It was a sunny day in Saitama, not a cloud in the sky to be seen, this type of weather always put a smile on Kawaki's face, yet he wouldn't let anyone see it.
He stepped out of his property and onto the road, today was his first day at U.A High School! A school which housed some of the most promising heroes and heroines of the next generation.
Looking left Kawaki saw a person wearing U.A. uniform walking his way. Dark green hair was her most noticeable trait, 'she's small' Kawaki thought as he waited for her to catch up to him.
Leaning on the concrete wall that protected his house Kawaki watched as the girl got slightly bigger as she came towards him.
"Yo" Kawaki said with a quick reverse peace sign gesture.
"Hey" the girl replied with a slight smile, her eyes and head angled up to look at Kawaki's face.
"1st year?" Kawaki asked as he shifted into a walking position, now side by side with the girl.
She nodded. "Yeah I am! You too?" she asked rather energetically.
"Yeah, class 1A" Kawaki responded as he looked down at the girl and by default her bag, which had a little dinosaur keyring.
"Oh, I'm in 1B" she said looking up at the taller human. "But we're both in the heroics department right?"
Kawaki nodded.
"Ooh you must have a crazy strong quirk then! What is it?" the girl asked with enthusiasm rolling off of her.
"Aren't you gonna ask my name first?" The boy asked looking forward paying attention to his surroundings.
"Hey, you started the conversation! You should be asking for my name, not the other way around!" She ranted with a hint of sass added.
Sighing Kawaki introduced himself, "Kaminari Kawaki, and your name is?"
The girl grinned, showing her sharp teeth. "Tokage Setsuna, nice to meet ya Kawaki-kun!"
'Kawaki-kun? Not new but we just met' the said black and blonde boy thought with a hum. "My quirk… try and guess it"
"Not much of a talker eh?" Setsuna teased as she began to think hard.
"Kaminari is your last name right? Well it probably has something to do with electricity" She started. "Given your height and your age, maybe something like a lightning rod?"
"Close but not really, my quirk's name is Thor" Kawaki says as the two stop walking, stopping at a crossing.
"Oooh like the old Norse god?" she asked with a toothy smile.
"Yeah, basically I can fly, absorb and channel lightning as well as manipulate the weather, oh and don't forget that if I absorb energy I gain a level of strength, speed and durability equal to the amount of energy absorbed, like if I absorbed a normal battery my strength would be multiplied 12 for one second if I used it all at once, basically following the basic watts to joules conversion table, watt = time (second) x Joules" Kawaki said in a dry tone. "Nothing special really"
"Are you shitting me? You basically have an S Class quirk and you say it's nothing special? Dude get real with yourself and stop being humble" Setsuna scolded as they pair began to walk across the road having a green crossing signal.
"It was pride that changed angels into devils; it is humility that makes men as angels" Kawaki quoted, Setsuna looked at him with a confused look on her face.
"Okay I know you didn't just make that up! Who's your source?" Setsuna asked with a pout.
"Augustine of Hippo" Kawaki answered. "A Christian philosopher from the 1st Century"
"Damn that's old! I mean not as old as dinos but still pretty old" Setsuna stated with a smile. "I'm guessing you like history?"
"I guess you could say that" Kawaki replied. The two stepped onto an escalator that would take them to the train station. "What about your quirk?"
"Prepare to be amazed! My quirk is called Lizard Tail Splitter! It allows me to split my body into several pieces and control them telekinetically!" She said with pride.
"Useful quirk" Kawaki said, pushing a hand though his hair, "You could have been the world's greatest thief"
Setsuna laughed at this comment. "I actually was a thief until about 12 months ago" she explained. "That was until Midnight caught me… and somehow I got recommended for the U.A recommendations exam"
"So I'm guessing you are a recommended student?" Kawaki asked as the two stepped up to the platform which would hold the train they were meant to board in order to go to school.
"What about you? A person with a powerful quirk like yours must have been recommended" Setsuna concluded, her smile sticking on her face through every syllable.
"I was recommended" Kawaki announced but didn't say anything else.
"Really! By who! Tell me!" she shouted drawing the attention of nearby people.
"Ingenuim and Ryukyu" Kawaki said as he looked down on the ground, feeling a bit uncomfortable.
"Wow! That's awesome! Can you tell me how it happened?" Sestuna asked, unaware that it was a sensitive subject for Kawaki.
"I'd rather not talk about it" Kawaki said quietly, this time Setsuna noticed his downed mood.
"Ok" she said in response, she let the awkwardness settle for a second before preparing to start a conversation about something else, she looked at Kawaki and noticed his desperate expression.
Something didn't feel right with that expression to Setsuna, so she did something about it and detached one of her hands using her quirk and used the telekinesis part of it to make sure that the hand was directed above Kawaki's head.
She began to lightly scratch his head, she noted that his hair was very soft and silky despite how spiky it looked, she saw his surprised expression when he felt this. "Hey Big Boy, you're not enjoying this this are you?" she asked with a smile on her face.
He looked at her and smirked. "What if I am?"
Setsuna felt her cheeks warm slightly after seeing his smirk but quickly regained her composure. "Enjoy it because it's not going to last any longer" she stated as she retracted her hand and popped it back into place.

"See ya later Tokage-san" Kawaki said as he waved goodbye.
"Call me Setsuna, Kawaki-kun" she said with a wink before disappearing into her own classroom.
Kawaki continued to walk to his own classroom, he noticed the giant door and sighed. 'When I open this door, the next three years will be hell… let's get this'
Kawaki opended the sliding door to reveal a chatting classroom that was about half filled. He stepped in and waved "Yo".
"KAWAKI YOU BASTARD!" a familiar voice shouted. "YOU SET ALL THE CLOCKS IN THE HOUSE TO BE AN HOUR AHEAD!"
Kawaki chukled. "You're always late anyways, at least because of me you made it here before the start of class"
The black and blonde teen looked around the room, most of the class was grouped to the door wall, chatting away.
A teen with glasses and dark blue hair robot walked his way. "My name is Ida Tenya, it's a pleasure to be spending this year with you!"
"Kaminari Kawaki, likewise" Kawaki replied looking down at the slightly shorter teen. He turned his head to Denki and asked "You know where I'm sitting?"
"Behind me you lank! And get used to the view caus from now on I'll be making leaps and bounds while you will be progressing slowly" Denki shouted, pointing his thumb behind him.
Kawaki walked to his seat and sat down. "You realise that even while I'm seated I can still look down on you, short-ass"
"Language!" Ida shouted but Kawaki paid no attention to this and turned around to see a spiky read haired teen.
"I'm Kirishima Ejiro, nice to meet you Kamanari-san" he said with a smile, showing his sharp teeth.
'How many people have sharp teeth?' Kawaki thought as he nodded. "Just call me Kawaki and call the dolt in front of me Denki"
Denki stopped mid conversation with the person next to him to shout. "Oi! Don't call me a dolt you stick"
Kawaki turned around and looked his brother straight in the eyes. "Stick? I have more muscles than you, you fucking short ass"
"LANGUAGE KAWAKI-KUN!" Ida shouted once more, yet again Kawaki ignored him.
"You wanna fight?!" Denki shouted back, the two brothers where too engrossed in their fight to take notice of the green haired boy that entered the room.
"If we fought here we would get suspended you idiot!" Kawaki shouted back as electricity began to form between their two eyes.
"Nah!" Denki exclaimed with a confident grin. "Only I would get suspended because I would knock your ass out in two seconds flat!"
"Two seconds flat? I think you're forgetting who you're talking to" Kawaki answered back as the two stood up in their chairs.
"Could you two shut up?" a tired voice asked at just the right time.
Both Denki and Kawaki turned their heads to look at a tired looking man.
'That's him!' Kawaki thought as he nodded before casually taking a seat.
"As I was saying you need your P.E. uniforms…"

Class 1A gathered around their teacher.
"Today we are doing a quirk apprehension test, it follows the similar style as your normal physical test you guys and girls did in middle school, the only difference is that you can use your quirk. Kaminari Kawaki you scored first on the entrance exam right?"
"Yes sensei" Kawaki responded with as little enthusiasm as possible.
"Come over here and use your quirk to throw the ball" he instructed throwing the ball up and catching it with his hand.
"Denki, can I charge up?" Kawaki asked his brother who nodded.
"Man you really have to learn how to make your own lightning" he said with a smug look on his face as Kawaki put his right hand on his brother's shoulder.
Lighting began to surround both brothers but it was quickly sucked into Kawaki's palm.
"Cheers" Kawaki thanked his brother before waking over to the throwing circle.
"What was your record in middle school" the teacher asked Kawaki who was in the middle of stretching.
"70 something" Kawaki responded as he got ready for a throw. "Do I give it everything I got sensei?"
"Yes, anything else would be irrational" the tired looking sensei replied as Kawaki grinned.
Blue lightning began to crackle around his arm. Kawaki took a deep breath and then exhaled before him seeming teleported into a finished throwing pose. A sonic boom followed before a loud beep came from the teacher's phone.
"750 meters, impressive" he droned "All aptitude tests give you an opportunity to use your quirk"
A pink skinned girl then spoke out in a joyous tone "Wow that looks like fun!"
"You think that being a Hero will be fun? You think that villain attacks and natural disasters are fun? I'm sorry to tell you but for the next three years you forfeit your right to have fun... U.A will run you through the wringer. That's 'Plus Ultra' for you. Now use your strength to overcome it all… if you come last in this aptitude test you will be expelled" The man states in a matter of fact tone.
"Y-you can't do that!" a ball headed kid exclaims in shock.
"Here at U.A. all teachers are given complete freedom to run their classes in whichever way they please, why do you think that we have the best track record out of all the hero schools in Japan? Students are trained by pro heroes to meet their expectations, and if you don't meet my expectations you will be expelled!" Aizawa lectures his class, making most of them nervous.
'As expected, the class is in disarray' Kawaki thought as he looked at his palm, lightning still crackling around it. 'I need to save this for later'
Looking around the crowd Kawaki found his target, one green haired boy. He walked over to him with his hands in his pockets.
"Oi broccoli" he said, looking at the boy whom he intended to help.
"Oh! Kaminari-kun, how can I help you?" He asked in a timid tone, one that would be replaced by a confident one later on in the year.
"Your quirk, it's like you have too much energy stored in your body… instead of doing what you did in the exam by releasing it all at once, try releasing a small amount of it in a singular part of your body. Like a tap for a rain collector, you don't need to use all the rain water to fill up your glass, only a little amount" Kawaki said before turning around. "Use this time to figure it out" he said before walking away to the next test.
Lined up next to Ida, Kawaki noticed that the next test was a 50 meter sprint. 'I forgot about this section' he thought as he yawned.
"Kawaki-kun, I suggest you take this seriously" Ida advised as the machine signalled for the racers to get ready.
"Trust me Ida, I am" Kawaki responded as he began to float in the air, the majority of the class looked at Kawaki with wide eyes as the machine called for the racers to start.
Kawaki flew forward, shifting into the most aerodynamic shape he could form with his hands in his pockets, almost keeping pace with Ida who scored 3.04 seconds.
"3.78 seconds" the machine called out as Kawaki floated upright, behind the finish line.
Next up was the green haired boy and another blonde haired boy.
They were called to race by the machine and the blonde boy literally exploded from the start line, Kawaki expected this so that's why his eyes where focused on Midoriya, in the middle of his run a spark of green electricity came into existence and rocketed the boy forward, yet he was unable to keep up with the speed and fell over the finish line.
"5.59 seconds" the machine called.
Kawaki smirked. His advice had worked somewhat well.
Next up was the long jump. 'Piece of cake' Kawaki thought as he lined up for the task.

Kawaki walked away from the training grounds, his advice to Midoriya had worked out well, yet Aizawa still made him go all out on the ball throw. 'That was an epic scene' Kawaki thought to himself, chuckling in agreement.
He hadn't bothered to look at the placements, the only thing he was interested in was learning who he had replaced in his class. 'It's a shame I replaced Koda, he would have been a cool guy to hang around'
He pushed the door the change-room open and found nobody there, which was what he expected as he was the first to leave.
Heading over to his locker Kawaki looked at his right palm once more, a small black diamond shaped mark remained, showing that he had a little power stored up. He smirked 'I'm getting better at holding in energy'
