Author's Notes: Hey, thanks for sticking around for chapter 2! Looking for some constructive criticism. This chapter the girls are trying to figure things out. Enjoy!

The girls huddled next to each other and peered through the door front desk of the building had a middle added, graying woman behind it who was sorting through some papers. Mary's helmet had broken during their transport as well as Irey's goggles. Both of their suits were torn and tattered and Irey was still bleeding. They would have to get the woman to let them stay. Well good thing she could act.

Mary decided to assume they were still on earth sixteen and they had just time traveled.

(A flashing cyclone and she lands with a speedster, it's a fair assumption.)

If she remembered correctly during 2020 teen meta-human trafficking was rampant, though the act had just taken a large blowa few years prior, causing League and Outsiders approval to be at an alltime high. Causing some kids even trying to replicate the hero teams with their newfound powers, especially the Outsiders.

They could easily play it off as two teens who decided to replicate the heroes, with her meta-human friend getting hurt, and them needing a place to stay. No one would question it seeing as meta kids usually were runaways, or most thought they were already dead. She just hoped that the owner would be sympathetic enough to let them stay without calling the authorities. Or maybe that wouldn't be so bad…..

She whispered to Irey to play along, reached out and purposefully fumbled with the door handle, causing lots of noise. The two girls limped in and Mary let her expression twist into one of concern. "Excuse me?" She said, letting her voice wobble a bit. "Is anyone here? Please, my friend is hurt!" She wailed.

Irey snickered lowly, Mary kicked her shin.

The woman's eyes widened at the girl's sudden appearance and disheveled state."Oh goodness!" The woman exclaimed. "Here in the chair."

She led them over to the seats lining the wall, Irey slumped down.

"Stay there, I'll call nine-one-one." The woman was obviously freaking out, Mary didn't blame her with all that was going on in her timeline right now. But that was a big no.

"Wait! No please…" Mary pleaded

The woman turns to give an uneasy glance at her and Irey who's looking worse for wear.

"It..it's just.." Alright, you have her attention, now begin to feed her a guilt trip, convince her to let us stay without calling the police just yet.

"We were trying to be like the outsiders you know, she's a meta, but I'm just normal and I tagged along for the fun of it." She let out a nervous laugh. "I… I told her it was a bad idea when we saw the guy… but she didn't listen." Let your breath hitch and words tremble, avoid eye contact, edge closer to Irey in a protective stance and away from the lady.

"We got away and he didn't see our faces or where we went, but we don't have anywhere to go right now, just- please don't call the cops, they'll take her away!" The woman's face was drawn with pity. Alright she's hooked, now sell it.

Mary charged towards the woman and grabbed onto her sleeve. She startled.

"Please! They'll report us or throw us in one of those shelters! C-can you just let us stay until she's a bit better? Then we'll be out of your hair, I promise."

The woman looked uncertain, Mary shifted slightly so the woman could get a better view of her friend's pale, fatigued form. Her face crumpled. Gotcha.

"Ah-alright, alright." She pulled back from the redhead's grasp. "I have a room you girls can use for a bit, a-and I won't call the cops, but just for now, ya hear! She may get worse or sumthin." She murmured.

Mary gave a grateful smile to the woman that was all too real.

"Thank you so much, you're a real lifesaver." She sighed.

"No problem kid." The lady said.

She led them to a room upstairs, handed them the WiFi password and some clothes. (her daughters she said.)

Told them her name was Ariah and she'd be downstairs till one-thirty if they needed anything. Irey took the reigns and mumbled a thank you over her shoulder to which the woman gave a pity filled response.

The girls settled in; Irey stretched out over the bed exhausted, she pawed for the remote and switched to the news station, Whilst Mary pulled up a chair and curled up next to her friend. The younger teen pulled out her holo-glove and began surfing the web for answers.

She found that things were lined up enough that they were likely still on earth sixteen, though of course, they had time traveled. The likeliness of being transported to an alternate timeline had significantly lowered but there was still a possibility.

Mary ran a hand through her hair and sighed. She was an information broker, sure she'd been trained for it, but she really wasn't cut out for the constant field missions she'd been getting lately. Especially not ones that involved time travel, that was a Flash family thing. Need help researching alternate universes? Sure! Need a time machine? Got it done in an hour tops. But being thrown into the past just after, well everything that's happened recently? Nope. Non. La. Na. Absolutely N.O.T. thank you very much.

Irey's tired voice broke through her stupor.

"Hey May, have you found anything yet ?" She questioned.

"Yeah, I have," Mary replied.

Irey propped herself up and leaned back expectantly, as if preparing for a report.

Mary glared at her, Irey gave a sharp grin in return.

Mary sighed, she'd been doing that way too often.

"Looks like we're back we're in 2020, So human induced meta-human trafficking just took it's first major blow in 2018, Black Lightning is leading the league," Irey's eyebrows crawled to her hairline at that one.

"Yeah," May drawled. "That one's a bit weird, but I mean could be worse." Rey hummed in agreement and she continued.

"The Outsiders have recently been formed, members include: Beast boy,"

Irey cackled, "y'know I kind of like that better than Changeling."

Mary threw her a look and her mouth snapped shut. (Though she kinda agreed.)

"Blue beetle, Milagro's big brother, the second Kid Flash," Irey shot her friend a worried look, which Mary dismissed with a flick of her wrist.

"The second Wondergirl, so Cassie, Tara Markov aka Terra, El Dorado…"

"Oh the TP guy that works with meta-kids! Irey interrupted," Mary just rolled her eyes though her lips twitched as she continued.

"Forager, the really nice alien bug guy," she explained, cutting off an interruption.

"Cyborg, Static, and the First Superboy. Irey sucked in a breath.

"So Cameron's Dad too?"

"Yeah," Mary grimaced.

"And those are just the public members of the team." Mary began, "There's also our parents, Uncle Tim and Dames, Aunt Steph and Aunt Cass, Cissie, Irey looked down at that. "Halo, Thirteen and probably others."

Irey grumbled. "Yeah, the team is the most likely to investigate our energy signature, but we still don't know if we'll have to interact with the Outlaws, Justice League, JL Dark, or if any of them will help before chucking us in some containment facility." She began to speak faster, her words slurring together slightly.

"Plus we have to make sure we don't crash the timestream, whichisgoingtobehard ifBartrecognizesyou!" She rushes, flailing her arms, then wincing at the movement.

"Ugh, this is so moded. Irey wined."

"Total disaster, heavy on the dis." She agreed.

"So then what are we gonna do?"

"Ariah is eventually gonna have to get rid of us, but we'll probably be dragged off by the team before anyone calls the cops." Rey says.

Mary chewed on her nail in thought, "you can't time travel right now right?" She asked.

"Not without anything going wrong or anyone noticing," Irey replied evenly.

Mary sighed. "Well I suppose if we were taken to the Meta-Teen shelter we would gain access to S.T.A.R Labs equipment, probably easier access to Justice League servers and it would be easier to blend in."

"But you're not a meta," Rey interjected. "Wouldn't they just take you to the police?"

"If someone from the police finds us yes."

"But if it's someone from the team, they'll probably put in a good word and at least let us stay together for one reason or another. Especially since it'll be hard to find any guardians of mine," she grinned.

"So once we find out where the time travel equipment is, we can try and enlist the help of the League or team, and hopefully steer suspicions away from ourselves long enough to get home without everyone feeling the mode."

"So basically stay away from the Bats, Arrows and Flashes… yeah, that'll go so well." Irey deadpanned.

Mary shifted, rubbed her temple and blinked hard; her eyes snapping guiltily to the floor.

"It's really all we got." she replied, her voice faltering slightly.

Irey scrutinized her with a sharp, emerald, trained eyes, and Mary tried not to squirm. She'd be lying if she said that this wasn't risky, or that she wasn't afraid of the possible outcomes, but she was the granddaughter of Batman for crying out loud. She was supposed to be the one who had it all together, yet here she was fretting over all the dark possibilities of this venture. She sucked in a breath. She could patch herself up long enough to make it through this. She just hoped that this wouldn't end in a repeat of that day and Irey would still be with her, that she wouldn't have to see that again.

Irey held her gaze with sad, understanding eyes, then grasped Mary's hands in her own, and began rubbing circles on her wrist.

It felt good.

"Ok then," Irey said somberly "so…. What kinda asterous codenames are we using?" She said using the same tone.

Mary spluttered, then it turned into a giggle.

"Likely something close to our real names," she said smiling slightly. "Though we'll have to change our last names."

"So what are the names in this timeline huh? Irey asked as she pressed a finger to her chin. "Retro stuff like, Smith, Duggar, Archibald?" she asked with a goofy grin.

"What?!"

The two redheads continued going through names, and the possibilities of the morning plight, till they fell asleep curled up next to each other.

They would worry about tomorrow, tomorrow.

Though Mary hoped they would find a safe way back, for both their sakes.

As well as the sake of everyone back home.

Her parents would start to worry.

Author's Notes: So if it wasn't clear,

Cameron Kent aka Superboy III | son of Sentinel and Miss Martian. I kinda like joking about the fact that his kryptonian name would be Cam El, or something like that. ;)

They mentioned Milagro Reyes because in their time she is a green lantern and their occasional den mother.
Let me know if there are any grammar or spelling mistakes and I'll be sure to fix them.

Next chapter we're getting the outsiders P.O.V but I'm kinda struggling with how I should finish it, so that one could take a bit.

I cross-post on

Tysm for reading, until next time!
