Early in the morning, Miriam get in Matthew's laboratory, finding her boss already there.

"Matthew, have you been here all night?"

"They are witches, Miriam, powerful if their family is any indication".

"Who is?" Miriam questioned without understand who he was talking about.

"The women I overheard outside of the Bodleian. They are direct descendants of Bridget Bishop, the first woman to be executed at the Salem witch trials" Matthew explained.

"You think what happened yesterday was witchcraft?"

"I don't know, one of them, Diana Bishop, took an alchemy manuscript. An Ashmole manuscript." Matthew said showing Miriam a picture of Diana.

"What about the other one? You said they were two." Miriam questioned.

"Yes. Kate Bishop Williams, biochemistry." he showed a picture of Kate "Nothing makes sense about her" he added.

"Why?" Miriam questioned intrigued.

"First of all, her last name. If they are sisters her last name should be Bishop not Williams". He explained.

"Maybe she is married" Miriam suggested.

"There is no record of that. Or… of a second birth in the Bishop family".

"Alright, that suspicious. Some had a lot of trouble hiding her existence" Miriam reflected.

"Exactly what I thought" Matthew said.

"And you think that they found Ashmole 728? Come on, Matthew. It's not possible".

"Why?"

"Because you have been looking for that book for over 100 years" Miriam answered.

"Longer. Ever since I began to believe that it could help us understand your origins" Matthew explained.

"It's missing. It's always been missing. How could this witches have found it?" Miriam questioned.

"Perhaps it hasn't missing. Perhaps it has waiting" he said mysterious.

"For each one?"

"One of them. Maybe both" Matthew answered looking at Kate's and Diana's pictures on his computer.

Meanwhile in the apartment of Diana and Kate.

"Diana! Diana! Wake up!" Kate shake her sister off her nightmare.

Diana woke up suddenly, pulling herself up and head-butting Kate "Au!".

"I'm so sorry, K" Diana apologized.

"Are you ok? What was the nightmare about?" the younger one questioned.

"It was weird. My dad was on it and spiders. I was trapped in cobwebs."

"Ok, that's creepy. Maybe it was the stress of yesterday." Kate analyzed and added "You really should talk with my moms about it" the younger one suggested.

Diana sighed and nodded picking up her phone and calling her aunt Sarah.

"Hello?" Sarah answered.

"Hey, it's me".

"And me, morning mom" Kate added greeting her mother.

"Hey, are you both alright? It's 5 o'clock in the morning" Sarah questioned worried.

"We are fine, mom" Kate said trying to tranquilize her mom.

"I know, I'm sorry. Something happened" Diana answered.

"What happened, honey?" Sarah questioned.

"We were in the Bodleian studying and I picked up a manuscript, but it was bewitched or something"

"Was it a grimoire?"

"It was an Ashmole manuscript, it had alchemical illustrations"

"What else?"

"Words moving under the pages. I couldn't read it".

"I was next to Diana but I didn't saw any words" Kate added.

"It may be a magical object, Kate. Probably, only witches could see it". Sarah explained to her daughter.

"Diana, how did you unraveled the spell? Did you said any words?"

"There wasn't any witchcraft involved, Sarah. You know I refuse to practice. I couldn't wait to get rid of it. I returned it"

"What!? Diana, we always told you if you ever come across something magical you should always try to understand it. "

Kate seeing that the conversation would turn into a discussion again went to the kitchen make coffee, leaving her sister and her mother Sarah talking.

After talking with her aunt Sarah, Diana went to the kitchen where Kate handover a cup of coffee.

"What did she said?" Kate questioned.

"That I should hadn't had returned the book, that I need to face that I'm a witch and that I shouldn't hide in my work. Em congratulated me for the possible job in Oxford".

"You know my mom means well, right? It's just that when she gets worried, she is a little explosive" Kate explained trying to calm Diana and make her not be so angry with her mother.

"I know" Diana signed.

"So, what are we going to do?" the browned hair questioned.

"I'm going to the Bodleian. I have a paper to finish." Diana said.

"So… move on like nothing happened. Got it" Kate rectified pointing at her sis who smiled with her younger sister way of being.

The sisters got out of their apartment and went to the library. But halfway Kate left her sister for a few minutes to go to a shop.

When Kate arrived to the Bodleian she saw her sister looking around.

"Hey, what are you looking for?" she asked when she get close to the table.

"I meet a vampire". Diana answered.

"A vampire? Are you ok? How was he?" Kate inquired sitting facing Diana.

"I'm fine. He didn't do anything. He gave me is card" she said delivering the card to Kate.

"Professor Matthew Clairmont? The biochemistry whose articles inspired me and made me choose biochemistry as my life's profession? That Matthew Clairmont?" Kate questioned excited.

"So that why his name was so familiar" Diana said.

"I can't believe my idol is a vampire" Kate reflected reclining in the chair "Tell me from the beginning what happened".

"I was trying to get a book, when accidently I do magic and it flew to the floor. But he picked it up. He made compliments to my articles and he knew I'm witch." Diana told her sister.

After being on the library working on their projects the Bishop sisters got out of the Bodleian unaware of the vampire watching them from a roof.

Kate and Diana went to the Brown's café to eat something and research more information about Matthew Clairmont, although Kate was giving more information to her sister than the internet, when the vampire they were talking about walked in.

"Anything of interest?" Matthew asked behind them.

"You're following me" Diana accused, looking at the men leaning over a balcony.

"Well we work on the same place it isn't strange that our paths cross again." He said looking at Diana when he notice the brunette sitting next to her.

"I believe we haven't meet. Professor Matthew Clairmont, is a pleasure to meet you, Dr. Williams" Matthew said getting closer and extending his hand to Kate who reluctantly accepted.

"You investigated us" Kate accused him, but he didn't deny it.

"Hmm, that's interesting" Matthew reflected after he let go of Kate's hand. The vampire had learned something about the brunette.

"I checked with the staff of the Bod you were in and out of there in five minutes max. You were looking for me not because you enjoyed my thesis on Robert Boyle. What do you want, Professor Clairmont?" Diana questioned with the purpose of deflecting the vampire's attention of her little sister.

"That's a fair question" he said while pulled a chair and sat down.

"You call up an Ashmole manuscript earlier this week and something happened, something that disturb you. Was it Ashmole 728? I'm assuming that you use magic to retrieve it as your sister is obviously human" he said the last part looking at Kate who stayed uncomfortable with the fact that he knew she was human. So that was the thing he founded interesting about Kate.

"Why do you care? Alchemy isn't your area" Diana pointed.

"This is about something more than just alchemy. Where is the manuscript now?"

"Where always is. You can't take books out of the Bodleian" Diana said while pack her and her sister's things "Excuse me".

"Dr. Bishop, please ear me out "he begged "No one have seen that book in a very long time and it's not just me who wants it. The word is spreading. It may be safer for you…and for your sister if the creatures of Oxford knew that is no longer in your possession." Matthew said serious.

"Is that a threat?" Diana questioned.

"No. It's a warning. You both need to be careful" the vampire advise.

"We will be" Diana said getting up.

"Goodbye, Professor Clairmont" Kate said following her sister thought the door.

The Bishop Sisters returned to the Bodleian library to keep working on their projects. When the Bod closed Diana asked her sister "Do you want to go out for a drink?"

"Sorry, sis. Right now all I want to do is sleep" Kate said tired "But I know exactly you could go with you" she added with a malicious smile.

"Hey Sean? You look like you need a drink. Go with Diana" Kate ordered smiling.

"Be careful going home" Diana advice worried.

"Don't worry, sis. Have fun!" Kate said as she walked away from the library.

The next day Kate and Diana went to the Bodleian like many other days but there was something different: Matthew Clairmont was there and they sit next to each other facing him

"Good morning" he says.

"Professor Clairmont" the sister said at the same time which made them look smiley to each other. This exchange didn't pass unnoticed by the men on the table.

"I'm sorry. Am I bothering you?" Matthew asked Diana a few moments later after saw her snort.

"No. Just surprise that you find the south exposure so comfortable" she said with a small smile.

"You don't believe in everything you read, do you?" he asked.

"Dr. Williams may I ask what is your latest project?" the professor questioned looking at the quiet younger Bishop.

Kate raise her head from her computer to answer her idol "It's a new article about DNA".

"What specifically?" he said curious.

"Well that will be revealed after I publish it, Professor Clairmont" Kate said cold.

"Alright then" Matthew said and added to Diana "I thought that you my like some company. The library is full today, many witches here. Do you see?"

Diana turned around seeing Gillian.

"So what? They often work here" the blonde defended.

"They are here to watch you, maybe both of you. I did warn you that other creatures will be interested in you two".

"They are looking at us because we're talking to you" Diana accused "They aren't the problem".

Diana and Kate were picked up their things when Matthew said "Leaving so soon?"

"Yes" Diana said.

Kate and Diana were already outside the Bodleian when Gillian run to catch them.

"Diana, Kate, hey" she greeted "That was a vampire".

"Yes, he was" Kate rolled her eyes to Gillian's obvious observation.

"What was he doing in the library?" Gillian questioned.

"Look, Gillian. We don't have time for this, we have a lot of work to do" Kate said, without patience, before her sister could keep talking with Gillian.

"You really should be nicer" Diana said as they walked away.

In the afternoon Diana went for a run and to row. She only get home when was already dark and Kate was waiting for her at the dinner table.

"Hey, are you ok?" she questioned worried once the notice that Diana locked a little frightened.

Diana told Kate about her meeting with Matthew Clairmont over dinner. They kept talking about him, without knowing how he will be such an important part of their lives.
