Kaiba's P.O.V.

Turn 1: Zane

"I draw."

"And for my first move I activate the Spell Card, "Future Fusion"! With this card, by sending the required Monsters from my Deck to the Graveyard, I can Fusion Summon!" Zane takes out three "Cyber Dragon" cards and proceeds to drop them on the ground, causing him to receive a glare from Kaiba. "I fuse my three "Cyber Dragons" to Summon "Cyber End Dragon" in Attack Mode!" From a blinding pillar of light emerge a massive three-headed mechanical dragon. "Per "Future Fusion's" effect I equip it to my Monster."

"Cyber End Dragon" (4000/2800)

"I now place one card face-down and end my turn."

Kaiba would have been impressed that Zane Summoned such a powerful Monster on the first turn, but Zane's treatment to his "Cyber Dragon" cards, which Zane once valued as much as Kaiba values his own "Blue-Eyes" prevented such an act. "To treat your own favorite card like that, you truly have fallen far from your glory days from Duel Academy." Zane to no pain from the insult. "Some time after my defeat to Aster Pheonix I learn that there is one simple rule in this world. That the only things that matters is power and victory!" Kaiba couldn't help but feel nostalgic.

Kaiba began thinking to himself. "It's like I'm looking at a picture to my past self. Only caring about power and willing do whatever it took to get it, with no regard to the pain I caused to others. Like I did to Solomon Muto." Kaiba flashes back to after he defeated Solomon Muto and claimed his "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" for himself, only to tear the card in two. "Little did I know, that shortly after that I'd suffer my first defeat to Solomon's grandson Yugi Muto. No. To the Pharaoh Atem." Kaiba them remembers his first defeat to Atem. Kaiba had the Pharaoh on the ropes and was about to achieve victory, only for it to be snatched away when Atem did something nobody had ever done before, called upon the power of Exodia. "I though power was the only thing to win, but through the trust and respect he had for his cards, he was able to beat me. Though not all the way, my eyes were beginning to open to the truth."

"But it wasn't just the Pharaoh, Yugi himself also taught me that victory shouldn't come at the price of one's values." Kaiba's flashback changes to his second Duel against Yugi at Dualist Kingdom, Kaiba was standing on a ledge overlooking as deadly drop. In front of him his "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon", all but its center head decaying and on the other side of the Field, Atem and his "Celtic Guardian". "There was a lot riding on that Duel. The winner would face Pegasus, and he took something important from both of us, for Yugi it was his grandfather's soul, for me it was the soul of my little brother Mokuba. I was so desperate to win and save my brother, I gave Atem a choice, victory or my life. The Pharaoh was willing sacrifice my life to win, not for Yugi's grandfather but for the sake of his own pride. Yugi was another story, even though it meant giving up a chance to save his grandfather Yugi wasn't willing to sacrifice my life for victory."

"Now that I think about it, if I'm ever put in the same situation, I might not be able to do it either. Even if it meant saving him, Mokuba would never life with the fact that saving his life would come at the cost of another. In the end Yugi taught me that one's values should always come before victory."

Turn 2: Kaiba

"It's my Turn. I draw!"

Kaiba proceeds to look at the cards in his hand. "I start of by activating "Pot of Greed", which allows me to draw two cards." As Kaiba adds two more cards Zane can tell he's up to something. "Now I Summon "Z-Metal Tank" in Attack-Mode!". A yellow orb with a green eye in the center attached to a tank trad armed with a laser blaster on both sides appeared.

"Z-Metal Tank" (1500/1300)

Zane laughed. "HAHAHA. That's your first move? That hunk of junk is nothing compared to my monster. I guess all the stories of your great skill were highly exaggerated." Kaiba didn't let the words affect him. "I'm just getting started. From my hand, I activate "Ties of the Brethren", by giving up 1000 Life Points I can select one Level 4 Monster on my field, and then I can Summon two Monster of the same type from my hand or Deck, though they won't be able to attack or be sacrificed." Kaiba takes two cards from his deck then proceeds to shuffle it. "I Summon "X-Head Cannon" And "Y-Dragon Head!" A yellow and blue humanoid robot with cannons on its shoulders and a spiked ball instead of legs, along with a red robotic dragon appeared.

"X-Head Cannon" (1800/1500), "Y-Dragon Head" (1500/1600)

(Kaiba 4000→3000)

Kaiba receives a painful shock of electricity. Zane amused by Kaiba's pain sarcastically asks' "Did that hurt?" Withstanding the pain Kaiba retorts. "I been through worse. I now combine my monsters in order to Summon "XYZ-Dragon Cannon"!" "Y-Dragon Head" detaches its wings as it positions itself on "Z-Metal Tank", with "X-Head Cannon" attaching itself to "Y-Dragon Heads" back.

"XYZ-Dragon Cannon" (2800/2600)

"I now activate "XYZ-Dragon Cannon's" special ability! By sending one card in my hand to the Graveyard, it can destroy one card on the field, and I choose your "Future Fusion"!" Zane notices that the card Kaiba discards is "Chaos Emperor Dragon – Envoy of the End". "XYZ-Dragon Cannon" fires a blast at the hologram of "Future Fusion" causing it to shatter. "And since it's destroyed your "Cyber End Dragon" goes along with it." "Cyber End Dragon" then explodes. "Now that you have no monsters my "XYZ-Dragon Cannon" can attack you directly! Go, Cannon Firestorm!" "XYZ-Dragon Cannon" fires laser blast from its shoulder cannons, dragon head and trad cannons at Zane. Zane proceeds to activate one his face down cards. "I activate my Trap, "Power Wall"! When I take damage from an attack, I send any number of cards from the top of my Deck to the Graveyard in order to reduce the damage I take by the number of cards I discard times 100. I send 28 cards to the Graveyard the damage to 0." Zane takes out the top 28 cards of his Deck and drops them on the ground.

Kaiba growls, not out of frustration that his attack was negated, but out of Zane's continuous disrespect for Dueling. "I place two cards face down, and end my turn."

Kaiba still felt slight pain from the electrodes but paid no mind to it. "This is nothing. Even someone like Joey Wheeler could withstand something like this. Wheeler." Kaiba remembered his first Duel with his rival's best friend at Duelist Kingdom. Though somewhat surprised that he somehow got his hands on a rare card like "Red-Eyes Black Dragon" Kaiba still defeated him effortlessly. "While at first I thought of him as nothing but an amateur, Wheeler's skill you;d steadily grown from our first Duel." Kaiba flashes forwards to Joey's Duel against Yami Marik in the Battle City Semi-Finals.

"I first thought it was a complete fluke that he made it to the semi-finals of my Battle City Tournament, but I was wrong. He got their though his hard work and determination, and his Duel against Marik's insane split personality was a testament to that. Though back then I'd laugh at the idea of magic, I now acknowledge that their Duel wasn't an ordinary one. It was a Shadow Game in which they felt the pain of their Monsters felt when they were destroyed. Wheeler even had to endure the power of "The Winged Dragon of Ra" in its Pheonix Form and was still able to stand, something even I was amazed at.

"At least until he ended up collapsing from his injuries before he was able to finish his last move. Had it been a regular Duel it would have been Wheeler to face Yugi in the finals. And then there was our Duel After the tournament." Kaiba flashes forwards again to his second Duel with Joey. "Even though he still wasn't a match for me I'll admit that I had to take things seriously to win. He may not be on the same league as Yugi and me but I have to admit, he's still a decent Duelist in his own right." Kaiba looks at the electrode on his right wrist. "That's right, compared to what he went through against Marik, this is nothing! And if I lose this Duel because of a little shock, Wheeler will never let me here the end of it. And I not going to let that happen!"

Turn 3: Zane

"It's my turn, I draw!"

A sinister smile formed on Zanes face. "From my hand activate the Spell Card "Reasoning"! When this card is activated, you have to declare a level. I'll then have to keep drawing cards until I draw a Monster that can be Normal Summoned or Set. And if its Level is different from the one you chose, I can Special Summon it, but I'll have to send all the other cards I drawn to the Graveyard, but if its Level's the same it gets sent to the Graveyard as well." Kaiba leered at Zane. "I don't know what you're trying to accomplish, but I'll play along. I chose Level 3."

Zane continues to draw until he drawn his third card. With a smile he proceeds to drop the first two cards he'd drawn "What luck the Monster I drawn was the Level 4 "Cyberdark Horn" which I'll now Summon in Attack Mode!" A mechanical creature with a horned dragon-like head appeared.

"Cyberdark Horn" (800/800)

Kaiba notices Zane's Deck has only one card remaining. "Running low on cards I see. Think you can win in the next two turns?" Zane laughed at the question. "Two? No. I'm ending this Duel right now! I activate "Polymerization" to fuse my "Cyberdark Horn" that's on my Feild with "Cyberdark Edge" and "Cyberdark Kneel" that are in my hand!" A mechanical dragonfly with bladed bird-like wings, along with a mechanical serpent appeared next to "Cyberdark Horn" before all three are sucked into a swirling vortex. "Tremble in terror at the power of my ultimate Monster! I Fusion Summon "Cyberdark Dragon"!" With a wave of darkness appeared a demonic-looking, mechanical winged serpentine dragon.

"Cyberdark Dragon" (1000/1000)

"Now when this Monter is Special Summoned I can choose one Dragon-Type Monster from either of our Graveyards and equip it to my "Cyberdark Dragon" to increase its ATK by the ATK of the Monster equipped to it. And I choose your "Chaos Emperor Dragon – Envoy of the End"!" A dark portal appeared beneath "Cyberdark Dragon". Kaiba's dragon rose up from it and was entrapped on "Cyberdark Dragon's" chest.

"Cyberdark Dragon" (1000→4000/1000)

"But that's not all my "Cyberdark Dragon" gains 100 ATK for each card. in my Graveyard. And since there are forty, it gains another 4000 ATK!"

"Cyberdark Dragon" (4000→8000/1000)

"8000!" Kaiba could hardly believe what he was seeing, He heard rumors about this card's power and now he could see they were true. Even so he had a plan to beat it. "Now "Cyberdark Dragon" attack "XYZ-Dragon"!" Zane's Monster charges towards Kaiba's. "Not so fast! Since your Monster's attacking, I can activate my face-down Trap Card, "Magical Trick Mirror"! With this card I can activate a Spell Card from your Graveyard. And I choose "Future Fusion"! By sending the required cards to the Graveyard I can Fusion Summon a Monster!" Kaiba takes out three cards and places them in his Graveyard. "I now Fusion Summon..." "I don't think so!" Zane cried out. "From my hand I activate the Quick Spell "Mystical Space Typhoon", which allows me to destroy one Spell or Trap card on the Field! And I choose "Future Fusion"!" A vortex of wind appears from the card and destroys Kaiba's Spell. "And with my Spell now in the Graveyard, my Monster gains another 100 ATK!"

"Cyberdark Dragon" (8000→8100/1000)

"Now end this Duel! "Cyberdark Dragon" wipeout his Monster and his Life Points!" Zane's Monster oncs again readies to attack. "I activate my face-down Quick Spell "Shrink"! With this card I can cut your dragon's ATK in half until the end of the turn!"

"Cyberdark Dragon" (8100→4050/1000)

"Nice try, but it still won't save you! Go, Dark Cyber Stream!" "Cyberdark Dragon" let out a mighty roar, whose rippling shockwaves disintegrates "XYZ-Dragon Cannon".

(Kaiba 3000→1750)

Kaiba is once again electrocuted by the electrodes, bringing him to his knees. "I admit I'm surprise you manage to survived that. But it doesn't matter! On my next turn I'll end you, and there's nothing you can do about it!

As Kaiba struggled stand back up, he could barely hold his anger. "Curses! He was able to counter my strategy. I was planning to Summon my "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" and use the cards in my hands to end this dual during my next turn. Now what am I supposed to do? There's no card in my Deck that can beat something with 8100 ATK. It's...over."

Suddenly Kaiba heard a voice. "Giving up?" Kaiba froze with shock. "What! Who said that?" "That's very unlike you Kaiba." Kaiba knew this voice. "Impossible! Pharaoh?" Then came another voice. "That's right Kaiba you never back down from a challenge, why start now?" "Yugi?" Then a third voice spoke. "Don't tell me your intimidated by this guy. Shouldn't be the other way around?" Kaiba groaned at the third voice. "Even you Wheeler?" Kaiba found himself floating in an empty space. Joey's voice spoke again. "So, you been cornered, doesn't mean you should quit." Yugi's voice spoke next. "That's right! Kaiba, you can't let this guy win. Not when he's disrespected the game we love and the teachings of the school you built!"

Kaiba let out a sad chuckle. "Easier said than done. I have no cards that can beat him." And finally, the Pharaoh spoke again. "Yes, there is. You just need to believe in the Heart of the Cards. And in yourself. This young man has lost his way and now walks the same path you did, and it's up to you to show him the right way." As Kaiba began to wonder if they were to wonder if they were right, a fourth voice spoke.

"Do you not have any faith in me?" Kaiba was puzzled by this new voice. He never heard it before yet it still sounded familiar. "Who are you?" The voice responded. "You seriously don't know the sound of my voice, even after all the opponents we faced together?" A blinding flash then emerged. As it died down Kaiba was stunned at what stood before him. "I don't believe it! You're..." "That's right Seto. It is I, Blue-Eyes White Dragon." Before Kaiba stood his favorite Monster, the "Blue-Eyes White Dragon"! The massive dragon stood before him with the light shining brightly on its blueish-white body, staring down at him with eyes as blue as the ocean.

"I'll ask again. Do you not have any faith in me? Or is our bond so insignificant that you discard me just as your opponent does his cards." After composing himself Kaiba answered immediately. "Wrong. I do have faith in you. Ever since I was young, I wanted you to fight by my side. At first, I thought it was the power you possess that drawn me to you, but after my little trip to Ancient Egypt with Yugi and his friends I now know the truth. Our bond was forged over 5000 years ago. A bond that transcends even lifetimes! Zane may be willing to throw away his bonds, but I won't. And I'm not about to lose to him either!"

"Blue-Eyes" acknowledged Kaiba's resolve. "Then have faith in me, and in yourself." Joey then appeared next to "Blue-Eyes". "Hurry up and kick this guy's butt already!" Then Yugi. "Show him what you're really made of." And finally, Atem. "Show him the power of those who believe in the Heart of the Cards Kaiba. It's your move."

Kaiba is than engulfed by a blinding light. As he opens his eyes, Kaiba saw he was back in the Duel with Zane, unsure if what he just experienced was real or in his head. "Are you just going stand there? Hurry up and draw your last pathetic card." Kaiba could help laugh at Zane's choice of words. "Did I say something funny, or has the realization of your impending defeat cause you to lose your mind." Kaiba manage to compose himself. "Sorry about that. It's just that you said the exact same thing I did before I'd suffer my first defeat."

Turn 4: Kaiba

"My turn."

Kaiba thought to himself as he readies to draw. "It's all coming down to this last card. Hear me my cards, I'm putting all my faith, all my trust into this final draw, don't fail me now. I draw!" Kaiba closed his eyes and took a deep breath. As he begins to open his eyes to see the card he drew, they widen. "This is it! I put my faith in my Deck and it gave me the exact card I needed!" Zane began growing frustrated with Kaiba's actions. "What are you babbling about? Whatever card you just drew it won't save you." Kaiba steeled himself "We'll see about that. I activate the Spell Card "Dragon's Mirror"! By removing the required Monsters on my Field or in my Graveyard from play, I can Fusion Summon a Dragon-Type Fusion Monster!" Zane looked on in shock. "You what!?" "From my Graveyard I banish my three "Blue-Eyes White Dragons" to combine them into a beast without equal. I Summon "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon"!" In a flash of blinding light, appeared a massive blueish-white dragon with three heads, each a black marking on their forehead and deep-blue eyes.

"Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" (4500/3800)

Zane wasn't intimidated. "Impressive, but your dragon is no match for mine." Kaiba's determination burned in his eyes. "Well then, I'll just equip my dragon with the Spell Card "Megamorph"!" Zane's expression quickly went from arrogant to fearful. "Not that card!" "I see your familiar with it. Then you should know, that since my Life Points are lower than you're my dragon's power are doubled!"

"Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon" (4500→9000/3800)

"But I'm not done, since I have my Fusion Summoned dragon on the Field, I can activate the Spell "Neutron Blast"!" Zane has never of this card before. "What does that do?" "You'll find out soon enough, but first! Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon attack his "Cyberdrak Dragon"!" The left head then fired a stream of deep blue energy at Zane's dragon. "Nice try, but when "Cyberdark Dragon" would be destroyed by battle I can have the Monster equipped to it be destroyed instead." The blast hits "Chaos Emperor Dragon" destroying it but leaves "Cyberdark Dragon" unharmed.

"Cyberdark Dragon" (8100→5100/1000)

(Zane 4000→3100)

Zane receives a shock from the electrodes for the first time since the start of the Duel, but was otherwise unfazed, while Kaiba stands and watches as his Monster being use to defend his opponent. "Using my dragon as a shield? You're going to pay for that, because thanks to "Neutron Blast's" effect my dragon can attack again!" Zane's fear grew at this fact. "It can what!?" "Go Blue-Eyes" attack "Cyberdark Dragon" once more!" This time both its left and right heads fired beams of energy at "Cyberdark Dragon" engulfing it before being erased from existence.

(Zane 3100→100)

Zane once again receives a powerful shock as his Life Points nearly drop to nothing. Despite this Zane begin to laugh manically. "Impressive! But since my Life Points are now lower than yours, "Megamorph" now causes your Monster's ATK to become half of what it originally was!"

"Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon (9000→2250/3800)"

"And seeing what cards on in my Graveyard, I know what the final card in my Deck is! "Monster Reborn"! On my next turn I'll use it to bring back my "Cyber End Dragon", who's ATK is the right amount to not only destroy your weaken "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon", but to wipeout the rest of your Life Points as well!" Zane's mad laughter continued. "Too bad for you that turn will never come." Zane's laughter suddenly ended with that comment. "Because "Neutron Blast" allows "Blue-Eyes" to attack for a third time!" Zane was now completely consumed by fear. "No!" "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon"! "End this Duel once and for all! Neutron Blast!

All three of "Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon's" heads charged up a large sphere of energy before firing it a massive stream of destructive power. Zane could only scream in terror as he was engulfed by the blast. As the dust cleared, Zane stood in disbelieve as the electrodes deliver final shock before falling to the ground in defeat.

Kaiba walks over to the defeated Zane.

"It's over. I've won."
