Naruto woke up with a strangled gasp, his hand grasping the scar above his right eye. The blond breathed heavily, his body covered in sweat. After a few minutes of silently sitting in the bed, he remembered where he was.
The blond quickly went under the shower and after turning on hot water his thoughts drifted to recent events.
Two weeks have passed since he ran away from Konoha and was branded a traitor. The Hokage didn't wait long to put him into the Bingo Books as an A-Ranked threat. Dead or alive it said. Well, he should have expected it, after all, everyone thought he was the one to kill his Sensei and one of Konoha's great heroes, Uchiha Shisui.
The problem is that he didn't do it. His memories of the day were very blurry. He vaguely remembers going to his training grounds to wait for Shisui. While he waited Itachi came and the two had a light spar, after this, all he can remember are blurry pictures, much shouting, large usage of Chakra, but as he tries to learn anything else his head starts aching.
When his memories stop being blurry he remembers Shisui's lifeless body lying under a tree. Itachi's broken form on the opposite side of the clearing, crawling away. Then was the blood, the whole cleaning was full of it. A large pool of blood was under Shisui, which trailed to the middle of the clearing. The tree we were leaned against was also colored with the Uchiha's life essence.
Then came a lapse in memories and when he finally remember anything he was facing a squad of Chunin. Not sure why they were attacking him, he decided to knock them out, after all, they were Konoha nin.
The blond learned a bit of why they were attacking him during their fight when they shouted at him as a traitor. And so, after defeating them, confused and scared, the blond ran away. He knocked out the gate guards and ran away as fast as he could.
After some time of running, he decided to take a short break. A big mistake. The sound of rain might have hidden the Uchiha's approach, but the blond's instincts warned him about the attack much faster than it came.
Knowing very well how emotion-driven his Uchiha teammate could be, the blond used Shadow Clones and a smoke bomb to lose his tail, but he failed. After Sasuke caught up to him they had a short fight, he won and ran again. End of story.
Now, he was a missing-nin, no comrades, no idea what to do, and only one goal. To find out what happened that day and make the responsible pay. Naruto sighed and turned the water off. After coming out of the shower he looked into the mirror and scowled at the scar above his eye.
His cerulean blue eyes burned into it, hoping for it to disappear. When this didn't work after five minutes, the blond sighed and stood straight up. Pushing his sun-kissed hair back so they wouldn't fall into his eyes he left the shower.
Quickly packing whatever belonging he had, which was not a lot, into a backpack, the blond started to dress and prepare to leave. He put on a pair of white hakama and bandaged them from shins down. To this, he put on a black loose Kimono-shirt and a white Haori over it. A dark-blue obi-sash held his katana at his waist and a pair of casual black shinobi sandals were on his feet.
This new outfit was very different from his previous standard-issue Konoha garb. It was a good thing, it would allow him to blend more with the general populace and avoid the eyes of Shinobi, whether from Konoha or any other.
He threw his backpack over his right shoulder and left the room, it was time to get some breakfast.
Back in Konoha, in the Hokage office, two powerful men had a meeting. They were Sarutobi Hiruzen and Jiraiya of the Sannin.
"Sensei, I still can't believe Minato's son did this. Excluding the fact that he was loyal to Konoha, do you really believe he could have defeated either Itachi or Shisui? Or them two at the same time? I know he was strong, very strong, but those two were S-Ranked for a reason, feared across the countries and arguably two of the best Konoha had created in history,"
Hiruzen sat calmly, smoking on his pipe while his student rambled. Of course, he knew how strong Itachi and Shisui were, either on their own or as a team, so also had no idea how Naruto did it.
"Well, he does have this sword and the Kyuubi inside of him," The aged Hokage stated. Jiraiya looked at him with a surprised expression.
"Do you really think he might have accessed the Kyuubi's power? The seal should have prevented it, after all, no one touched it. And the sword? Yes, it might have explained it slightly, but still, I don't he has mastered it to this extent,"
Hiruzen sat silently for a few moments, smoking, thinking, and looking out on his Village. After the silence, he finally spoke. "Whether he accessed the Kyuubi's power, mastered the sword to this extend, or if he was strong enough on his own to do this is all unknown. Itachi can't recollect the fight at all, even with the help of Yamanaka, Shisui is dead and Naruto is on the run. All we know for now is that Naruto killed Shisui and almost did the same to Itachi,"
"Yet, you still posted him as an A-Ranked threat in the bingo books,"
"I did indeed. After all, all S-Ranked missing-nin's are supposed to be executed on the spot. By being marked as A-Ranked, he might be taken alive and maybe, just maybe shed some light on the situation,"
"Do I need to...," Jiraiya stopped momentarily.
"I will let you decide what you do from now on, so long you maintain your spy network, keep reporting in and come here during any emergencies," The sandaime stated and turned around to face Jiraiya. "But remember, we don't know if Naruto is our enemy now, so proceed with great caution. That's all, you are dismissed,"
Jiraiya nodded with a grim smile and left the office, he needed to get in contact with a few of his old agents.
Second chapter is here, still on the short side but hopefully next ones will be longer. Hopefully you liked it.
