Dear Reader,

I find myself in the awkward and embarrassing position of having to apologise to you all. It's been roughly 3 months since I uploaded the first chapter of this story, and despite receiving far more reviews, favs and follows than I ever could have imagined, I've been completely silent since then. It's a long story, so here's the TL;DR for people that don't care for the details: I'm going to be putting this story on the back burner for now and focusing on other projects. I can't say when I will be revisiting this story, however all I can say is that I will be trying my best to solve the problems I've had so far so that I can come back to it in the future. All I can do is apologise to anyone that may have been looking forward to updates.

Now for the details for those that care. When I came up with the idea for this story, it caught my imagination so much that before long I had plans for a very ambitious three part story that would have covered ground in both halves of the crossover that I have never seen anyone cover in the 10+ years I've been reading fanfictions. However, ambition requires competence, and as a complete novice the problems were far too great for me to overcome without dedicating all my time to solving them, which I was and am not in a position to do.

The main problem came from the DxD side. The part of the DxD universe that I wanted to draw from most turned out to be practically non-existent when it comes to official world-building, and that's because the details I needed in the context of the canon story weren't relevent and therefore weren't created by the author. The bits and pieces of official lore that do exist for what I need were few and far between, and therefore essentially it was up to me to invent an insane amount of lore that not only worked in the context of my story but worked in the context of the official DxD canon too.

Now, crossover fanfictions are already difficult when it comes to matching up lore/world-building between the two universes so that it makes sense, but when I had to invent an insane amount of competent lore on top of that, it simply got too much for me. This lore was important from chapter 2 onwards, and it proved to be a wall that I just couldn't get around. I must've drafted 10+ different versions of chapter 2 and I wasn't happy with any of them. If I'm being honest I wasn't that happy with chapter 1 either, but releasing two chapters I wasn't happy with in a row was just not something I could let happen. If the stories that I write represent me, then what does it say about me if I upload chapters that I myself don't like?

And so, for now, I'm going to focus on cutting my teeth on a less-ambitious writing project. I don't know what it'll be yet, however I can say that just because it may not be as ambitious a project, that doesn't mean I won't be putting my all into making it as good as possible. As I work on this new project however, I will also be working on slowly but surely coming up with the air-tight and competent lore I need for this story project to continue. I'm not giving up on it, I just wasn't ready to write a story of this scale. I have a friend that is huge into DxD and I'll be working with him to come up with something that truly reflects the ambition of this project.

So anyway, as I said, I apologise to anyone that may have been waiting for chapter 2. This is certainly not how I wanted to start off my 'career' as a fanfic author, but I'd be a complete fool to ruin something with such great potential due to my current lack of competence.

Yours Sincerely,

Lord Spectacular
