Hello, it's me, coming with an update to this fanfiction! Enjoy, and sorry for the grammatical mistakes.
The plaited and black haired teenager sits back on her seat, buckling up the safety belt as the jet starts to climb.
"What would you both do once you are entering Robert's house besides observing? I mean, what would we find and should we prioritize?" asks Megan to her new teammate, her hands grasping the arms of her seat, hard. Lottie does not give any single word. Instead, she raises an eyebrow then glances at Lee, indirectly wanting him to answer as he is the oldest and the leader of the team.
"Umm, ... Lee?"
"Since he is the suspect of that photo filter mayhem, there we obviously need something to do with technology. And I guess we will need Marc after all." With one of his thumbs, Lee points at Marc.
"So that means, we are still here and waiting for you three to come back." Tony says as he unbuckles his seatbelt.
"Not exactly like that," Marc comments, after changing the mode in the jet into autopilot. Then he gets up from his seat. "We have not set the time limitation for observing the house. If our parents are already calling before us three are coming back to this jet, then just leave and park the vehicle in WOOHP garages. We will transfer the datas as soon as possible, then you two may tweak it and make some conclusions from it before submitting to Jerry."
Tony immediately sits on the spot where Marc just gets up—the place for the co-pilot.
"Alright, we are 10000ft above his house. Megan, I need that device of disguise in case of something unexpected." Lee stands up, letting Megan take the lead on the pilot seat. She then gives the gadget to Lee.
"From this point, the people would mistake the sounds of our jet like regular airplanes passing by far up and high, since the WOOHP jets tend to be quieter than average jets, although not entirely silent." Marc walks to the cabin door as he speaks. Lee and Lottie are tailing on his back.
"We only have 60 seconds to go down, so… be prepared for your parachutes." He continues, seeing the cabin door opens to jump after that.
Lottie is the last to jump after Marc and Lee to the darkened sky. Once she sees that both young men are equipping their eye gadgets to mark the locations of their landing, she does the same as them both. Three parachutes—cobalt blue, bright red and deep aubergine—appear once they are not really far away from the roof of the building. Those things are packed neatly once again to their suits after their shoes hit the roof.
[ Robert Lapointe's House, 04:07 P.M ]
Marc squats down, letting his green eye gadget that is placed on his left eye scan the entire building.
"Okay. Nobody's home." He whispers. Lottie is already walking to the side of the medium-sized house in silence, climbing down to the window. The lass stares into the things beneath the glass for a while before picking up the paperclip on her hair to open the lock. She then enters through the window quickly.
Marc's hazel orbs avert to Lee. His older brother stares back with a meaningful glance before he gives the signal to follow.
"She's fast." Lee remarks.
The room that they are visiting now is dark, and they have no intentions to turn the lights on whatsoever. ('What if the neighbours are noticing. They would obviously think that we are burglars!' whispers Lottie. 'Yeah, we know it. You can just rely on your eye gadget to search something in the dark, Lottie,' Marc replies calmly.)
Once Marc's eyes are set on the laptop that lays on a desk, Lottie pulls the curtain as a cautionary action—she thinks that the light from the pc screen would be clearly visible from the outside. Lee places a hand on her shoulder, signaling her to observe the other rooms.
"His parents come home unusually late due to their jobs, and now, Robert himself is probably attending a party in one of his friend's condo." Lottie says in a low voice while walking through the dark hallways with Lee. She spots a family portrait of three, hanging on the wall. The blonde young man smiles haughtily among two adults in that portrait.
"So, you're … friends with him, or…?" asks Lee.
"No—and not like that also. We're classmates, that's it. He is the jock. Like … you, maybe. He's popular enough for everyone to know what his parents' jobs are. And… f-y-i," She walks toward a wooden door on the end of the red-carpeted hallway.
"I have visited here, once, when Robert was my group partner for a project." Lottie continues, using the clip gadget to unlock the door. She inserts the paperclip through the keyhole until the gadget beeps, following an unlocking sound after that.
The smell of dust and old papers emerges from the room once Lottie swings the door. They both cannot see anything but pitch blackness. Lee steps forward, activating the night vision in his eye gadget to scan the surroundings. He finally gets to see the appearance of the room.
It is mostly filled with bookshelves that almost reach the ceiling. Lee can tell that some of them are really old because of the form of the cover and the amount of dust that accumulates on the surfaces of those things.
"He is the one who contributes those face-changing filters, right. There is a PC on the corner of this… library? maybe you should check that out. Can you hack?" Lee asks and comments at once while looking at the new teammate, who is now standing before a bookshelf and observing the contents on it.
"Not really. Hacking isn't really my area of expertise. Should we wait for Marc? Ah, nevermind! Maybe he has already gained access to every device in this house." The girl's index finger aims at the flickering red and green lights on the CPU.
That makes sense. "Hey, Lottie, … can I ask you something?"
"Robert-related or non-mission related?"
"Non-mission related…"
'Guys.' Marc's voice can be heard on each of Lee and Lottie's gadgets. 'I found something that may lead us to investigate this phenomena further, but I can't really explain it for now.'
"Why?" asks Lee while activating his eye gadget and walking up to one corner of the room, staring at the hanged calendar. He notices something after flipping up December.
'Ok, straight to the point since our time is actually VERY limited—according to the GPS that I tracked from the network through the desktop access of apps in his phone, he is walking home and will arrive in approximately, 5 minutes from now. I am still trying to fetch some more information right now. For now I have received the files of the filter.'
"Lottie, look." Lee points at a piece of yellow paper ripped from school notebooks taped in the wall, written by a red marker with a sequence of numbers.
'What have you found, Guys? Careful, he gets nearer. I am almost done and I'll go to the roof in a moment. Meet me there before we all fly back to the jet.'
"It's like a coordinate and a date… for… the day after tomorrow?" Lottie says.
Lee squints his eyes. The day after tomorrow is the day of the winterfest...
"We better document it for later purposes." Lee activates his communicator—now in the form of a holographic screen out of the bracelet-like device on his wrist area of his spy suit instead of an MPCOM—and photographs it before sending it to Megan and Tony.
'Guys, I am on the roof and Robert is on the front door.'
Hearing that, Lottie proceeds to search for a window with her eye gadget. When she finds it, she goes behind the dusty curtain and opens the window slot. Discreetly and swiftly, she exits the room to the outside then climbs the wall immediately.
Lee follows her after, but slower in motion.
Those three crawl on the roof, observing the blond teenager that is facing his front door with whistles. His hand is reaching his hoodie pocket, probably for the key.
"His face," whispers Lottie, shock mixed with worry are the right terms for her expression right now. Her orbs are fixating to her classmate, now looking like he has shone through a sunset yet the sky is already dark. Not gonna lie—the girl thinks he is more handsome from the last time she saw him at school. But the handsomeness … is looking very artificial.
"Much… like the human equivalent of a male play doll that every little girl loves." With barely an audible whisper, Marc comments. He then photographed Robert's face with his communicator on the wrist.
They wait until the sound of keys followed by a door slam could be heard. Lee heaves a sigh of relief then whispers, "Phew. Now I can see why Megan told us if Tammy's face is getting freaky. I thought mens in sparkles upon the women in cartoons see them is just purely an exaggeration. I can't believe that I am seeing that… live. Okay, let's get back to the jet."
Marc, then Lee and Lottie fly back to the jet with their shoejets. They go back to the WOOHP headquarters to submit the informations to Jerry.
"Interesting," the british man comments, pressing several keys on his desk until the background of his desk changes to a portrait of a woman with very heavy makeup. Even the glitters on her eyelids and lips seem glittering from that picture. "Marc traced Robert's hidden and decrypted electronic mailbox and it led to… the second suspect. Deborah T. Arsenault. A social media youth influencer."
"What about the coordinates?" asks Tony.
Jerry presses a button, showing a red dot and a zoomed-in aerial view plus some street view pictures from the coordinate. The Clark siblings know well where it is exactly, as they routinely go to the place. The building's name that was erected in iron is visible for them to read and the familiarity of it sends Lee to automatically grab his phone, remembering about Tammy.
"You better investigate it on the date from the note, Spies. Which is the day after tomorrow." Jerry says.
"... Fortunately we have Winterfest on that day! Although I am not allowed yet to attend since I am in 9th grade. Hey, Marc! Could you invite me as a guest since you have no dates?" Tony stands from the bean bag sofa, staring at Marc with a delightful smile.
"... eh, sure?" The young man in the blue spy suit awkwardly responds.
"Alright, so that means… We four get to investigate and leave Lee to dance with Tammy?" Megan remarks. She smiles excitedly.
Panicking, Lee responds. "Hold up … No, no, no! I don't even answer her 56 texts! YET!"
"Did you get to ask Lottie?" Megan whispers to her older brother once they are back with their regular clothes, walking through the streets of Southdale with their new mission teammate. Lee shakes his head, glancing up to the girl with her school uniform; deep blue blazers, grey tartan skirt, knee-high black wool socks and a pair of black mary janes. Unlike when she wears her spy suit, her black hair is hanging down to her hips.
He stares down on her phone screen, seeing that Tammy is calling, again. The oldest Clark sighs. If he gets to ask Lottie, he'll surely be happier and enjoying the Winterfest more as it lasts. But if Tammy is rejected… The worst scenario will go just as bad as when he accepted her. As her date.
"Lottie, may I ask you something?" Megan taps the girl's shoulder as they are walking. The private school student's face turns to the second-oldest Clark.
"Sure thing, ask anything you want!" Lottie chirps, smiling.
"Your brother… is he single?" Hearing that, the light blue eyed girl giggles. "No," she replies, "her g-f is someone from Paris WOOHP branch."
" … umm, okay...?" Megan responds meekly.
"So," Lottie stops her track, glancing at each of the Clark siblings. "See you tomorrow after school in Siber Smoothie!" Then she walks up to the zebra cross nearby. After that she runs to a man on a motorcycle. The man opens his helmet, revealing himself to be Frederic. Yes, the Clarks have settled a meeting with her tomorrow after school to discuss the mission. Before that, Tony and Megan would investigate Deborah T. Arsenault in their recess session at school.
Lottie's brother nods at the Clarks before riding his motorcycle away with his sister on the backseat.
"Now I must prioritize myself to get a date tomorrow!" Megan complains. Lee swipes the accept button on his phone after Tammy calls, again. He proceeds to put the sound on loudspeaker, thinking that hearing Tammy up close in one ear is more … tiring.
'Hey, Lee! What took you so long to answer? I said, ASAP… but you just responded after TWO HOURS!' One thing from Tammy that does not change after the span of three years, for sure: Her voice is still annoyingly squeaky. Especially when she whines or brags.
"Sorry… I …" He tries to make up an excuse. There is no way telling her that he went to an operation of espionage. He can hear Megan, Tony and Marc try to hold up their laughs once again.
"Helped my father load the new stocks of sportswear in his store with my siblings."
'Oh 'kay… now for the answer. Will you be my date on Winterfest? Yes, OR nah?!'
Tony nudges Lee, "Just answer it, Bro."
'YES, or NAH?'
"There is no difference, actually. If you say no, she'll claim you as her date without your consent because you have no dates." Marc says. Yup. There is certainly no way out for this situation. So Lee decides to...
"Alright, I will … be your date, Tammy." A happy squeal can be heard from the phone speaker, then Lee abruptly hangs up. "Let's hope I won't be with her at my prom next year."
He facepalms. Hard.
"But, for Lottie… how do we invite her? I mean, we each have the maximum capacity of one person to invite. Lee with Tammy, Marc with Tony, and I will search for my date tomorrow. Maybe the basketball or soccer captain would agree! I planned to invite Lottie's brother—yes, he's a catch—but it turns out he is not available." Megan says dramatically.
"A-ha! How about this," Marc's face brightens as if he is having his eureka moment, "You invite Tony, then I will invite Lottie tomorrow. To think that her face is reminding me of Sheena Weston—ahem, that beauty mark—Who knows if she likes science as I do? And the way she talks, it is satisfying to hear her accent."
"Geez, stop dreaming, Genius! You do not even know if she is really going to accept you if you try to invite her." Megan remarks while ruffling her twin brother's hair.
"Hey, actually I was joking." A loud laugh erupts from Tony, "Yesterday, a girl from 10th grade asked me to be her date. Of course I accepted!"
"WHAT—but who?!" The Clark twins react in unison.
Tony places his index finger in front of his lips, "It is a secret. Wait for two days to find out."
Then he pats Lee's shoulders repeatedly. "That's alright, Bro. It is just one day. You could just reject her if she makes more advances to you after the Winterfest is over."
TO BE CONTINUED
Okay, that is the update!Actually, due to the settled genre of this fanfiction, I really don't have any plans to pair Lottie up with any Clarks even Megan. Maybe it would be developed in another mission if I have finished this fanfiction. If you have any comments regarding the characters or the plot of this story, please leave it on the review section. If I have any mistakes, I'll revise it as soon as possible. Thank you!
