Thank you so much for all your lovely comments. I am touched to read the reviews and obviously happy that you liked the one-shot. I am not ignoring your requests but I would like to offer some explanation.
Originally, I envisioned that Jane and Mrs Bennet would be harsher in their response to Darcy. However, while I was writing it, I felt that it would be nice to have them remain polite and still observe etiquette despite Darcy's rudeness. That would show that they have class despite them being countryfolk, with less education, money, etc. I have seen a few stories where Jane was more "badass" when faced with challenges, and of course, Mrs Bennet is almost always mouthy. So I thought to make it different. Instead of giving Darcy a big shouty setdown, they did it in a firm, controlled way. Painting Mrs Bennet as someone who just marches up to Darcy and gives him an earful would be too easy. (That could be another story.)
I honestly intended this to only be a one-shot. I wanted to keep it open for readers to make up their own desired ending in their minds. I know that it can go in many different directions. This is fanfiction and we are all free to use our imagination. I have not thought hard about where I would eventually want it to go. I do have a few ideas floating around in my head and at the moment, without really planning anything, it would be a comical, light-hearted sort of story, perhaps even bordering on ridiculous at times. I am tempted to give you a hint as to what I might do with it, but I also do not want to give it away.
Perhaps some of you know I have other stories that I am still updating so I really did not plan to add another multi-chapter story (yet). The fun shorts are easy and I have some chapters already written but the longer story "Change of Plans" takes up a lot more of my time. That was supposed to be only a one-shot too and now I have written 15 chapters and over 20k words. I do not think I can do another long-ish story justice until I wrap up "Change of Plans". That might take another 1 – 2 months as work is currently very hectic.
So… if you are still up for a continuation of this one-shot by that time, then I will give it my best attempt. I am a bit worried that I might ruin the starting scene I set out so I need to have a think about what could work. I actually had other stories in mind for my next longer piece of work but it looks like this one might jump the queue.
Lastly, in case you did not know, English is my third language so please bear with any errors I am bound to commit.
