In year 2026, the US was back on track thanks to Democrats and Independants appealing for Joe Biden to be elected. As the 2020-2022 Covid crisis was rampaging across the world, allowing Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to be elected fair and square at the White House while the Democrat Party and the Independants to gain control of the US Congress.

In 2024, Joe Biden got re-elected as 46th US President, beating Donald Trump once again, despite the latter's appeals to vote Republican, since many disgruntled Republicans sided alongside the Democrats and Independants to ensure Biden's re-election. Moreover, Donald Trump got sued and tried for petty theft, tax fraud and intimidation among other crimes before being sentenced to life imprisonment.

Kate Grady, meanwhile had changed her mind, instead opting for the US Marine Corps instead of the US Army. Now Kate was part of the US Marine Rotational Force - Darwin or MRF-D stationed in Australia to detter any Chinese agression against the South Pacific nations. Biden also recentered the priorities to international cooperation, dettering Russian and Chinese adventurism and countering North Korea's threat. President Biden's administration also made a formidable job at putting America and it's economy back on track.

But as far as Kate knew, the United Nations were going to deploy a large peacekeeping force on an island nation called Dinotopia but needed someone to set the stage for the UN peacekeepers. The US Government insisted they would just carry the UN forces on the ground, but after Australian and New Zealand military forces sweep the island from any dangerous extremist threat against the UN troops. And Kate was a particular US Marine, since she was going there as an exchange personel with the Australian Defence Force.

At the base, Kate was preparing her equipment when the Australian exchange Corporal came in her sight. Knowing she had to give him her equipment for one year, the young US Marine walked to her superiors and fellow US Marines to bid them farewell in case she never came back.

"Goodbye, kid. And hope you'll be okay." Colonel Tim Murphy told her shaking her hand.

"Got it, Sir. I'll be careful." Kate reassured him as they let go.

"Good luck, Grady." Major Megan Jennings sincerely told Kate.

Knowing she would miss them, Kate replied, "Thanks, Ma'am. And good luck with the Oz. You'll also have to handle three Canadians, four Brits, three Frenchies, two Germans, two Poles, two Kiwis, two Koreans, three Japanese, two Chileans, two Argentinians, two Peruvians, three Italians, four US Army guys, three Finns, two Norwegians and three Dutch guys as exchange personel in the force. I'm the sixteenth exchange personel this year, so it shouldn't be that hard."

"Don't be so sure, Corporal." Wollanin warned Kate.

Kate nodded before trading her equipment with the Australian soldier's. Fortunately, they all cross-trained on each other's equipment during joint exercises like RIMPAC, Koolendong, Talisman Saber, Croix du Sud, Trident Juncture, Saber Strike and Southern Katipo, thus giving them the sufficient knowledge of allied weaponry for exchange programs. As she put the Australian soldier's plate carrier with her name on it, Kate saw the other US Marines and their exchange partners waving goodbye at her. Kate waved them goodbye before taking her new rifle, a Thales EF88 rifle with an Elcan Specter DR scope, and her pistol, a SIG-Sauer M18 like hers.

As she turned around, Kate walked to the buses that would take her alongside the 2nd Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment or 2RAR. Once she mad it to her destination, Kate stood in the line of Australian soldiers led by Colonel Jon Freeman. Kate then glanced back at her comrades and saw the Australian soldier putting her equipment on with ease. The soldier then got acquainted with the others as Kate boarded the bus to the airfield, where they would board a RAAF C-17 cargo plane.

"First things first. The gal you saw here is US Marine Corporal Kate Grady from the MRF-D. Second thing you gotta know is we're going like in '99. You were kids at the time, but I was your age, so don't bother to know what you're going through. It's gonna be like Timor-Leste from '99 to '02." Colonel Freeman told everyone before the bus rolled to the airfield.

The buses then started to drive to the airfield. During the trip, Kate thought back of the day when she saw her father and the other staffers rescuing the dinosaurs there before quitting, since the sanctuary island, called Dinotopia, didn't accept ethologists or handler for dinosaurs. Kate also remembered her father found a job at a civilian zoo as the chief handler before re-marying with Kate's stepmother, Milla. Kate like Milla enough to accept her in her family. Kate also knew she had to leave them behind to do her job as a US Marine, though she did miss them. But Kate also heard her father quit his former job after an accident with a missing finger. Owen and Milla then moved to Dinotopia, where they saw a booming economy thanks to tourists. However, the security climate had began to deteriorate since carnivores were becoming more agressive, thus triggering the need for UN forces to intervene while the Australian and New Zealand forces went first.

Once the buses reached it's destination, Kate and the Australian soldiers disembarked the buses with their full equipment before showing their Covid vaccination certificate and boarding the C-17 cargo planes, which were also being loaded with Hawkei PMVs and M1A2C Abrams tanks belonging to other units. Kate also saw RAAF C-130J cargo planes being loaded with howitzers and trucks while soldiers also boarded them. Kate then boarded the C-17, took her seat and strapped in, knowing the planes would take off once fully loaded. As if on clue, Kate felt the plane take off.

Once the C-17s and C-130Js were flying, Kate took the opportunity to take a nap, knowing the fly would take hours before touching the ground. The other soldiers in the regiment did the same, knowing how boring a flight could be. Everyone knew their deployment would take days and knew everything that had to go wrong would go wrong.

Meanwhile in Dinotopia, the first Australian and New Zealand troops on the ground were the commandos of 4RAR, 2nd Commando Regiment and NZSAS. These guys had indeed already established a security perimeter around the airport thanks to their armored vehicles, allowing 3RAR, Queen Alexandra's Mounted Rifles, 1st Battalion Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment or 1RNZIR and Australian 3rd Combat Engineer Regiments to hit the ground and repair the airstrip, which had badly damaged by mortar rounds anyways. Then, the C-17s and C-130Js arrived on the newly-repaired runway and landed there before rolling to disembarking areas where troops and vehicles were ferried to the staging area, joining the already-present New Zealand troops.

Kate disembarked her plane and walked with the rest of 2RAR to the assembly area, where they reviewed their equipment and linked up with the New Zealanders who would contribute to the Task Force Beersheba, the UN-approved combat task force tasked with protecting and setting the stage for the UN troops' arrival. Once with the other combat troops, Kate boarded the armored truck alongside Australian and New Zealand soldiers before the column drove towards their headquarters, which were located in an old factory. Once arriving at the base, Kate and the other combat troops dismounted their vehicles before settling in their quarters, knowing they all needed to take a nap before beginning their job.
