Chapter 2: Battle of the Sexes
We last left off at the Rowdyruff Boys preparing to fight the Powerpuff Girls.
"I told you, I'm no villain no more. But addressing me as one? Them's fightin' words." Brick then let off a whistle. *Show the two brothers still flying away from the other girls. They immediately change course and fly back to Brick* "And remember. If you wanna fight one, you'll have to get through the full group!" Brick said as his brothers took their positions.
"What did I do to deserve this..?" Blossom asked herself. Her sisters came flying to her side not too long after the boys did though.
"Three against one isn't a fair matchup!" Buttercup started.
"So why don't we change that!?" Bubbles continued; staring her opponents down.
"Hey! I like the sound of that! Let's do that instead! Ready boys?" Brick agreed and asked.
"Heck yeah!" Boomer shouted (huh I just realized they're all wearing waist-length-darker-than-their-own color jackets!).
"I've been waiting a long time for this..." Butch said to himself.
"It's been almost forever; but let's do this!" And both the girls and boys charged at each other; ready to battle. An explosion occurred when the two groups' individuals made contact. Then everything was just like it was back in 1990-something; each girls and boy taking on their respective counterpart.
*Shift to Blossom and Brick fighting*
The crimson and pink supers flew at each other; when they landed a punch, they'd fly back a few feet from the recoil. After about doing that for a minute or so, they flew in and fired off multiple punches head on. All they managed to do was counter each other; they were only hitting each others 'fists'. They each flew back; and fired lasers. Normally there would be no clear winner; Blossom of course had her trap card (the X-hancing ring) but she also felt using it would be dishonorable. So she continued; not even taking a second gander. "It's only a matter of time before he pulls off something that'll make me want to use it..." She says to herself.
*Shift to Bubbles and Boomer roughhousing*
The two blues of each group were using an assortment of powers. Bubbles using her's mostly for defense; while Boomer went for the offensive route. Feeling a little scared this may not end well, Bubbles flew down to earth and started using the electric boogaloo forcefield. This created an electric impenetrable shield that Boomer's attacks couldn't penetrate; this upset him, so he started hurling energy orbs at the forcefield out of blind anger. "This'll most likely hold him off. But how long till I have to use this ring?" Was all she could think.
*Shift to Buttercup and Butch brawling*
The two greens of each group were going at it like no tomorrow. Even by using the increased strength of her protective metal arm plating wasn't helping. Buttercup knew she couldn't survive Butch's onslaught forever; she struck back, and hit hard. Though Butch returned it with an uppercut. She was sent flying, but she recovered quickly; after all, being the toughest fighter meant she has to be able to handle the strongest of hits. She flew back down, and hit Butch on the head with both her 'fists' and he fell straight down to earth, leaving a crater. "They've really improved too huh? Well so have I! I show Butch who's boss around here!" She was more than willing to fight.
*Back to the pink/red*
"Okay. Clearly we're still evenly matched like long ago! So why don't we just stop fighting, and back off to do a little team battle!?" Blossom suggested while she smacked shots off her arm.
Brick stopped firing to answer: "Finally! An idea that isn't total bonkers!"
The two leaders called over their allies; and across her face came a smirk and a look of determination. "Shall we?" Blossom asked her sisters; holding up her left arm.
"Let's shall." Buttercup replied.
The Powerpuff Girls tapped the circles on their rings; and to prevent to fusion process they stayed farther apart. The boys apparently missed this as they were in a group huddle discussing something which I cannot hear. "Alright. We've prepared. But are you ready!?" Brick yelled over.
"Of course we are. Why wouldn't we be?" Blossom replied.
"That's what I like to hear. Alright boys; let's show these girls who's boss!" Brick's brothers shifted positions to prepare firing a soundwave (A/N: The one from their return in season 5). They fired it off, but instead of blowing them back, the girls were completely unmoved. "Wait! WHAT!?" He was angered by this.
"You've wasted your turn. Now it's ours." The girls flew faster than their average speed towards the boys; nearly breaking the sound barrier. It wasn't until one of their attacks connected that all three boys shot down towards the earth below. (A/N: For an explanation on what the hell just happened; I'll explain. Buttercup punched Butch (who was in the center of the group) and the X-hancing ring created two other fists that punched down the other two Rowdyruffs).
"That's some insane strength!" Butch noticed.
"Since when could they do that!?" Boomer is asking all the right questions. Not one of the boys have seen the power of the X-hancing ring.
Brick was just recovering until Blossom dove towards him and held him up with her 'hand'. "Hey, hey, hey... why don't we just stop now? Clearly you've gotten stronger than us... please?" He was genuinely terrified.
"Ironic. You're the one who started this fight; now you want to be the one to end it peacefully? It's because you're scared of our strength; isn't it?" Blossom asked.
"No! I'm not afraid of that; or you!" He tried to counter her statement with that.
"Then what are you afraid of? You can tell me." She reassured him.
Brick was busy thinking of something to say to get out of this conversation. He then peered over to his right, where he saw what made Blossom so threateningly strong in the first place. "What the heck is that on your arm? A friendship bracelet?"
Her eyes shrunk as she noticed he was referring to the ring. "Uh... no. Why do you ask?"
"Well for one, it's emanating energy. Secondly, you were never this strong. Thirdly, and this is off-topic but, I like the scarf." Brick had stated.
Blossom answered to each. "One, I know. Two, I know. Three, thanks, I have no idea how it got there."
"So you just openly admitted you were cheating this whole time?" Brick asked.
"WHAT!?" The other two boys yelled. A look of nervousness struck the girls' faces.
"Well this has been a waste. Still, I'm impressed; you fought ten times better than you did four years prior." Brick stated.
"Yeah. But we'll be on our way now!" Boomer added.
"Don't forget. When we return, we'll be continuing from this very point." Butch reminded the three heroes.
"We know." All three girls said. Ending it on that note the Rowdyruff Boys flew off... somewhere.
"Well... that was definitely a complete change in personality." Buttercup simply said.
"Yeah... since when did they hate cheating?" Bubbles asked.
"Because... Bubbles, they weren't lying when they said they were no longer against us. If two people are fighting for the heck of it, they really only seek honor in battle. What we did... was very dishonorable." The rather distraught leader stated. "Is it possible to fix that mistake? No. The damage has already been done." She stated again.
"Hey look. Don't just try to beat yourself down over one minor flaw. As long as you're willing." Brick mysteriously butted in.
"You're still here?" Buttercup asked.
"Trust me. You three aren't the only ones who've fought their own demons recently." He assured them.
"Fought their demons?" Bubbles was confused.
"You know. When people try to push away all their past mistakes and it proves to be a more grueling task?" He explained. The girls were speechless at the moment. "Well I best be trailing off now. Later girlies!" He then flew off (Girlies? For real?).
"Something tells me they'll get even with us eventually..." (Foreshadowing?). Blossom was worried.
"Aw... don't get your hopes up. People like to scare others by saying stupid stuff like that. Well... the major difference being HIM didn't lie at least..." Buttercup said that last part to herself.
"Let's just... go home." Bubbles suggested. The others nodded and flew back.
"It's strange... I guess villains really can change. Huh; maybe we can become friends and let all that happened just blow over. If not for Mojo's actions, I don't think I'd ever learn to forgive them so easily." Blossom thought to herself. Something then came up in her thoughts; and she reminded herself: "I'll make a note of that later." It really is strange when you meet someone from your childhood and realize how much they've changed huh? Take it from me; it gets better when you least expect.
At least the day was saved... for now. Thanks... to the Powerpuff Girls! (The End)
