Any advice on power limits, unique quirks of magic and paths you'd like too see are welcome. I need someone to bounce ideas off of... please.

I love this rewrite, there are subtle difference so far that make him feel so much more incorporated and human.

He isn't in any classes with Elena or Stefan, so no Tanner Scene...

I am giving him actual friends too... which I didn't before.

Matt couldn't help it when he turned to Bonnie, his voice weak. "How's Elena doing?"

His adorable friend sighed, clearly expecting this." Her mom and dad died. How do you think? She's putting on a good face, but it's only been four months."

"Has she said anything about me?"

"Oh, no. So not getting in the middle." Bonnie backed up. "You pick up the phone and call her."

"I feel weird calling her. She broke up with me... besides, I think Liam would beat my ass. He was pretty peeved with me for mooning over her."

Bonnie nodded. " He makes a good point Matt, you might want to move on..."

It was then that Matt looked up, as did Bonnie. Pain sparked in his chest as he saw Elena and Stefan Salvatore and Liam walk into the Grill. Liam was rolling his eyes at his sister, pretty typical for his friend, where as Elena was leaning in kind of close to Stefan while looking for them. Matt, realizing that Liam was kind of right, decided to be nicer and introduce himself. He moved over to them as they approached, holding out his hand.

"Hey, I'm Matt, nice to meet you."

Stefan smiled softly. " Hi. Stefan."

His ex girlfriend smiled at him. " Hey."

"Hey." He said back.

"LIAM!" Caroline barked out, making everyone turn towards her as she all but threw herself at Liam. "You didn't see me at all at school today, curse you for taking those college courses. It's like your too busy to see me."

Liam laughed, a sound that Matt enjoyed since it was so infrequent. He held the girl right back, amusingly small next to Caroline's fierce height. "I could never be too busy for you, Care. Never ever, I swear." He sat next to her, leaning towards her comfortably. "Oooh, you ordered my favorite, spicy chicken tenders smothered in onions. Have I told you how much I love you?"

She winked at him. "If I didn't know you were gayer then a french pastry, I'd think you were seducing me." After a few minutes of comfortable silence, Caroline did her thing and pounced on them all, piping up with conversation first. She turned to Stefan, smiling winningly. "So, you were born in Mystic Falls?"

Stefan nodded. " Mm-Hmm. And moved when I was still young."

Bonnie leaned in. " Parents?"

"My parents passed away."

Naturally ever compassionate Elena turned towards him. " I'm sorry. Any siblings?"

"None that I talk to. I live with my uncle."

"Then you have some siblings?" Liam piped up, finally talking to them.

"Well yeah, a brother, Damon. We don't really talk, he's kind of a dick."

"I can relate." Liam nudged his sister, who rolled her eyes at him playfully. Matt laughed at that, internally anyway.

Caroline, not entirely reading the room, piled on. "So, Stefan, if you're new, then you don't know about the party tomorrow."

"It's a back to school thing at the falls." Bonnie said.

Stefan turned to Elena. "Are you going?"

Bonnie nodded for her friend. " Of course she is."

Liam sighed. "I'll be there too, probably bored out of my mind. Not a lot of guys around her to have fun with, sadly, but maybe I'll finally get my chance with Matty here." He winked at Matt then, getting the tiniest blush on his cheeks.

Matt could not help his laughter. "Don't get your hopes up, Liam."

"Don't give me a reason Matty."

"""

Liam felt sort of annoyed, pitying Matt who had to watch as his sister hit it off with a new guy. He may not have cared that they split, but he could not help but feel bad for the guy what with having to watch the so called Love of his Life, get on with another guy. His face was pitifully sad, and so Liam did what he did best and flirted with him enough to get a rise out of his sort of friend.

It worked just enough that Bonnie and Elena both gave him relieved smiles, knowing full well what he was trying to do.

He could only hope Matt got laid at some point, maybe that would ease his issues up and help him move on from his sister...

'Nah probably not, everyone is stuck on my annoying sister... he'll probably be stuck on her for his entire life.'

Sighing, he almost missed it when Matt spoke up. " So when did you are Caroline get close? I mean you've always been friends I guess but not as close as all that."

Sharing a smile with his current best blonde friend, Liam smiled. "After our parents passed, we spent a lot of time at Caroline's house. We bonded and she's been a great help over the summer. Helped me get into my driving test, worked with me to get over my fear of cars. supported me in learning self defense and so on. I helped her with her cheers and dealing with her dick of a father leaving."

Care smiled at him, her eyes almost glittering. "He's been a real rock this summer, a whole ocean of self discovery really. He even helped me get okay at cooking!"

Naturally, Liam noticed his sister's frown. He loved her but she had never been kind to Caroline, who while rude and self absorbed at times, was warm and kind adn always tried to be helpful to everyone. It was a sad fact that everyone sort of abandoned Care, including her gay dad and workaholic mother. Elena had done the same thing to her countless times, choosing Bonnie every time.

Liam would never do that, Care was basically his sister at his point and frankly there wasn't a whole lot he wouldn't do for her.

He just wish she wasn't showing Stefan so much interest, not when he already choose Elena... it would only bring more heartache. 'Please don't try to get with him at the party, your bad enough without booze, with it you'd be a nightmare.' He stopped for a second. 'On better thought, don't do a damn thing until we figure out what the hell that odd feeling was when I touched Stefan. For now I just have to avoid him, not a hard prospect since we share no classes.'

'''

Hours passed and sooner then he'd like, Stefan found himself at the Party looking and listening for Elena. He found her quickly, next to Bonnie.

Bonnie was speaking, and just a little drunk. "Just admit it, Elena."

"Oh, okay, so he's a little pretty."

Bonnie laughed. " He has that romance novel stare."

Just as he started to smirk at that, Caroline of all people marched up to him. "Hey! You made it!" Liam was not far behind her, looking utterly bored. A look that evaporated as he saw Stefan, turning into something far more worried.

"I did." He said, trying to convey just how uninterested he was. He wasn't being cruel, but he wasn't fond of her constant interest. It was... gratting.

Caroline did not read that at all. " Well, let's get you a drink."

"Well, I'm-"

"Oh, come on." And Caroline lead him away to get a beer, much to his annoyance, but still after only a few minutes he managed to escape her and move over to Elena, standing behind her just as she turned around and Bonnie left her. Startled, Elena jumped.

"Hi." he said, noticing she seemed more unnerved then just from being scared by his standing behind her.

Elena smiled. "Hi."

"I did it again, didn't it?"

"Yeah."

Stefan smiled sheepishly. " I'm sorry. You're upset about something."

Elena shook her head. " Oh, uh, no, it's- it's just Bonnie. She's...You know what? Never mind. You're...here."

"I'm here."

:::

"Care... he's not interested, please your just going to hurt yourself." Liam put a hand on Caroline's arm, as soon as Stefan evaded her. Caroline was watching him talk to Elena, interest clear in their collective eyes. "He chose Elena, like most people, but that's his choice. I am choosing you... please, don't let yourself get too involved."

His beloved friend shuddered, turning and burying her head into his shoulder, an awkward feeling since she was several inches taller then him. "Why does everyone choose her?"

"I don't know babe, I really don't... Trust me, it's been happening to me for years. Even our parents did that a lot, it hurts but one day you'll leave Mystic Falls and people will get to appreciate you for you instead of comparing you to my sister."

Sniffling, Caroline pulled away. "Your too good to me, I'm glad we bonded."

"Same, sis, same. Now, let's try and find me a good lay, it's been far too long."

Giggling, she started to look around the party. "There has to be a nice gay boy for you to enjoy."

"Probably, but in Mystic Falls, land of those obsessed with the past, their likely not out... sigh and there's Jeremy eying Vicki, what does he see in her?" He glared at his idiot little brother, mooning over Vicki who all but trapesed into the woods riding on Tyler's dick. "I mean I get Tyler, Vicki's easy and he likes that... but Jer's a romantic and she's a user, of drugs and people. When will that idiot learn?"

"Probably when he's turned you gray."

They shared a laugh at that... and then he did what he usually did at parties, watch people be dumb and judge them. Only this time he enjoyed this past time with Caroline. He watched people making out with the wrong people, a teacher making out with a student ( which was not as shocking as it seemed given the high bar of attractive teens in the area), a few lesbians rushing into the woods, some druggies getting off on their own stupid choices...and, about an hour after starting this lovely sport of people watching, his brother being chased by Elena, who apparently finally caught him getting drunk.

"Jeremy! Jeremy!" She said as she chased him, forcing a groaning Liam to apologize to Care and follow suit. "Jeremy, where the hell are you going?"

Jeremy, not in a good mood, called out. " I don't want to hear it!"

"Enough you two, seriously he's just drunk Elena who cares. We're both drinking, Get over it." He called out to his idiotic siblings, just as Jeremy tripped over something.

Jeremy called out as he struggled to stand. " Vicki? No! Oh, my god, it's Vicki!"

Elena gasped. "Oh, my god!"

"No!"

Having the only Medical training of his siblings, his dad having taught a class on First aid a year before, Liam hurried over to the wounded girl. "Move." His brother obeyed. "Damn, a throat wound... we need to carry her over there and call an Ambulance. Elena give me your scarf." His sister obeyed, just as Jeremy lifted Vicki up. He put pressure on her wound, so she wouldn't bleed out and they carried her to the party.

Elena called out. "Somebody help!"

Matt, who was close by, freaked out. "Vicki? Vicki, what the hell?!"

"What happened to her?" Tyler said.

Liam growled out. "Somebody, call an ambulance!"

Tyler, in a rare moment of intelligence, called out. "Everybody back up, give her some space!"

It took almost twenty minutes for the Ambulance to arrive, when it did they sent out Vicki and Matt together, leaving everyone to slowly disperse.

Bonnie approached them, just as Liam was washing the blood from his hands. " Hey. We're gonna go to Mainline Coffee, wait for news."

Elena sighed. "I gotta take Jeremy home."

"Elena, there's no way I'm psychic. I know that. But whatever I saw, or I think I saw, I have this feeling..." Liam perked up at that moment, listening in to her conversation entirely.

'Psychic... is she like me? Is that tied to that weird feeling I had when I touched Stefan... I really must have to talk to her Grandma. It's crazy but she just might have answers... either way I am in for an interesting talk. Sheila is always good for that.'

Elena seemed almost afraid. " Bonnie, what?"

"That it's just the beginning."

Standing, Liam turned to Bonnie. "I'll head with you, wait for news if that's okay."

"Sure. " She said and he moved to go with her and Caroline.

Before that, he turned to Elena and grabbed her wrist. "Leave Jer alone for the night. I may hate his obsession with Vicki, but he does care for her. This is a big trauma for him... just let him be." He didn't let go when she pulled away. "Elena, I am more then serious, leave him be. Your nagging isn't helping."

After a minute she sighed. "Fine... but if he crashes, it's on you."

"Naturally."

'''

To his lack of shock, the entire time he was at Mainline Coffee with Bonnie and Caroline, it turned into a whining session for Caroline. He loved the girl but she could whine with the best of them, especially when Drunk. While he, not fond of getting drunk, had only nursed on a single beer the whole night, Caroline had decided to down about six and thus was utterly out of it.

Bonnie started asking. "Are you sober yet?"

"No."

"Keep drinking. I gotta get you home. I gotta get me home."

It was here that she started to whine. "Why didn't he go for me? You know, how come the guys that I want never want me?" Caroline looked utterly destroyed.

" I'm not touching that." Bonnie, the greatest friend ever... bitch.

"I am." Liam said, smiling warmly at Caroline. "We've talked about this before, but I will lay it out as plainly as I can. Elena get's a lot of attention cause she doesn't want it. You are desperate for attention which I get, your mom is married to her job, your dad abandoned you for his boyfriend and most people prefer Elena. It sucks, but after Highschool you can remake your life into whatever you want, You won't have to be judged on Elena so perk up and move on... "

Care buried him in a hug. "I love you, Liam... your so good to me."

"I try, Sis... I try. Oh, Bonnie, tell your Grams to call me. I have a couple of questions for her, about her job. I am interested in the Occult, you know I like to write."

The girl gave him a look, they had never been close so it really was an odd question. "Fine, I'll pass on your number, see what she has to say."

"Thanks." 'That might be my best hope. I can't see Bonnie talking it seriously, whatever this feeling is... so I might have to just go to the source... I like Sheila as it so it won't be that much of a sacrifice. Might be fun even without the right answers.'

Happy, he continued to help Caroline get sober and stayed well after Bonnie left, agreeing to get Caroline home safely. It was around the time Bonnie left that he noticed an older, very, very sexy guy looking at Caroline. The man was the definition of sexy, the bluest of blue eyes, messy thick black hair, alabaster skin and leather... Liam, never really into romance, flushed at the mere sight of him and his unbelivably sinful smirk.

Turning, he saw Caroline looking at the guy, her eyes desperate. "Hey, calm that look. You don't know him and your drunk. If your interested, get his number and try when your sober... please, for me?"

She pouted. "I see your point... fine... maybe we can share?"

He laughed. "I wish, but alas I have a feeling he is not on my team... now go, get his number." With great pride, he watched the half drunk girl do just that, That she didn't puke on him or pass out was sad, it would have been funny, but the raw happiness on her face at his interest was... painful as it was heartwarming. She deserved something nice like that...

'You better be nice to her, sexy stranger, or I will kill you myself.'

Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.

This was fun and interesting and I loved writing it.
