Hello!
So a couple of notes;
I don't own Teen Wolf, I don't own Harry Potter, I just like to write, and I love Stiles Stilinski as a character and the book version of Harry.
I changed the timeline, so the war at Hogwarts took place in 2012.
Harry and Hermione have moved to Beacon Hills just after the winter break of junior year. So right after Peter was killed and Derek has turned Alpha.
This story will follow the Teen Wolf plot at the start of season 2 with, of course, additional changes.
As the tags say, there will be a coupling of Derek/Stiles/Harry, but that will be in later chapters. The relationship between Harry and Stiles will develop into something more a lot faster.
If you only came for Sterek, I'm sorry, but you have to wait.
And as an addition:
Harry is 17, Hermione is 18, Stiles is 16 at the start of this story. Derek is 19, because I don't care what they did in the show, in the pilot he should have been 19, and I'm rolling with that. The fire has been 4 years ago in this story, so Derek would have been 15 / 16 when it happened.
Enjoy!
Stiles was buzzing with energy, not that that was anything new, but he was still buzzing. He had magic, holy fucking shit. Magic, capital M. Well, if Harry wasn't playing a prank on him, but he didn't think that the guy was doing that. He seemed sincere, and he wanted to help Stiles!
Scott was still a little skeptical of the new kids, but according to Scott, they smelled okay, which was a little creepy, but yeah, we are going with smelling okay!
It was almost lunch, and then they would meet up with Harry and Hermione again, who had different classes the past period. Stiles was shifting on his chair and watching the clock intently. He was ready to bolt out of the room as soon as the bell would ring.
Scott nudged him in the side to gain his attention. Stiles reluctantly turned to him.
''What?'' Stiles whispered so their teacher wouldn't hear.
''When were you going to tell me that you're gay?''
''WHAT!'' Stiles shrieked, and it was not a manly shriek. He couldn't even turn that in a manly shriek.
The teacher glared at him, and he hunched behind his book. He then glared at Scott. Scott looked a little bashful but also amused. The wolfy fucker.
''I'm not gay!'' Stiles hissed. Scott scoffed in amusement before his eyes turned serious.
''Could have fooled me, you were holding hands with Harry, I saw you do that!'' He then smiled reassuringly. ''You know I don't mind, right?'' Scott said with his pleading puppy eyes. Stiles swallowed harshly because Scott was partly right.
''I'm not gay. I'm more like bi? Or something. But kudos to you for being my best friend.'' Stiles said with a smirk. Scott beamed at him and clapped him on the shoulder.
''Sure dude, it seemed like he was into you too,'' Scott said while wiggling his eyebrows, making Stiles blush.
''You don't know that, and we just found out that he is a wizard, a freaking wizard, Scott. We first need to check that out.''
Scott turned serious and was nodding.
''Should we talk to Derek?'' Scott said with a grimace. Derek was definitely not Scott's favorite person, he also wasn't Stiles's favorite person, but Stiles could see his use, and maybe Derek also was the reason for his bisexual awakening. No one could deny how hot Derek was.
''Maybe after lunch? Do you have his number?'' Stiles proposed, also curious if the Alpha maybe knew something about wizards.
''No,'' Scott scoffed before realizing that it would be hard to find the Alpha if they didn't have his number.
''We should work on that,'' Stiles said with a smirk. The bell rang, and Stiles bolted out, quickly followed by Scott.
Harry and Hermione were already sitting at one of the tables, quietly talking to each other. Stiles didn't know what they did, but it felt like only invited people could walk near them or sit next to them because everyone made a wide berth around them.
Stiles walked straight at them and plopped into the seat next to Harry. He looked back and saw Scott being confused. Then Scott seemed to turn around.
''Scott!'' Stiles yelled after his best friend with a frown until he felt Harry's hand on his arm. Harry waved his hand and looked delighted at Stiles. Scott then turned around, even more confused, before hurrying to sit next to Hermione.
''What was that?'' Scott asked with wide eyes.
''That was a ward. It should have kept everyone out unless I want them to join. Stiles just walked straight through it. You, my friend, are more powerful than you think.'' Harry said with glee in his eyes. Stiles blushed from the compliment. It was a compliment, right?
''Uh, thanks? I did have a strange feeling before I reached you. It was like something in me told me that you only want invited people here.''
Harry beamed at him, and Stiles smiled shyly back at him.
''That's amazing Stiles, not even I would have felt the ward. That you did with no training is truly something. Harry, do we really need to stay until the end of the day? I really want to look further into this!''
''My my, Hermione Granger wanting to skip class,'' Harry said with a fake gasp and a hand on his chest. Hermione pouted, but Scott and Stiles both laughed.
Stiles then turned to Harry with a serious look. ''I have so many questions.''
Harry chuckled before responding.
''I can only imagine, nobody can hear us, so fire away. It is entirely possible that Hermione is going to answer before I get the chance, but she knows almost everything.'' Harry said with a smile. Hermione punched him on the arm, and he pouted, and no, Stiles didn't melt into a puddle. He was only watching with a slight interest. Okay, not a slight interest, maybe more like adoration, but nobody knew that not yet at least.
''Okay! So question one, don't you have like a staff or wand or something?'' Stiles asked. He pulled his lunch out so he could munch a little while listening to Harry and Hermoine. And he pulled out a notebook so he could take notes.
Harry raised an amused eyebrow before answering.
''Almost every wizard or witch needs a wand, but you can learn to control magic without one.''
''Harry is being modest. He is the only wizard alive that can do what he can with magic. I still need a wand for every spell.''
''That's not true. You confunded McLaggen with the Quidditch tryouts.'' Harry teased with a smile. He seemed awkward for a second when Hermione pointed out that he was the only wizard that could do what he could. Stiles filed that tidbit away for another time and quickly wrote Quidditch in his notebook.
Hermione groaned but didn't tell him otherwise.
''Okay, so I would probably need a wand. How the hell do you get a wand? And how could it be possible that I knew nothing about all this?'' He asked while flailing his hands.
''Probably, and don't worry, we will help you with that. And well, how did you found out about werewolves? Because I don't think you knew about that from birth. Did you?'' Harry countered. And touché, that was correct. So it wasn't a weird leap that he never learned about magic. He just thought that weird stuff happened to him, like that his best friend turned into a werewolf.
''No, I found out at the beginning of the school year because Scott was bitten by a feral Alpha. I even found out that he was a werewolf before he did.'' Stiles said with a smirk aimed at his best friend. Who was smiling a little nervous.
''Well, strange things were happening, but come on, who would believe in werewolves?'' Scott said while taking a bite of his lunch.
''It isn't the most logical thing to think. So how did you jump to that conclusion?'' Hermione asked with sincere curiosity.
''Uh, I have severe ADHD, and I play a lot of videogames, read a lot, and watch a bunch of movies. My brain went just from being bitten on the full moon, hearing a wolf howl, being faster than everyone else, and healing at an exceptional rate to werewolf. Then I went on a google binge and knew for sure that Scott was a werewolf.'' Stiles rambled. Hermione was beaming at him, and Harry was biting his lip as if he was holding back a smile. It made Stiles fidget a little.
Scott suddenly turned his head towards the open door and tilted his head as if he was listening to something.
''He looks a little like a dog right now. Remus never did that, did he, Harry?'' Hermione asked softly, making Stiles bark out a laugh.
''He is just like a puppy!'' He said in a crooning voice, making Scott glare at him.
''And wait, did you just said Remus? And that he never did that? So you know a werewolf whose name is Remus? As in Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome who were raised by Lupa, the wolf?'' Stiles quickly asked. Harry and Hermione both blinked at him for a moment. Before Harry looked at Hermione pleadingly, she let out a sigh before responding.
''Yes, that is a muggle tale. I'm not surprised that in your 'Google search' you found that. And we knew a werewolf with the name Remus.''
A lot went through Stiles's mind because, first, what is a muggle? Second, why did she use air quotes around Google search? It helped a lot! And it wasn't lost on him that she said knew instead of know.
''I'm sorry. I didn't want to be insensitive.'' Stiles said with a contrite look.
Harry patted his hand, and it filled Stiles with warmth.
''You're not. You couldn't have known. But back to Scott, what did you hear? Because the werewolves we knew couldn't hear at long distance. They were like another species in comparison to you.''
''Like an American flavor or something?'' Stiles said, his mind spinning with even more questions. He really hoped he wasn't irritating Harry or Hermione. He needed answers!
''Something like that, I will explain later when I have books to back my story up,'' Harry said with a smirk before turning back to Scott.
''Derek is in the school. He wants to talk.'' Scott said a little sullenly.
''Who is Derek?'' Hermione asked.
''He is the Alpha. Just since a couple of weeks, so he is watching out for Scott's wolfy butt.'' Stiles explained.
''We should go with you to meet him. He should probably want to know who is in his territory. We don't want any fights.'' Hermione rushed out.
''Are you sure? Derek is a little-'' Stiles made a vague gesture with his hands that Hermione and Harry couldn't possibly understand, but they both were smirking at him.
''Oh, don't worry about us, Stiles.'' Harry practically purred, making Stiles shiver and blush.
''We can handle an Alpha.''
Derek frowned to himself. What did that guy mean with handle an Alpha? He looked up when the door opened to the locker room where he was waiting for Scott, Stiles, and the two people that were with them.
They had to know about the supernatural. The girl sounded like she knew about the proper etiquette, even if Derek himself was still struggling with everything. He was never meant to be an Alpha. But what could he do? He couldn't let Scott be an Alpha. He was just a kid, plus he would have needed to kill Peter. Derek couldn't do that to him even if he was just three years younger.
Scott and Stiles piled into the locker room, quickly followed by a girl with bushy brown hair and a friendly face. Then the guy stepped into the room.
Derek needed to contain and ground himself for a moment. The guy smelled like raw power with a hint of death. It made Derek shiver, but what was weird was that it wasn't an unpleasant smell. He took a large breathe to calm himself. He was the Alpha, for crying out loud.
''Alpha Hale? My name is Harry Potter. This is my best friend, Hermione Granger. We just moved here this weekend and hoped to stay in this territory.'' The guy said with intense green eyes. Derek was taken aback for a moment. This was the kind of thing that happened to his mother when she was still Alpha, and other creatures came through.
''Welcome, you can stay, as long as you don't pose a threat to the humans. And I would like to know what you two are.''
Harry smirked at him, and Derek was willing himself not to blush. The guy was gorgeous. He looked lithe, just like Stiles, but he didn't have Stiles beauty moles. He did have beautiful green eyes, who almost seemed to dance with intensity. Stiles's eyes were like a molten caramel or sometimes when the light hit them just right, like whiskey. And why was he comparing Harry to Stiles? He wasn't attracted to either. He wasn't gay.
He scraped his throat to clear his thoughts for a moment before glancing at Stiles, who was not looking at him for once. The guy was almost always looking at him with an intense look and smelling a little of arousal, but now his eyes were focused on Harry. Derek felt a little ping of jealousy shoot through him before he squashed it violently. He didn't deserve to be happy with someone, not after what happened with his family. And again, he wasn't gay. Why did he need to remember himself of that?
''We aren't a threat. We just wanted a calm life and away from Britain. Are Scott and Stiles in your pack? Because it wasn't clear, and from what little they told me and how new it all is to them, I'm not sure they even know. And as for what we are, Hermione is a witch, and I'm a wizard.'' Harry said with authority, making Derek almost smile.
''Humans can't be in a werewolf pack. And I-I haven't had the chance yet to explain it to Scott or to invite him.'' He would like to have Stiles in his pack. Scott was a stubborn idiot, but he could understand why he was being that stupid. If someone told Derek when he was sixteen that he couldn't be with his girlfriend, he would have been a stubborn idiot too. Plus, the guy never wanted the bite. Stiles was smart, and if he had wanted the bite, Derek would have already bitten him.
Hermione was frowning at him, and he didn't know why, but he didn't like it one bit that she was frowning at him.
''Why can't you have humans in your pack? When my old teacher explained it to me, he told me about pack bonds, and humans don't feel it, but the Alpha does. So they could still be part of a pack. And Stiles isn't human. So-''
''What?'' Derek said sharply before glaring at the guy in question.
''What what?'' Stiles replied with an innocent look. Trying to look everywhere but Derek.
''What did she mean with that you aren't human? Were you bitten?'' Derek said, and a hint of worry snuck into his voice. He tried to stop it because he was the Alpha dammit! He will not sound weak.
''No, Sourwolf, I wasn't bitten, but kudos to you, you almost sounded worried,'' Stiles said sarcastically. Making Derek frown, the kid was infuriating.
''According to Harry and Hermione, I'm a wizard too. I didn't know, but they are going to show me.'' Stiles explained with barely contained glee. Derek bit his lip to suppress a smile and hold his usual scowl.
''Are you sure?'' Derek said while turning to Harry.
''He can be a handful,'' Derek added when Harry looked at him questionably. But this made him snort. Stiles let out an indignant noise that Derek did not think was cute. No, not at all.
''Yeah, I'm sure. I taught a lot of kids defensive magic a couple of years ago. And Stiles is a natural for as far as I've seen.''
Stiles blushed and seemed to be buzzing with questions, but Derek really didn't have time for any of that. He turned to Scott, who was looking a little lost. He really did look like a puppy.
Derek decided right then and there that he would do his best to help the guy. It would be a plus if the wizards and witch also would join the pack, but that would be for later concern.
''I'm sorry for what I've done, and said Scott, and I know that you don't trust me, but I would like to have you in my pack. I would like to help you and earn your trust.''
He saw that Stiles was beaming at him, and he suppressed another blush. What was with him today?
Scott seemed to think about it for a moment before he gave Derek a lopsided grin.
''If you don't try to stop me from seeing Allison again, I want to try. It was my fault that you were a suspect for murder two times. So I do understand that you wouldn't trust me.''
Derek let out a sigh, especially when he saw Stiles facepalming and Harry and Hermoine's eyes go wide.
He quickly turned around to defend himself, but Stiles interrupted him.
''He wasn't the murderer. It was the feral Alpha, who was Derek's uncle, but Derek, well Derek did kill him, but that guy was truly insane! He deserved it. Please don't run away?'' Stiles rushed out, making Derek hide his face in his hands. Oh my god. That kid was going to kill him.
''Don't worry. No one's conscience is clean.'' Harry said with a glance at Hermione. Derek was beyond curious as to what Harry meant with that. But he wouldn't pry. The same couldn't be said from Stiles, who looked about to explode with questions.
Derek dropped his hand on Stiles's shoulder and squeezed, hoping that Stiles would understand and not pry. Stiles looked up at him in bewilderment before deflating.
Derek then turned back to Scott.
''I still think that Allison is dangerous. A hunter and a werewolf? That is dangerous, Scott. But she did help with Peter. So I won't stop you from seeing her.''
''A hunter?'' He heard Harry ask Stiles.
''Yeah, a werewolf hunting family. But Allison isn't like that.'' Stiles quickly responded while Derek was still watching Scott.
''I think I have a lot of questions for you too.'' Hermione mused with almost the same energy as Stiles was emitting.
''Let's do a kind of try-out for being in your pack. No more lying and I would appreciate it if you could help me with training my abilities. I tried to find Lydia for the past couple of days, but I kept going back to the same spot.'' Scott proposed before trusting his hand at Derek.
Derek smiled, and he could hear Stiles's heartbeat pick up. He tried to ignore it and not feeling too smug, but it was difficult.
''Now, I did come here to discuss something entirely else. I wanted to ask you to keep an eye on Jackson. He asked for the bite, and I don't know if it is going to take. He was leaking black blood first period. I told him to go home. But I don't know if he listened.''
''WHAT you bit, Jackson? Jackass Jackson? WHY! Derek!''
''NO! Why did you that!''
Stiles and Scott both exploded, making him blink and take a deep calming breath before explaining himself. He seriously needed to calm down for a moment. Anger had been his anchor for too long. But he needed to change.
''He blackmailed me. He said he would expose werewolves, that he would expose Scott and me. I couldn't let that happen, and he asked for the bite in return. I don't want to see the guy dead. So that's why I wanted to ask you to keep an eye on him.''
Harry and Hermione were calmly taking it all in and not interfering. Scott and Stiles both deflated. Probably expecting a fight with Derek, and when Derek stayed calm and explained it properly, they understood. He really needed to work on his communication skills because this was much better than all the growling and shouting matches he has had with them.
''Yeah, we will keep an eye on him.'' Stiles sullenly agreed.
''Thank you,'' Derek responded, making Stiles's eyes go wide.
''Are you planning on biting more humans?'' Hermione asked, not an accusation, but curiosity.
''I am if they want it and need it. An Alpha needs at least three betas to ground him so he won't go feral. If Scott accepts me as an Alpha and Jackson's bite took, I would still bite one other. But only if they want it for themselves. I have made suggestions to three others.''
Hermione nodded. Scott frowned and seemed to want to ask something, but Hermione talked over him.
''That's good. I do have a couple of books about pack dynamics. Would you like to borrow them?''
Derek was taken aback by the generous offer, and he didn't know how to respond for a couple of moments. He felt his ego a little bruised, he should be able to take care of his pack, but he also knew that he needed help. He wanted to do better. He wanted to be a good Alpha.
''I would like that. I know that my family had a vault with that kind of stuff, but I don't know where it is.''
''How come? We know you're uncle died. But what of the rest of your family?'' Harry asked with a frown.
Derek closed off. The grief and pain he always felt when thinking back to his family were just too much to bear.
He felt a hand touch his arm that he had crossed over his chest. Stiles was looking at him with a question in his eyes.
''Do you mind if I tell them?'' He asked softly. So soft that even Derek needed to listen carefully. He shook his head and gave Stiles permission to explain.
''Derek's family were killed by hunters. The hunter family Allison is part of. So that's why he has a good reason to be cautious about her. Derek, his uncle, and his sister were the only survivors of the fire. The feral Alpha killed his sister, and well, his uncle was the feral Alpha.''
Harry emitted a smell of grief and understanding. Hermione looked like she might start to cry, and she grabbed Harry's hand. Derek saw the hurt pass through them both. How could they possibly understand Derek's pain? Then Harry started to talk.
''My parents were killed by a Dark wizard when I was just a baby. I didn't have any other family. Well, not on the wizarding side.'' Harry said with his eyes locked on Derek's. Derek swallowed heavily. This guy was just a few years younger than him and had felt pain like him, and Harry seemed okay. Maybe it was time for Derek to heal too.
The ringing of the bell took all of them by surprise, and they laughed for a moment from the jumpy reactions everybody gave.
Before they went back to their classes, Derek gave all of them his phone number, so they could at least reach him if something was happening. He then promised that he would go to the Sherrif's station to volunteer, searching for Lydia.
Stiles beamed at him and threw himself at Derek, making Derek freeze. The hug only lasted for two seconds before Stiles bolted out of the room with a beet-red face.
It made Derek smile until he was at the Sherrif's station.
Three o'clock found him back into the classroom he entered that morning with Stiles. And a lot had already happened in just a couple of hours. He talked with Hermione about what they could teach Stiles and how they could get him a wand. He had met the Alpha, who was extremely hot. Harry was very proud of himself that he didn't turn into a babbling baboon.
He didn't know why, but he felt better and more at ease with guys than he had ever done with girls. Well, except for Hermione, but Hermione was his best friend.
Stiles was already in the classroom, as was the asshole of a teacher. Harry barely suppressed a scowl aimed at the man and took a seat next to Stiles.
He had already thought about it, and he really wanted to talk to Stiles more, so he was going to confund Mister Harris and make it look like they were silently obeying him while they were truly talking.
He sat down and smirked at Stiles before focusing his magic on the teacher. He didn't even need to wave his hand. The magic, his magic, immediately did as asked.
He already had learned that he could confund muggles without it being brought to attention by the Ministry, probably because he wasn't using a wand.
''What did you do?'' Stiles asked with a smirk.
''Watch this.'' Harry simply responded. He then stood and whistled on his fingers. Harris didn't respond and just kept reading and grading papers.
''Wow, that's awesome!'' Stiles exclaimed before turning around to Harry.
''So, do you have any more questions?'' Harry asked, amused, already knowing the answer.
''Dude, so many. But I don't want to bother you, so if it's getting too much, just tell me, and I will shut up. Well, I will try to shut up because I'm told more often than not that I can ramble. So prepare yourself for rambling.''
Harry chuckled, already feeling like he had made a friend.
''Ask away.''
''What is a muggle? I think it's a name to call humans, but I'm not sure. And what is Quidditch?''
Harry beamed at Stiles. That was a question he gladly answered.
''Muggles is what we call humans indeed, and Quidditch is the most amazing sport ever. You play it on brooms!'' Harry exclaimed.
Stiles gave him a quizzical look.
''Brooms?''
''Flying brooms,'' Harry said with a smirk, Stiles gaped at him, and Harry started to explain how Quidditch worked and that he loved it so high in the air and flying.
''I would love to see you fly, I don't know yet if I'm going to like it, but I would love to see it!''
''I've warded our new place, and it's isolated from everything else, so I can show you later. You were still coming by for training, right?''
''Yes! I wouldn't miss it for the world. I want to learn everything about magic.''
''You remind me of Hermione in our first year. She was so eager to learn everything.'' Harry chuckled.
''So how come you moved here? And why attend a muggle school?'' Stiles asked, and Harry should have seen this question coming, but he was still surprised and a little reluctant to tell Stiles.
''There-there was a war. Hermione and I just wanted a fresh start.'' Harry said, struggling to suppress the memories that tried to come back to him. Luckily he had trained with Hermione to master Occlumency. That really helped to sort his thoughts.
Stiles was reaching out as if he wanted to comfort Harry but didn't know if it would be accepted. Harry smiled at him because what else could he do? Those cupid bow lips and whiskey-colored eyes had him already captured. He was just so immensely glad that he wasn't reacting to this crush as he did with Cho or with Ginny in the beginning when he started to see her as a girl.
Hermione knew that Harry also sometimes fancied guys, but he had never done anything about it.
Stiles took his hand and squeezed.
''A war? That must have been awful.'' He said sincerely.
''It was. But now we are here, and I'm glad for that.''
''Me too. I don't know if I would have ever found out otherwise that I can do magic.'' Stiles mused before hastily adding, ''And you guys seem great!'' Harry laughed in response.
''Thank you, you guys seem okay too.''
''I'll have you know that we are awesome!'' Stiles said indignantly. ''Well, Derek needs some work, but even he was awesome today!''
They talked and laughed some more until it was four. They got up to leave, and Harry canceled the spell until Harris spoke to them.
''Where do you think you're going?''
''It's four? The end of the detention?'' Stiles bristled. Clearly agitated with the teacher. Something Harry could relate to.
''My detentions are until half-past,'' Harris said with a smirk. Stiles gaped at him, and Harry frowned.
''You can't do that!''
''Oh, but I can. You see, Stiles, since your father was so judicious in his dealings with me, I've decided to make you my personal project for the rest of the semester. Harry, you can go.'' Harris said while he pointed at Stiles to sit down again.
Yeah, Harry wasn't going to let that go. He winked at Stiles before waving his hand. Mister Harris went rigid, and his eyes glazed over for a moment.
''Get out, Mister Stilinski. You have been calm enough today for me to let you go. Don't get smart with me again, and you will not get detention again.'' Harris said before he also packed his stuff and walked out of the classroom.
''Dude. You are seriously awesome. Marry me.'' Stiles blurted out before turning into a babbling mess and got a blush that covered his whole face.
''Maybe you should take me out first,'' Harry casually responded before walking out of the classroom, feeling mischievous and giddy that he made Stiles nervous.
''Are you serious? Harry? Harry! Wait! Am I attractive to gay guys?!''
Hermione was watching Harry intently when they were just done with dinner and when Stiles had gone home. He was smiling to himself and humming a little. It was clear that Stiles had made an impact on Harry that she hadn't seen yet. It made her extremely happy for her best friend.
''Soooo,'' She started casually.
''Soo?'' Harry responded, but he had stopped and turned around to look at her.
''Well, tell me!'' She said while throwing her hands in the air.
''What do I need to tell you?'' Harry said way too casually for it to be honest.
''Maybe what is going on between you and Stiles? Because it seems to me that someone has a crush,'' Hermione responded with a smirk.
Harry scoffed and put the book down he was reading.
''I don't know if it's a crush, but I do like him. I do think it's weird that he didn't know that he was a wizard. He is full of potential.'' Harry murmured.
''That is something I also don't understand. Maybe we should ask him if he wants to talk to his father about it. Maybe he knows something and just didn't tell. It could be possible that he thought that his son had never developed magic. Why would you tell him then?''
Harry shrugged, but it was clear that he agreed with her.
''Are you going to do the wards? Draco should be calling soon.''
''Yeah, yeah, you just want to talk to him alone,'' Harry said with a smirk.
She may or may not have made an indignant sound at that. She didn't understand, but after Draco had accepted the job, he proved himself useful and grown-up. He even talked to her about other things, and it made Hermione glad that they had moved past the hurtful stuff they throw at each other at school. Draco really seemed to have learned his lesson.
The floo pinged with an incoming call, and Harry hurried out of the study. He was still getting used to the new Draco and definitely not used to call him Draco instead of Malfoy. Draco seemed to have the same problem, so she was secretly glad that Harry went outside to do the wards. It wasn't that they didn't feel safe, but it was just insurance. And after the year they had, they deserved to feel safe to the extreme in their own home.
She opened the floo and saw Draco's head in the fire. She really couldn't get used to this kind of communication. Muggles at least had telephones, something a lot better than communication through a fireplace.
''Hello, Draco. How are you?''
''Hi Hermoine, I'm fine, thank you for asking. Is Pott-Harry out?''
''Yes, he is checking the wards. How was the Black property in Ireland?''
''Dreadful. I don't think you can save that one. How was your first day at muggle school?''
''Interesting, and it's just a High School. They don't actually call it muggle school.''
''Interesting? What a weird choice of words.'' Draco said with a smirk. Hermoine laughed in response.
''My Draco, did you call to give a report, or did you call to gossip?''
It is that you can't see color through the fire, but otherwise, she thought that Draco was blushing. He was looking a little bashfully.
''I didn't want to pry. My apologies if I overstepped any boundaries.''
''You didn't overstep anything. I'm glad that you felt comfortable enough to ask.'' She replies quickly, wanting to calm him.
''Good to hear. I didn't want to pry, honestly. I was just in-''
The door banged open, and Hermione was up with her want in her hand before she could fully register it. The reflexes left by the war weren't letting them go easily.
''Mione! Call Derek!'' Harry said when he walked in with a girl in his arms. The girl was disheveled and shaking. Harry probably had conjured a blanket because it seemed like the girl was naked.
Her eyes were glazed over like she wasn't here entirely. Hermione turned around to the floo. Draco looked a little panicked but nodded in understanding and closed the call.
Hermione accioed her cell before calling the number she had gained that afternoon.
''Hello?'' Came a quizzical and grumpy reply through the phone.
''Derek! Are you still searching for that missing girl with the Sherrif?''
''Hermione? Uh, yes, why?''
''I think she is at our house. Harry just brought her in.''
''Where are you? Is the place warded?''
Hermione was surprised that Derek knew anything about magic but was glad.
''We live in the Potter house at the east entrance of the Preserve. It is warded, but you will able to get in with the Sheriff.''
''We're on our way. We will be there in twenty minutes.'' Derek responded before ending the call. Hermione quickly went to Harry, who had laid the girl down on the couch of the living room.
Harry was checking if she was okay with his wand because he really didn't know how to do that without one.
''She is exhausted, but she is okay.''
''How did she find us? Was she outside the wards?'' Hermione asked.
''Yeah, she tried to get in, but, Mione. She feels-she feels a little like death, but not in the way that she is on the verge of it. She feels like the resurrection stone. It doesn't make any sense.'' Harry said with exasperation.
''Did you feel if she is human?''
''Yes, and no, she isn't, but I don't know what she is. I've never felt anything like it.'' Harry said, irritated.
''Calm down, Harry. We will find out. We always do.'' Hermione said while putting her hand on his shoulder.
''Maybe you should call Stiles? Tell him that she has been found?'' Hermione proposed softly after a couple of minutes. Harry looked up at her and narrowed his eyes.
''I see what you are doing.''
''Me? I'm not doing anything.'' Hermione said with a look of pure innocence.
''You witch,'' Harry said with a smile before grabbing his phone and calling Stiles.
Hermione kneeled next to the couch and touched Lydia's hand. It was cold, and she quickly put a warming charm over her.
''Hey, Stiles, yes, everything is fine. I just wanted to let you know that Lydia has been found.''
Harry pulled the phone away from his ear and scrunched up his nose. Hermione couldn't really blame him because even she could hear the loud questions through the phone.
''She walked up to the house. She is fine. I already checked her with magic. We called Derek, and he is bringing the Sheriff.''
It was silent for a couple of moments before Harry started talking again.
''Your dad? Seriously? Well, then I'm going to meet him in a couple of minutes. I will tell him you said hi.'' Harry said with a smirk and sparkling eyes. Hermione giggled. It was really nice to see Harry this carefree.
''I don't know if it's smart to come here, right now. Your dad is going to be here within a couple of minutes, and then he will probably take Lydia with an ambulance to the hospital for checkups. There isn't much you can do now.''
Harry was listening to Stiles while Hermione saw that Lydia's eyes started to blink. It seemed like she was waking up from the trance she had been in.
''I will call you when they're gone, to give you an update, is that alright?'' Harry said. It was silent for just a couple of seconds before Harry spoke again.
''I will talk to you later, Stiles.''
''He is a little worrywart, isn't he?'' Hermione said with a smile when Harry had ended the call.
''He is. He is very loyal and sweet.'' Harry said with a small smile on his face.
''Sweet huh,''
''Oh, bugger off.''
Hermione laughed softly before looking back at the girl. She was starting to blink and seemed disorientated.
''Harry, could you get a glass of water?''
He frowned until he saw that the girl was waking up. Yeah, it would be better if she would wake up with just a girl. Harry walked out of the living room and busied himself in the kitchen.
''Hey, how are you feeling?'' Hermione softly asked Lydia.
''Where am I?'' Lydia started to look around warily, and Hermione could see that she was blinking back tears.
''We just found you. You are at our home in the Preserve. My name is Hermione. The Sheriff is on his way with an ambulance. You're going to be okay. Do you want any water?''
''I would like some clothes.'' She said when she felt that she was only wearing a blanket.
''I can go and get you a sweater and leggings. Would you want that?''
Hermione kept her voice soft and reassuring, and it seemed to help to ground the girl. Who clearly had been through something dramatic. She didn't know what happened. She only had heard that Lydia had been missing. Lydia nodded at the question. Hermione was debating with herself for a moment, she really didn't want to leave Lydia alone, but Harry walked in and had heard the request. He already had a glass of water, a sweater, and legging from Hermione with him.
''You, my friend, are a savior. Now go outside and wait for the Sheriff. They should be here shortly.'' Hermione said with a smile.
She gave Lydia first some water before she gave her the clothes. Lydia drank greedily, and Hermione promised that when Lydia was dressed that she would get another one. But she didn't want Lydia to hurt herself.
Lydia seemed a little miffed by the declaration but also thankful. Hermione turned around so she could put on the clothes with modesty, and it seemed that Lydia was already feeling a little like herself when she was wearing clothes.
''Thank you, my name is Lydia. I really don't know what happened. The last thing I remember was that I was going to shower in the hospital.'' She said with a shudder after Hermione had brought her another glass of water.
''I don't know for how long you have been missing. We just moved here, but we talked to Scott and Stiles today at school, and they told us that they had been searching for you.''
''Stiles? What did he tell you? Because that guy can be infuriating.'' Lydia said with a sneer, but Hermione could see that there wasn't any heat behind it.
''He only told us that he had been looking for you. He was quite taken with my best friend. So I think his mind was elsewhere.'' Hermione said with a smirk. Lydia seemed perplexed for a moment before schooling her features and scraping her throat.
''Well, thank god.'' She quickly responded, but she folded her arms around her middle, and Hermione understood that in reality, she wasn't really happy with the prospect of losing Stiles's interest. It was quite funny to see.
''He did tell Harry that I would be competition for you for Valedictorian. So we shall see, won't we?''
Lydia looked up sharply and saw the amusement in Hermione's face before she settled back on the couch.
''I think I'm going to like you.'' She said with a small smile.
''I hope so because I have the feeling that we will see more of each other, and not only at school.''
I hope you like it!
