"Could you quit pouting please?" Pleadingly, I beg my brother groaning. We leave the market, his hand in mind while the other is shoved into my pocket, brushing against the change. The shopping bag dangles down from my arm.
"I wanted that sketchpad." Huffing, she whines, grumbling under his breath making me roll my eyes, that sketchpad was a scam.
"You have one at home." Tiredly, I remind him.
"But it didn't have a unicorn on it." Childishly, he argues.
"Does that really matter?" Miserably, I groan, having no time for his whinging.
"The unicorn had pens that had glitter on them." Animatedly, his eyes sparkle shining like stars as I feel my eye twitch at the child.
"Seems it would make your designs tacky." Tactfully, I point out smirking slyly at my move.
"What!? No way! Glitter fixes everything!" Resolute, he declares making me scoff.
"Look if you're good I'll see if I can locate dad's sweet jar how about it?" Exasperated, I offer, squeezing his hand.
"Really!?" Excitedly, she grins beaming brightly only then for it to falter as we both turn to the sound of an explosion, my brow furrowing at the huge black smog spewing out from the area across.
"H-Huh what's going on over there?" My ears perk up at the sound of the people gaping rushing over to the scene making me sigh, feeling my brother's fidgeting fingertips tighten around me. Might as well take a look. I pick up Hikaru and make my way over to the scene besides it's on the way home.
"This looks bad maybe we should run…"
"Come on heroes you got this!"
Frowning, we approach the scene. I'm at the back of the crowd seeing numerous people watching as numerous heroes attempt to handle some sludge monster holding hostages of course. My nose twitches at the stench of ash, seeing the flames flickering, hungrily consuming anything in sight.
"Hm? Sir are you alright you don't look very well…" Worried, my brother tugs making me turn to see some blonde stick guy heaving leaning on the light, clutching his chest.
"I…I'm fine…" Heaving, he answers as my eyes narrow at him, my greens meeting his electric blue.
"Then why do you have black eyes?" Bluntly, my brother deadpans making me sigh at my brother's blunt tongue.
"E-Eh?" Surprised, he flinches from his words.
"People have white in theirs why do you have black?" Boisterously, he points to his green eye then his.
"Look, kid…" He begins making me sigh when seeing some stupid brat rush in.
"Hm…Hikaru stay here." Gently, I tell him kneeling passing him the shopping.
"Um okay…" Obediently, he nods his head.
"If that creepy guy tries something you know what to do." I point towards the stick figure.
"Okay!" Chirpily, He smiles saluting me.
"C-Creepy?" Hurt, he stutters out as I give him quite the glare before brushing past them making my way to the front of the crowd.
"Wait what are you…it's too dangerous!" My ears perk up at one of the heroes reaching out to me but I brush him off. I leap over the fencing.
"Save the boy that thing will kill him!" One of the heroes calls out as I see the sludge creature raise its hand to the kid.
"What a pain." Tiredly, I sigh shagging my shoulders, flicking my wrist.
"H-Hey Kid what do you think you're doing? You shouldn't be here." I feel a hand on my shoulder making me arch a brow at some guy made of wood.
"This coming from the guy made of wood in a flame area." I point out shrugging him off as I make my way closer.
"Hahaha, some kid thinks she can defeat me! Hah!" Cackling, the sludge creature laughs at me while I shove my hands into my jacket.
"I don't think I can defeat you." Honestly, I confess taking him and the few others behind me aback.
"E-Eh?" He answers blinking trying to register my words as I hear the crowd behind screech making me groan at the unneeded noise, so loud…
"But I know I can do something. So if you don't mind I'll be taking those kids back now." Politely, I announce to the floor.
"This kid's insane!"
"You little brat! H-Huh?" Roaring, the man screeches.
"Hey, you brats if you can hear me, hold on!" I call out confusing them as I flick my wrist, stretching out the wires coiling around the green-haired boy and impaling into the sludge creature, feeling the wires coil around the kid stuck. I then crouch down, leaping backward, using the momentum to pull them free.
"He did it! He got them out of there!" One of the heroes calls out. I stand, turning to the kids, noting much to my dismay, my jacket ruined making me grumble, my sleeve ripped from the threads used, urgh…I liked this jacket too, great just great…
"Oi, you lot you can actually do something now." Annoyed, I call out to the heroes glancing over at the kids knocked out.
"R-Right!" The heroes charge ready to take it on when….
"Detroit smash!" Shocked, my eyes expand when the next thing I know a huge whirlwind of some sort occurs. Desperate, I dig my fibers into the ground, clinging on, feeling my hair go crazy as the wind subsides finally revealing…of course he's here. Annoyed, I scowl at the sheer sight of the supposed symbol of peace.
"Or nothing at all…eh nothing changes." Frowning, I remove my ruined jacket just as it rains, of bloody course.
"Eh…? It's raining!"
"Don't tell me all that wind just now was…"
"Look at the clouds they're moving."
"Holy crap he changed the weather." One of the hero's whispers.
"Did that really just happen!? He changed the weather with a single punch as if it were nothing!"
"All Might saved the day again he's so amazing!"
"You moron do you have a death wish!?" Loudly, the heroes berate the brat having thrown himself into danger while I simply sigh, guess to the bin this will go.
"There was absolutely no reason for you to put yourself in danger like that!" Scared, the kid bows his head apologizing eh not my problem.
"Man, your tough kid, and that quirk is something else. When you want to go pro head over to my agency first. I'd love for you to be my sidekick while you're training." One of the heroes compliments the other one, the one that got kidnapped as he sits cross-legged, his ruby reds meeting my bored green.
"Eh, my job's done," I mutter, they're breathing, not my problem now. I turn to flip myself over the fencing when…
"W-Wait!" I hear a voice call out confusing me.
"Hm?" I hum turning only to see a hand on my shoulder making me turn to the supposed symbol of peace, the camera's eye trained on us.
"Hey, kid you were great out there. You thought about being a hero? You would save a lot of lives with that quirk of yours!" The hero of peace tells me.
"Hmph." Unimpressed, I shrug him off, brushing him off, earning shocked gasps from the audience making me sigh, hearing many berate me but I brush it off, feeling the camera on me.
"Hikaru we're leaving…" Politely, I tell him as he hums, nuzzling into my side. He returns the bag to me and we leave.
"That man left…" Sadly, he whispers to me.
"Did he touch you?" Scowling, I furrow my brow at the thought.
"No." He answers.
"Then that's okay." Aloofly, I shrug.
"I hope he goes to the hospital…he looked like he was about to have a heart attack." Anxious, he furrows her brow as I feel his small grip tighten on me.
"It's nothing you need concern yourself with Hikaru it's that guy's fault if he doesn't go out to get the treatment he needs. Now come on I'm in the mood for some yakitori." I reveal making him gasps excitedly.
"YAY yakitori! Wait I thought you said we didn't have enough money that's why we couldn't buy that unicorn pad I wanted!" He tugs at my arm making me sweatdrop.
"Yeah…about that." Nervously, I begin, attempting to use my occupied hand with the bag to scratch the back of my neck, smiling strained when feeling the dark dangerous killer intent from my brother as we head home…
"Hikaru! Sayako! Sayako! Are you okay? I saw on the news and…" Anxiously, Dad bursts into the room as Hikaru and I happily eat our food, raising a brow surprised to see dad back so early. We note the tears freely falling down his face.
"Dad welcome home!" Happily, Hikaru greets him, waving at him with her sauce-stained hands, who quickly hugs my brother before putting him back in his seat.
"Ah, dad welcome back…" Casually, I greet him, cleaning up only to blink baffled when he darts over to my side. He lunges over to me, wrapping his arms around me, checking me over, a look of frantic fear in his eyes making Hikaru and I share a look, arching a brow by his bloodshot browns.
"Hikaru! You're okay thank goodness. Sayako are you okay? Let me have a look at you." Urgently, he looks over at me making me sigh at the unneeded concern.
"Dad I'm fine. I didn't fight." Gently, I place my hand on his shoulder as he shakily exhales looking me over regardless.
"I still can't believe you stood up against that slime monster. Do you know how dangerous that was?" Fuming, he demands from me, hands-on-hips.
"I had an inkling." I arch a brow, bemused by his attempt of being strict.
"You're safe thank goodness, are you okay up there? I understand if it was scary if…" He smiles making me sigh as he exhales a huge breath before pointing to his and my head again.
"It's fine dad. Shouldn't I be asking about your day?" Playfully, I point out trying to ease him noting his frantic breath, did he run back? I hope not…
"Sweetie you just DESTROYED a monster you were like bam boom!" Animatedly, my father gushes gesturing to what had occurred making me chuckle amused by his antics.
"Yeah, you looked so cool doing it! You should have seen her dad, she was like boom! Pow!" Giddily, Hikaru adds standing up on his seat, moving up and down, gesturing animatedly making me sigh, shaking my head at my brother's antics.
"You were there!? Oh gosh, oh gosh, oh gosh...Hikaru, I'm looking you over tonight. Oh no, no, no Hikaru please sit down you'll fall. And regardless, as cool as you did look are you sure you're alright?" Quickly, my father rushes over to Hikaru's side settling him down before turning back to me. After taking out to my surprise a fair amount of tissues, an armada even, from his pocket. Huh reminds me of when magicians would pull out of their sleeves, those tied up fabrics…
"I'm fine. There's no need to worry dad…" Gently, I assure him as he attempts to clean up Hikaru.
"R-Right…still what made you go in like that?" Baffled, he questions me while I simply shrug placing the wet plate aside to dry.
"Those heroes couldn't do anything with the hostages, so I got them out of there." Truthfully, I answer
"Still, I saw that tree guy he could have used his roots to save them surely instead of endangering you." Huffing, my father grumbles crossing his arms over his chest. He finishes cleaning up Hikaru to turn to me, leaning against the counter.
"He could have but I doubt he felt like taking the risk with the fire." Fairly, I point out.
"I suppose…still what on earth made you think you could do it?" Baffled, he repeats the question making me sigh.
"Well…I saw what was happening and I saw I could do something, so I took it." Honestly, I confess looking up at the ceiling not really sure I mean I saw how I could help and just did.
"Guess the apple doesn't fall far from the tree." Proudly, my father beams brightly at me making me flinch, my eyes narrowing.
"In what regard?" Icily, I snap making him sigh.
"Sweetheart…" Gently, my father begins.
"Look food's ready. Why don't you sit down and eat?" Civilly, I try to dismiss the topic glancing over at Hikaru noting his grip tightening around her pencil, his head down staring down at his sketchpad.
"Sayako …what did you think of that recommendation letter?" Sighing, my father asks me making my eyes narrow.
"Nothing really. Why would I?" Coolly, I play it off, not wanting to have this talk, not in front of Hikaru.
"Didn't you even open it?" Frowning, he continues prying.
"Why?" Baffled, I furrow my brow at the thought, he knows how I feel about the lot of them.
"Sweetheart you always told me you wanted to be a hero…" Gently, he points out making me scowl.
"When I was a kid…" Curtly, I snap reminding him sharply, slamming the cup to the ground, hearing the brief crack alerting me. I turn to Hikaru, his head bowed down making me sigh. He shouldn't be hearing this, it's been a stressful day.
"Sayako…this is an opportunity you don't want to pass up." Regardless, Dad continues pestering me making my eye twitch as I go over to Hikaru
"Are you done?" Gently, I whisper.
"Y-Yeah…" Shakily, he whispers as I press my lips to his temple, helping him up into my arms.
"Sayako please you have done nothing but give and give to this family. You deserve this time to take, take that chance to be something more, be what you want to be." Tentatively, Dad tells me making me wince, blinking back the tears threatening to fall, my teeth grind together as I feel my blood boil.
"Well, people change I thought you'd know that." Icily, I snap making him wince.
"Look…I won't lie seeing you on screen today terrified me but you…you remained so calm, so confident, so in control I was proud. I even cried! The nurses had to get me some tissues even the man I was treating offered me his handkerchief, but I know you. You shouldn't let one bad experience ruin your dream. You can be better than us than them." Honestly, he confesses making me freeze in my steps, feeling my chest clench, turning to glance behind briefly seeing my father's strained smile, the tears freely falling making me sigh when noting the pride in his eyes.
"You always have been a cry-baby." Softly, I whisper stepping forward reaching out brushing the tears aside as he sniffles, his bright beam of a smile only growing.
"Hey, I'm not lying…I just don't want you to miss this opportunity. You've done so much for us throughout all this…change." Guilty, my father's features falter making my eyes soften noting the pain, the sorrow, the guilt in his eyes making me sigh.
"Dad…" I begin, furrowing my brow.
"Why don't you go up for a bath? It's been a stressful day. I can take care of things down here yeah? Just give it some thought yeah?" Strained, he smiles taking Hikaru from me, reaching out to peck my cheek before leaving me to my thoughts….having no clue what to make of it all only to be answered by my groaning muscles as I go to get that much-needed reward that is a bath.
