"This is Fox McCloud, leader of the Star Fox team. Identify yourself, or you will be boarded."
Kursed leaned back. She had successfully crossed into this dimension with her husband, Vul McBeth. Now she just needed to kill the Star Fox team in this universe so she could get to the real world.
Vul pressed a button, sending a message to the other ship.
"This is Vul McBeth, captain of the Grand Vulpes. Preparing to be boarded."
Kursed smiled.
"We've got 'em."
Fox stepped onto the strange ship, Krystal and Miyu behind him. He took a look around. It was identical in almost every way to the Great Fox, except it had red accents instead of blue.
"Weird."
A door opened up in front of them, revealing Kursed.
"Welcome aboard!"
Fox looked back and forth between Kursed and Krystal. They looked almost identical.
"I swear, I must be tripping balls right now..."
Miyu gave him a relieved look.
"Well, at least I'm not the only one."
Krystal was suspicious.
I'm picking up some ulterior motives here...
"My name is Kursed. Nice to meet you!"
"Fox McCloud. Nice to meet you too."
They shook hands. Krystal looked directly at Kursed.
Kursed internally screamed. She knew Krystal was suspicious, but she couldn't tell if the whole plan was blown.
Fox looked at Krystal.
"Something wrong?"
She looked at him, sending him a message.
"Keep an eye on her, okay? i have a bad feeling about this..."
Fox nodded and followed Kursed. Krystal and Miyu followed suit.
The group sat in the elevator, waiting for it to get to the bridge. Miyu was beginning to get impatient.
"Can this thing go any faster?"
Fox elbowed the lynx in the side.
"Shut it."
The elevator suddenly ground to a halt. Krystal groaned.
"Well, shit."
Kursed opened up a panel on the wall.
"Don't worry. I got this."
Fox looked over Kursed's shoulder and saw a button labeled "SHOCK". He suddenly realized what was going on.
"Wait just a god damn-"
An electric shock ran through his body, knocking him out almost instantly. The same happened to Miyu and Krystal. Kursed laughed.
"Gottem."
The three woke up shackled to the wall. They looked at each other. Fox grunted.
"Damn it."
Miyu sighed.
"Great. BDSM. I think we all know where this is going."
Krystal kicked Miyu, as they were close enough to touch each other.
"Don't. Remind me."
"Ow!"
Fox just leaned away a little bit.
"I don't even want to know."
"Well, good. Because I don't want to talk about it."
Kursed entered the room with Vul. Fox literally growled.
"As soon as I get out of these chains... you're both fucking dead."
Kursed just laughed.
"I don't think so."
Miyu rolled her eyes.
"Aaaaaand this is the part where the villain reveals their evil scheme to the hero via a long, dragged out monologue, and accidentally reveals that one tiny little error in their plan that the hero exploits, leading to the villain's downfall."
Fox sighed.
"How much fanfiction have you been reading?"
Miyu flushed a little bit.
"W-well... there's this guy I met online and I read his stories from time to time..."
"Sounds like someone's got a crush."
"What!? No!"
Fox just gave Miyu a blank stare.
"Okay, maybe just a bit..."
Kursed growled.
"Shut up! You're making me cringe!"
Miyu went quiet.
"Now... Vul and I are from another universe. You're probably not aware of this, but there are millions of different versions of you. More are created every day. But it gets even better. This world... technically doesn't exist."
Fox's jaw dropped. Krystal and Miyu didn't even look fazed. They both talk at the same time.
"Called it."
"This world was created digitally, inside of a cartridge made of plastic, on a computer chip. This world is a video game."
Kursed paused for a moment.
"Now, I've been to many different universes, each one being a different copy of the game. Each one I've killed off the Star Fox team so I can get closer to the real world being accessible. And now... I just need to kill you three. Slippy is dead. You are all that stands between me... and infinite power."
"Alright, but what about the part where you kill us? That never happens."
Kursed pulled out a knife.
"That's where this comes in."
She pulled back, aiming her stab.
Time seemed to slow down as Fox watched, horrified, as Kursed's arm swung in an arc. The glint of the shiny steel, the brown suede leather handle, and the golden pommel, all combined to make a deadly weapon. The knife came down...
...and struck Krystal square in the chest.
Krystal stiffened. A flood of memories spilled into Fox's mind: they were Krystal's memories, all being passed over to him. The way she had seen him when they first met. Their first mission together. Their first date. The day of their wedding. Everything was there. A single message popped into Fox's mind, sending goosebumps down his back.
"Remember: I love you, Fox. Don't forget me."
Fox watched as the light left Krystal's eyes.
Note:
Damn, this was difficult to write. I got lost several times. Sorry if it isn't very good, I just couldn't figure out what I wanted to do here so I just kinda said "Screw it" and just wrote it. Nonetheless, hope you enjoyed it!
