Shee was walking home that night, his mind drifting away to their conversation, and waves of emotions hitting him.
His father was an Uchiha...and not just any Uchiha, the same as Itachi and Sasuke's.
Shee felt utterly disgusted about this knowledge, and wanted to get home fast to shower, as if the water could wash away the connection he had through blood.
It was so alien
The only blood relation he valued until now was with his mother, and that was enough. Because of the lack of clans or family names in Kumo, Shee felt weirded out to think, if the circumstances were different, he would've grown up in Konohagakure, amongst the Uchihas.
No, that wasn't right
Not just because his stomach flipped at the thought of that, but also because of the inbreeding.
From the Hyuga Hinata case, he remembered that clans with Kekkei Genkai often opted to inbreed to keep the techniques in. In fact, Shee would've been the best example of why the clans don't breed out, he didn't inherited the Sharingan after all, and those people weren't treated nicely. Heck, Hyuga Hinata was beaten up because of her weakness, how would they treat a child without the kekkei genkai?
Shee suddenly remembered something he read in a scroll about the Uchihas a couple of months ago.
It was about their curse, that they loved so intently, the world should be afraid.
Shee right now hated that too
How could they even say, that that hell of a clan is based on love? When they don't cause anything else but death and suffering? Uchiha Itachi killed his entire clan in one night, Uchiha Sasuke swore to kill the whole world, for some reason, and Uchiha Fugaku, his father, left Oteire, after he promised love and affection! What kind of twisted love is this? That they think the whole world and everyone is accountable if they lose it?
They were living in a shinobi world, filled with death, what the hell did that clan think? That they are that special?
And I'm related to them
This thought came in hauntingly and Shee almost started to laugh about it.
It was just so absurd.
He, a half Uchiha?
Shee couldn't help it, and burst out laughing on the dark street.
Shee met Darui a couple of days later for dinner.
They had worked everyday, but didn't have much time to talk about personal things.
While Shee picked up his spoon to taste the curry, he asked
"Have you ever thought about your father?"
"Not much. Mother told me, but I don't really care." he said, looking at his noodle with a blank expression
"You now it?" Shee asked
"Yeah"
"How come you never told me?" he asked, turning to him
"I thought it's not important" he said, resting his chin and his palm "I guess you found out yours too" he said, looking back at Shee
"Yeah...who is yours?" he asked, turning back to his dinner
"Someone called Hatake"
"The copy nin? Wait, can't be, he is too young"
"Probably a family member of his" said Darui, nonchalantly "I guess yours is shocking" he said, still dully
"You can say it that way" he tailed off
"Look, I get you want to get it off your shoulders, but you do know that it doesn't change anything, right?" he asked, with a raised eyebrow
"Of course!" replied back Shee rapidly, and when Darui didn't respond anything, Shee took a deep breath before meeting his eye "It's Uchiha Sasuke's late father" he said, and Darui's face showed something rare, emotions, more precisely surprise, eyes wide open
After a few moments Darui organized his expression again, and turned back to his plate
"Does this bother you?"
"It's more amongst the line of, I don't want to have anything in common with them" he said, suddenly not feeling hungry anymore
"It doesn't change anything" said Darui, and Shee could detect the slight reassuring tone in his voice.
Shee was put under the sensory team, and he was supposed to go tomorrow.
He felt an unrest fullness in him, this was the first war he has ever been in, and the stakes were high.
He was packing with shaky hands when he felt another presence before his room
"Just come in" he said a bit more loudly, and turned back to his bag when Oteire opened the door.
"Come out to eat, I made dinner" said the woman, and before Shee could raise his eyebrow in question, he heard the sound of the microwave. So she brought dinner
Shee got up and followed his mother to the kitchen, smelling the rice and beef stew, and he started to take out plates and chopsticks.
"I heard you've been put under the sensory division"
"Yeah" he said, picking up a piece of meat. He knew that Oteire was ordered to stay in Kumo until further notice, probably to still have some people at the hospital.
"Shee" he felt his mom's light tough on his knuckles, and when he looked up, he saw her warm smile "Be very careful" she said, squeezing his hand, which he returned
"I will, you also"
"Who is the child between us?" she asked with a giggle, and Shee couldn't help but let out a smile
"Would an adult nag Karui and Omoi about a description of Haruno Sakura?"
"Of course, that's my job" she said, between laughs.
On the way to the division, Shee's thoughts circled back to the Uchihas and his relation with them. Darui was right in many ways, this doesn't change anything, yet Shee felt strange just thinking about it, that he could be related to such maniacs.
In Kumo, normally people didn't associate mental illnesses to blood relations, but there were some patterns in some cases that Shee just couldn't ignore.
What if he has it in him to become something like that? That driven by madness and power hunger. Could he even remain the same Shee?
From his memory, he deduced that Haruno Sakura had deep feelings for Uchiha Sasuke, which meant he couldn't have been as crazy as he was now. So there was a time when he could've been considered normal, and look at how deep he'd fallen.
No
Shee didn't want an end like that.
