'It is our attitude at the beginning of a difficult task which, more than anything else, will affect its successful outcome.'
Harry entered platform number 9 3-4 (I could not write that symbol on the laptop, so adjust with it) with Mavis perched upon his shoulder, he petted the Raven gently. He had no problem entering the Platform, thanks to McGonagall's guidance. He was wearing a Black T-Shirt, Blue Jeans, Black Trainer, and a White Jacket over his shirt
To say, his past month was interesting, he had taken his Class 5 trunk from the Trunk shop, after paying of course. It had his initials like 'HJP.' The trunk was perfect, it had seven rooms, and after paying extra money for utensils, all the things had been adjusted cleanly without a mess.
He had read the whole First Year Magical Course, but for the core subjects, he had finished through half of the Third Year He had magically practiced the study course too. Since the ministry did not catch trace on the Trunk, he was free to use magic. He also tried to use Magic in Leaky Cauldron, using a locking charm, Colloportus. But no letter came means his Wand had no trace, which he was excited for.
He had also started the book on 'Ancient Runes.' Apparently, the Magical spells were made using this and Arithmancy which he had purchased after reading the mention in the book, he went to the Book store often, which lead to getting him and the Book Store Manager getting acquainted.
She told him that he could buy books by sending an Owl, or Mavis, and they would provide the books which he would ask for via Owl, and money could be sent by Owl too. From that day, his tension of buying books during the School Year decreased.
He learned Occlumency very easily and was able to finish the First Book, by the end of the 10th day, after he had finished the book, he decided to give a halt to Occlumency training but would restart it, when he would reach Hogwarts.
Occlumency helped him to learn the thesis faster than usual. Another good point of learning the art. As he read the book through and through, he got to know, that Occlumency was based on imagination, and how good defenses you could make.
There was also something called 'Guardian Summoning,' but it was on the introduction page of Book 2, so ignored it for now. The Guardians were like mental entities, which guard your mind, we could make any living thing your Guardians.
Its counterpart Legilimency, he had ignored it till now, he was focusing on Occlumency, he would have some strong shields first, then attack the Opponent.
His mental barrier was a Mirror Room, it was a Castle made up of Mirrors, and the memories were hidden somewhere there. The whole defense was design in a way, that only Harry would be able to go and find the memories from his mind, at least he hoped so!
There were also Mind Battles. Mind Battles was something when a Legilimens attacked an Occlumens. As far as he had read in the book, it could be few seconds in the real world but hours when the two fought.
He also started to learn 'Magical Languages other than Runes,' he got to know that the Runes are not the only Magical Languages.
He had read about the Boy Who Lived, Neville Longbottom, who had killed a dragon at the age of 3. That only book, he had purchased about Neville Longbottom. He even went to the Book Store asking if the book could get changed, but couldn't be changed much to his disappointment
He had also read about the Wizarding Traditions and meetings. He learned the meaning of the Ancient Houses, Noble Houses, and Both Ancient and Noble Houses. Then there was one term 'Blood Supremacy.'
His heart filled with envy and jealously, as he watched many people hug their child who was departing for Hogwarts. Mavis, understanding the scene, cawed and flapped his wings to cheer up his master. He chuckled at that effort.
Shooking his head, he moved to enter the Train, as he walked at the platform, he noticed some people who were also saying their goodbyes, but formally. They were wearing lavish robes, they looked at him, they examined him very quickly, but after that their glance was turned into a glare.
Yes, these types of people believed in 'Blood Supremacy.' He did not comment on that just passed away. Blood Supermacy was something which was started by Purebloods, someone whose parents are Purebloods.
The Pureblood claimed that their whole lineage was Magical. But this was an idiotic belief, after all, everything starts from somewhere, and if you trace down to their Family Chart, you would get to know that their first, second, and several generations were filled with half-bloods and Muggleborns!
If they kept practicing Blood Supermacy, their lines lead to eventual extinction. The inbreeding started to cause several issues, mainly the Squip borns, they even refuse to acknowledge their sheer presence.
The half of Wizarding Population were half-bloods, and if they did not acknowledge them, and Muggleborns, they would die with their lines!
Sighing, he walked to the train, he shook his head, dispersing these thoughts, he entered the train and used the Levitation Charm, Wingardium Leviosa, non-verbally he levitated his trunk, and moved inside.
He entered a free compartment, where no one was sitting, and just adjusted his trunk whilst Mavis sat on one seat, when he took a seat, she again changed her place, and sat upon his shoulder. He cast the locking charm in the Compartment to ignore disturbance.
He took out the Potion Book of third years and began reading it because he needed something to pass his time.
Harry Potter was meditating at the time. He was in a study room that had Baby Blue colored Walls. The bookcases were lined up surrounding a single but large study desk.
The Room had slight Italian touch in them, the most line was given from the candles which were placed upon the bookshelves, the was a large Chandeliers on the ceiling just above the Study Table.
Harry found himself on a rather cushioned chair, with a cup of tea. His feet were relaxing on the footrest present in front of him. He took a sip of the tea from the cup.
He was currently in his Magical Core, the real one, not that fake ones. He had created twelve fake Magical Rooms, and this was the thirteenth but the real one. This was the place where one could extract memories from his brain.
Each book here contained some of his memories, there was no particular guide for a memory, so you would have to visit each if you want one.
He had created a Mirror Room as his mental defense, he was not able to visit any but was able to watch the example of one, when the Television in Orphanage was used that was hardly in his control, but with the help of some books, he was able to imagine it.
When you would enter it, you would find yourself in a small room surrounded by thirteen Mirror, which was doors, it would get pushed if you push with some force, of course.
As you would push these doors, you would enter a new room, the replica of the previous but the previous room was different and this one was different.
Each room had its trap, in some, you would fall into the hole, some would have needles embedded on the walls, in some oxygen would be taken out. Each one of them had some nasty trap.
No trap was ever repeated, each one had his schemes. These traps were set in a way that would never harm Harry, Harry used all of his imagination to build this.
He still needed to summon a Guardian which he was thinking any magical creature or an Unkindness Of Ravens. He was also thinking of adding a new design to it, which would make his shield formidable.
He was also looking for some peculiar examples, or meet someone who knew this art, too, so he could take a clue from them.
He was interrupted from his thoughts when he heard a soft knock on the door of his compartment. As Harry retrieved himself from his mind, his gaze fell upon the beautiful girl standing outside the compartment!
She knocked again, he looked at her and took out his wand, and opened the door. She still had a trunk in her hand and was looking at him.
She had a little curly chocolate brown hair, icy-blue eyes, high cheekbones. She had pale skin and was very beautiful. She certainly had a curvaceous figure, even for her age. She looked slightly shorter than him, an inch like. She was also wearing some elegant robes which told him that she belonged to a well-off family.
"Excuse me," She spoke as he opened the door, "Can I sit here?" She asked him politely, she had an elegant, and soft voice.
Since Harry was reading his book, he just inclined his head a little, she entered the compartment, settled her trunk, and sat in front of him, after a few moments of eerie silence, Harry was completed with his topic.
"I am sorry," He apologized, "I was reading the book." He said whilst ruffling his hairs.
The girl in front of him brushed it off, "Don't be!" She exclaimed with a giggle, "I also get lost in a book when I read it." She grinned at him. He grinned back at her.
She started again, "Let's start it from the start," She continued, "I am Ashley Ashford, heiress apparent of the Most Ancient and Noble House Of Ashford." She described him, as she extended her hand.
Harry kissed her knuckles, as he processed the information. Ashford's, a neutral family, unbiased in judgment, One of the Sacred Twenty-Eight, replaced in the place of Ollivanders. Ashford's had produced brilliant Potion Mister and Mistress, and hold power in Wizengamot too.
He was snapped out of his thoughts by the Blue-eyed girl, "And you?" She asked him, with a hint of confusion.
"I am Harry Potter, heir apparent of the Most Ancient And Noble House Of Potter." He introduced himself with a bow.
She bowed at him, "Well met, Heir Potter."
Harry chuckled at her behavior, he then told, "You know, you can just call me Harry, these Wizarding Traditions kinda do suck."
She giggled, "Yes they do, Harry." She answered.
"Enough, talking about me," Harry replied, "Are you looking forward to Hogwarts?" He asked her
The girl nodded, "I am, I am expecting to be sorted into either Ravenclaw or Slytherin, what about you?"
Harry shrugged at her words, "Don't have any preferences, though I have heard at the aforementioned give their own rooms. So I am hoping that I could get sorted in those two."
She was about to say something, when Mavis came from her flight, perched upon the window, and cawed, "Wooh, what was that?" She asked pointing to the bird.
"This is a Raven," Harry said dryly, Ashley blushed at it, Harry continued, "But this raven is my familiar, its name is Mavis."
"Oh, Can I touch her?" She questioned, somewhat uncertainly, "It is not a problem, but she bites everyone who comes near her, so be careful."
Mavis sat on Harry's hand, Harry took her near to Ashley, her hand came near Mavis. Mavis looked skeptical, figuring out if there was any foul play, but after some observation, she let her. Ashley traced her finger through the Raven, whose fur was extremely soft, she petted the bird gently.
Harry's voice interrupted her, "It is quite weird, she does not let anyone come near her."
Ashley 'Oh'ed' at this, and continued tracing patterns on the bird's feather, her gaze fell upon the book Harry was reading, she stopped petting Mavis which now perched upon Harry's shoulder, "Which book are you reading?" She asked with a frown.
"Oh, this?" He asked pointing towards the book, she nodded answering, he continued, "This is Grade 3, Potions."
"Grade 3?!" She blurted out in surprise, "I have only read Grade 1!" She replied.
Harry frowned, and then shrugged, "Do you want the Grade 2, Potions?" He asked her.
"Do you have it?" She replied.
"I mean, I have a Grade 3 book, so it would be pretty obvious to have Grade 2." He stated mockingly. Ashley blushed at this, soon Harry took out the book, and gave it to her.
She began reading, focusing, "Shall I lock the door?" He asked. She nodded still reading the book. Harry took out his wand, used the Coloportus Charm, and continued his Grade 3 book.
{SCENE BREAK}
Garrick Ollivander was in deep thought, perhaps the deepest he had pleasure meeting with. That thought revolved around the Peculiar Customer which had come to his shop, a month ago, that customer's name was Harry Potter.
In his whole carrier as a Wandmaker, Garrick had never met a person who had tried all his wands and yet could not find a match. When every combination was checked in his shop, he had certainly lost hope for this customer, but then his Raven flew inside the Shop.
She was perched upon the box, which he had been trying not to touch, then he came to the boy back, but it did not go unnoticed by him, that how careful the bird was when she perched upon the box.
He took the wand and placed it in front of Harry Potter.
The boy ignored him and took out the wand from the box, but he was more surprised when the light began to emit from the wand. Never in his wildest dreams, he had thought that there would be a match for that wand.
He still remembered it was 1945 few days after the defeat of Gellert Grindlewald, the most feared Dark Lord of that time, when Albus Dumbledore, one of the most important figures, and his reputation sky-rocketed after the defeat of Grindlewald, came to his shop.
It was pretty weird for him to come to shop, but he was in hurry, for some reason. He showed the wand to his father, and his father was wide-eyed. The headmaster took the oath that the Ollivanders would never use this wand, and would only give it to the person, to whom the Wand had sworn its allegiance.
{SCENE BREAK}
Harry was, rather rudely interrupted from his book, (same goes for Ashley) when he heard a loud bang at the door. He waved his wand and opened the door. A bushy-auburn-haired girl came to their view, she was about to speak something when Harry spoke,
"Who the hell are you?" Harry growled, irritated that he was interrupted from his book.
"There is no need to be rude! And you are not allowed to lock the door!" She exclaimed pointing her wand. Harry groaned again, but this time it was Ashley who replied,
"How is he rude, you are the one who barged into our compartment, and are pointing fingers"
The girl huffed a little, "Have you seen a Toad? A Boy named Dean had lost it." She asked them.
"No," They denied in unison. But Harry again pointed out, "Why not go to a Prefect? They can use Summoning Charm. Wait, let me guess, this thought never occurred to you, and you were going to check every compartment for finding the Toad"
The girl blushed, beet red then muttered a 'Thank You,' and went off to find a Prefect.
Harry and Ashley sighed, shook their heads, and resumed their books. It was after some time when they heard a voice calling out that they had reached Hogwarts and, asked them to wear their Uniforms. Harry and Ashley looked at each other.
Blink...
Blink...
Blink...
"I'll go outside," Harry stated, Ashley, nodded appreciatively.
{SCENE BREAK}
Soon, they reached Hogwarts, Ashley introduced him to Megan Jones, one of her best friends, Harry was just acquainted with her. Honestly, he had a problem making friends, Ashley would be one of the few people who he can easily talk to. Megan teased Ashley about her new boyfriend, Ashley blushed at this, whereas Harry found it amusing.
He had set Mavis with his luggage, the bird was reluctant to leave, but did so.
He glanced at Neville Longbottom as the book described him, he was fit, had a little tanned skin, and brown eyes. He had a 'V' scar on his cheek, and according to Harry's observation, the boy was trying to avoid the crowd. He looked quite stiffed. Which gave Harry a feeling, that the boy was not arrogant.
McGonagall then explained about the houses which avoided and she went inside leaving them out.
A Boy with extremely pale skin and blonde skin came near Longbottom, he extended his hand, and introduced himself, "So you are, Neville Longbottom, I am Malfoy. Draco Malfoy."
A boy behind Longbottom sniggered, he had red hairs, with freckles on his skin.
"Think my name funny, do you?"Draco asked, "No need to ask yours. Red hairs, and hand-me-down robes. You must be a Weasley. You'll soon find out that some wizarding families are better than others, Potter. You don't wanna go making friends with the wrong Sort. I can help you there" He described with distaste evident in his voice.
Neville did not shake his hand, though he was pissed off, "I can tell the wrong sort of myself, Thanks," he told. Draco was about to say when McGonagall re-entered, glared at them, and took them in
He avoided the whispering of the other student. Harry glanced around the hall, it had floating candles all around, it had banners of each house hanging too. He looked up and saw stars. Seeing Ashley's and Megan's confused and awed look, "It's an enchanted sky." He explained, whispering.
They both nodded in appreciation. McGonagall walked near an old stool, which had a dusty, old hat, the whole hall fell silent as all of them looked at the hat.
Harry looked a little bored but was wide-eyed when the Hat started to sing, but then again it was Wizarding World.
"Oh, you may not think I'm pretty,
But don't judge on what you see,
I'll eat myself if you can find
A smarter hat than me.
You can keep your bowlers black,
Your top hats sleek and tall,
For I'm the Hogwarts Sorting Hat
And I can cap them all.
There's nothing hidden in your head
The Sorting Hat can't see,
So try me on and I will tell you
Where you ought to be.
You might belong in Gryffindor,
Where dwell the brave at heart,
Their daring, nerve, and chivalry
Set Gryffindors apart;
You might belong in Hufflepuff,
Where they are just and loyal,
Those patient Hufflepuffs are true
And unafraid of toil;
Or yet in wise old Ravenclaw,
if you have a ready mind,
Where those of wit and learning,
Will always find their kind;
Or perhaps in Slytherin
You'll make your real friends,
Those cunning folks use any means
To achieve their ends.
So put me on! Don't be afraid!
And don't get in a flap!
You're in safe hands (though I have none)
For I'm a Thinking Cap!"
Harry was fascinated along with Ashley and Megan with the Hat, though it sounded more like a poem than a song. Soon, the sorting began with a girl named Hannah Abbot, who got sorted into Hufflepuff. McGonagall then called Ashley's name, she was sorted in Ravenclaw, he politely clapped for her, Susan Bones who was sorted after her went to Hufflepuff
He ignored the rest of the sorting though he clapped when Megan went to Hufflepuff. Malfoy went to Slytherin.
Neville Longbottom went to Gryffindor, and the Gryffindor's cheered like 'We Got Longbottom'. The Bushy girl which they had met before, named Hermione Granger went to Gryffindor. The person whose pet she was looking, Dean Thomas, went to Gryffindor.
Soon, McGonagall called out his name, "Harry Potter." Masking himself with an expressionless face, Harry made his way to the stool. He looked at the Staff Table and saw many of the Professors leaned forward, including Headmaster. He also looked at a man with Greasy Black hairs, and bat-like clothes.
He sat upon the stool, a croaky voice spoke, "Hmmm...Interesting, what an interesting Occlumency shields, it had been a while since I have encountered this tough defense."
As the back of Harry's head itched he knew that the voice was speaking in his mind. Harry found himself in his core, he turned around to see who was there, but was surprised when there was himself, or particularly, a copy of him. It was slightly different though, the intruder only had black and white clothes, along with black eyes in place of his own Emerald ones.
"Are there any holes in my defense? And by the way, what's your name?"
The hat let out a small laugh, "It has been a while since someone asked my name. And my name is Alister." Harry nodded at his name, it was quite weird, but then again who was he to comment on its name.
The hat continued, "No, there are no holes as you say, I was enchanted this way, that no Occlumens could hold me. But do come when you are finished with these shields."
The hat again spoke, "Harry, may I call you that?" At his nod, it continued, "There's a big problem, and the problem is that I could not place you any house."
Harry frowned at his statement, "What do you mean?"
"You are brave, very brave, but not reckless, you have no true fear. You are very cunning, but the other trait ambition is empty, you only want to learn magic to kill your boredom, which is not a good reason to place you in Slytherin. Ravenclaw, you are too smart for it, I am afraid it would harm other students by your presence. Hufflepuff is a choice, you are fiercely loyal but only to a few, and currently, your loyalty belongs to your Raven...Mavis, I believe you call her. You have no preference, you truly are odd, Harry."
"Don't sort me," Harry told firmly.
"This can not be done," The hat denied, "I was made for sorting that I must do," The hat said in a tired voice. It was pretty strange to have a conversation, but it was another odd thing that Harry was experiencing from the past month.
They talked for several minutes, and Harry could see that a confused tone, every time the hat spoke. It was like they were having another conversation when the hat had Broad smiled.
It announced, "You truly were an odd person Mister Potter, but you would be the sole member of House PEVERELL!"
Harry avoided others because his eyes were solely fixed on flying Mavis, which perched upon his shoulder. Though, he did notice that chaos followed in the Great Hall.
{SCENE BREAK}
Harry found himself in Headmaster's office, with Mavis perched upon his shoulder. Back at the feast, he sat next to Ashley, all were giving look 'Where the hell did you get sorted?' He shrugged at them and ate his food. McGonagall led him to Headmaster's office, still not over the shock she had experienced.
The headmaster had instructed McGonagall to prepare his room in an empty Classroom, near the Ravenclaw tower.
Albus Dumbledore was considered the greatest Wizard of history by many, not by him, he always had the ideology that there would be someone better than you, always. But the point was proven wrong when Harry found himself seeing the man in Pink robes, with Blue Straps.
The old man's voice was twinkling madly, and his face adopted a grandfatherly smile. His beard hanging which was longer than most first-years, and his face was wrinkly. He could be the definition of something we call 'Old.'
They were playing a staring game, neither backing down, until Harry finally lost it, "Now for fuck's sake, pray to tell me? What the hell is this Peverell house?"
Dumbledore chuckled a bit at his cussing before he pulled out a book named 'The Families Of Old.'
The Old man asked with a smile, "Now before we start this, I am sure you must have many questions, but refrain yourself from interrupting." At his nod, he smiled again.
"The Peverell Family was one of the Oldest families, which can be marked from the Hogwarts' founder era too. Do you know who are founders?" At his nod of agreement, he continued, "There were various rumors about what happened to the family, some consider the line died-out, some considered that Daughters were only left, but my theory is that they changed names." He stated calmly as he looked at the boy.
Harry frowned at Headmaster's theory, "Why would they change names? When they were so old family." He queried.
"The Peverell's produced some of the most powerful, and gifted wizards of that time," He paused for a moment before he continued, "But they were one of the most feared families too. They were the people who warded the Hogwarts Castle. Wards are-"
"I know."
Headmaster looked cryptical before he nodded, Harry frowned, "But you haven't told why they were feared."
Headmaster let out a soft sigh before he turned pages of the book. Finally arriving in somewhat middle of the book, Harry looked at the page which had the heading 'The Peverell's' There was a creature which looked like a boney horse, but had wings.
Then, under it, Harry's eyes darted at the same symbol, which he had seen from the month, same symbols which his heirship ring had. His thoughts broke off when Headmaster spoke again,
"Many people feared Peverell family because there were many legends regarding the family...association with Death is another legend." He let out a small pause before continuing, "In ancient times, Peverell legends were sometimes used to scare children of them is..."
His eyes darted at Mavis, she let out a Caw, before he spoke again, "'Flee the ones with Ravens, both man and bird with eyes of white.' There are several legends regarding them, some say they are true, some say it is just a farce. But I believe that all are true." He explained darkly.
Harry frowned as he looked at the page, sure he had listened to Old Man's speech, but his eyes were solely fixed on the creature and the symbol, as were of Mavis'.
Dumbledore shrugged, "This," he pointed to the Winged-horse, "Is Peverell family sacred creature, a person who had seen death, can only see this."
The twinkling of his stopped when he was about to explain the next symbol, his body expression looked reluctant.
"This, Mister Potter, I would advice you to find later, when you are a bit more mature and older, but this is Peverell's family crest." Headmaster ended explaining, but he noticed that Harry was focused on the image, he frowned, "What is your interest in the...crest?"
Without caring of anything, Harry flashed his Peverell Heirship ring, he noticed the Old Man's widened eyes, he left the room, Mavis giving a soft Caw.
Inside the office, Dumbledore was still comprehending what he had seen! He chuckled again, "Well these years are going to be far more interesting than I have thought them to be...Heir Peverell."
Author's Note- Yup, this ends here, sorry for the late update, I am currently reading a novel named 'The Guardian' by John Grisham. Do try If you like the plot.
I won't write the book's plot here, as this chapter would be unnecessarily long. Google it, read it if you like. Anyways hope you like the chapter.
