bolt hit all of them simultaneously in the chest. They fell to the floor like flies.
And Levi followed.
"Master!" Eren exclaimed in panic. Levi was panting. Unlike the first force technique he had used, the most recent made him use up a great amount of energy. He felt as Eren and Historia moved to either side of him and lifted him up.
"Check the ship's systems and get a message out to Erwin. We still don't know what's going on."
"Of course Master," Eren said. A worried look plastered onto his face. Something that Levi wasn't used to seeing directed to himself. He felt his eyes grow heavy.
"Eren."
"What is it, Master?"
"You're in charge, I need some rest." He saw Eren nod his head rapidly. Taking it as his cue Levi closed his eyes and entered the realm of dreams.
Yes the story was more than a little rushed. But on the brightside the chapter is a LOT longer than others. It is the magic of One-Shots! I hope you enjoyed it.
For those who do not know I gave Eren the force ability: Electric Judgement. Its real, Star Wars Comics made a Video about it. Its rare but not unheard of. I thought that it was fitting since I took away all the Titan powers that Eren could keep his lightning.
I will also admit that Historia was written strangely, this was because I was trying to make her sound more regal. And as for Levi... well... I will wholeheartedly admit that I had no idea where to start for his character and that I just sort of went with what I felt was not right per-say but at the same time not wrong either. The end was anti climatic and I promise to do better next chapter. As I said in the Chapter before leave suggestions on what you want to see and I'll try to write them!
