Chapter Two: Wally West
Cars and motorcycles lined both sides of the road going as far as the eye could see. And still some latecomers were arriving.
They approached a red mustang and Lynn remote unlocked the doors. She motioned for Wally to get in the front passenger seat while she sat in the driver's seat.
There was a large dash screen mounted on her dashboard. She double-tapped the screen and Jeff's face appeared. He had a small neat afro, high cheekbones and a light stubble.
"Wally, I'm Black Lightning or you can just call me Jeff."
"Jeff it's a pleasure to meet you. How did you find out who I am?" Wally wasn't necessarily a part of the Justice League nor did he come to their meetings. He only knew some of the identities of the Justice League members he had worked with in the past-not including Jeff's until now of course.
Lynn and Jeff burst out laughing.
Lynn turned her head in Wally's direction. "Boy do you really think we're a couple of amateurs?"
"Anyway," Jeff started, "on a more serious note we wanted to bring your attention to a person who's been terrorizing this city."
A map of Toronto downtown replaced Jeff's place. It showed different neighbourhoods and each dot was numbered. The dots were in a cluster at the southern part of the city close to Lake Ontario.
"We're unable to pinpoint exactly where this metahuman will strike. Yet, the dots show he's consistently been coming to Queens Quay West and Simcoe St. He stays within a kilometer parameter of that intersection," Jeff informed.
"He's very specific with his time," Lynn added. "Reports of this metahuman's sightings are often on Saturdays from 3-4 p.m. "
"I think I've seen him a few times on the news." Wally sat up straighter. He was intrigued. "What can this guy do?"
"Weather control," Jeff blew up a blurry image. The skyline of Toronto was only partially visible, the rest of it had been consumed by thick grey clouds. In the center, was a tornado which stretched into the sky.
Jeff zoomed in on the base of the tornado, and right next to it was the figure of a man. His face was indistinct.
"He looks a bit more menacing than your typical pick-pocketer," Wally joked, although deep down he was getting a bit anxious.
"So far he hasn't hurt a single soul. Thankfully," Jeff sighed. "Yet he does terrify the people and admittedly we don't know the man's potential."
"So y'all want me to bring him in or what?" Wally prodded, cutting to the chase.
"Well not exactly," Lynn chuckled. "That would probably be a death wish for you."
Wally narrowed his eyes.
"Instead," Lynn continued oblivious to his facial expression. "We just want you to follow him from a safe distance, maybe we can find out where he goes and if he works with anyone."
"And one last thing," Jeff started excitedly. "You're going to be in the latest Flashsuit designed by myself with the help of S.T.A.R. Labs. Lynn will leave it with you shortly. Toronto needs the Flash now."
Lynn stared at Wally. "It's been a while since you last suited up. You got this?"
"Yeah I can do this," Wally affirmed confidently.
