Celestia was smiling as ponies were flocking and enjoying the festival. She thought to herself "nothing can ruin this perfect day." Suddenly the sky darkened and the wind picked up slightly causing the ponies to worry. "Fear not my ponies i will protect you." Princess Celestia said as she landed amongst the ponies. "But who will protect you Celestia?!" A dark and sinister voice called out as a dark figure appeared made from the shadows around and red eyes appeared making Celestia shake slightly at who it was. "Darkar?! You are supposed to be banished!" Princess Celestia cried out in fear and anger. Darkar laughed and soon the once large shadow turned into the form of a pony. "Silly Sun Princess. How could i be banished if i never made an attack" his voice changed mid sentence to a familiar voice and Celestia looked in shock as the shadow turned into nightmare moon. "Luna?!...No, it can't be?" "Oh little luna is gone, now it's Nightmare Moon's time of reign." The former princess of the night said as she let out an evil laugh. Princess Celestia watched in horror as nightmare moon grew in size and a second shadow appeared and chuckled darkly. Princess Celestia screamed out Luna's name as everything went dark and she suddenly woke up sweating. Princess Luna suddenly burst into the room and was at her sister's side. "Celestia! Dear sister. It's alright it was only a dream." Princess Luna said as she rested her hoof on Celestia's. "Oh no sister it wasn't a mere dream. Am Afraid HE is trying to return." Princess Celestia said shakily while glancing at her sister and Luna looked completely shocked. "What now sister?" Luna asked, helping her sister out of bed. "We must prepare and inform twilight and her friends about this as well as Princess Cadence and Shining Armor." Celestia said as she gathered her crown and accessories and hastily made her way to the throne room with her younger sister trailing behind her. Back at Fluttershy's cottage, the sun was peeking in through the window when Discord awoke. As he let out a loud yawn he noticed he wasn't in his own bed at his castle. It wasn't until a soft snore from his left side gave him the answer he was looking for. Discord glanced down to see the still sleeping form of Fluttershy, her mane slightly shriveled. He chuckled slightly as he gently nudged her awake which only made her snuggle deeper into the covers. "Fluttershy. It's time to get up" he said as he nudged her again, this time waking her up. "Oh good morning Discord. What time is it?" Fluttershy said mid-yawn while glancing up at Discord, who by now, was trying to stop the giggle in his throat.
"It's mid morning. And before you try to get up, I already fed your animal friends." Discord said with a smile. Fluttershy smiled back and nuzzled back back down into the covers. Just as Discord was gonna say something, a loud banging came from Fluttershy's front door. They both got up and made their way down to the door and once open Fluttershy and Discord were greeted by their five friends, who were in a panic. "Whoa there. One at a time." Discord said, zipping their mouths with his magic. The others simply glared at him and Twilight unzipped their mouths and spoke first. "Fluttershy, we need to head to Canterlot. Princess Celestia wrote a letter to me informing me that she needed us to come as quickly as we could." Fluttershy was now very nervous about what the princess could want. "And what about me?!" Discord exclaimed, feeling rather left out. "Of course you were wanted too" Pinkie pie said in her usually hyper voice. "Well now that we got them, what are we waiting for? Let's go!" Rainbow Dash said as she tried to zoom off, only to be stopped by Applejack. "Now hold on there Rainbow Dash." She said as she grabbed Rainbow's tail in her mouth. "What?!" Rainbow Dash asked in a harsh tone, only to be met by Applejack tilting her head towards Fluttershy, who was somewhat panicking. "You ok darling?" Rarity asked as she placed a gentle hoof on her shoulder. Fluttershy couldn't possibly tell them, especially Discord, about her nightmare last night, the same nightmare that Princess Celestia had. "Fluttershy?" a now concerned Discord asked, snapping her out of her thoughts. "Of yes I'm fine. I guess I'm just still tired from yesterday." She said shyly. Discord didn't seem to believe it but didn't push the matter. "Well let's get going then." Rainbow Dash said as she got ready to take off but was stopped by Applejack, who simply looked back at Discord. Discord snapped his fingers and soon they were all in the throne room of Canterlot. Sitting on their thrones were Princess Celestia and Princess Luna. Next to Celestia was Princess Cadence, Shining Armor, and their daughter Flurry Heart. Princess Celestia got up from her throne and approached twilight and the others. "Thank you all for coming so quickly. I'm afraid something terrible is going to happen." Celestia said looking down in sadness. They all glanced at her with worried looks, fluttershy more so than the rest. "Princess. I dont understand. Whats going to happen?" Twilight asked as she glanced up at her former teacher. This time it was Princess Luna's turn to speak. "We are afraid an old enemy of ours may be trying to return. He is nothing like the foes you've faced before." This caused slight gasps between the main six. Something in the way the princess was acting made Discord feel uneasy, then it hit him. "Wait you dont mean its really HIM?!" Discord asked in slight fear, glancing at the princess, who simply nodded. "Ok can somepony tell us who this is and what's going on?" Rainbow Dash asked, feeling annoyed and got elbowed by Applejack. Rainbow Dash just glared at her. Celestia sighed and stood up tall.
"Darkar, a being of pure dark magic, once ran amuck in equestria. He corrupted everything and every creature he found." Celestia glanced at Discord, who nodded, before she continued. "One creature that knows just what he is capable of. Discord used to be….well different." Celestia sighed as the main six and Spike looked at Discord with shock. "She is right I used to be "normal" but Darkar happened and like all the others he corrupted I was changed but I was changed in a different way. He cursed me when he corrupted me. I once looked like this." Discord finished by showing them a vision of what he used to be like. In front of the six mares and one young dragon was a mist that showed an alicorn stallion with jet black mane and tail,a brown coat, darker brown on the tips of the wings and half way up his legs. The only thing that seemed to remain the same was his red and yellow eyes. "Wait, that was you?!" Rainbow Dash asked in shock, to which Discord simply nodded. The main six and Spike were shocked but none more than Fluttershy. Her eyes never left the image until it disappeared. "How did it happen?" Fluttershy asked now looking up at Discord and he hesitated. He didn't know how she or the others would react. He sighed and began his tale. "It was close to two thousand years ago and Celestia was just getting ready to start her rule over Equestria. I was helping her understand her role when suddenly Darkar attacked. He struck fear into every living creature and corrupted so many." The girls and spike gasped softly as Discord continued. "He charged into the palace, and was set on attacking princess Celestia when I interfered. I held him at bay while Celestia and luna, who was only a baby at the time, fled with those who were unharmed. As i watched them flee, i was struck from behind and that's when darkar took advantage and used his magic to corrupt me in the worst way possible." The image of the story vanished and all that was left was a sad looking draqueus. The mane six and spike all looked at each other and then at Discord. Suddenly Discord fell down on his one knee. Everypony rushed to his side to check on him when there was a bright light and blast that caused every creature to be blown backwards. When every creature recovered they all looked to see Discord on his side, in pain. Fluttershy was the first to reach him as she gasped and held his head close to her chest. "Oh Discord. What happened?" Fluttershy cried as she held him closer. Princess Celestia walked closer and used her magic to scan Discord. "We should get him to the hospital. If this is what i think it is he will need all the help he can get." Princess Celestia said as her sister summoned the guards to help escort Discord to the hospital. Hours later…. "How is he?" Twilight asked as the Princesses and Fluttershy came out from Discord's room. "He is stable for now but the doctors say he is very ill." Princess Luna said as she and Princess Celestia glanced at Fluttershy, who was on the verge of tears. "What do we do now?"Rarity asked, looking concerned as she comforted Fluttershy. "Well unfortunately there isn't much we can do. Not unless we know another chaotic being." Celestia said, looking back at the door to Discords room.
Fluttershy suddenly looked up and gasped. "What is it sugarcube?" Applejack asked. "I know what we need to do. We have to seek out Nyra." Fluttershy said heading towards the door. "Yeah we have to find Nyra...um who is Nyra?" Pinkie pie asked as she hopped up and down. "She is another chaotic being that I met years ago. She was sick and I helped her get better." Fluttershy said as she reached the door and looked back. "You girls coming?" she asked and the others and Spike followed. Fluttershy led them back to her cottage, where she gathered up everything she needed for the journey. "Fluttershy where in Equestria are we going?" Twilight asked as she watched Fluttershy flutter around her cottage. "We are heading to the Pandem Kingdom." Fluttershy said as she finished packing her bags. "Wait a minute… how come I've never heard of it?" Rainbow Dash asked as she flew into Fluttershy's path. "That's because the Pandem Kingdom was or rather is in ruins. There is no record of it in any books because of a powerful spell that erased it from all history. I only know about it from Princess Celetia." Twilight said as she glanced around at the others. "There was a powerful battle that left it in ruins. Nyra was and is still the Crowned princess of the kingdom. If anyone can help Discord, its her." Fluttershy said. "And how do we know she will help?" Rarity asked walking up to Fluttershy. "I know she will. The Pandem Kingdom was home to the chimera." Fluttershy said as she glanced back at her friends. "Well what are we waiting for, let's get on the road." Pinkie pie said. And with that they began their journey to find the Pandem Kingdom and the princess that once lived there. They traveled for many days with Pinkie Pie entertaining them along the way. "And then he said…" "PINKIE!" they all shouted at her after hearing the same joke for the last hour. "Are you sure you know where you are going darling?" Rarity asked as they seemed like they were in the middle of nowhere. "I'm sure we are close." Twilight said, looking around. "You look like you are lost." A voice called. "Who said that?!" Rainbow Dash called out, putin her hoofs up like she was ready to fight. "Easy there Rainbow Dash. i'm not looking for a fight." a dark purple unicorn with a broken horn said as she came out of the shadows. "Tempest!" Twilight said as she recognized the unicorn. "It's been a while Princess Twilight Sparkle." Tempest said as she hugged twilight. "What are you all doing in a place like this?" Tempest asked. "We could asked you the same thing." Applejack said looking at her with a confused look. "Well I'm on my way back to where I call home now." Tempest said, turning around and continuing her walk with the main six and spike right behind her. "That wouldn't happen to be anywhere near the Pandem Kingdom would it?" Spike asked. Tempest suddenly stopped and glanced back at them. " oh non, pas bon. What in the wide world of equestria do you want with the Pandem Kingdom?" Tempest asked, almost looking shocked. "We need Nyra's help. Someone we care for is dying." Fluttershy said as she stepped forward drawing tempest's attention. "And who would this be?" Tempest asked, looking worried still. "The former lord of chaos. Discord." Rarity said stepping up next to Fluttershy. Tempest looked at them for a moment then pulled out a crystal orb. "If it's him we are talking about then i'll take you right there." Tempest said, as she held the orb higher. "Is that a traveler's orb?!" Twilight asked, gawking at the orb in tempest's hoof. "Yes it is and it will take us right to the gates of the Pandem Kingdom." Tempest said as the pandem kingdom appeared in the crystal orb. "Woah…" the mane six and spike said at once. Tempest threw the orb towards the ground and it opened into a portal. "Follow me." Tempest said as she walked through the portal. Once they all got through the portal they saw an amazing sight. Before them was a once beautiful and large castle that now laid in ruins. "Everypony and dragon, welcome to the Pandem Kingdom." Tempest announced as she led them further in. Suddenly, a horde of guards surrounded them. "Halt. Who are you?!" The one guard demanded as he pointed a spear towards them. "Oye briggs. Stand down." A female voice called out and a mare guard with medals on her armor came around a corner. The other guards saluted her and lowered their weapons. "But Captain Storm. They are trespassing." Briggs almost yelled, earning a scornful look from his captain. "They are to be treated as guests." A low voice called out and an all to familiar unicorn stallion appeared. "King Sombra!" the girls, minus tempest, and spike cried out.
