Hello again! This is Tatertwig45! I hope you all are enjoying my story. I have so much planned its actually kinda overwhelming. This is the last chapter of the flashback before I get to the present day. The basic premise of the original Cinderella story is what my work is based off of, but everything else is my original thoughts and ideas. Bonnie and her mother are not prepared for what Kol has planned and I've also made Katherine a little shit because that's what she is in the series.

I appreciate reviews and constructive criticism on any and all my works. It really helps with my writing. Anywhoo, on with the story!

Disclaimer: I don't own The Vampire Diaries or Originals characters or location names. They all belong to the CW and Julie Plec.

Chapter Two

"Well aren't you girls just having fun, hmm?" a feminine voice inquired from above the three girls who were currently playing with their dolls on the floor. Bonnie stopped playing only to turn around and see her mother standing to the side with Kol next to her.

No matter what happened before with Katherine, Bonnie still thought Kol was very strange. She couldn't explain how but there was something off about him.

Caroline interrupted Bonnie's musings by jumping up from where she was seated. She giggled excitedly, holding her doll in her arms. "Miss lady! Papa bought this for me when he got back from one of his trips. Isn't she pretty?"

Both adults chuckled at her antics. Bonnie's mother came closer to the doll, reaching out to rub her fingers through its blonde hair. "Its very beautiful Caroline. I'm sure your Papa thought of you when he bought it. You even look just alike!" she gasped

Her statement caused Caroline to squeal and turn red as she covered her face with her doll. "You mean it? I'm pretty like her?!"

That had Katherine rolling her eyes, only to look up and see Kol giving her a disapproving look.

Bonnie's mother knelt down in front of Caroline, giving the excited five-year old a warm smile. "I'm sure. Now my little girl, Bonnie, got her doll from her father before he went away. She carries her everywhere she goes. Even outside."

Caroline was entranced. The thought of taking the toy outside appealed to her since she and Katherine weren't allowed to at home. Their father didn't want their dolls to get broken or dirty.

The porcelain figurines that were held by the sisters were explicitly crafted to match each girl, including the many outfits they had. Right now the dolls were wearing the exact same dresses and hats or bows Katherine and Caroline were dressed in. They were also incredibly expensive.

Turning to gaze up at Kol, Caroline put on her best pleading face, batting her eyes. "Please Papa? Can I take my dolly outside when we get home? Bonnie's goes on adventures and everything! Please, please, pleeaasseee?"

Hearing how adorable his daughter sounded, the vampire chuckled and ran his fingers through Caroline's hair. "We will talk about it later, darling. But…"

Kol crouched down to level with her, looking Caroline straight in the eye as he held a finger up. "There will be no more taking them outside if One: They get dirty or broken. Or Two: If they are lost. Understood?" he raised his eyebrows, tapping his daughter on the nose playfully.

This made Caroline scrunch her face and giggle. Leaping into her father's arms, she hugged him tight with him returning it. "Thank you Papa! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!"

Kissing the top of the little vampire's head after he let her go, Kol smiled fondly. Glancing over to the side, he spied Bonnie's mother almost about to tear up at his display of affection.

Perfect.

It seemed as though she was already falling for him. This was making his plan too easy! Kol could almost hear wedding bells now!

He shook his head dismissing the fantasy. Becoming too eager would prove to be a fatal flaw in his plan. Sitting back and waiting would set him on the correct course for what he wanted.

No matter how long it took or who Kol had to sacrifice, it would be his!

"My lord?" a soft voice spoke next to him, making the vampire stare down at the little witch tugging on his pants leg.

"Yes, what is it little one?" He hoped the daughter wouldn't interfere. Though she was just a child, no harm to him.

Bonnie gazed up at Kol, her eyebrows furrowed and a small frown on her face. She would tolerate him for now, to please her mother. However the suspicious feeling in the back of her mind that screamed he was bad news wouldn't cease.

"You're not here to hurt my Mommy are you" she asked, her expression transforming into worry.

Kol stiffened, relaxing again just as quickly as to not arouse suspicion. He ran his hand through his perfectly styled hair, then reached down to pat Bonnie's head.

"Of course not. Why would I ever want to hurt you or your mother when I'm hoping of joining our two families together?" Kol asked, an innocent smile on his face. "You would like a new Daddy and possibly sisters wouldn't you, darling?"

Wincing at the force of his hand that patted her head, Bonnie stood in silence. Siblings might be fun. She had been by herself besides her mother and the maids for a while. Someone else to play with besides the village children would be a welcome addition.

Besides, maybe having this man as her Daddy wouldn't be as horrible as she thought, no matter how many bad vibes she got from him. Her mother seemed to like him and his daughters. He couldn't be all bad, right?

Her mother spoke up right before Bonnie could reply, coming up behind her daughter and picking her up in her arms. "I think that's a conversation for adults like us to have alone." she gave Bonnie a wink at the last part.

Kol pretended to bow. "As you wish, my lady." He smirked at the woman in front of him. "I deeply apologize but I seem to have forgotten your name-."

"Abigail. Abigail Bennett my lord." Bonnie's mother answered, smiling through hooded eyes. She came closer to the vampire, taking his hand in hers. They stared into each others eyes for a moment before Abigail led them both outside to the gardens for some privacy.

Once both of their parents were gone, Katherine immediately went up to Bonnie, who went to play dolls with Caroline. She snatched Bonnie's doll away from her, throwing it to the ground. Luckily it was made of cloth so it wouldn't break.

Bonnie whirled around, shocked that someone would do that. "Hey! Why'd you do that for?"

Katherine glared at her. "If Papa marries your Mama, you still won't be my sister." she said matter-o-factly

The other girl listened, confused. "Yeah we will. We haffta be, what else?"

"We don't 'haffta be' anything!" the vampire girl snapped. "You just stay out of my way and away from Papa!"

With that, Katherine shoved past her and into another room, leaving Bonnie surprised yet again by the fiery little girl. Looking about, she saw Caroline back on the rug playing. Deciding to put what just happened out of her mind, the little witch skipped over to the other sister, sitting down and beginning to play.

(That Evening…)

Abigail and Kol returned to the manor from the gardens as soon as darkness hit. Reaching the living room, Abigail gasped and pointed, putting her hand up to her mouth to hide her smile. Kol followed her gesture to find Caroline and Bonnie fast asleep on the floor, their dolls right beside them. This made him smirk, amused at how fast their little bodies could tire out.

Kol was about to call for one of the maids to carry Caroline to the carriage when he felt a hand on his shoulder. The vampire turned around, noticing Abigail shake her head, then motion for a blanket. Soon the girls were covered up, sleeping soundly as their parents sat on the couch and watched.

"I wonder where Katherine is?" Abigail asked, causing Kol to chuckle.

"Probably in another room sleeping. She's had a big day." He observed the two remaining girls. "All three of them have."

Shaking her head wearily with a smile, Abigail watched how Bonnie's chest rose and fell and how her nose scrunched up adorably. She loved her daughter and wanted to do anything to make her happy. She wanted to make their lives easier and filled with more joy than she could possibly give on her own.

Just from the interaction Kol had with each of the children, she could tell she had finally made her choice. There was no turning back. Abigail had never fallen in love so fast before and it scared her. But the safety she felt with the vampire lord was unlike anything she could ever imagine.

Turning towards Kol, who's arm was draped across the couch, Abigail moved closer until she was almost on top of him. He noticed what was happening and faced her, reaching his hand up to cup the side of her face. Tears streaming down Abigail's cheek wet Kol's hand, causing him to look up in concern.

"Abigail?"

Before he could get an answer, Abigail's lips crashed into his with such force that it nearly knocked him over. Kol closed his eyes and kissed her back with even more force, picking her up into his arms and carrying her upstairs to her bedroom.

They stayed there the rest of the night.

Several weeks passed with Abigail and Kol growing closer than ever. He would come visit every weekend, but that wasn't enough for Bonnie who would plead with her mother to have the vampire over so she could play with Caroline. Abigail would smile dearly at her daughter then tell Kai, one of her late husband's most trusted warlocks, to send a message to Lord Kol to come see her.

Soon it got to the point where the pair would go out, just the two of them. Kol would drop Caroline and Katherine off at the Bennett manor to play with Bonnie, often warning Katherine to behave herself which she responded with a wink and a smile.

One night, Bonnie noticed her mother and Kol were out unusually late. It worried her because they would always come home at a certain time every night they went out. Caroline noticed something was amiss, coming over to Bonnie on the couch.

"It's ok." She said, putting her small arm around the other girl, "Papa and your mama will come back."

Laying her head on her friend's shoulder, Bonnie let out a sigh, trying not to tear up. "I hope so. I miss them."

Meanwhile Katherine was over in another part of the room, playing by herself since she didn't want to be anywhere near Bonnie. She knew her father wasn't actually in love with this woman and would no doubt cast her away like he did so many others. At least she hoped. Just the thought of having the other girl as her sister made the vampire princess want to hurl.

She was so deep in her thoughts that none of the girls heard their parents return.

"Well well, and I thought my little angels would be getting their beauty sleep by now."

Katherine and Caroline heard Kol's voice behind them, making them quickly jump off their couches and come running. Their father laughed and squatted down, embracing the two of them tightly in his arms.

"I trust you both behaved yourselves and listened to everything you were told?" he asked, looking his daughter's in the eye with a smile.

Caroline beamed, twisting around and holding some of her white dress in her hands. "We were, Papa! We were! We were the bestest and had so much fun!"

A snort came from Katherine, which didn't go unnoticed by Kol. "You disagree, Katerina?"

Not thinking her father heard her, the eldest child blushed, immediately covering her mouth with her hands. "No Papa. I had fun."

Satisfied with her answers, the vampire stood up, taking Abigail's hand into his after she stood up. He put the witch's hand in front of the girls, who peered down to gaze upon a very big sparkling diamond ring.

Katherine felt like fainting.

Caroline screeched so loud that Bonnie had to cover her ears. "Papa? Is that what I think that is??"

Kol merely smiled and nodded. Abigail did too.

"Yes sweetheart, it is exactly." he answered.

This made Caroline gasp, gazing up at Abigail as the princess's eyes glazed over in shock. In a soft voice she asked, "Does this mean-?"

Abigail nodded again, tears brimming in her eyes.

Her face lighting up with more happiness than a five-year old could contain, Caroline ran and hugged Bonnie's mother. Bonnie, excited too, joined the hug. Abigail embraced them both back, squeezing them tight as she knelt to the floor.

However, Bonnie's and Abigail's happiness wouldn't last forever.

The wedding between Kol and Abigail was a monumental event, especially for the witches that lived in the village. They at first were a little apprehensive of a vampire joining their wealthiest family, but after a little persuasion and promises from Abigail that no harm would come to them, the coven reluctantly allowed the union.

Kol sat up in his and Abigail's room, watching the preparations from the balcony overlooking the garden. It was finally here. The day when he would have complete control over all the witches in Mystic Falls. Everything Kol had planned for was going to be his, including Lady Bennett and her annoying little brat.

He was impressed with his daughters and how they were being such good little actresses, Caroline's performance being almost too good. It was a bit concerning. Katherine, his shining star, his favorite, played her part perfectly, but it still let her father know where she stood.

After the ceremony was over, Kol's true intentions would begin. If the fools that the mother and daughter were got in the way, then so be it. They were collateral damage anyway.

A sudden knock on the door broke the vampire out of his thoughts. Kol turned to watch as a servant opened the door to reveal a tall, broad-shouldered man who's short wavy black hair matched his facial hair. He was dressed in his finest attire for his master's wedding. Kol's second-in-command was going to be his best man after all.

"Ahh Jackson. So good of you to join me." Kol said as the man known as Jackson pulled up a seat to sit down across from him. "Did you bring what I requested?"

"Congratulations my lord on your happy day, and yes I did." Jackson proceeded to pull out a tiny box, followed by a longer one. "The person who made these seemed almost afraid when I told them who they were for"

Kol smirked, reaching out to take the smallest box in his hands. Opening it revealed a enormous ring with a diamond in the middle followed by rubies set around it in the shape of a flower. Emerald stones were set on the sides, representing leaves. It was stunning, but it would also serve his purposes once he put it on Abigail.

The other gift was a breathtaking gold and diamond choker. Kol chuckled darkly as he ran his fingers across the craftsmanship. Once he presented these gifts to Abigail at the wedding, she and the witches would be his forever.

Outside he heard the bells chime, signaling it was almost about time for the ceremony to begin. Quickly, Kol got up, changed into his custom tuxedo as a servant shined his shoes, and made his way to the door.

Before he exited his chambers, he gave a wink towards Jackson. "Everything is going to change after today, mon frère."

Kol turned back around, a dark smile on his face.

Oh yes, everything was changing.

The wedding was beautiful and everything went perfectly. For Kol that is.

Watching as his new wife accepted his ring only to receive the necklace as well made things much, much easier for the vampire. Bonnie seemed to quickly accept her new father into the family as well as her two new sisters. As Kol could see it, there wasn't one single inkling of the suspicion present from when he first came.

As the new ruler of the manor, he quickly stamped out some changes, including bringing in his own soldiers and some servants. Jackson would secretly remove anyone his master didn't want and replace them with a person who was loyal to the new regime. Anyone who didn't agree with Kol would be thrown in the dungeons where they would be tortured into compliance.

With the power of the ring and necklace working their magic on Abigail, she didn't suspect anything happening right under her nose. She was completely and totally devoted to her husband, so much so that there were times when Bonnie wouldn't even see her mother.

Kol made sure that the little witch was distracted from what his plans were. He couldn't risk them failing all because one tiny girl was too curious for her own good. Caroline always proved to be a good asset for whenever Bonnie would ask Kol where her mother was. In that instance, the blonde vampire would appear out of nowhere, grabbing Bonnie's hand to drag her to play. Bonnie had no idea that Kol had compelled his daughter to distract Bonnie whenever she would ask him questions.

There were times when all Bonnie would see were either her step-father or her stepsisters. They would never answer her whenever she'd ask about her mother. Katherine would growl and brush past her, telling her to go ask someone else and not to bother her. It would hurt Bonnie's feelings not to be close to her elder sister, but at least she had Caroline.

She noticed the way Kol had changed drastically after the wedding. He was no longer the smiling gentleman she had met. Instead whenever they would be around each other, Bonnie was treated horribly. Kol would mock her, punish her for no reason, even force her to act like a servant.

When Abigail was present to see what Kol was doing to her daughter, she would brush it off and say he was just playing around with her. Bonnie was shocked at what her mother had become. Abigail was a shell of her former self, only listening to her husband and doing whatever he told her. Her usual vibrancy and loving nature were nonexistent.

It was similar to a puppet.

The worst part was that it didn't seem to bother Kol that his new wife was this way. He merely would order one of the maids to fetch Bonnie if she was becoming troublesome about her mother.

Sadly, these would be the last encounters Bonnie would have with Abigail. Years later, when she was fourteen, tragedy would strike.

Kol's abuse reached a high point when Bonnie turned fourteen. Caroline wouldn't even be her friend around her if she knew her father was watching. It had gotten so bad that Bonnie knew she had to do something. The witch had mastered more of her power with the help of Kai, which she was going to use to free her mother.

"This has to work, Kai. It just has to or else I'll never see her again!" Bonnie muttered, using her strength to practice the spell.

Kai observed his friend from down in the dungeons. An empty cell was home to the space where they studied magic. Magic to help the kingdom. Walls were covered with stacks and stacks of books while in the center sat a table with magical items sitting on top of it.

The warlock gazed at his friend, worried she might be going a bit overboard. He agreed to help her after witnessing the vampire lord kill one of his friends because they were plotting against him.

Kai hoped that wouldn't happen to him if Bonnie played her cards right. He would love to keep his head thank you very much.

Bonnie gasped beside him, "Kai, look!"

Kai turned to see her holding what appeared to be a stake. His eyes widened in shock. With one of those they were sure to win! Bonnie twirled the piece of wood around her fingers, throwing it up in the air. As the stake fell back to the ground, she caught it in mid-air, throwing it hard where it punctured the heart of a life-size dummy in the likeness of Kol.

Kai gave her a round of applause, walking up to Bonnie and placing a hand on her shoulder. "I'm letting you know as a friend, but I hope you're ready to do what you just did to that dummy to an incredibly old, incredibly powerful vampire. No pressure."

Bonnie smiled at her friend. "I'm ready." Seriousness overtook her face. "I've been ready."

Night fell at the manor. After Kol had gone into his daughter's rooms to bid them goodnight, he paused when he saw Bonnie's door was wide open. The vampire lord blinked his eyes, peering through the darkness only to see a figure curled up in the blankets in her bed. He wanted to get a closer look and was about to take a step into the room when he heard Abigail calling him.

Smirking to himself, Kol instead shut Bonnie's door, joining his wife upstairs in their bedroom.

Bonnie watched as Kai fell from the bed, covering his mouth to keep from laughing. "Shut up you idiot! Do you want him to hear you?!" she whispered.

The warlock straightened up, facing his friend who was hiding in the closet. "Ya know, you could have shot him. That was pretty much a perfect target."

Bonnie scoffed ."Yeah and you would have had your head ripped off before you could even blink." She rolled her eyes and climbed out, holding a makeshift slingshot with the stake in her other hand. "We have to be smart about this, which means it has to be done when Kol's unsuspecting."

Kai rolled his eyes in response. "Yeah I know, when he's asleep that way he won't know what hit him. I've got it."

Smirking, the girl put her weapon in the sling by her hip, joining Kai as they slipped quietly out of her room towards her mother's.

When the reached the door, after sneaking around the guards that were posted at the stairs, the two witches stood on either side. They glanced at the other, looking for one of them to make the first move, even doing rock paper scissors.

"Dang it! Why do I always lose?" Kai whined after he chose paper with the witch choosing scissors.

Bonnie's hand slapped quickly over his mouth, putting her finger up to her lips in a shushing motion. She glanced at the door where her mother and Kol resided. Kai nodded, putting his own finger up to his lips. It was now or never. Bonnie didn't even want to think about what would happen if they were caught.

Slowly and silently Kai opened the door, both of them tiptoeing into the room. Across from them, Bonnie could see her mother's enormous bed, the two occupants sound asleep, or at least she hoped they would be. Peering through the darkness, Bonnie caught sight of the shirtless form of her step-father, his arm draped over her mother as he held her close to him.

The witch took a deep breath, sweat dripping down her forehead. This was no time to be scared. Bonnie's mother's life depended on her!

Raising the weapon, she aimed it carefully and quietly at Kol, her finger on the trigger. Her mother would turn back to normal. She would be free of him. It all depended on this one shot.

As soon as her finger pulled the trigger, Bonnie watched in slow motion as the stake flew through the air towards the person she hated most. She had prayed for this day for a long time and it was finally going to happen.

Bonnie closed her eyes, hearing the stake hit flesh, only to open them again, dropping her weapon and falling to her knees in pure horror. Kai let out a loud gasp behind his friend, dropping his weapon too.

The stake had hit flesh alright, but it wasn't Kol. Blood dripped onto the bed as Bonnie's mother lay in the vampire's arms, her heart pierced by her own daughter's weapon. Kol was sitting upright in bed, holding Abigail's body like a shield. He glared at both witches, curling his upper lip in a snarl.

Bonnie and Kai stood frozen, not even hearing Kol snap his fingers. Out of nowhere, ten guards appeared in the room, restraining the two trespassers, taking their weapons and pinning them to the ground. Bonnie tried her best to struggle but the vampires were too strong. She craned her head over to see Kai in the same position on the floor.

Clapping was heard above them then a loud thump from Abigail's body as Kol unceremoniously shoved her off of him, the stake still in her body. A cold laugh filled the air, but all Bonnie could do was stare at the body of her mother.

A black robe was brought to cover the vampire's body as Kol stood up from the bed, making his way to stand over his would-be assailants. He gazed down at them coldly, then snapped again, causing the guards to lift the two witches to their feet. Bonnie and Kai groaned, their heads made to face the now amused vampire.

"I should commend you both for your skills, if they weren't going to be used for assassination. Mine least of all." Kol sneered "Just look at what it did to your poor mother, Bonnie."

Bonnie couldn't bear to look at Abigail laying there in her own blood. She tried to speak but all that came out were choked sounds. Burning tears filled her vision and her chest ached horribly as she struggled to breathe. Her mind went blank and all she could do was stare at the floor.

Her mother was dead all because of her! How could she have been so reckless as to not see that Kol would use her as a human shield!

A cold hand grabbed her chin, lifting her head to stare into the eyes of the man who made Bonnie's life a living nightmare. Kol gazed into her eyes, giving her the same smile he would when she was a little girl. Except this time there was no warmth behind it. Only dark humor.

"I should kill you both for what you've done." Kol stared at both witches. "Or what you attempted to do. But I have another idea."

Before Bonnie could blink, her step-father appeared in front of Kai, grinning sinisterly "I'm sorry I have to do this, but I have to set an example."

Before Bonnie could scream, Kol drew his hand back then forward, forcefully punching through Kai's chest and withdrawing her friend's heart. She watched as the guards dropped Kai's body on the floor, his eyes frozen in horror.

Bonnie let out a guttural shriek, struggling against the guard who was holding her back. Tears streamed down her face, sobs wracking her body as she strained towards her friend laying at Kol's bare feet. Kol glanced over after disposing of the organ, smirking at the girl's reaction. Drawing nearer to her, he grabbed her face again, this time with the hand covered in her friend's blood.

"As the new ruler, I should order you executed for killing Lady Bennett." He said softly. "But I'm also a generous man and I've always been quite fond of you Bonnie ever since you were a little girl. Because of this I'm giving you a second choice. Either you allow me to strip you of your title plus privileges as princess and have you serve under my daughters and I, or you end up like your mother and your friend here. Make your choice."

Bonnie racked her brain for an answer. On one hand, she would be dead. On the other, she would be forced to serve her mother and friend's murderer. After a couple of minutes, she let out a defeated sigh, tears stinging her eyes when she thought of what had happened in the span of thirty minutes.

How did it all go so horribly wrong?

Lifting her head up, the witch fiercely glared at the vampire. Once she made this decision, that would be her life now. "I choose….servitude, my lord." Bonnie spat the last part back in Kol's face.

Growling angrily, Kol took another handkerchief and wiped his face off before taking his hand and slapping Bonnie across hers. A mark appeared on her cheek, causing her to wince painfully, still glaring at her new master.

Kol shook with rage and pointed towards the door. "Get her out of my sight now!"

As the guard marched Bonnie out of the bedroom, she heard her step-father bellow at the servants to clean up the bodies. She held her head high and never looked back until they reached the dungeons.

The guard unlocked one of the cells, dumping Bonnie on the ground where she was quickly shackled to the wall. As she watched the door slam close and heard him leave, her eyes looked down and she hung her head, finally free to release all the anger, frustration, and sadness. Her body trembled and shook as her cries became louder.

Bonnie would no longer see her mother or friend ever again. Now she was completely and utterly alone.

(End Flashback)

Whew! I made a promise to myself that the flashback would only take two chapters and I did it! It took me two days but I did it! How did you guys like it? Were you expecting anything like that at all? Leave your thoughts, comments, questions, or concerns, I would really love to hear them!

Now we get to the present day. It's funny because I've never done anything entire flashback in any of my stories but I felt like I needed to with this one just to show you the why's and the how's.

I think this is one of my stories that I'm proud of even though there's only two chapters right now. Usually I have major writer's block but with this one I haven't!

Sorry I'm rambling. Anyways please leave a review and chapter three will be up before you know it!
