Confusion

2023

Talia's POV

"Talia, what's going on?" Puck popped in.

"This random fox came outta nowhere and Kai's gone." I told him.

"Huh." Puck circled the fox.

"Hello, Puck." He tried to lick his face.

"Hey, knock it off." Puck frowned.

"Am good boy!" He argued.

"What's the last thing you remember?" Puck asked.

"Mistress was giving me pets when Zara-" He started.

"Who's Zara?" Adri asked.

"Zara gone?" He paused, getting upset.

"Hey, we don't know that, just keep telling the story." I soothed.

"Zara started covering my marks and then I got mad. Now I here." He finished.

"Did you think anything before you came here?" Puck asked.

"Didn't wanna share with Zara." He said.

"Exact words." Puck clarified.

"'I wish I didn't have to share with Zara.'" He rubbed my hand for more pets.

"Ah, that would do it. Well, Zara is probably ok. You were sent here because Talia only has one Pet." Puck nodded.

I petted him. "What's your name?"

"Ragen!" He marked my arm.

"What do we do?" Adri asked.

"We'll think of something." I said.

Kai's POV

I was on the floor. Mistress and another strange fox were on the couch. She had white fur and a short black stripe on her tail. Her skin was copper with a yellow undertone. She had freckles across her nose and medium brown eyes. She put her black hair in a ponytail. When did I get to the castle?

"New fox, new fox! Mistress! New fox!" She yelled. I sniffed the air. She was a female Beta.

"I Kai! Am good boy!" I stamped my paw.

"Zara, what's going on?" Hudson asked.

"Ragen poof!" Zara explained.

"Mistress, rub tummy." I walked over.

"No, my Mistress!" She barked at me.

"Mistress pet me!" I barked back.

"Hey, no fighting. Be nice." Mistress said.

I sat in front of Mistress. She rubbed my ears. My tail thumped on the ground. Puck came in. He looked at us. A man with orange hair and green eyes came in. I stood in front of Mistress and barked at him.

"Dat Alex." Zara said.

I furrowed my brow, but sniffed his hand anyway. His magic smelt deeper. Human musk with bit of the heated castle stone and summer sun. I let him pet my face. Then I was done. Zara got off the couch and sniffed me. She smelt like blackberries, pine nut, and clover. It was good smell.

"Ragen is gone and this Pet showed up. This must have something to do with the mentor shower." She explained.

"Does anyone know what happened?" Alex asked.

We shook our heads.

"We'll figure something out. For now though, it's time for your magic lesson." Puck sighed.

"Ok, Dad." Mistress got up. She petted Zara. I whined. She scratched my ears.

"C'mon, let's go tell Mom and Dad what happened." Alex led us out.
