Sandy watched the primitively dressed hedgehog throw out a large animal skin on the floor near the fire before he took a seat on a makeshift bed, that was located in close proximity to the firepit. The small bed was covered with other pelts likely made from large beasts that man had slaughtered.

"Sit." He commanded as he pointed to the skin he had just laid out near the welcoming warmth of the fire.

"Thank ya." Sandy slightly bowed before taking a seat as she just now realized how cold he had been thanks to the heat of the blazing fire. She was thankful most of the mud that still covered he was now dry, but the wet conditions she had just endured had truly set into body vengefully. "Sorry about me jumping on ya before. My temper gets da best of me at times."

The male looked at her silently for a moment before turning his attention back to the fire. "Get some rest, because I plan to have you on your way come sun rise." The man then laid down and turned his back on her.

"Sweet dream ta you, too." Sandy mumbled as she too laid down but choosing to keep facing the warmth of the fire.

By the time Sandy finally opened her eyes, to her host grabbing her arm to eagerly relieve himself of her company, she felt like she'd gotten maybe ten minutes of sleep, and had managed to also get hit by a bus. Her whole body screamed as she forced herself to move likely due to the large fall, she had taken only hours before. The black and red quilled man looked at her large backpack with interest as he held it out for her to take.

Sandy moaned unintentional as the weight of the pack assaulted her sore arms. "Thanks." She sighed as she started to strap it to herself. She looked up after lacking all the belts and was surprised to see the man looking at her in amazement.

"Where did you get that sack?" He asked as he started to look at it closer.

Sandy thought about it for a moment, as her brain wasn't up to its usual speed due to lack of sleep and physical fatigue. "Umm... I think I got it at REI a few years back."

"I've never heard of that city." The man counited to look at her and her belongings as he started to circle her.

"It ain't a city." She now smiled at him somewhat amused by his lack of knowledge about things she didn't really consider taking for granted. "It's a store back home in da States. I'm sure there is likely a few down here too."

"States?" He questioned.

"Yeah. The United States. I'm from Texas myself. No offence, but I just figured you were from up north too considering ya speak English and don't seem ta have an accent of any kind." Sandy followed him to the surprisingly well-made wooden wall and door at the cave entrance.

"I'm from the east." He responded as he held the door open for her to exit.

"Well, Mr. I'm-from-da-east thank ya for letting me stay here and get warm fer da night." She turned and gave him a genuine smile as he closed the door to his dwelling and walked up to her. Her face gave way to a small blush as she held her hand out to shake his, only now finally taking in how much better looking he was in the light of day. "My name is Sandy and ya at the very least saved me from a nasty cold."

The hedgehog looked down at her hand a bit confused for a moment before looking up at her face as he reluctantly held out his hand and engaged in her offered pleasantry. "Shadow." He stated as he pulled his hand away from hers after she finally let go. He looked down at his hand still a bit confused before looking back up at her. "I'll take you back to where I found you, so you can find your way back to your people."

"I uh... actually made this trip by myself." She chimed in as she followed behind him. "I ain't due ta head back to the States fer another few days."

"I don't care where you go as long as it's away from here and back to your kind." He glanced back at her briefly before turning his attention to the path ahead of them.

Sandy looked around a bit shocked about how lush the surrounding had become. They must have wondered further than she though as most of her drive and hike was mainly desert. "My kind?" She questioned while laughing under her breath. "Ya have something against us American's? Guess, yer not the only one."

"I'm not familiar with your family name, but you are no tribesman and have no business near what little land we're allowed to still occupy."

"American ain't my family name. I'm starting ta wonder if I'm the only one that hit my head last night."

Shadow seemed to grow tired of their conversation as he stopped responding to her as they continued to walk. After about an hour they finally came to the end of the wooded area. The thick underbrush continued out a way but the trees became very scare as the ground started giving way to more large patches of bare dirt.

Nothing looked familiar to her, although she had been traveling a good part of her hike in the dark, even the color of the now barren landscape didn't look right. Shadow finally spoke as few large hills came into view.

"That's where I found you." He pointed to a gap in between the two larger hills about midway up.

"What da heck were ya doing out here during a storm in da middle of the night, anyway?" She questioned before realizing it was really none of her business.

"Praying." The man responded simply as he continued to lead their way.
