God
Akito was a God. Their God. The God of the Junishi. It was what she had been told all her life. Her birth was expected. Her father told her that she was special, that she was born to be loved. She had believed it and she still believed it.
So why did she feel so lonely if she was a God ?
No one could understand this strong bond which united the Junishi and their God. And certainly not this woman who did everything to break her. And yet this bond that made her happy as a child now made her so miserable and scared. She felt deep down in her heart that their bond was weakening more and more every day. They were moving away from her. Kureno, who had promised to stay with her forever, was hiding things from her. And Yuki. He was not freed from the curse, but his eyes he had on New Years, she felt like seeing Kureno's eyes on the day he was freed. She was in pain. Without this bond that united them, without their love for her, she felt lost.
What kind of God could she be ?
She remembered Ren's words. A fake bond, a love that was not real, all she believed in was a lie.
'Shut up !' Akito yelled.
She grabbed the cup of tea a servant had brought her and threw it against the wall of her bedroom. The empty cup broke into pieces.
'Akito.'
Akito did not turn around. Shigure walked past her and picked up the pieces on the floor.
'It's dangerous,' he said softly. 'You could hurt yourself.'
What was he doing here ? Had he come to make fun of her or to say nasty things to her ? Shigure troubled her, more than anyone. She was unable to know what he was thinking. He seemed to not care about anything she could do or say. Sometimes she felt like she was his world and he only loved her. And other times, she felt like he hated her and wanted to break her.
'Why are you here ?' She asked.
Had he come to see this woman?
'I wanted to know how you were doing.'
He smiled at her with a mischievous smile that she both loved and hated. He was there for her and she believed him. After all, she was his God and she was everything to him. And despite everything that had happened between them, he was everything to her.
She walked over to him and grabbed his jacket. He was wearing a suit, something he rarely did except when he had a business date or attending a reception.
'Take me in your arms,' she said.
He wrapped his arms around her waist waist and hugged her. He ran his hand through her hair and kissed her forehead, her cheek, her lips. He kissed her neck and her shoulders he had stripped. He carried her to her futon. It was only in his arms that Akito felt truly loved. It was only in his arms that she was no longer a God, but a woman.
The end
