I am so, so, so, so, SO sorry that this update took so FREAKING LONG! School got dicey, and that had to take first priority over this. But, after a few all-nighters I managed to finally get this out! It's like 10 pages on my google doc lol
Anyways, I hope you enjoy and I will do my best to get the next chapter out as soon as I can!
Disclaimer: I don't own GF
"So, how are we supposed to get a fancy tiara that is currently being shown at a posh Northwest party?" Mabel asks, later that day. She sits in the gift shop of the Mystery Shack, as the twins cover Wendy's shift for a bit.
"I'm not sure. It would be hard to sneak in and steal it during the party, and who knows how long it will be shown before and after it." Dipper says, chewing on a pen and brainstorming ideas.
"Not to mention the fact that it will probably be under careful supervision, BWAP!" Mabel adds on, slapping a sequined sticker onto Dipper's idea page.
"It's impossible! We're never going to get into that party!" Dipper bangs his head against the table, groaning in frustration.
"You could just get invited." A voice says, behind the twins. They whip their heads to the entrance of the Shack and find Pacifica sheepishly standing there.
"Pacifica!" Mabel cries, bounding over and giving her bully-turned-friend a big hug. Pacifica awkwardly smiles and pats Mabel on the back. Dipper chuckles as he watches this scene, before standing up himself and moving to greet Pacifica.
"Hey! How's it going?" He asks, waving hello.
"Not bad. My parents are being so annoying though about this big ball they are throwing - the one I think you guys were just talking about?"
"Oh! Uh, yeah. You see…uh, we saw an ad for the party in the newspaper and thought it might be fun to go, or whatever." Dipper stammers, trying to find an excuse to be talking about the party without giving away the fact that he wants to steal their priceless tiara.
"Well in that case, I could totally get you guys tickets!"
"Really? Just like that? Nothing we need to do to get them, no favors we owe you?" Mabel asks, skeptical.
"No strings, no favors, nothing. I know we started off this summer on the wrong foot, and I was kind of a jerk to you guys - especially you, Mabel - but I really want to make things up to you! Mabel, you're silly but that's what makes you fun to hang out with! And Dipper, after you helped me overcome my fear of my parents, and helped me defy them I knew you were someone worth getting close to." Pacifica looks at the ground, blushing. Dipper feels his own face heat up and awkwardly rubs the back of his head.
"Thanks, Paz!" Mabel cries, breaking the silence.
" 'Paz'? "
"Yeah, Paz! A new nickname for you! Do you like it?"
"I guess I could get used to it."
"Great! Now about those tickets?"
"Of course! The party is in three days, so I'll make sure to get two tickets to you guys before then. There's only one catch…" Pacifica looks up at Dipper nervously and he raises an eyebrow, his own nerves starting to activate.
"What is it?" He asks.
"Well…you see…it's an all girl party. So to get in, you'd need to dress and act like a girl."
Three days until the party
"Lesson one -"
"Is this really necessary?" Dipper asks, interrupting Pacifica. She walks around the attic-turned-bedroom, looking Dipper up and down.
"Yes. You need to know how to act like a proper lady who was raised by a rich, high-end family."
"Why doesn't Mabel need these lessons? She may be a girl but she's far from 'rich and high-end'."
"Well, she's…Mabel. And there's really no changing her. You, on the other hand, are a blank slate."
"Wow. I feel flattered." Dipper says sarcastically. He hears a thud in the closet and he looks over to see Mabel pulling out a giant box stuffed to the brim with all sorts of dresses, accessories, and make-up. Oh boy, Dipper thinks, This is going to be fun.
"Here," She says, throwing a pile of clothes at Dipper, "Put these on."
"Do I have to?"
"Do you want to attend this party and save our grunkles' relationship?"
"Ugh fine." Dipper walks over to the closet and changes, struggling to figure out how to get the frilly dress on. Finally he walks out in a short, pink dress with way too many ruffles to count. On his head he wears a long, feathery hat thing that he doesn't know the name of.
"Hm, no that won't work." Pacifica says, judging him. She moves over to the box of dresses and starts to shuffle through it herself. "We need something more like…this."
Dipper takes the garment and goes back into the closet to try it on. A few moments later he walks out, his mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water.
"How-how do you guys breathe in this?!"
"Simple," Pacifica says, shrugging nonchalantly, "We don't." Dipper gapes at her as Mabel laughs in agreement. Dang, he thinks, girls really are tough. Not that I ever doubted that, of course. He watches as his sister and friend hunch over the box, searching for the perfect disguise.
"AHA!" Mabel and Pacifica say in unison. They stand up and hold a dress up for Dipper to see. He wrinkles his nose but reluctantly takes it and makes his way back to the closet once more. He tugs the dress on and steps back out for the girls to see.
It's fitted, but not too tight. And if Dipper was being honest, he might even call it comfortable. The fabric is a gorgeous purple gradient, with a lighter purple near the top slowly shifting to darker hues. It wraps around one shoulder and the other one remains bare. The top of the bodice has silver sequins, adding a dazzling sparkle any time Dipper moves. The skirt of the dress is flowy and when he spins, the fabric floats with him. Near his knee, the skit splits, leaving an opening for the bottom half of his leg to peek through. It doesn't necessarily seem like something a twelve-year-old should wear, but if Pacifica says this is what all the rich kids wear, then Dipper is just going to have to roll with it.
"You look perfect!" Mabel exclaims, clapping her hands. She grabs her sequin gun off the floor and starts to approach her brother. "Maybe just a few more sparkles though…"
"No, bad Mabel. Drop the gun." Dipper says, swatting the gun from her hand. She laughs and pulls another gun from behind her back, hidden where Dipper didn't notice it. He yelps and starts running around the room while Mabel chases him, cackling evilly. Pacifica rolls her eyes then steps between the two maniacs.
"Guys, c'mon we have less than three days to turn Dipper into the 'perfect girl'. Now he may look like a girl in a dress, but we have to see if he can act the part."
Two days before the party
"Okay, here are the tickets for you guys. My mother said I could invite a couple of friends, but I don't think she meant you guys!" Pacifica giggles as she hands Dipper an envelope with the concealed tickets. He gratefully takes it and shoves it in his vest for safe-keeping.
"So how do I become this 'perfect little rich girl'?" Dipper asks. Pacifica smiles and steps out of the door frame to reveal a large chalkboard with lesson plans and notes scrawled across it. How did we not notice that? Dipper wonders, staring in awe at the very full board.
"First, we need to make sure you know how to walk like a girl."
"Really that's it?" Dipper asks, confused.
"Yes, but you have to do it in these." Pacifica holds up a pair of tall, purple heels - the same color as Dippers dress.
"Psh, piece of cake!" Dipper gloats, snatching the shoes from Pacifica and slipping them on. He winces as he slides them fully on, his toes feeling as if they were being smushed together. He stands and takes a step forward. The second he places his foot down, his ankle twists the other way and he crashes to the ground, groaning.
"Piece of cake, huh?" Pacifica smirks down at him, enjoying his pain immensely.
"Well, I was just getting used to them. This time I'll get it." Dipper grabs onto the counter and stands back up. He wobbles for a moment before finding his balance. He hesitantly takes a step forward, this time making sure to slowly shift his weight. He successfully takes that first step, and giddily he rushes to take the second. He puts his foot down too fast, and it goes sliding out from under him. Dipper goes spiraling to the ground for a second time in under five minutes.
"Ha! Nice try, pine tree! But I don't think at the actual party you're going to have time to calculate your every step."
"You don't have to enjoy this so much."
"Oh yes I do. This is the most entertaining thing that's happened to me since we defeated that ghost."
"Wow, really?"
"Yes, really. Now get back up so I can watch you fall again!" Pacifica laughs and Dipper's heart speeds up. He smiles softly at her, loving to see her so relaxed and at ease. And if him falling down is what gets her to make that beautiful sound, then Dipper will gladly fall again and again.
A few hours later, and Dipper can proudly say that he can successfully walk in heels. He can even do it with a book on his head! Pacifica says that it helps with posture, and while he does believe it, Dipper also thinks she did it to see how ridiculous he looks while waltzing around with a book on his head. Pacifica also taught him some common poses girls do while standing and how to look confident while doing it. Dipper's always felt a bit self-conscious in his body, so Pacifica's lesson actually helped him - whether he has to be a girl or not.
Now he is currently sitting at the edge of his bed, anxiously waiting to see what kind of lesson Mabel has planned for him.
"Who's ready to PAR-TAY!" Mabel shouts, bursting through the attic door. She throws sparkles and confetti into the air and twirls around, giggling. Dipper smiles and brushes off some of his hair, as the glitter and paper scraps fall onto him.
"What am I going to learn today, Teach?"
"How to be cheerful and happy like me!" Mabel puts one hand on her hip and with the other she pokes her cheek, smiling brightly.
"I'm very cheerful," Dipper says, crossing his arms and slumping down on his bed. Mabel just raises an eyebrow at him. "Okay fine, you have a point. How can I be more happy like you?"
"Well for one, you want to act like everything is a glass half full! Be optimistic about every aspect of life. You see some grass? Go roll in it and shout 'yay grass!' You see something dull and boring? Slap some glitter or stickers on it! Especially if it's someone's face!" Mabel laughs and puts a cat sticker on Dipper's face. He giggles with her, and she smiles, loving to see him so happy.
"I think I can do that." Dipper says. He stands up and walks to the rug in the middle of the room. He looks back to Mabel and she nods encouragingly. "Woah, what a neat rug!" He exclaims. Dipper lets himself collapse onto the rug, until he's laying down on it face-up. He gives his best smile before doing snow-angels in the rug's fibers.
"That's the spirit!" Mabel shouts, plopping down next to him and creating snow-angels of her own. The twins laugh, unsure of when the last time they could have this much fun was. Usually that fun is accompanied by some life-threatening adventure. But for once, they can just be the twelve-year-old kids they are.
They laugh until they can't breathe, and wheezing, they slowly stand back up. Next, Mabel grabs Waddles and places him in the center of the room. She gestures for Dipper to stand back with a wave of her hand.
"The next thing you need to learn is how to compliment other girls and make them feel good. Nobody likes it when a girl gets picked on because of how she looks, or how much she weighs." Mabel frowns sadly and stares off into space. After a few moments she shakes her head to clear her thoughts and plasters her smile right back on, although now it seems a little bit more forced than before.
"Are you okay?" Dipper asks, concerned. He knows some people back home didn't like Mabel for how she looked, but he didn't think she let it get to her. But maybe he was wrong.
"Yeah, yeah I'm fine." Mabel says, turning back to Waddles. "Now here is how you properly compliment another girl: Hi Waddles! My goodness, your hair looks so good today! It really frames your face nicely!"
"Oink! Oink!" Waddles says, lifting his front hoof slightly and tossing his head back as if he were doing a hair flip. Mabel coos and rushes to give him a big hug.
"Awww what a good pig! You're the best Waddles! Okay now Dipper, you try!" Mabel gets up and moves away from Waddles, gesturing for Dipper to step up. He cracks his knuckles and walks up to the pig, ready to compliment the heck out of him.
"Good to see you Waddles! Did you do something new with your mud-baths? Because your skin is downright glowing! Oh and I love your outfit! It really brings out your eyes!"
"Oink! Oink!" Waddles strikes another pose and this time it's Dipper's turn to 'aww'.
"Woo-hoo! Way to go Dip Dop! You've successfully complemented a pig! Now just use that attitude at the party, and you should be good to go!" Mabel jumps over to her brother and gives him a big hug. Maybe I can do this, Dipper thinks, smiling in his sister's embrace.
"What about his voice?" Paz asks, walking into the room, interrupting the sibling moment.
"What do you mean? What's wrong with my voice?"
"Shouldn't you try to make it sound more feminine?"
"Nah, Dip-Dop's voice is plenty high and squeaky!" Mabel says laughing. Dipper squeaks in indignation and lightly punches her arm. Pacifica joins them in laughing and the three of them end the day rolling on the floor in mirth.
One day before the party
"Now that you know how to walk and talk like a girl, you need to look like one. We've already got your outfit planned, but now we need to fix…all this." Pacifica waves her hand around and gestures to Dipper's face.
"What's that supposed to mean?" He asks, thoroughly offended.
"She means that your face isn't totally adorable like mine!" Mabel says, giving her cutest smile and puppy dog eyes.
"Nothing a little makeup-magic can't fix though!" Pacifica triumphantly whips out a whole box full of different makeup supplies that she had hidden behind her back.
"Wait what?"
"Now of course, we'll just be experimenting a bit today. Tomorrow night we'll have to do it all over again, but that's okay!"
"But-"
"Hmm, I want to keep it simple. Maybe I should do it similar to mine. What do you think Mabel?"
"Guys-"
"Yeah! You can do pretty purple makeup like yours to match the dress he's going to be wearing! Oh, and I have hair extensions we can use too!"
"That's perfect! Then his hair will be long and flowy, and we can style it however we want and-"
"GUYS!" Dipper finally shouts. The girls turn to him and he crosses his arms, "There is absolutely no way you are getting me to wear makeup!"
Mabel and Pacifica look at each other before bursting out in laughter. Pacifica walks behind Dipper and grabs him by the shoulders, gently guiding him to a stool in the middle of the room. He sits down confused as Pacifica and Mabel slowly stalk towards them, makeup brushes in hand.
"You're adorable," Pacifica states, giggling, "You think you have a choice!"
"ATTACK PIG!" Mabel shouts, throwing Waddles onto Dipper's lap. He instinctively catches the pig, and Waddles just curls up and goes limp, preventing Dipper from moving. Pacifica grabs a medium-small brush with a rounded edge and dips it into a light tan color - almost the color of his skin.
"What are you doing?"
"I'm applying foundation. This is to keep your skin color looking even, and without any of the red blotches you get when you're sweaty." Pacifica drags the brush across Dipper's face, and he squirms as it tickles. "Stop moving. This will only make it take longer."
"I can't! It tickles!"
"C'mon bro-bro! Toughen it out! Do it for the mystery!" Mabel encourages. Pacifica removes the brush from his face and he takes a deep breath, focusing on one of the many smaller mysteries he has yet to solve. Like, how can he get his uncles to get along like they used to?
"Okay, now I'm going to apply the contour. This will help shape your face to look more regal." Pacifica takes out a bigger brush with a slightly angled tip and brushes it through a darker powder. Dipper takes one more deep breath then wills himself to stay perfectly still, even as the bristles of the brush tickle his face. He feels Pacifica brush the contour up underneath his cheekbones, and around his hairline. Sha dabs at the edges of his nose a bit, and gently brushes along his jawline.
"Now it's time for bronzer." Pacifica grabs a fluffy, medium sized brush and dips it in the darkest brown powder Dipper's seen yet. He internally cringes, imagining what a mess his face will look like afterwards.
Pacifica takes the brush and drags it along his face, following his cheekbones as well, slightly above where she put the contour. She then applies some along the sides of his nose, following the bone.
"Finally, it's time to add the highlights." Pacifica grabs yet another brush - this time a thin, fan-like brush. She dips this one in a really light, almost white powder. She brushes it along his forehead, browline and bridge of his nose. He subconsciously leans into her touch as she brushes the highlight right above his cheekbones. If Dipper is being completely honest, he actually likes the feel of these brushes. Sure, they might tickle, but Pacifica's careful precision and light touch makes them almost feel relaxing.
Pacifica adss a few more touches of highlight above his upper lip and one his chin before stepping back and nodding to herself. She squints and looks at Dipper's face then starts to put away the supplies she just used.
"Wow, are we done already?" Dipper asks, surprised it went by so fast. Honestly if that's all he has to do tomorrow night, then he thinks he will be just fine.
"Oh, that's not even close. I just finished setting the back layer for your makeup. I haven't even started with your actual look yet. Now hold still, I need to blend this all in." Pacifica takes a large, fluffy brush out of her bag and starts to swish it around Dipper's face, moving in quick, small circles. He wrinkles his nose as his face is squished and twisted in all sorts of directions.
Pacifica finally pulls away and holds up a mirror for him to see. Dipper looks…almost exactly the same. Some of his features - like his cheekbones - look slightly more prominent and his nose and forehead look a bit smaller, but other than that he still looks like Dipper. Is this what girls do every time they go somewhere? He wonders, a new respect for women starting to creep through.
"Woo-hoo! Now time for the good stuff!" Mabel cries out, grabbing some of her own makeup. She pulls out a container of colorful powders that Dipper is guessing is eyeshadow. She also grabs a handful of different lip gloss tubes. Pacifica plucks the eyeshadow container out of Mabel's hands and shows it to Dipper.
"Now which color do you like, violet or royal purple?" She asks, pointing between powders.
"Uh, they look the same?"
"No, they don't. This one is obviously darker."
"Oh, okay, well then I guess I'll try royal purple?"
"Good choice!" Pacifica hands him the container and rummages through her makeup bag. She pulls out a small brush with a slightly pointed tip and walks back over to Dipper. She takes the eyeshadow box from him and dabs the brush in it. She taps off any excess powder and gets to work.
Dipper closes his eyes, and he feels Pacifica gently brush over them in even strokes. It feels weird to have something move over his eye, even if they are closed. But it also feels soothing too. Pacifica switches between eyes, making sure the color is as even as it can be.
"Done!" She says, pulling away. Diaper slowly blinks open his eyes and grabs the mirror. He raises his eyebrows as he stares at the beautiful color his eyelids are.
"Wow, this is really good!"
"Thanks! Now we just need to add mascara to add that extra oomph!" Pacifica pulls out a small tube, and twists open the top to reveal a spiky stick with some sort of black cream in it. "Hold still please, and look up."
"Um, okay…" Dipper reluctantly does what she says, not wanting that weird wand anywhere near his face. But Pacifica is gentle and careful, and she slowly brushes the stick over his eyelashes. His immediate instinct is to blink, but he focuses on keeping his eyes open. Finally Pacifica steps back, and Dipper reaches for the mirror again. Looking at himself, he gasps - Pacifica was right, the mascara really did bring out his eyes!
"And now, one final touch!" Pacifica leans in and grabs another tube, this time a colorful one. Dipper recognizes it as one of Mabel's liquid lip glosses. Pacifica twists open the cap and dabs a bit on her finger before applying it to Dipper's lips. She makes a kissy face and Dipper copies her. She finishes up and steps back one final time, admiring her work.
"Well, what do you think?" Pacifica asks Mabel.
"I think you turned my nerdy brother into a true woman!"
"Now, we just need to do this all over again tomorrow!"
Night of the party
Pacifica arrives at the mystery shack with 3 hours to spare. Dipper doesn't think they'll need that much time, but Paz shrugs him off and gets straight to work. First, she gets Dipper to wear the purple dress he tried on a few days ago. He puts it on and strikes a few poses, much to the girl's enjoyment.
"So, makeup next?" He asks, mentally preparing himself for the feeling of having the brushes rub over his face again.
"Nope! Now it's time to put in hair extensions!" Mabel sits Dipper down on the stool and starts brushing out his short, brown hair. She grabs her matching extensions and clips them firmly onto his head. Dipper squirms as the unfamiliar weight of long hair feels weird.
"Ugh do I need long hair? Don't some girls have short hair?"
"Yeah, but with that outfit there is no way you could pull that off. Besides, rich people always keep their hair long." Pacifica says, rummaging through her makeup supplies, "Now hold still."
Dipper waits patiently while Pacifica makes his face again. The brushes itch and tickle and he has to sneeze, but Dipper holds it all in until she's finished. It's for the mystery…it's for the mystery…it's for the mystery, Dipper chants in his head. He just needs to act like a girl for one night, then things will be back to normal. And they'll have the crown, so they can make their uncles friends again!
"Done!" Pacifica says after about fifteen minutes. Dipper grabs the mirror and looks at his face and he smiles at the girl staring back at him. Pacifica's good, he'll give her that. He looks up and sees Mabel standing off to the side, bouncing on the balls of her feet.
"Are you-"
"Time for accessories!" Mabel shouts, jumping forward. A whole bunch of stuff falls from her arms, and she starts shifting through the pile to find the right stuff. While he's waiting, Dipper slips on the purple high heels Paz lended him.
"Aha!" Mabel yells triumphantly. She holds up a handful of stuff - from jewelry, to purses, to perfume, etc. Dipper raises his eyebrow as Mabel hands him a small, golden purse. She indicates to her shoulder so Dipper slips the strap over it and lets the short purse rest under his arm.
"Oh, how about some of this!" Pacifica whips out a small, crystal bottle of expensive looking perfume.
"No, Pacifica I couldn't."
"Don't worry about it, I have like five other bottles at home."
"If you say so…" Dipper reluctantly agrees. Pacifica grabs his hand and sprays a small spritz into the inside of his wrist. She then takes his other hand and rubs his two wrists together. Finally she takes both of his wrists and rubs them along either side of his neck, ensuring that the smell is evenly spread.
"Now here." Pacifica shoves a pair of expensive, feminine sunglasses on his face. The lenses curve up slightly and the corners and the frames dazzle like freshly polished diamond. Pacifica steps back and nods, before Mabel bounds forward.
"Put these one!" She says, shoving large, star-shaped clip on earrings in his face. Dipper takes them and carefully puts them on. He wrinkles his nose as he feels his ears sag in an uncomfortable way. Then she gives him a gold necklace, and three gold cuff bracelets. Mabel moves to help put the necklace on, while Dipper wraps the cuffs around his arm. Mabel grabs one more thing - a star barrette - and sticks it in his hair.
She steps back and stands next to Pacifica. Both girls gesture for Dipper to stand, and he complies. Pacifica twirls her finger and Dipper slowly spins around for the two. Finally they smile at each other before Mabel steps up and waving her arms over his shoulder, she says,
"I now dub thee…party ready!"
I hope you enjoyed that! Again, I am so incredibly sorry this took forever to write! I can't make any promise on when the next one will come out, but I can swear that I'll work as hard as I can to get it out to you guys sooner rather than later.
