For a moment I just stood in place, not knowing what to say to the great Master Oogway. Grandmaster of the Jade Palace, creator (at least in the Kung Fu Panda universe) of Kung Fu, and overall one of the most mysterious characters in the franchise. Even if he only played what some would consider minor roles in movies 1and 3 and though the role he played in the 3 direct to DVD shorts were larger I still couldn't believe my eyes. Surely I had to be dreaming. Because no humans existed in the Kung Fu Panda world! I pinched myself in an attempt to wake up. But I felt pain after doing so, and Oogway was still standing in front of me with a kind smile on his face.

"If you are done needlessly hurting yourself, I suggest we get a move on." Oogway said in his usual kind matter. "The Commander may come back sooner than I instructed and he does not take kindly to strangers. Particularly oddly dressed ones who are wearing clothing that is not known in this region. Where do you come from child? Are those clothes common place where you're from? What is your name?"

To be honest, my head was swimming with thoughts. A part of me was tempted to say 'This can't be happening! You are just a character in one of my favorite franchise! This world isn't a reality! It is just presently a 3 movie franchise with one so-so Nick show and another that's on a streaming service that continues the story after the 3rd movie! So this can't be real! It has to be a dream!'

But it was like Oogway could read my thoughts. Because as he helped me out of my craggy hiding spot into the blinding light of the world using his oddly shaped walking stick to help me get out, he said:

"Young one life does not always go as planned. And I don't know how things work wherever you're from, but I have always held the belief that whatever will be, will be. And that even if we end up somewhere we did not plan on being, we often end up where we're needed. Use my walking stick until we get to a forest and I can make one for you."

I opened my mouth to protest, but Master Oogway cut me off.

"I can tell by the way you're standing you were born with some physical disability. And even if that were not the case, when you exited your hiding spot your right leg was dragging, and on top of that while I have been talking you have kept hopping to balance on your left leg. No more agruing we must be off. And please answer my questions. It would be odd for two traveling companions not know anything about each other."

Since Oogway had done all the talking up to that point I hadn't slipped in anyway. But my first sentence to him messed everything up.

"Ok Master Oogway. And thanks for the loan of your walking stick."

Master Oogway looked at me oddly. Because despite everything he said, he never once mentioned his name.

I must also apologize to you dear readers. I have not given a description of how I looked when I first arrived in the Kung Fu Panda world. It would have been easier for me perhaps, if whatever brought me to that world had dressed me as the inhabitants of that world are dressed. Alas that was not the case for me.

I was wearing blue jeans, a T-shirt (thankfully one with old 90's Nick characters and not Kung Fu Panda, how would I have explained that?) Nike sneakers, a pendant with a wolf, tiger, and panda on it, as well as bottle cap eye.glasses. My appearance physically are you asking? I am a young Caucasian woman mid 20's, with honey brown hair, and blue eyes that can change to hazel depending on what time of day it is. But enough about me, let's get to the story.

After my blunder of calling Oogway by his name without giving my own first, I had to do some quick thinking. Finally I came up with what I hoped was a believable answer.

"I heard the rhino Commander call you 'Master Oogway' so I already knew who you were. And even if he hadn't you're famous far and wide as the creator of Kung Fu. My name is Faith by the way."

"Faith a pretty name for a pretty young woman." Oogway said as we continue our trek down from the mountainous region of Chor Gom I was a little infuriated at how easily Oogway could climb down for his age.

Even with my slight jealousy over that Oogway gave me breathing tips for continuing to travel with him. He seemed to know I had no place to live in permanently either because he offered to let me stay at the Jade Palace. As I was breathless after 4 days of going down a mountain I just nodded my thanks. I was also grateful that during the descend down the mountain Oogway hadn't asked too many questions. But now getting to. level ground I knew he would start his questions. But you know something? I was ok with that. Because I had some questions too.

I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy Oogway's company. Even if I didn't talk much, he had many incredible stories of his youth to tell. They could make a story themselves. Perhaps one day I will write that story...but I'm rambling again, time to get serious and get back to the important stuff.

The movie made the journey from the prison to the Valley of Peace look easy. But let me tell you it's not. There's actually a desert you have to pass through as well. If Oogway hadn't been with me I would've survived. He had been sharing his supplies (or what was left of them) with me.He even showed me how to find edible roots and berries, making an incredible meal from nothing. He also showed how to find different sources of water. All of these new skills I was grateful to learn since I didn't know when I might need them. One night ,it was I who impressed Oogway. It happened this way, we heard a coyote howl. And I howled back sounding just like a coyote.

Oogway was impressed by my talent of mimicking other animal sounds.

"How are you able to do that?"' he asked admiration in his voice.

"I don't know." I said with a somewhat careless shrug. "Ever since I was little all I had to do was hear the call of an animal and I could do it right afterwards."

"impressive. But there's something else on your mind. I can tell." Oogway said knowingly. "A yuan for your thoughts?"

I decided to be straightforward with this question. There was no other way to be.

"Master Oogway, why'd you lead your students to believe that if they read the Dragon Scroll they would be able to hear a butterfly's wing beat? Or see light in the deepest cave when all it is, is a reflective piece of paper that if one truly understands it, knows that if they try their hardest they can accomplish almost anything."

"You really are something special young Faith." Oogway said after getting over his shock. "Let me ask you something. In the world you come from there are artifacts are there not? And don't people hear stories about those artifacts that may or may not be true?"

"It happens all the time." I had to admit. I also wondered how Oogway knew that I was from another world. But then, this is Oogway we're talking about. He often knows more than he lets on.

"Same thing happened with the Dragon Scroll." Oogway explained. "I just said that it was one of the highest teachings and that the one who understood it would be the greatest warrior 'The Dragon Warrior'. Everyone else added what they thought that meant. I didn't stop them because they would found out the truth about the scroll when the time was right."

I felt bad once he said that because everything made sense now. But then Oogway dropped a bomb on me. He said that I was going to be a special helper to the Dragon Warrior because of my ability to mimic animal sounds. I wondered what Shifu would think of that. Especially with my physical limitations. And no Kung Fu abilities. He wouldn't like it. But also wouldn't be able to argue with Oogway. I started mentally preparing myself for in a week I would be at the Jade Palace meeting Master Shifu.
