Chapter 2: Becoming a legend

Beep…

Beep…

Beep….

Kevin slowly opened his eyes. ' god it feels like my head got hit by a truck' he thought. Kevin then looked around and saw that he was in a hospital. Most of the technology was really advanced looking.

A nurse then entered the room holding what looked like a holographic clipboard. She then looked at him and said "you're finally awake." Kevin then asked "how long was I out for?" The nurse then said "only a few hours."

Outside the sun looked like it was about to set. " good thing there was a medic already there that assisted you when you collapsed" said the nurse. Kevin wasn't really paying attention to what the rest of the nurse was saying.

He was still trying to wrap his head around the fact that he was in the future. Not even a close future. He was in the far future, with now way back. The nurse then interrupted his thoughts " well we ran some more tests to determine if you are fit to leave." Kevin then did the test and was discharged from the hospital.

He went to go collect his belongings then went outside. Kevin at this point didn't know what to do. He didn't know anyone here. He was lost at this moment.

"Must be tough" said a voice. Kevin then turned to the voice, It was the same old man from earlier. "Got nowhere to go?" Kevin didn't answer the man.

Kevin started to walk away. He didn't feel comfortable around this man. Kevin then looked down at the watch. Hoping he didn't need to use it to escape. Then the man said " going to walk through more walls to get away."

This surprised Kevin. How did this man know about the watch? " Where are my manners names Kuben Blisk".

" Kevin Brown." " That was a pretty crazy thing you did back there at the legends celebration," said kuben. Kuben then said " never seen a piece of tech like that where did you get it." "Made it myself," said Kevin.

"Smart too. How about I make you an offer?" Kuben then reached into his pocket and pulled out a card. He then gave the card to Kevin. Kevin then looked down at the card. "What's this supposed to do," Kevin asked. When he looked up Kuben was gone. Kevin went back to the same way before. He didn't know what to do again.

He traced the symbol on the card. The card then lit up and Kevin dropped it out of reflex. What came up was what looked like a holographic map. Then was a point on the map that was flashing. With nothing else better to do, Kevin then started to walk towards it.

Time skip

Kevin learned about the city he was in. It is on a planet called solace. Kevin then had hope that he was only on a different planet. Solace was like Earth when it came to time.

It had the same rotational period as Earth. He was still stuck in the future, but also on a different planet. ' how will I ever get home,' he thought.

When Kevin stopped he saw he was on the dot. He then looked up and saw a big facility. The card then directed him to the entrance. Kevin then went up and noticed that there weren't any handles to the door.

'How do I get in?' As soon as he thought this a scanner came up it scanned him. "New legend confirmed," said a robotic voice. The door then opened up. Kevin then walked in. What he saw was a reception desk with a woman sitting behind it. The woman was typing away on a computer.

Kevin then walked up to the desk and said "excuse me what is this place." The woman looked up and said "sorry no more autographs today. You should have got one from the celebration." "I'm not here for an autograph," Kevin said. "Then what are you here for?" the woman asked.

Kevin then showed her the card. " A man gave this to me. I don't know what this is for." The woman then saw the card in his and took a scanner off the desk. She scanned the card and she saw that it was very real.

She then got up and said " come right this way." THe woman then led him through some glass doors. She then started to show him around the facility. On the tour they passed a blue robot with a screen on the front of its chest, and a man with a mask with 2 prosthetic legs. The robot then turned and said "hi friend!"

Kevin then waved back at the robot. After the tour she said " she said and there is the dining hall." At the word food Kevin's stomach grumbled. "You must be hungry, I'll leave you to it." The woman then walked away.

Kevin then walked into the dining hall. He was getting in line to get some food. A man then walked and stood behind him in line. The man was muttering to himself about getting pork chops? The man saw Kevin in front of him and asked "you new here?" Kevin then turned around to the man.

He had a yellow jumpsuit that had black accents and black combat boots. He had black hair that had brown highlights and a full beard. Kevin then said "yeah I was just getting some food here." "Nice, I'm going to get some pork chops," said the man.

"I heard," said Kevin. " you some of the new staff that's around here." Kevin then showed him the card and said "honestly I don't know yet, I just got this from some guy." The man then saw the card and got really excited. "My names Elliot, but my ring name is mirage," said the man. Kevin then introduced himself.

" you're a new legend," said mirage. Kevin was confused and asked "what's a legend?" Mirage then looked at him confused and asked " how do you not know the legends? Well you sir are looking at one of them, and you're one now too." Kevin then asked " could you jog my memory about the legends." Mirage then went on and explained what the apex games were as they were getting their food. Mirage did indeed get his pork chops. Kevin got a burger and fries.

Mirage then led him back to the table where the robot from earlier was sitting. "Hey Mirage," the robot said. Kevin then said "ohh it's you from earlier." " My name is Pathfinder, What is your name?" said Pathfinder. " My name's Kevin." 'That is a very advanced robot. The AI is amazing,' Kevin thought. Kevin then sat down and started eating then a woman sat down next to mirage. She had black hair and was wearing a purple sweater with black pants.

She had black hair put in a bun with a few bangs in her face. She said "hey elliot". Mirage then said " Hey Renee." Mirage then introduced Renee as wraith. Wraith then asked "So who are you?" Kevin then said " I guess i'm a new legend." " It was nice meeting you all," Kevin said

Kevin then said " I'm going down to the lab" Pathfinder then said "bye friend" Kevin threw out his food and went on his way. As Kevin was walking away Wraith then asked " what do you think he can do?" The screen on Pathfinder showed a confused face on his screen.

Kevin got down to the lab he wanted to see the technology they had. He also wanted to check on the watch. When he got down to the lab there was only one other person in there. It was a blond girl wearing a blue shirt and white jeans with black boots.

Kevin took off the MS watch and started to look over it to make sure it was still in working order. After a few modifications Kevin got up and saw a glass wall that was in the middle of the room. He turned the watch and his whole body went intangible again. He then stuck his hand through the wall.

He then took it out and twisted the watch and took a breath. The blond that was in the room turned around and looked over at the display. She then got up and walked over to Kevin with his back turned towards her. She then said " bonjour, that is pretty cool. How do you do that."

Kevin then turned around and faced her. The woman got a very surprised look on her face. Kevin saw the look and said jokingly "is there something on my face?"

The woman got red in the face and said "no I just recognize you from earlier. You saved me." Kevin's eyes started off then he snapped his fingers. " you were that woman the beam was going to fall on," he said.

The woman then said " I'm Natalie Paquette, you can also call me wattson." Kevin then introduced himself. " How do you do that?" asked Wattson.

Kevin then showed her the watch and said " This watch makes my atoms vibrate at a very high frequency, so that they can slip between the atoms of over things." Wattson was very fascinated. "That is amazing, you're basically invincible while doing that," said Wattson. "Wait if you pass through everything then you would pass through air particles," she deduced.

" yeah when I use it i have to take a breath before using it and I can't do it for very long," Kevin said. Kevin then explained that he was a new legend to the games. Wattson was excited and she explained that she was also a legend in the games. Wattson then bid him a farewell. By the way, Mirage explained the games Kevin needed to expand his arsenal if he was going to make it in the games.

Kevin spent a majority of the night working on things that will help in the games. He also was given a transparent ipad. It announced the next royal was in a few hours and told him to input his name. Kevin then thought for a moment and imputed a new name he would use for the ring.

He chose the name Phantom.

That's another another part done. Next time in the story Kevin will have his first apex game. I will explain his abilities in the next chapter in the match.
