Hermione groaned, rubbing at her eyes. She opened them, startling somewhat at the two faces that stared back down at her. She tried to sit up.
"Easy there." Hermione didn't recognize the girl who had spoken. The girls' blonde hair was pulled back into a high ponytail, and pinned to her robe was a small silver shield.
"I'm a prefect." The girl said, "My name's Doreen." She helped pull Hermione to her feet and with Remus' help, deposited her onto the bench beside her.
"I think you may have had a panic attack. It seems like you fainted. Remus here came and got me. Are you doing okay now?"
Hermione swallowed, trying to find her voice. "Yes, I think I'm doing alright."
Doreen smiled at her. "Okay, if you're sure. I'm just a few compartments down, if you need me." Hermione nodded at her, glancing at Remus, who was sporting a worried frown.
Doreen paused at the door, "I'm muggleborn too. It can be incredibly overwhelming… going from that world to this one. It's okay to feel a bit panicked about it sometimes." She smiled again, "like I said, I'm just a few compartments down. Don't hesitate to come find me if you need."
"Thanks." Hermione said weakly, feeling thoroughly embarrassed. She turned to Remus as the door slid shut. "I am so sorry about that."
He blinked. "Don't worry about it."
"I don't normally faint." She added hastily. Feeling the need to excuse herself.
Hermione's heart was still beating hard. There must have been a mistake somehow? Maybe the Wizarding world existed in some sort of time pocket in the past and Professor McGonagall just forgot to mention it? She'd have to speak with her when they arrived at school.
She pushed down her rising panic. It wouldn't do any good to get worked up again. She just had to get to the school, then she could talk to her teacher and get some answers.
These thoughts soothed her somewhat.
"It's okay." Remus said. "Really."
Hermione sunk down in her seat and turned her focus to the passing scenery. Everything was going to be okay. She just needed to get to Hogwarts. Everything would be fine once she got to Hogwarts.
