Disclaimer: I do not own Sailor Moon and I never will, but at least I can write fanfiction about it! :)
Author's Note: Thank you so much for the kind reviews for this story! I'm happy you loved it as much as I did writing it! I won't say much except to enjoy the new chapter!
The moment she opened her eyes, Mizuki knew something was off.
She was still on Earth, but she wasn't standing where she had been. The only thing that wasn't different was the fact she still wore her night gown.
Mizuki was lucky no one had been around her, or else that would be an absolute nightmare.
Looking around it looked like she was in a park as her eyes tried to find a sign to know exactly where she was. It had been easy to find.
Her eyes couldn't help but widen, seeing it was the park her parents had their first date at. She had never been there before as the park had been torn down, replaced by a shopping mall. Mizuki was smart enough to know she wasn't in her world anymore.
"Whoa, the silver crystal worked…" she breathed, glancing down at her hands where the stone had been before it had broken into pieces before her eyes. Was the crystal really gone? Her bottom lip started to tremble a bit as she started to tear up a little. This was all her fault…her parents were going to be mad at her…this was the exact reason why she hadn't wanted to be the one who had to protect it. She knew she would mess up and she did!
If there was a way to go back to her world, Mizuki didn't want to go back. She couldn't face the disappointment on her parent's faces, for failing to protect the silver crystal.
But what was she going to do now? She could try and search for her parents of this world. However, that would be a bad idea, because if the silver crystal worked as it obviously did, then her parents here wouldn't even know who she was, and Mizuki didn't know if she could handle that.
She rolled her eyes to herself. Man, she didn't think this through at all. Now, who did that remind her of? Oh yeah, her father.
She was already here, though, so there was nothing to be done. She was stuck.
Mizuki started to wander around aimlessly. It was dark and cold, making her shiver and wrap her arms around herself tightly, rubbing each of her forehead with her hands to warm them up. Being in a nightgown when it was this cold was a really bad idea, but she hadn't known it was going to be this cold in the world she had been sent to.
She shivered as she walked and walked until she was in a neighborhood, one which was vaguely familiar. It wasn't until she stood in front of house that she realized where she had walked to.
Her mother's parent's house.
Mizuki didn't know how or why her feet brought her to this specific place, but here she was, and she had no idea what to do about it. If she knocked on the door, she would have to explain why a girl of only fourteen was walking aimlessly around the neighborhood. The gush of wind made the decision for her. Mizuki hurried to the front door, and knocked on it. She didn't know if anyone was up, but she was too cold to even care. Wrapping her arms around herself again, she waited for someone to answer the door.
She didn't have to wait for long as the door finally opened, revealing the sweet and young face of her grandma.
Ikuko Tsukino.
Mizuki hadn't known what to expect when someone opened the door, but it certainly wasn't the gasp coming out of her mouth and the out of nowhere hug.
She tensed immediately, having no idea, for the life of her why Ikuko reacted this way. She wasn't even supposed to exist in this world, right?
"Thank goodness your okay!" Ikuko cried, tightening the hug as if her life depended on it. Then she pulled back and scolded her, "What the heck were you thinking, Mizuki, running away? That isn't like you at all!"
"I…" Mizuki was lost for words but managed to mutter, "I'm sorry."
The look on her grandma's face softened. "Apology accepted, but don't you EVER do that again." She sternly told her, as a mother would.
Was that it? Was that who she was in this world? Ikuko's daughter? Her mother's sister?
Mizuki's mind was in a whirlwind now and honestly, she couldn't help but faint right on the spot.
When she woke up this time, she was under the covers of a soft, warm bed. Mizuki couldn't help but snuggle into the bed even further. It felt like heaven. Being in a bed was her happy place to say the least. It wasn't long until she could feel someone staring at her and noticed a scent that was all too familiar.
Mother…
Her eyes opened, and found her eyes meeting the same color as her own. It was her mother alright. Her mother had always been a vision, even in her old age, but looking at the young, innocent face of the person her mother had once been, it was strange…but it felt right.
Of course, the gaze she was met with wasn't one of love and affection, but one of suspicion.
Mizuki gulped. The look was one she had gotten before when she was caught doing something wrong, and it was just as uncomfortable, even coming from the younger version of her mother.
"Who are you?" Usagi asked, pursing her lips. To see her mom trying to be serious almost made Mizuki smile as she knew that her mother was any but serious at this age. The blonde looked to be sixteen years old, and Mizuki wondered if she had started high school yet, as that was where her mother had met her father at. Maybe they were even already together. Mizuki seriously hoped they were. She couldn't wrap her head around the idea her parents weren't together in this world.
Her thoughts were broken when she saw a hand being waved in her face.
"Hello? Are you okay?" Mizuki heard the concern Usagi's voice and her heart swelled.
"I…yeah, I'm fine. Sorry…" She finally said, and Usagi nodded.
"Good…now are you gonna answer my question? Who are you?"
Mizuki didn't really want to respond to her mother's question. What exactly would she tell her? Not the truth. That would be crazy. So instead, Mizuki decided to just lie and pretend that who Ikuko thought she was, was who she was.
"I'm your sister, silly." She told her cheerfully. "It's kind of rude you don't know your own sister." Her eyes rolled playfully as she poked Usagi in the forehead. "But I guess it shouldn't be too much of a surprise. You were always such a ditz."
"I am not!" Usagi fumed, a full blown pout on her lips. Her reaction was so Mizuki. She wondered what other similarities she would find between her and the young version of her mother. Same went for her father, whenever she ran into him. "That's so mean! You should treat your sister better!" Well, looked like her mother believed her lie, at least for now.
"You're right, I'm sorry." Mizuki apologized, hiding a full blown smile. Her mother was amusing, which thankfully hadn't changed from the mother she knew in her world.
Usagi pursed her lips again before turning and tilting her head up. "Fiiine. Apology accepted." She accepted grudgingly.
"Good." Mizuki let out a giggle, finally allowing a smile to appear on her lips.
Usagi stared at her for a moment as she reached a hand up to tug on one of her pigtails and eyed the buns on top of her head. "You stole my hairstyle."
"No, you stole mine." Mizuki teased, only to make her mother pout again.
Her mother stood up to her feet. "I don't have to be here for this abuse!" She exclaimed, before leaving the room.
Mizuki shook her head, staring at the spot where her mother once was. That went a lot better than she thought it would, and it didn't hurt to know that her mother didn't recognize her as the daughter she hadn't had. Maybe being here wasn't going to be so bad.
Or at least she was going to try and make sure it wasn't.
Mizuki let herself sink into the bed again, closing her eyes, finally realizing how exhausted she was. She fell asleep easily and soundly.
Apparently, Mizuki was going to be going to high school. It had been a shock when Ikuko told her the next morning. She wasn't even old enough to go to high school, but apparently she had skipped a few grades to be in the same year as Usagi. She passed the high school entrance exam with flying colors. Mizuki had always been smart but she never went to school. She was a princess in her world, all she ever went to was princess lessons, so knowing she was going to be going to school, was nerve racking.
At least Usagi would be there, as well her mother's friends. Mizuki's unofficially aunts.
In her world, they weren't around much, busy doing other things, like protecting Crystal Tokyo, but Mizuki loved them so much, so it was exciting she was going to spending time with them in this world.
She was actually going to meet them today, which she was nervous about. She knew it was going to rouse suspicion between the group if Usagi's reaction from yesterday was anything to go by, the blonde never had a sister and now one came from out the blue. Mizuki still planned on going with that lie but she was afraid the rest of the girls would see right through her, especially Aunt Rei.
However, Mizuki tried to tell herself it was going to be alright and if she said it enough, maybe it would be.
They were late, of course.
"You made us late!" Usagi whined as they ran down the sidewalk.
"Me?! You were in the one who decided to sleep through your alarm!" Mizuki accused.
"Well, you should have woken me up!" Usagi huffed.
Mizuki groaned out loud. It was strange bickering with her mother of all people, but it was nice to have a connection with her mom, even if her mom didn't know she was her daughter.
"Whatever!" Mizuki grunted, giving up on arguing with her as she knew it wasn't going to stop unless one of them did and it had to be her.
With how fast they were running, they made it to the Fruits Parlor Crown quickly, bursting through the doors at the same time. Usagi hurried over to the table where the group was while Mizuki hung back, hesitating on even going over there. She slowly made her way over, overhearing Aunt Rei scolding her mother for being late.
"When are you going to learn not to be late?"
"It wasn't my fault, this time, Rei!" Usagi whined, stomping her foot once before sliding into the booth next to her friend. "Blame Mizuki!"
Her aunts shared confused looks, then looked back at Usagi, speaking in unison, "Who?"
"My sister…or who she and my mom says she is…" The last part was said in a whisper but Mizuki was close enough to hear it, making her wince.
Well crap, just her luck Usagi didn't believe the lie. Mizuki should have known.
She pretended that she hadn't heard what her mother said as she finally went up to their table. "Um…hi…" she greeted awkwardly.
They eyed her, especially Rei as they took in her appearance. Her eyes met each of theirs and they seemed to relax under her gaze, making Mizuki wonder why. Did they see something that reminded them of Usagi. She didn't know what else it could be.
"Hi!" They chorused in unison.
Mizuki relaxed in relief, taking that as they weren't suspicious anymore, but she knew better as they were probably going to discuss her with each other once she wasn't in the scene. However, she decided to brush that off and get to know her aunts again.
They talked with each other, and Mizuki felt more comfortable as time went on. It was just the six of them for a while until someone else showed up. Mizuki didn't recognize him at first.
It was Mamoru Chiba, her mother's old boyfriend. Her mother never said to much about the man she dated before her father, but that he was her first love and someone who she was destined to be with before she changed destiny by choosing her father instead. From what her mother told her, he took it better than she thought he would, but all Mamoru wanted was for her to be happy, even if it wasn't with him. If it weren't for that, Mizuki wouldn't exist. So, she had to be thankful for him for that.
It was curious why he was here, though. That question was answer quick enough as Usagi jumped out of her seat and threw herself at him.
"Mamo!" she cheered, hugging him tightly.
He laughed, and then…Mizuki had to watch in horror as her mother leaned up and kissed him!

Chapter Three
I know another cliffhanger! Sorry! But I couldn't help but stop it here hehe. ;) I love cliffhanger though so except a good amount of them.
I know the chapters are kind of on the short side, compared to Changes, but that'll change once we get into the series as at first, the story takes place after the first half of the fifth season and before the start of Sailor Stars. :) Anyway, tell me what you thought of the chapter! I hope you loved it as much as the first one! Until next time! :D
