Trying to Stay Positive

G1P0

Important events in Naruto and Sasuke's relationship tended to involve alcohol. Tonight was no exception.

Sasuke struggles to support Naruto as they make their way back home. Stupid idiot's such a lightweight! In the blond idiot's defense, he did have much to celebrate. The Seventh Hokage had managed to avoid conflict with the Village Hidden in the Clouds through his friendship with Killer B, the eight tail jinchuuriki. Sasuke was proud of his blond idiot. To be fair to Naruto, Sasuke doesn't really know who's supporting who as he too had a fair amount to drink. It doesn't help that the entire way home Naruto had been whispering all the naughty things he wants to do to his husband.

After Sasuke manages to kick off both their shoes, Naruto has one last thing he wants to whisper in Sasuke's ear. "Sasuke," Naruto slurs. "Can we do it with the Sexy-no-Jutsu?". The raven glares at him. Idiot. No. No way. Nope. Nuh uh. But Naruto's hands are a lot more persuasive than his stupid mouth. Okay maybe just this once then.

Naruto wakes up the next morning with the sun glaring through his eyelids. Damn it, why did he have to wake up? He had the most amazing dream where Sasuke did the Sexy-no-Jutsu just for him. He gulps thinking about Sasuke's delicate features, one hand cupping soft breasts while the other feeling along the curves of his accentuated hips. It was so realistic, he's hard just thinking about it. Maybe he can talk Sasuke into doing it later tonight. He takes a quick peep under the covers and decides that tonight might not come soon enough. He rolls over...

And there was Sasuke sleeping peacefully next to him...very much in Oiroke form. In this form his hair is longer, his features more delicate. Softer. Naruto's face goes bright red as he realizes that last night was not a dream. "What are you staring at, idiot?" Sasuke mumbles, pulling the blanket up over him. "Don't go proposing to me. You've already done that or did you forget that we're married now?"

Naruto jumps out of bed, causing the bed to bounce up and down much to Sasuke's consternation. He just wanted to sleep in after everything they did the night before. "Sasuke…"

"What?" Sasuke asks through gritted teeth. A few more minutes! Could the loud mouth spare him that much?

"You're - you're -"

"WHAT?!" The raven snaps up, the blankets falling off of him.

That certainly did the trick as it renders Naruto speechless, his eyes focused on something else. Sasuke looks down to see what the idiot is gawking at. And then it hits him... like many other things that will surely hit Naruto (such as a pillow, their nightstand and possibly the chidori) now that the other man has realized what's happened.

"I'M GOING TO KILL YOU, UZUMAKI NARUTO!"

Tsunade's first reaction is to laugh. Naruto wants to too but he can feel Sasuke's glare shoot kunai. "So you're telling me…" the Fifth Hokage starts. "That you two were 'sparring' and Sasuke just happened to get stuck in Oiroke form after he used the Sexy-no-Jutsu?"

"Yes," Sasuke says.

"No," Naruto says at the same time.

Tsunade looks like she's going to laugh again. "And I imagine Sasuke lost to Naruto's penis?"

"Yes," Naruto says.

"No," Sasuke says at the same time.

Tsunade laughs again. She does so for several minutes, her body wracked with pain by the time she's done. "Naruto," the Legendary Sanin's voice shifts back to her usual professional tone. "Get out."

As Tsunade examines Sasuke, she can kind of understand her adopted grandson's obsession with the man in front of her. He's kind of cute, the oiroke form only accentuates his black hair and snow white skin. There's a certain petulance in the proud man complying to her examination that only Naruto would find attractive. She always figured that Naruto was a masochist with the way he threw himself into fighting for the people he loves. This one most of all. Still, she loves Naruto like her own grandson and by extension she loves his proud husband as well.

Naruto's fidgets as he waits outside. He's so anxious he almost jumps when Tsunade opens the door. "You can come back in now," she says in the most neutral tone humanly possible.

The blond gulps as he enters the room. Never one to stay quiet, he starts blabbering the moment he's by Sasuke's side. "What's going on? Is everything alright? How is Sasuke?"

"I'm surprised you two don't know this already given everything I've heard about your...deep love for one another -"

"What?" Naruto squawks.

"When a man and woman... or well a man in woman's form love each other very much -"

"Huh?"

"They have a very special hug - "

"Cut to the chase, Tsunade," Sasuke interrupts.

"You're pregnant."

Naruto's eyes widen in shock. PREGNANT?! Naruto didn't even know where to start. How was this even possible? What does this even mean? Whatwouldheand Sasukeevendo? Sasuke'spregnant -

"This is unexpected but the obvious solution is to terminate," Sasuke says without hesitation, his voice laced with sterility Naruto hasn't seen in a long time.

"What are your thoughts on this, Naruto?" the medic nin inquires.

Naruto sighs as he comes back down to reality. "It's Sasuke's choice."

"Right then. I'll book you an appointment in a week's time."

Sasuke's never thought about being a parent before.

Primarily because as two men it wasn't a possibility beforehand. Sasuke had long accepted that; one of many things he came to accept when he came to terms with Naruto being the love of his life.

Sasuke had loved before. He loved his family. He had a family before. His father was the Head of the Konoha Police Force, a man he was always in awe of. His mother was always kind. Itachi was a loving older brother who would take time out of his busy schedule to play with him. He was happy then. Wait. That wasn't exactly true. His father was a traitor who planned a coup d'etat against his own Village. His mother, for all her good qualities, enabled her husband into concocting a plan that would have resulted in so many deaths. And Itachi, his beloved older brother. Aniki. He had killed his entire family in cold blood and left his younger brother to clean it off the floors.

Maybe that's why Sasuke never thought about having a family before. Because he had learned first hand at a very young age how easy it was to lose your family. He learned early on that he couldn't rely on others...because they could be ripped out of your life in an instant. People called him detached, cold and uncaring. It's easy to be these things when the alternative was to break into a million pieces. It wasn't until Naruto came into his life that he learned it was okay to love again. Naruto was his family now. When they got married, Sasuke had insisted that he take Naruto's last name because he was ready to put it all behind him. As an Uzumaki, he could forgo the Uchiha legacy as the last surviving member of his clan. Is that why he works at the Konoha Police Force? Did he really 'let his family go'?

Sasuke had long come to terms with what his brother did. Itachi had been ordered by the Leaf to put a stop to the Uchiha's planned coup d'etat. An order that the older Uchiha had carried out in the name of peace. He had wept bitter tears as he murdered his parents but he still did it nonetheless. The only thing was, he couldn't couldn't bear to harm his beloved younger brother. Sasuke knew all of this and was now at peace with the fact that he still loved his older brother dearly. That didn't take away from the pain that he endured in the years following the Uchiha massacre.

Maybe that's why Sasuke never wanted a family before. When he was younger, he would tell people that his dream - no, his reality, was to restore his clan and destroy a certain someone. He had gone to hell and back for the latter half, done terrible things in the name of revenge. He had abandoned all of his friends in the Leaf Village, becoming a rogue ninja and joining Orochimaru in the Sound Village in his quest for power. He had killed so many people he could barely keep count, a list which almost included Naruto. Well, he got his wish. He finally killed Itachi when he was fifteen but that didn't make the pain hurt any less. That didn't fill the gaping whole in his heart. Accomplishing the latter dream hadn't brought him the peace he so desperately craved so why should he ever pursue the former?

No, Sasuke was too broken. Too flawed to be a parent. Hell, he and Naruto had been drinking heavily when they conceived so he probably already fucked up. Who could accept a monster like him? Wait. That wasn't exactly true. Naruto had accepted him for who he was. Right from the very beginning the blond let it be known that he was here to stay. Even when others had told him that Sasuke was a lost cause, Naruto never stopped believing in him. Never stopped believing he could be redeemed.

When Sasuke sees Naruto, he sees the sun. It shines bright on any and everything and its light is reflected in the moon. For all their superficial differences, he and Naruto were cut from the same cloth. Both were impulsive, ruled entirely by their emotions. Sasuke was just better at hiding it. As he looks at Naruto now, really looks at the man he loves, he wonders if, just this once, he will actually stop and think.

A few days later, Sasuke feels warmth and wetness between his legs. He runs to the bathroom to see blood. 'Is this...what women refer to as a period?' he wonders. But then he remembers what state he's in. The bleeding goes on for a few days before it stops.

Sasuke miscarries. It is over and done with before he even has time to think.
