TW: BRIEF MENTIONS OF BIPHOBIA AND TRANSPHOBIA
"How's living with Momota been?" Miu asked Kokichi as the two sat down for lunch. Kokichi picked at the cafeteria food on his tray, pushing it around his plate.
"It's been fine I guess. He stays out of my way and doesn't talk to me," Kokichi says. "Except somtimes he likes to blast his god awful music at night and I can't fucking sleep."
"Sounds shitty," Miu said, stabbing at her lunch with a plastic fork. "Have you tried telling him to stop?" She asked.
"That would require actually talking to him and that's a lot of energy that I could spend doing something useful. Like not talking to him," Kokichi says. Miu sighed. "I can deal with it. It'll be fine. It's just some 80s shit it's not thatbad."
"Sounds awful," Miu says, shrugging. "You need to tell him to stop, though."
"It'll happen at some point," Kokichi said.
Kaito sat with his friend and classmate Shuichi Saihara and the boy's girlfriend Kaede Akamatsu. He watched as the blue haired boy pushed his food around his plate while the blonde girl looked up at Kaito. "So you moved in with Ouma?" She asked.
Kaito nodded. "It's been pretty nice. The little dude is pretty quiet unless Iruma and Kiibo come over. Other than that, he doesn't really come out of his room," Kaito said. "He's surprisingly calm at the house.
Kaede smiled and hummed. "Sounds nice," she says. Shuichi nodded in agreement.
"I just hope my music isn't bothering him too much..." Kaito chuckled nervously, scratching the back of his neck.
"Kaito! Let the poor boy sleep!" Kaede scolded, smacking the boy lightly on the arm.
"He hasn't said anything so I don't think he has an issue with it," Kaito said, holding his hands up defensively. "At least I don't think he does..."
Kokichi stood at the stove making ramen. He scrolled through his phone as he waited for the water to boil. He hummed a song by a band that Miu listened to as he scrolled.
"Hey Ouma!" Kaito said.
Kokichi sighed, annoyed as he slipped his phone into his pocket. "Yes Momota?" Kokichi asked, his patient tone sounding rather forced.
"Whatcha doin?" He asked. Kokichi looked at him, then to the ramen package next to him and the pot of near boiling water next to it. Kaito chuckled nervously and scracthed the back of his neck. "Stupid question. Sorry," he said.
"There is a system, Momota. I do my thing. You do yours. No talking is required in this,"Kokichi tells him, dropping the block of noodles into the now boiling water.
Kaito sighed. "Gee sorry. I just thought that we could maybe at least talk to each other if we're gonna be living together."
"Well you thought wrong. Now leave me alone and get whatever it was that you needed," Kokichi said. He turned his attention back to his ramen. Kaito sighed and walked into the kitchen, grabbed a container of cubed fruit he'd bought, and sat at the table.
Kokichi hummed a song to himself as he stirred the noodles in the pot. The song was one that he'd heard Kaito play from his room. Kaito looked up at Kokichi and raised a brow, a smirk tugging up the edges of his mouth. Kokichi shot a glare at Kaito and stopped humming, feeling his cheeks heat up. He emptied the soup packet into the water and noodles and continued stirring the ramen, humming a new song. Kaito tapped his foot to the tune and smiled to himself. Kokichi poured the ramen into a bowl and headed into his room to work on homework.
He shut the door and put the ramen on his desk and took off his uniform, taking his binder off too, setting it on his bed. He threw on a large band tee he'd stolen from an ex and threw on a large hoodie over that. It was a hoodie that Miu had gotten him and in small print across the chest read text said 'bottom bitch.' Although he would never let Miu know it, it was one of his favorite hoodies.
Kokichi worked on his homework as he ate his ramen well into the night, forgetting about his bowl of ramen a good hour after beginning his homework. After a few hours, Kaito's music played through the small house and Kokichi gripped his pencil, annoyed. He stood, pushing away from his desk. He angrily headed to Kaito'a room and threw the door open. "Can you fucking shut-"
Kokichi froze as he looked up at Kaito who looked like a mess. The older boy wiped the tears off of his face and grabbed his phone, pausing the music. "Oh was my music bothering ya?" Kaito asked, sniffling. "Sorry didn't mean to keep you up."
Kokichi looked at the boy. He thought of all the things he could do. He could take a video and show it to everyone at school letting them know what a cry baby Kaito was. He could tease Kaito and call him names. But he didn't do any of these things. Instead he asked, "...you like stars and space and shit right?"
Kaito looked at him. "Y...yeah why?" Kaito asked.
Kokichi turned away and motioned for Kaito to follow him. Kaito followed the smaller boy as he headed outside.
Kokichi lead Kaito behind the house and climbed up a ladder. Kaito followed him up and watched as Kokichi crawled across the roof to a blanket and small speaker that was laid there. Kaito followed Kokichi and sat next to where Kokichi laid on the roof.
"Lay down fucking idiot," Kokichi said. Kaito laid by Kokichi and looked up at the night sky. The stars were bright and shone down at the two boys. Kaito grinned up at the view. He glanced to where Kokichi lay next to him, his arms folded behind his head and his gaze focused up on the sky. Kaito turned his attention back up to the sky.
"Why'd she dump you?" Kokichi asked after a while of silence.
Kaito was shocked at the question and looked at Kokichi who's gaze was still focused up on the sky. He sighed and ran a hand through his hair, sitting up. "She dumped me because of something I told her.." Kaito said.
Kokichi sat up as well and looked at Kaito. "What'd you tell her? There seriously can't be anything worse than youin general," Kokichi said.
Kaito rolled his eye and laughed a bit at Kokichi's response. "I told her I was bi," Kaito muttered, burying his face in his knees.
Kokichi looked at Kaito, frowning. He reached out to rest a hand on the boy's shoulder, but pulled his hand away. "So we're in the same boat, huh?" Kokichi hummed.
"What??" Kaito asked, looking at Kokichi.
"Parents kicked me out for being trans," Kokichi said.
Kaito stared at him. "You're trans???" Kaito asked, shocked. "So you're like, a girl who's a boy????" Kaito asked. "But you look so much like a guy?? I seriously couldn't tell," Kaito laughed.
Kokichi smiled a bit as Kaito said that. "You can totally do better than a trashy skank like that bitch you were dating," Kokichi said.
Kaito laughed and the two laid back down on the roof, watching the stars a bit longer in a comfortable welcomed silence. After an hour, the two headed back inside to get some sleep.
Kaito read the note Kokichi left on his night stand, yawning as he'd just woken up. Miu had come by to get Kokichi so the two could get breakfast at the nearby cafe with Kiibo. Kaito opened the door to go and get ready in the bathroom. He stepped on something soft and looked down to see what was on the ground.
On the ground was a bisexual pride flag with a sticky not on top of it. 'I have tons so don't think you're special.' Kokichi had written. Kaito flipped it over to the back and saw, in small writing on the bottom 'P.S. she probably had an STD.'
Kaito chuckled and set the flag on his bed, heading to the bathroom to get ready for the day.
