(Note: I've decided that I will be including OCs into the story, but I currently have no plans to use them as major characters, only side characters.)

Chapter 2: Hopelessness

Several days had passed since the incident with the sludge villain, in which Midoriya was nearly killed, and had been hospitalized after his life had been saved by All Might. Presently, he was walking along the sidewalk to school, following the same route that he always had, the doctors had finally decided that Izuku, after nearly a week spent in recovery, was ready to leave his hospital bed and return to his life.

Open in his hands, was one of his hero notebooks, specifically, it was the one that had almost been destroyed by Kacchan a few days ago. The part of the notebook that Izuku was currently looking at, were the two pages that All Might scribbled his signature on. Apparently, All Might had taken the liberty of signing it after he had been saved, ordinarily a signature like this would have quickly risen to the very top of his list of prized possessions(as most things on that list were All Might related) but now things were different.

"Why did he have to take up so much space with this thing." was the only thought Izuku had on the matter.

With lifeless eyes he calmly stuffed the notebook inside of his backpack where it would likely remain for the rest of the day, after all he didn't want Kacchan to finish the job he had done to it before.

As soon as Izuku had that thought however, he then questioned as to whether he actually would care if that were to happen, it's not like having it would do him any good, the only reason he had made those notes was because he thought becoming a hero was possible, but now that that belief had been shattered, he didn't know why he hadn't thrown it away already.

Izuku sighed as he stopped walking.

He was now standing before a bridge underpass, the same underpass in which he had been attacked by the sludge villain. It was right here, in this spot that his whole had begun to fall apart, if he had taken a different route home, or walked by this spot a few minutes earlier, or later, how much would be different would his life be right now, it would probably be the same as before, living a lie.

Izuku permitted himself to let out a small chuckle, as he remembered a piece of advice he had heard from somewhere, "Never meet your heroes" if Izuku got anything out of this whole ordeal, it was that he was beginning to have a sound appreciation for what the world had to offer.

Izuku then looked forward, he should probably pick up the pace, lest he be late for school, he wanted to get off these streets and focus his mind on something else. Besides, he was starting to feel like was being watched, he was probably just paranoid though, either that or it was his own sub-conscience judging him.

He then began to pick up his feet again, this time at a slightly faster pace.

In class…

As Izuku arrived at his homeroom class he immediately made straight for his desk, and buried his face in his arms, ignoring the whispers of his classmates, who most certainly were talking about him behind his back. He could almost read their minds when it came to things like this. They were making fun of him for being weak, and bragging about how if they were in Izuku's shoes, they could've kicked that villain's ass despite not even knowing what kind of villain was.

Izuku cautiously took a second to risk a look over in Kacchan's direction, and as was expected he was being glared at. Midoriya was actually getting pretty good at predicting Kacchan's attitude, it was a simple equation really, if he dared to do so much as breathe, then that equaled to getting beat up and harassed.

Over the course of the next hour or so Izuku had spent the class period sitting quietly in his desk, only half-paying attention to the lectures of his teacher. Izuku noticed that several times over the course of the class that Bakugo had been shooting him angry looks, while Kacchan did despite Izuku with a passion, showing this much anger upfront was not a common occurrence, that meant one thing for Izuku, he wouldn't be getting off easy today. Izuku scanned his memory, trying to figure out if he had broken any mirrors lately, he did,'t think that he had ever had a bad luck streak like this before.

"DEKU!" Kacchan shouted vengefully.

Sure enough, as soon as the school bell rang, signalling to the student that class had ended, Bakugo had immediately set off towards Midoriya, knocking him out of his seat with an explosion.

Izuku let out a yelp of pain as his body crashed to the floor, his head spinning.

"WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE!" Kacchan started screaming. "YOU COME BACK HERE, AFTER YOU'RE 15 MINUTES OF FAME OR WHATEVER AND YOU HAVE THE GAUL TO ACT LIKE YOU'RE SOMEHOW ABOVE ME"

"I don't know what you're talking about kacchan! I didn't" Izuku muttered before he was cut off.

But this time he wasn't cut off by Bakugo, but rather he simply stopped trying to explain as it couldn't be more obvious that no matter what Izuku said, his words would be greeted only by deaf ears.

It had only been maybe fifteen seconds since the "fight" started but the other students all gathered around Izuku and Kacchan. They gossiped among themselves mostly but a few students were starting to cheer Kacchan on, and mock Izuku. Even the teacher had taken notice but he didn't care to intervene, and went back to reading his cheap romance novel.

"WHAT'S THIS NOW DEKU! ARE YOU ALL OF THE SUDDEN TOO GOOD TO ANSWER MY GODDAMN QUESTIONS YOU QUIRKLESS LOSER!" Kacchan yelled as tiny explosions went off in his palms.

To this, Izuku simply did not respond, and just kept staring at the floor. There was only one way this would end, with Bakugo beating him up and then walking away. So Izuku, who was not in any way capable of defending himself, was resigned to taking the beating and then simply going home.

Bakugo kept berating Izuku, and his classmates kept cheering Bakugo on, all of which Izuku had tuned out. Until Bakugo had said something that really got under his skin. "WORMS LIKE YOU ARE A WASTE OF OXYGEN, YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF IF THAT VILLAIN KILLED YOU!"

As those words were said, something in Midoriya's head snapped, Katsuki Bakugo had just told him, straight to his face that he was better off dying in the cold dark despair of suffocation, that he didn't matter at all, this was far from the first time Bakugo had said something like that, but this time it was different.

Izuku Midoriya was nearly killed a few days ago, not injured, but KILLED, erased from existence, and here Kacchan was saying something like this. This was the last straw, Izuku was done being the punching bag of this asshole, whose only redeeming quality was his quirk, he was tired of being disposable, he was tired of being WEAK.

With those words still in the air, Midoriya wordlessly stood up tall, curled up the all fingers on his right hand, and he socked Bakugo square in the jaw.

After that the holee room went quiet, the only sound was that of Bakugo falling to the floor with a loud "thunk!".

"MIDORIYA IZUKU! MY OFFICE! NOW!" hearing those words Midoriya turned his head to the doorway, where he saw the figure of Aldera Junior High's principal, who had apparently walked in without anyone noticing.

Before he was hauled off to the principal's office, Izuku took one final look at the people in the room. Every person there, the students, the teacher, even Bakugo, all had their eyes still glued on Izuku. Each and every of them had the same expression plastered to their face, not one of shock, nor surprise, but they all shared a look of absolute fear.

Meanwhile…

In an alleyway, located not far from a certain underpass, four people, all dressed in dark clothing were gathered together discussing a particular matter. The topic of discussion in question was, of course a crime, hence the need for the alleyway, specifically they discussed their plan to commit a crime.

These four individuals were all hired by a mysterious client that they had worked for a couple times before, this time they were hired to perform a kind knaping. Their target was, according to their client "The green haired boy who All Might had heroically saved" the client wanted this done in order to damage All Might's pride, or cause people to lose hope in him, or something like that, none of them had actually cared enough to pay attention to the client's motivations. The money was good and the task was simple, that was good enough for them.

It was easy enough to find the boy's name, all they had to do was look to certain online forums where people with nothing better to do ID'd vitamins of accidents all the time. After they found that, they had managed to get his home address, learned what school he went to, and they had even found out that he was quirkless. Knowing all this they spent that morning tailing him on his way to school, learning the route, and when they had that information, they were ready to ambush him.

"Are you sure this is the route he will be taking back?" asked Technatronic, a white haired man wearing a navy overcoat.

"It probably will be, according to the maps, this is the fastest route between Aldera, and his residence, so I fail to see why he wouldn't, he doesn't seem like the type to remind somewhere any longer than he has to." answered Blitz, a black haired man in a black and yellow hoodie.

"Don't worry about it, you two, we thought up this plan perfectly and our target is unsuspecting of us." said the leader of the group, Cleanse, a man in simple dark street clothes. "Even if he doesn't show up, he'll be back here tomorrow, and we can set up our ambush then."

"Whatever happens, I just hope he can put up some kind of fight, I take no pleasure in cracking weak skulls." muttered Purple Talon, he was the only on in the group who had an inhuman appearance. His neck was overly long and an avian-like head, true to his name he had purple feathers cresting the top of his head in a mohawk-like fashion, and the same kind of feathers along the ends of his arms.

With that exchange of words complete, all they had to do was wait.

After school…

A suspension. A goddamn suspension. That was the punishment Izuku had gotten for the punch that he threw after class. The principal had sent an Email to his mom too, and so now he had to deal with whatever trouble that would bring. It had been years since the last time Izuku had gotten in trouble, so he didn't know exactly what to expect from his mother. Would she sob over her son becoming a delinquent? Or would she yell, and lecture him like the principal had moments prior?

As Izuku was thinking all this, He suddenly stopped dead in his tracks, and looked up. He was right in front of that goddamn bridge again, the same bridge that had changed everything. Suddenly filled with anger he spun to face is right and walked towards a nearby alleyway, taking "Hero Analysis #13" out of his bag.

Stepping into the alleyway he opened the notebook to the page All Might had signed after he had been rescued, he stared at the page for a while, thinking of how it got to this point. Why had he always strived to be a hero in the first place? He could barely even remember, as he thought about it now the desire seemed so childish.

Izuku had had enough, he started to tear all the pages from the notebook, all that his had ever done for him was provide a lifetime worth of torture, and he was sick of it, all of it. From now on he would be the one in control of his own life, not some childish dream.

"TAKE THAT KACCHAN!" Izuku was yelling now, by this point the notebook was little more than sheds and Izuku was stomping the hell out of it with his foot.

"TAKE THAT AND THAT AND THAT AND THAT AND THAT AND THAT AND THAT AND THAT!" he kept repeating himself.

"Well what is this? A brat with anger issues?" said an sinister voice.

Izuku looked up and saw a tall man with thin limbs, an avian head, and purple feathers that ran along his head and arms. Izuku reeled his head back in fear, he didn't want to be attacked again. As the feathers along the man's right arm hardened giving them a blade-like appearance, Izuku began to turn to run away, but as soon as he turned around a speeding baseball bat was all that greeted him right in the forehead. And then, for the second time in a week, everything went black.

Hours later…

Izuku's head was throbbing as he woke up, that was all he could feel in that moment, pain. Izuku tried to search through his trying to remember what happened, Oh, that's right, he had been approached by some villain and then attacked from behind. Izuku took in his surroundings.

"So, you're finally awake kid? I was beginning to worry." said a brown haired man who was hovering inches from Izuku's face.

"W-Who a-are you? W-What am I doing here?" Izuku asked nervously, he didn't want to risk antagonizing this person whoever he was.

"You shouldn't worry about who I am, but for now you can call me Cleanse, and you can consider yourself as our captive." answered the man, in a tone that sounded like a poor attempt at friendliness.

Izuku gulped adler hearing that, not a week ago he had nearly died, and now someone had kidnapped him off of the street. Izuku took in his surroundings, he appeared to be tied to a chair, and he was in what looked to be an abandoned building. The windows all around were boarded up and shards of glass were scattered across the floor, and there were large vats, and metal barrels all around, he guessed that this used to be some kind of chemical factory. Not only that but behind Cleanse there were three other men, including the one with the purple feathers that Izuku had seen before.

"I'm sure you must be afraid, but you can thank All Might for that. After all he's the reason you're here." Cleanse spoke.

Hearing this, Izuku's ears perked up. "What do I have to do with All Might?" Izuku asked, confused.

"Because he saved you, and put your face on TV, and because of that you're now in this mess. Now how do you think people will react when they learn that All MIght put a kid in harm's way?" said Cleanse.

"Well with all that said, you would do well to get a comfortable kid, something tells me that you'll be here a while, so just wait for the heroes to show up and save you like a good boy. Okay." with those final words Cleanse and the other villains took off for the door at one end of the building.

Midorya felt fear and panic rise up in him at the same time. He didn't know what was going to happen to him, was he going to die? Or would All Might come and save him again? He didn't want any of this, he didn't deserve any of this. "I just want to go home." he said quietly as tears began to roll down his cheeks.
