Kenshin was in the war, steeped in blood as Battousai. So when Sailor Mars appeared and shot an arrow into him, he believed her to be his end. But this was not death, it was purification.

2. Wandering

"If this one is a Rurouni..." Kenshin said softly. "Should not this one be wandering?"

Rei just laughed. "Do you think you could manage that with your wounds?"

Kenshin tried to laugh but winced in pain.

Rei was there in an instant. "Don't push yourself, Kenshin."

"What exactly did you do to me?" Kenshin asked uncertainly.

"I purified you." Rei repeated.

"What does that mean?" Kenshin pressed.

Rei sighed. "I purified the bloodlust in your heart, Kenshin. But beware, if you should find yourself in battle again, Battousai may resurface. I can stop you if it gets to bad, but—"

"You might get hurt." Kenshin said softly. "This one will not allow that to happen."

Kenshin kissed her cheek. "You are precious to me, that you are, Rei-dono."

Rei blushed. She usually hated men. But try as she might, she could not hate this man.
