If only Luna knew this would be a day she would never forget.

"Loony! Time for your haircut!" Her mother called.

Luna was excited- her hair was all the way past her hips now, and wanted it cut down shorter. She zoomed down the staircase and saw her mother in the bathroom with her wand.

"Are you going to use magic this time?" Luna asked.

"Yes," her mother replied. "Remember last time when we used scissors? It took an hour. Magic will make it much quicker and easier. Perhaps a Trimming Charm will do the trick?"

Luna nodded. She didn't know much about any spells, so she didn't really care.

Her mother pointed her wand at a strand of her hair near her shoulders, then performed the charm.

Then it happened.

There was a flash of green light, then Luna saw her mother collapse in the mirror. Panicked, she spun around, to see her mother lying on the floor. Her chest, cut open with a wound, and her lifeless, unmoving eyes staring up at the ceiling.

Luna called for her father desperately, tears streaming down her cheeks.

It was a day she didn't like to remember.

"Pandora!" her father had screamed, tears streaming down his face as well. He grabbed her and dashed toward the Portkey shelf.

"Where are you going?" Luna asked, but her father was too periocupied in looking for the correct Portkey.

"The Weasley's, Diagon Alley, Quibbler Headquarters… St. Mungo's, here it is…"

Luna saw her father looking at a long iron nail, which she had never noticed. Had it always been there, or was it new?

She watched her father take her mother away on the Portkey.

"Wait! Daddy!" she cried, but he had disappeared before he had realized.

She stood there, not knowing what to do. She paced around panicking. What's going to happen to Mummy?

She turned toward the fireplace. Her parents said she wasn't allowed to take Floo Powder until she was eleven, it was the one way of transportation they forbidded her to use on her own, but it was the only way…

She grabbed a handful, some of it seeping underneath her fingernails, and ducked under the fireplace.

"Um, St. Mungos!" she said confidently, copying whatever her father had said, and released her closed fistful of Floo powder.

She found herself face-down on a white tiled floor. She looked up and saw her father, surprised to see her.

"Luna?"

"I'm sorry, Daddy. I wasn't allowed to but I stil did… I just didn't want to stay home not knowing…"

"It's okay, Lu-lu," he said, picking her up and placing her on the seat next to him. "You were scared. I understand. It was my fault, I should've remembered to bring you along, or at least have you stay with the Weasley's for a bit..."

"Excuse me, are you Xenophilius Lovegood? Husband to-"

"Pandora, yes, how is she?"

"Where's Mummy?" Luna demanded.

"Well…" The Healer said, then broke the news to the family.
