The ride home was hard. Luz's father was having a call with a trusted advisor, someone he hoped would help him.

"I don't think you understand what I'm dealing with! This is my daughter, which means she is your future boss! She is the only family I have, I already failed at being a good husband to Camila, I refuse to be a bad father to Luz!" There was a minute of silence, "Well, had I known she was my daughter the last times we interacted, I wouldn't have hurt her!" There was another pause, "No, I am not bringing her there. This call is over. Goodbye."

He hung up the phone and put it back in his pocket. He ran his hand through his hair and sighed.

"She's probably been locked in her room since I left. What am I going to do? She's needs a parent, but I don't know how to be one." He thought for a minute, "Maybe she's right. Maybe if I bring her... no, if she finds out about that, it'll only push her away more. If I ever plan on telling her the truth, I have to build up her trust."

The limo stopped outside the mansion and he got out. He walked to the front door and entered the house. He looked around and saw the money he gave Luz, sitting on the table. He grabbed it and put it in his pocket. He walked upstairs and saw the closed door. He tried to open it but it was locked. He sighed and leaned against the door. He slid down the door and sat on the ground.

"Luz, I know you're in there." He said, "I know you feel responsible, but there was no way it could've been your fault. I know I'm not a good father and I'm not going to pretend that I know how to even be a parent. Hell, last time I saw you, you were only four." He let out a breath, "If you want to talk, I'll be here. I won't leave you. I promise I'll be here for you when you need me."

He stood up and looked at the door.

"I love you, Princess." He said, "I'll be downstairs if you need me."

He walked down the stairs and Luz just laid in bed. She had tear stains on her face and hugged her knees. She heard every word her dad said, especially him calling her "Princess". She doesn't have many memories from when they were a whole family, but she does remember that her dad loved calling her Princess. He always said it was because she was as beautiful as one. She hasn't been called that in so long, she forgot how happy it made her.
