Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Saint and Sinner. Enjoy the 1200-word chapter. I don't own Fate/Stay Night, Type-Moon and a few others do.
Adie awoke to the sound of boots being heard in front of him. He could only blink and think of who it was. He drew his daggers from his belt and crept down from his throne towards the ground.
"Why the hell do they always make noise…?" Adie questioned while he cracked his fingers and slowly twirled his daggers. "I honestly think they just want me to be woken up just to annoy me." Adie muttered as he sighed and rubbed at his eyes.
"You will be judged by your sins." Adie heard before the sound of a sword being drawn could be heard. "And they will find you guilty unless you repent." Adie also heard before he leapt down the rest of the steps.
"I only prey on the monsters who deserve it." Adie said while scanning his surroundings. "You think I like being the villain? I accept it, because it keeps people safe…. But I believe I've heard that voice before, as you have heard mine." Adie said while closing his eyes.
He swung a single blade ahead and sparks flew from his weapon as he was thrown backwards. He dug his other blade into the ground, stopping his slide backwards while allowing him to lunge forward.
Blue eyes greeted him. He knew very well who they belonged to. Adie brought up his daggers which blocked the sword from skewering his throat.
He smirked and rolled backwards. There was only one person who personally knew him enough to plan an ambush, but it made less sense, she was a woman of honor. Something that made him far more interested in them.
"Jeanne. Jeane." Adie said while blue eyes narrowed, another swing which was deflected to the side with a hum. "I thought you fought with honor, but you strike like one of my men." Adie said which was greeted with a snort from the paladin's mouth.
"You barely showed honor last time." Jeanne stated as she faltered with the nickname Adie had gifted her. "And this time? There is no escape." Jeanne said while she and Adie circled each other.
Adie chuckled. He didn't want to escape at all, he rather enjoyed the battle with the paladin. She equaled him and gave him some measure of respect the majority of his enemies didn't. It made their encounters all the more enjoyable to him as he knew very well that she could kill him.
"You said that last time." Adie said with a hum and ducked a slice at the nape of his neck. "Just as I said your wasting your talents last time. People will not view them as a hero's deeds." Adie said while pointing one of his daggers at her.
Jeanne said nothing, she didn't want to admit what he was saying would be true. She swung her sword at Adie who leapt backwards at the moment and planted his blade in the ground.
"Did you come back to fight me… Or clear your conscious?" Adie asked while turning to the side. "Because as far as I'm concerned? It's clear, it's one of the only gleaming things in this world." Adie added while he hummed and then looked to the side.
"And you act like I don't know that?" Jeanne said while she cracked her neck. "You told me you read what I do… But you don't heed the lord." Jeanne said as Adie hummed and lunged forward with amusement dripping over his face.
He said nothing, unlike his men? Adie had some semblance of honor, faint as it was. He enjoyed dueling this woman because she often continued to put him on the defense. It was far more enjoyable when he fought someone who could match him in combat.
"I believe he said everyone should be welcomed, Lady Jeanne." Adie said while he spun his daggers in a circle at her. "Should I point out that you probably hadn't fought my soldiers. You came after me, this was personal, wasn't it?" Adie stated while he cracked a smile.
"The only personal thing which drives me is bringing you to justice!" Jeanne hissed which caused a hum from Adie as he sidestepped a lunge.
He wrapped his arm around her extended limb, holding his blade to her throat. He raised an eyebrow at her while he looked to the side while he hummed and then turned.
"This was going to be fun, and interesting." Adie and hummed while he cracked a massive smile and turned to the side.
"No, it will not… You will die here, repentance as your sins." Jeanne stated which was greeted by another hum as Adie continued blocking strikes once more.
"No, neither of us are and you know that." Adie said while he turned and continued fighting. "I will not kill one of the only champions of justice in this filth ridden city… And I will not allow you to kill me. I rather enjoy living at the moment." Adie said while twirling his daggers.
He knew for a fact that there would be something crazy when it came down to it. Adie prepared for another match with the warrior at moment. Jeanne was rather curious as to what he had said at the moment.
"Are we going to continue this fight?" Adie asked while holding up his hands at the moment. "Or are you going to stand there? Hung on the words of a 'criminal'. I only steal from criminals, people who are scum, paladin… You protect those who needed to be trusted." Adie stated while he slowly stepped backwards.
He knew for a fact that there would be something coming. This fight was going to wake up the rest of the rest of the camp.
And there was no way in the world that he'd allow any of his soldiers to attack her. Not only would they end up killing her or she them.
"We're duel again soon." Adie said before turning and retreating into the night. "When I don't have to worry about half the army interrupting things." Adie said before he leapt up towards a ledge which he pulled himself up onto.
He could only ponder what came next in their duels. There was obviously going to be a rematch, it wouldn't be soon, it was going to be intense… And there would be much enjoyment when he found out what was the cause of much of his enjoyment of today.
The promise of a rematch that he had to look forward to down the road soon enough.
"Trust me, we're fight again real soon." Adie said before turning and vanishing into the night. Jeanne said nothing and simply sheathed her sword on her hip at the moment.
