Layla walked with Will to the bus stop. Ever since they went to the movies things seemed to be going better than they had been. She was mostly quiet, lost in thought. The sound of Will talking snapped her out of her thoughts.
"You have a date for homecoming yet?"
Layla was surprised by the topic being brought up. Nevertheless she answered. "No, not yet."
Will gave a nod but seemed to drop the subject. Layla wasn't letting that happen easily. She had been in love with Will for years after all. "What about you?"
Will shook his head. "No. I have my eyes on someone though." They stop at the bus stop to wait for Ron to pull up.
Layla felt a sharp pain in her chest. She wasn't blind. She'd seen the looks he sent Gwen Grayson. "Oh..."
The bus pulled up and they boarded it, sitting with Magenta Zach and Ethan.
Warren sat on the stone wall outside Sky High reading a book. He glanced up as one of the buses landed. His dark brown eyes narrowed into a dark glare as he saw Will get off the bus.
Mood ruined he closed his book, got up, and entered the school. He remained unaware of the glance at his back courtesy of Layla before she'd turned back into what Magenta was saying.
The bell rang so the group entered and separated to their respective classes. Layla got out the previous nights to check over her answers.
"Layla."
Brown eyes dart up to meet Magentas. "Yes?"
"What was with the glance at Warren earlier?"
Layla blinked. She hadn't realized Magenta had noticed. "There wasnt necessarily a reason for it." In truth the redhead wasn't sure why she'd been looking at Warren. It wasn't like they were close. Maybe it was the way she never saw him with friends.
Magenta looked unconvinced but dropped it and switched the topic to homework.
"Layla! Layla! Layla!" Will called after the redhead. Layla stopped at her locker. "Layla I'm sorry."
"For what?" Layla looked at Will. He hadn't necessarily done anything wrong.
"Back at the table..Penny."
"Not a big deal." Layla opened her locker.
"But I feel bad. So how about we go to the Paper Lantern?"
Paper Lantern? Will hated chinese food. Layla looked at him. "But you hate Chinese Food."
"But you don't."
"Paper Lantern. eight o'clock."
