Sorry for the wait, been discussing what to do with the story with my beta, and I was also busy trying to beat chapter 7, fuck Patriot and his BS. Anyway, after reading the comments, I really liked the suggestions for what Yelena could do. Were definitely building the village up to be like yeti squadron to be her new family. Her oripathy will be non-fatal, for now.. now I'm guessing you wondering why would I say this. Well since I don't want the story to get dull, or it makes me go on a hiatus due to writers block, I wanted to make that a plot point. Her oripathy will turn fatal once something major exacerbates it, which will start the timer.
I won't spoil much of anything else since a lot of this won't happen for a while. And I just want to say this once again, like I did in the AN before I deleted it. She won't be shipped with anyone or form a romantic attachments, since she doesn't want to disappoint those she loves once she dies. That and the original personality of the mc is not really into having romantic relationships.
Anyway, this AN has gone on for too long. Please leave constructive criticism, and I would like to hear more on what you would all like to see in the future. Though just be warned I might've already had some of it planned, but I would still love to hear what you have to say regardless.
Like always please leave constructive criticism, and I would love to see and hear what you all think.
I don't own RWBY, nor do I own Arknights, they belong to their rightful owners.

Update: made some edits to fix some grammar, and to add some more dialogue for the Chief at the end.
Update 2: 3rd chapter is going to take some time, I like to say I'm like 20ish% complete? I apologize for the delay but its going to be a long chapter. I can understand how people can feel when they're excited to see the next one, but I rather not rush this since I rather it not diminish in quality. I hope you understand and continue being patient while I continue to write the next chapter. Also to tease you folks, someone unexpected is going to be showing up, and I'm not gonna tell ya.
I woke up with a groan, my body ached with the feeling of being hit by a mountain, pulsing headache included. I blinked away the sleep from my eyes, to only groan when I realize I was feeling the sun was hitting my face. 'Damn that sun' I thought to myself as I sat up I looked around to see that I was in bed, which begged the question how did I get here, and I prayed that I didn't accidentally hurt someone while they moved me.
Getting out of bed, I looked around as I stretched to wake my body up a bit more. I saw that I was back in my bedroom, I felt my throat tighten from remembering all the events that happened yesterday, both from before I reincarnated as her, to after I reincarnated, my family is dead.. was what hit the most. Sighing to myself, I looked down to see I was still in my clothes from yesterday, 'I guess they realized that they can't touch my bare skin.' she thought to herself with a frown. Which begs the question on how I got here in the first place, I shook my head and focused on the now. I decided to get throw on a new pair of clothes, and undergarments since my current ones were dirtied with blood and worse.
After changing my clothes to my winter clothing due to feeling cold, I left my bedroom to see the ice that encased the place had disappeared, 'I guess it thawed, or it just magically disappeared once I passed out' I thought. Heading to the kitchen I saw my parents bodies were gone, which made me sad, but also happy that they were going to be buried. Once in the kitchen I decided to brew myself a hot cup of tea, if there is one thing Yelena and I share in common its our love for hot drinks, and the feeling of being warm. I can honestly understand now, this cold persistent feeling my body is feeling both internally and externally is annoying, even with my change of clothes.
While I was brewing my cuppa, I saw people milling about outside the window, and saw the coffins that I made for the dead were moved, 'I guess we'll be doing the burial today, I doubt they would want to do it the same day after the attack' was what I thought. My thoughts soon died off when I heard something to snap me out of it, *knock, knock, knock* I heard from the front door, sighing softly to myself, I made my way to it and opened it to saw a crowd of kids standing outside, one a little girl no older than 6 holding a bouquet of flowers, "Frost! You're awake! We brought you flowers!" The child said happily as they held it up to me.
I couldn't help but get a warm fuzzy feeling inside, 'Heh... even before my reincarnation, the idea of being a parent tickled the back of my mind, since I was 28 at the time, I still knew I wasn't ready to take that leap yet, even though I never really felt much for romance or getting married, but I guess the idea of being a mom sounds nice once things settle down sooner or later'. I gave the kids a gentle smile as I crouch down and took the flowers from them, "Thank you little one, I.. can't really express how nice these are." I said gently as I stood up, holding the flowers, with the gloves on I didn't have to risk them freezing. I hummed softly, and gave them a gentle smile, "You kids better go before your parents get worried." I said with a smile, "Also the next time you visit I might have something to give you all for being so kind." She added which made them excited as they went off to find their parents. Though I saw some that looked sad or dejected at the mention of that, which made me either think they're injured and recovering, or they're dead, which made frown. 'I'll make sure this doesn't happen again, and I'll make sure to give these kids the happiness they deserve.' I vowed to myself as he I went back to making my tea.
After a while of burning my insides from my tea, I finally left the house, and what I saw made me angry, and sadly. Homes were destroyed, but were in the process of being fixed quickly. I saw a lot of the people giving me some smiles, showing they were happy to see that I was okay, but others just walked by with construction material paying me no heed, which I didn't mind, they needed to do their job and I respected that they put that first before anything else. Continuing my stroll, I rolled my shoulders a little, still feeling stiff from my sleep but continued on to see where the graves where, and when I reached our cemetery, I saw that things were all prepped, holes dug, and stone slabs with names carved.
My throat tightened a little especially when I saw the child size holes, and what didn't help is that I knew all their names by heart. Yelena used to play and babysit for them as well, 'may your souls be at ease little ones, and may you find peace and happiness in your next life.' I prayed silently. I was about to head off and try to do something to help with rebuilding, but I saw people beginning to gather around, a lot of them happy to see that I was okay after yesterday, I did see some whom were wary of me, which I didn't hold against them, especially after what happened yesterday.
An older man, probably 20 or so years older than my dad had stepped forward. I knew this man, he was the village chief, and he was the grandfather or older uncle of the village. "Good morning Miss. Frost, I'm glad to see you're awake and okay, you gave us all a major fright when you passed out suddenly after that speech yesterday." He said in a warm tone almost fatherly tone to me. He then sighed a little, "We all can't express it enough, but we're all grateful that you saved us yesterday, and I would be lying if I said we aren't a little scared of you, but a lot of us all saw you grow up into the young woman you are today, and we know you're a kind and passionate girl despite what you did yesterday." He said, with the others all nodding and voicing their agreements, even those that were wary of me.
I couldn't help but smile at this, I guess this is what Yelena felt with her squadron, her followers... her family, I guess this why she was attached to them, it feels nice. "I did what was needed, I... just lost it when they killed my parents.. and then seeing all the death, destruction and Grimm, I just couldn't standby and let you, the ones that I care about suffer like this." I said.
I saw the expressions on everyone that had gathered, the emotions they all felt from hearing what I had said was clear in their eyes and faces. I felt the same, I wanted to show my fears, and sadness in front of them, to break down and cry for what has happened. But I remained stoic, for not only them, but for the kids that were there with them. "I promised you all that we'll all be safe, and I will not rest till justice has been dealt." I said with some determination in my tone. 'I just want to shut myself away, please just let me.' I thought to myself as I saw that more people started to gather around, I saw the mortician coming out with enough pallbearers to carry all 35 of the ice coffins with them.
I took in a deep breath from seeing this, and I began to hear the cries and sniffs of those that knew the people that had died. My throat had tightened, but I took in a breath to settle my nerves. "I'm not good with speeches.. but I'll say my piece for them.. today we grieve for those that have passed away too soon, leaving behind their families, and children too soon. Their deaths have been too soon, a lot of them too young to even learn and experience this world of ours. But we'll keep their memories close to our hearts, and cherish what we remember of them, and remember for what they did for us. The parents that fought tooth and nail to protect their children and loved ones, the older brothers and sisters that fought to protect their younger siblings, the grandparents that died fighting so their children and grandchildren can live to see tomorrow. For their sacrifice is the reason why we all survived, and we got to see the next day." I said while the pallbearer's began to lower the coffins into the holes.
With what control I had I began to make flowers of ice, and began to place them on top of each coffin, paying my respects to them. I knew my parents were among them which made me choke a little when I finally got to them. Today is the day I felt like I lost a part of me when I paid my respects to the dead and to my parents. Today is the requiem of my innocence of this world, for now my anger will all be that remembered by those that will bring harm to those I cherish.
I looked towards the now blue sky, I blinked when I saw white starting to fall from it, I held my hand out to see snow falling into my palm, 'It seems the heavens are crying' I thought.
A good amount of time had passed after we had buried them, it was now midday, we had grieved, cried, and laughed from talking about the memories we had of them. From Yelena's memories she's was close with everyone in the village, especially with the children, I remember how they would call her big sister, or how they would ask her to play with them despite her feeling tired or worn out. We all had a feast, wanting to enjoy the foods the dearly departed had enjoyed, wanting to show that despite their passing we will carry their memories with us, and not let the holes that they left get us down.
I had snuck away and was sitting by a tree, I had let my hair down, hiding the frozen tears that fell down my cheeks. I looked down at a glass of vodka I had snuck away with. I normally don't drink vodka straight, but I made the exception for the day. bringing the glass to my lips and took a small sip from it, amazed by how smooth it went down unlike the vodka's I had neat before my death, I was then hit by the warming sensation it gave, it was enough to make me shiver happily from the warmth, 'I can see why she said this was her only pleasure to make her feel warm... maybe I should make those alcoholic spice candies of hers, or ask someone to do it.' I mused to myself while swirling my glass. I looked up at the sky even before my reincarnation I've always loved spicy food, the spicier the better, except for ghost pepper that's just torture and pain, but mapo tofu was one of my greatest loves, and it was also this world's Yelena's favorite, and funnily enough my mom from this world as well. 'Funny that we would all share our love for spicy things, and alcohol.' I thought to myself. 'Yelena... I will not go back on my promise on giving you a peaceful life, and a family. I will do all I can to make that dream a reality for you.. No I guess I should say for us' I thought.
My thoughts were broken as I finished the rest of my drink and heard foot steps, turning my head, I saw it was some of the of people that fought during the raid, "Yelena, you talked about wanting to bring justice on the bandits that raided us?" a young man, probably in their early to mid 20's spoke. I gave him a nod, and looked at the small group, "I did, I assume you guys and gals want to join me?" I asked them, only to get a nod, sighing at this I looked at them with my grey eyes boring into theirs, "You know this will be dangerous right? And I still don't have control of my ar... 'Semblance' so there is a risk you might end up getting frozen or frostbitten." I said to them.
I saw the thoughtful expressions on their faces, I knew they were having some second thoughts, but that thought was quickly dashed when I saw they were looking towards the rest of the villagers having the time of the life, seeing them laugh as they either drink, eat, or in the case for the children playing. Their gazes said it all, and I just smiled, getting up I looked at them, "We leave at sundown by the entrance, don't be late." I said, "Let's enjoy what time we have left here before we make the trek." I said gently.
"Yes ma'am!" They chorused, which earned a giggle from me, "Please don't call me ma'am, I'm still younger than you guys, just call me Yelena or... FrostNova when we go after them." I said. My mind was in a panic from what I had just said, the biggest reason was, would I be willing to do the very same things she did when she was a part of Reunion? or would I try to go the non-violent route? But I knew what Yelena felt since we were one in the same, minds and souls merged, I felt that it won't be long till my old self will just be an echo, but I'll continue to do everything I can for her before that happens. My train of thought was broken when the group had gave me a smile, "Alright then Yelena, shall we go enjoy the food then? I'm sure they have mapo tofu," he said which had my attention in a instant.
Hours had passed, we all decided to take the tuck early so we wouldn't be tired for the counter raid we had planned earlier. When I had woke up I decided to take a quick, and very hot shower, hot enough that it would scald a normal person, aura or not. After getting out and drying off what I could, I had thrown on an outfit that looked scarily similar the one she wore in the game, jacket not included. My hair was down, and the right side of my bangs were held back with three hair clips, I had threw on some boots, and I starred at myself in the mirror in silence.
I was scared, I'm honest to god scared. I should have realized there would be no way for me to use my powers with the damn name of the thing that let's me use my arts, Originium. I had oripathy, I should have realized that while changing my clothes earlier today, but I guess I never realized it or was too lost in my thoughts. I finally saw the signs of it on my body while changing into my current clothes. The black spots had formed on top of my breasts, and from the looks of it, they looked like rough hard scabs currently. 'Am... Am I going to die? Or was the god generous to make it non-fatal?' were the main thoughts I had. I had to calm down before I make things worse on myself, 'I... I need to be very careful with using my arts now, or it might exacerbate it.' I thought. I decided to distract myself while trying to come up with a way to craft a wand or something so I can use my arts without using the originium in my body. But the biggest thing that kept getting in the way of that was that I needed Originium to do that. Which begs the question, why didn't they give me a weapon catalyst to use my arts? Instead it had to be with originium in my body.
Snapping out of my thoughts, I realized the sun was going down quickly. 'Enough, I don't have time to think about this, I need to get to the meeting spot.' I thought. I took a breath and left my bedroom, and walked to the meeting spot by the entrance of the village. Before I had left the house though I had decided to delay myself a little to grab a kitchen knife as a means of protection. 'It might not be much, but mom always kept them sharp enough that they could cut to the bone effortlessly if not careful.' I mused, the thought of my mom brought a smile to my face, before it died off as I quickly headed out the door to meeting spot. When I saw the group I counted everyone from hours before were there, armed with whatever they could get their hands on. Giving them some nods, I then took a breath, "I don't know what to say to inspire you guys, so I'll just skip that, instead I'll go straight and tell you what were going to do. We're going to find the bandit camp, and hit them hard like they did to us. Now... let's go, and please remember to call me FrostNova and use code names while were doing this." I said.
A young man who was probably only a few years older than me had walked over, it was clear he was a faunus with the small deer antlers atop his head. In his hand was an old but well taken cared of bow, with a quiver of arrows attached to his hip. "FrostNova, I'll take point, I know how to track thanks to my old man. And hopefully their tracks are still fresh enough that they will lead us back to them." He said grinning. "Also you guys can call me Roe during this hunt," He said.
I along with the others all gave a nod, "Alright then, lead the way Roe," I said with a light smile as we all followed behind him while he took point and lead us to where they were seen coming and leaving from. It took a while but Roe was able to find some tracks, and even a scent that lead away from the village.
I and along with the rest of the group were a bit tired from the long trek, and frankly I was glad to recommend that we all tuck in early before we headed off. Roe suddenly froze when his ears shot up and he looked in the direction of the noise he heard as his nose twitched a bit, "They're over there, there's camp I mean." He said with a whisper. pointing in the direction. I knew it as well, my ears had picked up the sound of them as well, but I wanted hear what he had to say as well.
We all made the trek to where they were, I saw there were tree's and surrounding the camp, and some of it was in a clearing. crouching down to make it harder for me to be seen even with my long rabbit ears, I looked at everybody whom did the same. "Okay everyone, here's the plan, I'm going to stroll right through their front door and distract them, I want all those that are armed with ranged weapons to hide in the trees with enough space to shoot them when I give the signal. Those with melee weapons, stay outside by the entrance, so I don't freeze you guys by accident, same as the others I'll give the signal to attack," I said. "Now go get in your positions, they were stupid enough to not have any guards out front, so were going to use that to our advantage." I said with a smirk.
"Right away FrostNova." They all whispered, I stopped Roe before he could head off, "Roe, if things go south, do all you can to get everybody out of here." I said with a serious expression, "If it does happen, I don't want you guys to get caught in the effects of what is come." I said firmly to him. He looked like he wanted to disagree, but the cold serious expression I was giving him made them reluctantly agree, "Damn brat, okay FrostNova I promise I'll get them out. You know despite us being a few years apart you seem older than you appear when you're this serious." He said amused before running off.
I just shook my head at his comment in amusement, I looked at the camp and followed the close combat group to the entrance. We stared at the front gate, with a frown, I lift my hand up, despite my displeasure in using the originium in my body to use my arts, I had no choice until I find a way to make a weapon that let me use them without the risk of speeding my oripathy, or until I get myself a better than this kitchen knife. I sighed as I started started to sing softly as I channeled my arts through the originium in my blood and body. A strong breeze shot forward, the ground in front of me along with the gate had frozen completely solid, forming a literal log made out of ice I had it shot through the gate, killing whoever was in front of it with the shards or the ice log as I strolled through it.
The log had dissipated as I walked by the bodies, casting a glance I saw some had ice shards buried into their bodies, or had completely cut them in half from how they went through them, I saw some with their guts spilling out on the ground, some either still alive like those who had the shards buried into their bodies and unable to move, or were killed instantly. Some with parts if not their whole of heads missing, leaving either just a smear and puddle on the ground, or those unlucky enough, the tops of their skulls crushed or had been shot off, revealing their brain and grey matter spilling onto the ground. I knew people can survive with parts of their brain missing, with luck, but these guys probably won't able to do much now. I wanted to throw up from the death I caused, but I had to remain strong and uncaring as I marched forward. The ground behind freezing with every step I made towards them, I saw through the corners of eyes the dying or dead had been flash frozen, they then snapped up towards the people in front of me, these are the bastards that have no qualms of killing others, especially children. That last thought made the air around me turn frigid. They will not get any mercy.
"Surrender now, and turn yourself into the authorities, if you don't I'll make your death's painful." I said in a cold uncaring tone towards them.
Silence, the bandits and their leader just stared at me, as if wondering why does this 'faunus' bitch have the balls to say such a thing while surrounded. "Who.. the fuck do you think you are you, you dirty animal!? You not only had the balls to break down our front door, but killed a damn good amount of my people." The man whom I presume is the leader of this bandit tribe. "What are you, some fresh huntress that has seen the world for what it truly is? Or are you some no good orphan faunus who unlocked their aura by accident and wants to get their revenge?" He said with a sneer, while the others laughed at this.
I just stared at them with uncaring eyes, "No... I am much worse than a huntress, an orphan? Yeah I guess I am now, but you've attacked my village, and I'm here to pay you all back ten fold for the deaths you caused." I said in a ever so calm tone. Before they could do anything, I began to sing which confused them.
[play Untitled World English cover by Mewsic]
My voice carried itself throughout the camp, "What are you guys doing! Attack the bitch! And maybe once we knock her down a peg I'll let one of you have fun!" The tribe leader ordered.
This earned roars of excitement as they charged at me, it was as if they wanted to be killed. I lifted my hand up and pointed its open palm at them, a white ball of energy started to gather in front of the palm of my hand. The air was cold enough around me to cause 1st degree frostbite, I glared at them as I released the built up energy at the ground, freezing not only parts of the camp in ice, but a good 10 or so of the bandits that were reckless enough to charge head on and to those in the corner of my eyes. Their expressions of the ice statues were of a mix of horror and shock. I looked at the others with the same cold and uncaring expression.
Before they could do anything else, arrows began to rain down on them, hitting them in vital areas, or wounding them in places that would be painful, like the guts. Some even landed headshots. Followed by the roars of those with melee weapons pouring through the gate and at the bandits. the shock and awe of everything didn't allow them to react fast enough. I looked towards the leader of the tribe, and began walking towards him, I saw that he had reached for his weapon and was about to charge till I reacted first and fired off multiple ice bullets at him, freezing it to his hands, while managing to cause his limbs to either be incased in ice, or with such severe frostbite it was already going necro.
[song end]
His roars of pain could be heard as I fired a couple more into his legs now, doing the same as his arms. "You bitch!" He growled as he tried to move, only to have his legs sliced off by a blade of ice. which had frozen the stumps on contract. "You killed 35 of us, 15 of those being children... some not even old enough to experience the world. Call me a bitch, but wouldn't that make you a bitch for doing such a horrific things to children? The parents that grieved for their loved ones would love to get their hands on you, but I won't let them stain their hands more than they already had defending their loved one from you lot." I said. He growled, "So what, I bet most of their parents were faunus anyway, not like this world needs more of you freaks here." He said sneering, only for me to grab his face, ice and frostbite now starting to form on his ugly mug, "You talk too much for a dead man, now just die." I stated coldly, and froze his head completely. I turned to the group and saw that we had a few injuries, but luckily nothing serious. "Search the camp, if there are any captives, make sure they don't see the bodies. I'm going to search his tent." I ordered.
Turning away I looked at the tribe leaders tent and went inside of it.
The inside was something I wouldn't have expected from a bandit tribe leader, it was well decorated, with some modern amenities, some of which wouldn't have been easy to steal. Which begs the question how did this disgusting person get their hands on this stuff. As I was searching I mainly found Knick knacks from their raids, hair bundles probably from their kidnappings. I paused when I found a folder with a familiar logo on it, 'what the...' I opened the folder before my thoughts finished, and I began to look what was in the folder, my body shook, my grip on the folder was enough to make the edges of the folder start to frost over a little, the ground was at the cusps of freezing. 'No... oh god is that why this tribe raided us?' I thought. 'Oh god... how long has this been going on for? How many tribes have they contracted to do this.' I thought in horror and anger. I read more of the contract, only to frown when I saw the location of their drop off, 'I guess that's why they hired bandits, they would know how to get there, well that crosses off where the mine is but now the question is... will they be willing to help me rescue them?' I thought as I left the tent.
I saw that my group were leading whatever captives remained out of the camp, while the few women of my group helped the women and children that were also captured, my face turned into a deep frown when I saw this, I'm going to take great pleasure in burning this camp to the ground. I followed them, and once we were out of the camp we asked them to open their eyes now, "I'm sure you already heard it from my ragtag group, but you're all safe now, we took care of the bandits, and you won't be seeing them ever again." I said assuring everyone, I motioned for Roe to come over, "Roe, I need you to take this, and read the contents of the folder to the rest of the group when we have to stop and rest for the people we saved." I said to him. "If any of you have fire dust, use it to burn this camp to ground and catch up to us." I ordered and began leading everyone back to the village.
It took a few hours due to how weak the people we had rescued were, but we got there safely, with some near close calls from Grimm, but were quickly taken cared off. When we exited the forest, I saw the lights of our village as we neared it, I saw people had gathered around the square. 'They must've realized a good amount of us were missing and tried to search for us. I'm not surprised we were attacked nearly two days ago,' I thought as I and my group along with those rescued finally arrived, "Yelena! (followed by the names of those that were with me in my group) Where were all of you?! Who are these people?" The village chief said.
I put my finger to my lip in a shushing gesture, as I motioned to the children that were asleep amongst those saved. I decided to be upfront about what we did since there was no reason to lie or hide it, especially when we had some injuries in our group. "We counter raided the bandit tribe that attacked us sir, I, along with this ragtag group of mine had decided to go after them, most out of revenge, some for justice. The bandit tribe will not be a problem to us anymore," I said which he picked up on in a instant. "Yelena... you..." He pauses, I knew he was speechless and sad that I the girl he saw as a granddaughter had spilled more blood, all to protect them. "Thank you.." He said softly. "We'll make sure to those you rescued have their injuries treated, and be given some warm clothes." He said gently, "You did a good job Yelena, as much as I don't agree with the actions you took, you saved us from another tragedy in the future." He said giving a bow.
I just shook my head, "I only did it to keep you all safe, and I didn't want you or anyone else to spill more blood than you guys already had." I said, "Your the grandfather to all of us, and us seeing you suffer like this is something we couldn't let stand." I said and was about to reach out to touch his shoulder only to pull my hand away quickly realizing I forgot to put my gloves back on, which I did quickly. "Also.. I found something disturbing in the leader of the tribes tent, its not something I would've expected from a tribe, a bandit one nonetheless, but its something you and everyone here, my group already seen on the way here, and its something I think we need to deal with." I said firmly.
Roe at this moment came over after hearing what I had said, folder in hand he hands it to the village chief, "Here you go chief, it was eye opening, and I along with the rest of us agree with Yelena, we need to handle this quickly before it gets out of hand." He said with a frown. I gave him a thankful glance before looking back at the chief with a determined expression.
The village chief looked at us, and sighed. "Alright, I'll read it to everyone." He said with some reluctance, showing as much as he wanted to keep us out of whatever is happening, but since this involved all of us he had to make sure everyone was well informed. He looked down at the folder in his hand, a big snow flake logo was plastered on the front of it, seeing this he couldn't help but wonder what the hell are we all getting into. Opening the white folder did not only the fate of our village change, but the fate of mistral if not the world will be changed by what was read to everyone.
Man this has to be the longest chapter I've written to date, 5k+ words. lol
Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed the chapter, I thought it turned out good, as did my beta. I know her development is slow, but I'm going with the slow natural development, she did use to be someone who more or less wasn't the type to be confrontational and is very friendly and caring type. And witnessing how their mindset is changing, and steadily becoming more and more cold and uncaring towards those that earn her anger is going to be scaring them. Especially with killing so many people, bandits or not its going to freak them out even if they can't express it due to the moment being a kill or be killed situation.
Anyway, like I said previously please leave constructive criticism and let me know what you liked. The 3rd chapter will be a bit slow to write ( and is still in the planning process. My beta and I already have things planned for it, but I need to work more things for it.
