Day 0 chapter 1: Detonation

It was supposed to be a normal visit, or at least as normal as visiting your superhero brother could be. Rip Runner had some business in town already, a visit to the patent office to file some new designs for the family business. Rip was glad his father was finally involving him after the fiasco with the Robo Amigo. Although he had to do a lot to make up for it, he was finally at the point where his father trusted him to do some business tasks by himself.

"Yeah Pa I just left. I didn't have any problems with the application." Rip was just pulling out of the parking lot in the family car, his parents on call through the car's bluetooth. With the rest of his family getting differing levels of super speed from the meteor, it was rarely used anymore except for groceries or if Rip had to go somewhere. So for the most part it could be considered his, though he still needed permission to drive it.

"And-you-made-sure-to-get-copies-of-all-the-documents-I-asked-for?" Asked his father Ralph.

"I went through the list three times to be sure." Ralph was always critical of every mistake, so Rip always made sure to triple check everything behind himself.

"Alright-I'll-go-over-them-when-you-get-home-just-be-careful-not-to-be-left-alone-with-that-coyote-I-don't-care-what-Rev-says-about-him-you-never-know-when-his-instincts-could-kick-in-and-you-don't-have-speed-like-your-brother." The expected speciest comment made him sigh, his father was very very slowly coming to tolerate Rev being friends with the coyote Tech. Rip just hoped this improvement continued for his brother's sake.

"And-don't-forget-to-ask-your-brother-about-joining-us-for-dinner-with-the-Sprinter-family." His mother butted in. "They-have-the-loveliest-children-the-daughter-is-the-same-age-as-Rev-and-plans-to-go-to-ACME-MedTech."

"Maaaaa…" started Rip, "you know how he feels about-"

"Oh-I-know-but-he's-so-busy-running-around-saving-people-he-doesn't-get-a-chance-to-go-out-and-socialize-and-you-know-how-I'd-love-to-have-grandchildren-from-the-both-of-you-I-mean-I-wouldn't-complain-if-you-hit-it-off-with-her-instead-since-your-only-2-years-apart." She interrupted.

"I have plenty of time to find someone myself Ma, also you know my opinion of Rev's interests." Mostly he added in his head. He was positive Rev was gay for a number of reasons, mainly the difference in his reactions to attractive members of each sex, and he shared as much with both his parents and his brother. When brought it up to his brother, he got a 3 full seconds of silence after delivering the argument, a record he doubted would be repeated any time soon. Rev didn't outright deny the possibility but wanted time to figure himself out before declaring anything. The one thing he didn't bring up to either his parents or brother though, was the obvious attraction between Rev, and his best friend Tech. He had asked their teammates if they were secretly dating after seeing how they interacted, and how Tech was 90% of what Rev talked about with Rip whenever he asked how things were. The team basically said that it was obvious to everyone but the two in question that they were in love with each other, but they were going to leave it to the two of them to figure it out for now, so Rip decided to leave it at that.

"Well-if-you're-right-then-the-Sprinters'-son-is-out-as-bi-and-only-a-year-younger-"

"All right!" It was Rips turn to interrupt this time "I'll talk to him but no pro-"

*Earth Shattering KABOOM*

This time the universe decided to interrupt. As he passed by the ACME Medical Research Hospital, several explosions went off in the building, including one blasting apart a wall right in front of the car. Rip barely remembered anything after that other than uncontrollable spinning, pain shooting through his body, and the panicked voices of his parents cutting out on him before everything went white.

Later during the emergency response, the Loonatics would encounter a new villain while attempting to rescue the survivors. He had the power to turn images into real objects and carried several weapons and military magazines on him which included guns, grenades and more. He nearly escaped when the teams speedster Rev ran into his family's car while after him, and discovered his brother's dead body. During an investigation into the criminal's connection with the hospital, it was discovered he was a patient of one Dr. Hazel. She had been fired from the hospital and had her license revoked for her unethical experiments on patients whose DNA had been changed by the meteorite, whether the mutation was active or inactive. Her goal appeared to be an attempt at artificially creating super powered individuals. The following days showed a sharp increase in the number of superpowered criminals suggesting she succeeded, and until her capture the Loonatics felt a great deal of physical and mental stress on top of the emotional distress from losing someone they knew. At the same time another threat had begun to stir, but in a place out of reach of the heroes the world knew. Within the next week, either new heroes would rise, or the city would fall.

so no idea how many chapters each day will have yet, but probably at least 2, regardless I have a basic plan for the main plot, but need some time to come up with missions and stuff so there will probably be a bit of a slow down after day 1. As for the events that happing to the Loonatics? I don't know if I'll be doing a separate story for that, but expect to hear about the state of the city during the Reaper's Game.
